Why is everything after the end of the Conviction arc shit?
The Guts Vs. Zodd rematch was great. Griffith flying away and clutching his heart was also some good foreshadowing. The story didn't officially drop in quality until right after that when Guts gets a gang. The setting turns to shit when Shierke is introduced and crams magic bulshit down our throats every five pages. The last highlight was Guts getting the berserker armor and turning the tables on his foes but the novelty quickly wore off when you realize that he's no longer relying on his own strengths as a human man.
Because there isn't enough Griffith screen time.
As a serious answer though, maybe it's just because everything pales in comparison to the Golden Age arc. It was a peak experience, and kind of self contained. It's gunna take a while to get things rolling again after that finale.
I enjoyed the Golden Age arc but the Conviction arc is my favorite. Griffith was brought back too quickly.
Conviction Arc is also my favorite but only because Mozgus was the best take on dogmatic priest I've ever seen. He was a bit misguided but ultimately his intentions were good.
I still can't believe he wasn't an Apostle.
He wasn't, he merely had faith powered muscles for smiting heretics. Because he was turned into a pseudo apostle he never had to make a sacrifice either. He died pure and ascended to heaven.
>when you realize that he's no longer relying on his own strengths as a human man.
I liked when he was still fighting relying almost solely on his human power and swordsmanship to get through overwhelming beings. His fight with Rosine is still probably the best of the series.
However, while you might rightfully feel the introduction of the Berserker armor takes away from the thrill of the fights, its massive powerup is still nothing compared to ever increasingly strong Apostles, or even ancient gods. I like the fact that despite Guts now using a powerful artifact in addition to the Dragonslayer, and having a powerful magic user in Schierke by his side, his quest is more hopeless than ever. The scale changed from him hunting a few apostles here and there him facing a whole army of extremely strong ones he's yet to met, eldritch abominations, etc.
The armor is also literally killing him. He's living on borrowed time and has already started losing his five senses, which makes you wonder just how long he can keep going, and how much he can accomplish with his husk of a body. This adds tension to the story and that's why I can justify the shift to high fantasy in my mind. The story got better, not worse.
oh look, shounen kiddies crying again
Which chapter was Guts fighting him?
He always scared the shit out of me.
Berserk is actually pretty creepy. Did anyone else get creeped out by something in Berserk?
Farnese masturbating to the thought of people being burned at stake was genuinely more unsettling than many of the goriest and most violent moments of the manga.
The goblin rape got to me. There's this shot in particular where you see the women not resisting their beast captors and just letting themselves get fucked. The despair and apathy are almost palpable.
The start of Volume 20 I believe.
I had an erection during that whole part
I'm not even sorry
I'd have a boner too if it were big brawny orcs instead of hunched over jew caricatures.
I miss when Farnese had her own weird fucked up personality, instead of just lusting for Guts' cock and learning magic from Schierke and taking care of retard Casca.
The good old days
what if farnese raped rape horse?
Who should Farnese end up with?
Serpico or Roderick? I like both of them a lot thought, honestly.
>Lusting for guts
Really? Am I a harem MC? Because I never noticed that
I still expect her to pull a 180 at some point and use the Behelit that Guts has been carrying around to sacrifice Serpico and become an apostle.
>what if farnese raped rape horse?
Damn you must be if you missed that one. She was even jealous of Caska for a bit there.
I feel like rereading Berserk. Which scanlations should I use? I read somewhere here that hawks was shit and that some group was retranslating it all.
Serpico shut his heart from tyoe of relationship because they're siblings. He wants her to be healthy and happy.
I laughed like a retard reading that part
Which one's the Conviction arc?
You want the Dark Horse scans. NEVER READ THE HAWKS.
There's the torrent of all the volumes.
Hey that's real fucking neato, they're even named sensibly. Cheers
The one with the flat faced priest and Griffiths resurection
what if this horses shoved fuck fuck two chopstic up yo ass
Nah, I can't see that happening. Guts and his little group are the "good guys" and they're not gonna betray him now.
Oh man. Mozgus was ballin'.
Golden Age was great too, but I thought it was kind of interesting that Berserk started off with three ho-hum chapters and then did something like a hundred and twenty chapters of backstory immediately afterwards.
>your resistance just makes my dick harder
How many named characters have been raped upto this point?
Guts is gonna be presented with the choice of sacrificing his new friends to beat Griffith and it's gonna make him go more berserk than ever at the mere thought of following Griffiths footsteps.
at least 4
probably everyone if you're from sweden
Doesn't necessarily have to be outright betrayal, though no matter what the circumstances surrounding it Guts will see it as one. Make him all conflicted again, like he was with his beautiful baby boy.
I also wouldn't be surprised if Rickert rejoined the Hawks after all. I expect lots more screwed up shit to happen before all is said and done. The plot from here on isn't necessarily going to be a predictable straight line. There's more in store for all of the characters. We don't know what that is yet.
>NEVER READ THE HAWKS
The reason why Conviction Arc is best is Luca
Farnese was almost-raped by horsecock and then I guess unwilling weird fetish sex while demon-possessed counts as rape.
The scene with the princess and Griffith felt pretty rapey to me, plus she was almost raped by her dad.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
1 Pussy 1 Horse
They just flat-out changed shit or made stuff up when they didn't like the original or thought it was too boring.
I just caught up to it, but doesnt an eclipse happen there once for like a couple hundred years?
Because they did an awful shitty job at translating things. From having the wrong spelling of character's names (Gattsu) to their translation completely misinterprets important parts of the story and things being said.
Because their translation is incredibly botched, plainly wrong at times, the typesetting is horrrible and they're the main reason so many people still spell the characters names are Gutts, Gatts, Caska, and other nonsense, even in this very thread.
You're right, but Apostle deals are much more frequent.
Yes, an eclipse is a special apostle transformation wherein you join the godhand. What anon's filename should have been is 'Guts using Behelit foreshadowing', which is retarded, as Puck is the one who is going to use the Behelit and if you've been paying any attention you'd realize this.
>Puck is the one who is going to use the Behelit
All hail our lord Puck
I still believe that she was directly controlled by the Idea of Evil.
Same thing with Sonia.
They're just beaming with insight, optimism and joy in a world where no one has those and they directly influence entire events without having done much, except for Sonia.
Also that part where Skull Knight mentions that she was weird after she goes back to try and save her friend and he just has that moment of realization that he spent so much time being with her that he was unable to stop Griffith from coming back. It's specifically at that moment that Skull Knight just turns away, gives up and waits for Griffith rather than try and stop it and I don't find it coincidental at all but that's just my theory.
But Pucks closes friend is the Behelit itself, Betchi.
What kind of consequences would sacrificing a behelit do?
Break the system and annihilate reality, killing the Idea of Evil and rendering Griffith helpless, then Guts will kill Griffith and Theresia will kill guts.
Lucca is too just and pure to be controlled by the idea of Evil
>Puck is the one who is going to use the Behelit
Will they ever get to Elf Island and will Puck become Elf King?
Remember how they explained that the behelit always winds up in the hands of the one destined to use it, and they share a bond and shit? The person who shares a bond with the Behelit and it always winds up in the hands of is Puck.
I like the trolls, slan raping guts, and guts using the berserker armor for the first time. The sea god arc wasn't bad but it went nowhere.
Fuck Puck, I would rather see him get raped by horse fairy cock and getting castrated by Navi
Miura is truly a man of taste.
Why the fuck wasn't Lucca the main character of the story?
That's the point. She and Sonia stick out too much.
Everyone is either fucked up, broken, depressed or a morally terrible person except for Judeau and Pinpin but they don't count.
For example Sonia, no one is able to even come close to Griffith, much less be in awe and shock by the mere yet she's able to get close, warp herself around his cape and joke about it. Or how she's able to just be taken by Apostles and not fear them. What sort of kid isn't afraid of such things? Even Schierke would be scared shitless.
And Luca is morally right, saves her friends, corns whatever bad actions are done, protects Casca, leads Guts in the right direction to find Casca and also becomes the person whom the Skull Knight spends time saving due to her good will. It just doesn't click.
And then she vanishes at the end, saying she's not the main hero, like she just played her role for the part and walked out the stage.
It's too convenient. It's personally how I think the Idea of Evil has small impact control over History, by controlling certain people entirely yet always remaining behind the scenes..
more like a french girl, really
She was the star of Conviction Arc.
Don't forget Roderick, all around nice guy and total bro.
He even got a loli
You're thinking too much, Luca is a goddess both figuratively and literally.
Roderick is an unknown because we don't know if he's faking it or not. Noble manipulation actor whatever fake out. He still seems like a good guy but he could be going for the big picture and future gain.
Does she count as a Mary Sue?
But think of it this way: she's a goddess because she's directly controlled by a god.
She has no direct impact, so no. That's the whole point, she has no direct influence on anything except show the way. It's the same shit with Sonia and I fucking hate that bitch.
Shit, I confused Roderick with the blonde shota
She wasn't large enough a character for that, as is she had a pretty small, though important role, in a short section of the story. If she stuck in and continued impressing thousand-year-old magical warriors with her determination and bravery and turning people from the path of evil constantly then maybe.
I like Luca, and I don't think she's too good of a character for her own good. Of course, she's a bit of a cliche hooker with a heart of gold on the surface, but she's also profoundly human.
Minor characters like her are important to establish that there are genuinely good people in Berserk, even though the world is shitty, even though they live amidst misery, suffering and morally rotten people. They're normal people. They don't stand out with special abilities or their impact of the story, but they're a reminder that there's still good left. If 100% of humanity was shitty, then what would be the point? Who would care about their fate in the hands of Griffith?
Is Griffith a a Mary Sue?
Golden Age Griffith? No
Current Griffith? Villain Sue par excellance
After the Eclipse? Yes. Completely.
>everyone instantly loves him
>perfect in every way
>thinks ahead than everyone else because he's just that great.
Oh yeah. But it's done intentionally so it gets a pass because he's the goddamn antichristu.
The only bullshit thing hes done is the way he created Falconia.
Falconia is just his dollhouse. When he gets bored he's gonna set it on fire.
>everyone he talks to loves him
>wins every battle without even trying
>turns Skully's magical teleport attack around instantly
>literally everything that happens somehow benefits him
>powerlevel so far beyond Guts that I can't even image how Guts can beat him.
Not that it's bad or anything, it's being done very deliberately to set him up as an insanely powerful villain. But it still counts, just because you're intentionally invoking a trope doesn't make it any less a trope.
Who's more rage inducing, Griffith or his Korean counterpart Aji Tae?
How to be a dick, by Griffith:
>make everywhere impossible to live in
>spawn monsters everywhere
>build the best club house
>burn it all down when bored
I swear this is like hearing what an edgy teen would do to piss off his anime club members who have bad taste in anime or some shit.
is that korean manga good?
I got a large erection at her getting spanked.
You have a very healthy sex drive.
I wish Guts made it to elf island. At least then The manga would have some semblance of an ending before it went on hiatus.
watch Miura die as they just land leaving casca's shit in the air
I regularly masturbate to those Troll rapes
Miura needs to get onto drawing some porn of Farnese, tarded Casca and Schrieke having hot dyke sex with Farnese spanking Casca for biting her nipples and Schrieke making Farnese eat her cunt.
We can call it The Aristocrats
same girl that first got troll raped btw.
Who knows how many dickings that ass has gone through
I'm conflicted over Farnese's hair
She looked cute with her pigtails and fuggen sexy when she let her hair down. Short hair is kawaii though
You can't really be sure, fucking every woman in Midland looks identical.
No wonder Kushans invaded , 10/10s everywere
But they just raped them and threw em in a big monster machine
Man I fucking love Berserk. This thread just is asking for me to reread it all again. Say what you will about post-GA arcs and the boat, but it's still one of the best manga series right now.
I actually liked the change in direction. Not out of dislike for the previous style, but it was both an enjoyable change of pace and made sense given that the world itself was changing dramatically.
Me to anon. i always enjoy manga/stories that transition between the highs and lows of particular genres.
berserks case i find especially exciting due to it's contrast between huge; in your face changes and some times subtle ones.
Can anyone tell me what's the chapter where the idea of evil appears?
How are guys able to read Manga on an PC ?
I hate not having a book in my hands and flipping through the pages.
By not being an Autist child
Why does the manga start counting chapters in volume 5 instead of at the beginning of volume 1?
The first few volumes are just the prologue, not much happens in them that's story relevant except for Guts meeting Puck and getting that behelit from the count, which I think is the one he keeps throughout the rest of the story
Why are there so many Berserk threads?
We expect Miura to start drawing Berserk again?
He's finished with Idolm@ster doujins?
But it also includes the part where Griffith and Guts meet/fight and his first raid with the Hawks. I would expect the chapters to begin in volume 3 not partway through 5.
Volume 13-the eclipse
It's easy to find it then.
Shit I mean begin in volume 4 not 3
He said there'd be a new chapter as soon as he finishes Gigantomakhia, people assume that it should come out at the end of February.
>Set 100 million years in the future, it's about an epic war between the forces led by Zeus and the nether forces led by the giant Alcyoneus.
The man has been writing EPIC so long I kind of want to see if someone can convince him to do a chapter of Yotsub&.
It really doesn't matter since the story is never gonna be finished anyway. Guts got on a boat and died of scurvy, The End.
Everything after golden is shit.
>well I guess now I'm going to kill Griffith
>but not yet
>no, not now
Guts is a manly hunk of meat. Little girls, silver-haired demon lords, kinky sado-masochistic demon princesses, and crazy pyromaniac noble ladies are all over Guts.
No, but seriously, Guts is tremendously fascinating to Farnese. He is calm and composed and focuses on survival despite being in a nightmarish situation with acid phantoms killing people. He is like a prophet to her.
Life's a journey, not a destination because we all know everyone dies in the end.
The journey is a 10 year boat ride
Griffith is too strong, and Casca is too retarded. Once Griffith comes with his monster army to burn down Elfheim, Guts will go back to kill Griffith and his demon monster buddies.
wait until she summons fire spirits
guys go back and read the description about the berserk armour, and you will see that it merely removes all fear allowing the user to use there full strength at the cost of ruining there body. he ends up in worse condition from the armour than he does from his fights because his body is destroying itself.
I mean if the armor didn't fuck his body so he could kill shit he would be dead, I'd say that a worse condition.
Isidro is the one with the fire salamander-spirit dagger.
Perhaps one day Isidro will become a man in the hands of Farnese.
