Why can't /a/ tolerate these types of threads?
Because we're not /tv/. We don't want new blood coming in and getting spoonfed off that type of thread.
Have you taken a look at how shitty /tv/ is?
>recommendations threads all over the place
all these newweebs who have no clue where to start because its happening on the other side of the world.
we dont want them!
What makes you think that kind of thread would bring in new blood?
Why can't idiots use this website?
There's already plenty of outsiders and crossboarders like yourself here, that kind of thread would encourage them to stay.
/tv/ has waifu threads.
/a/ has waifu threads.
/tv/ discusses new and ongoing series.
/a/ discusses new and ongoing series.
/tv/ discusses old series.
/a/ does not.
/tv/ has decent recommendation threads.
/a/ does not.
Seems like this is the shittier board.
Seems like you're a faggot and need to fuck off
It's not a website, it's a search engine. And generally one needs a keyword to search for.
Look at the postcount, we're more than twice bigger than /tv/.
Bigger faster boards can't work the same way.
The number of people that would ask recommendations in here (if it was tolerated) would drown the board.
Because it's almost exclusively new posters that post those kind of threads here, usually thinking along the lines of "If I ask something that will require their expertise they will probably feel thankful", not realizing every other newshitter thinks the same way and we get those threads all day everyday. If we tolerate it, they feel welcome and stay around, possibly doing it more times. The tradeoff is that people will do it intentionally to piss us off, but it's worth it.
You seem to be lost.
>/tv/ discusses old series
>/a/ does not.
What the fuck are you talking about nigger? /a/ discusses LoGH and Eva on a daily basis.
OOO I'M SCARED NOW!
Goddamn, /tv/ has shit taste in film.
Because we have far more interesting
>post your reaction to the last episode you watched
/a/ a shit
/a/ has threads on older series, but probably not as many. There's an Evangelion thread like every day and occasionally other older series get discussed too.
We discuss old series, if you had lurked before making a fool of yourself you would know that. We also have recommendation charts that can be found on google. There is no point to recommendation threads.
Then why don't you go back to /tv/ and stay there permanently? We aren't interested in your reformation policies, we like our board as it is, thanks.
Every board has its own culture, if you lurked more you would understand that
Then just go back to >>>/tv/, problem solved. What's the big deal?
As long as it is a manga thread
You know, the kind of thread that really gets discussion instead of group wanking,
What went wrong?
Why is she so perfect?
Who X here?
Would you a X?
Everyday until X
You will never mumble mumble
Mumble mumble Prove me wrong - You can't
You have X seconds mumble mumble - You can't
What does X's Y smell like?
How do we fix X?
X a Y
Which X would you Y?
/a/ suddenly hates x
Why is X the only studio willing to take risks?
You should be able to solve this
About to watch X what should I expect?
Don't mind me, I'm just posting mumble mumble.
There are people on /a/ right now who mumble mumble
What the fuck happened?
Mumble mumble when?
Let's get a X thread going
What's wrong with VLC?
Wake up, see this. What do?
I'll just leave this here
What's your excuse for not watching X
Do X if your waifu is posted
X will save anime / I'm here to save anime
What does /a/ think about X?
What's the most boring anime you've ever watched?
X is Love
Is X worth watching?
I had so high hopes for this series, but it just gets worse and worse with every new episode.
yfw x wins da y
Mumble mumble thread? Mumble mumble thread
What the fuck did I just watch?
Was it rape, /a/?
Weekend waifu drawthread
All your waifus are wonderful, /a/
X confirmed for Y
Why do you still watch moeshit?
She sees your dick
We want the X audience
Which anime has the worst fanbase?
X becomes the MC of the Y. How fucked is X?
Show me your WAR FACE
Could X defeat Y?
Oh wow, two all-time classic franchises that are obligatory discussion fodder.
I haven't been here long, but I already knew about the wiki. And let's be real, you don't discuss old series that often, because /a/ and anime fandom in general are obsessed with staying current.
Missing the single page threads.
You're right, /a/ is a wonderful place filled with wonderful people.
That's already more thread variety than /tv/, though some of those are /v/ as hell and others are just old and busted.
If you want to discuss something make a semi-decent thread about it. It's really that simple.
Then why are you here, faggot?
>Responding to that old copypasta
Has /a/ really fallen this low?
Waaay back in the day these types of threads existed on /a/. And that is exactly what I used them for. Nowadays you have shit like recommendation charts and sites dedicated to it though.
Some of those warrant deletions and even bans sometimes. Recommendation threads should be treated in the same way.
Because this place needs cleansing.
>because /a/ and anime fandom in general are obsessed with staying current.
Not really, it's easy to see why
>discuss something that has finished airing and nothing new can happen, has already been discussed to death
>discuss something that gets new material weekly
>because /a/ and anime fandom in general are obsessed with staying current.
No, we are just tired of discussing many of the older shows. Especially since the people who create threads about "older shows" usually do it about one of the entry-level shows that everybody has watched and talked about ten trillion times, like Cowboy Bebop.
There is a thread about Macross up right now with some discussion, but I bet your entry-level ass hasn't even heard about that either.
Because I like anime. Whereas half of this board would rather shitpost and have the same threads every damn day than discuss the actual media /a/ is dedicated to.
I was agreeing with it though.
Shit gets discussed to death and faggots that needlessly bring up older series just indicate how new they are by the fact that they haven't seen them yet
I miss the times when "Prove me wrong" was bannable
>because /a/ and anime fandom in general
>anime fandom in general
No. That's just /a/, actually.
Try some shitty random animu forum if you want to talk about Naruto and Cowboy Bebop all day.
How come my Jigoku Shoujo or Dantalian no Shoka threads died with 20 posts?
Because you are shit at making threads
Be glad you got 20 posts.
>calling a forum shitty
Although Gaia is awful.
>WHY DON'T PEOPLE DISCUSS UNPOPULAR SHOWS?
Jigoku shoujo was never popular in the board, I post in those threads, but it's been always been like that.
For dantalian you just need to do a Huey thread.
Because they've been talked to death already? Check the archive if you want to see what was said when they were still relevant.
I haven't watched Macross, but of course I've heard of it. Some day I'll watch it, and if it were possible I'd love to come here and discuss it afterwards, since I like 4chan in general. But /a/ is very closed off and hostile, and that's a shame.
It depends when you post, if you whore yourself with bumping and the fact that no one gives a shit
/a/ is a much larger board, take that into consideration before making bullshit meta threads about this kind of garbage
Forums are shitty though, primarily because of all the admin cocksucking and attentionwhoring.
So you're just too beta to make actual conversation cause you're afraid people on the internet will be mean. Got it.
>makes K-ON thread
>fills up and has to make another
>makes Dantalian thread
>20 posts of Huey best MC and dies
You missed the "subs when?" thread.
He probably started the thread with a "How about you weeb faggots stop fapping to your waifus and filling this board with moeshit and watch some REAL anime" like every other retard who whines that /a/ doesn't discuss their old shows, and then wonders why they don't like the threads they always make for them.
As opposed to the rest of /a/'s alpha population?
Some day you will understand how to discuss older and more obscure shows on /a/, and then you will appreciate our elitism and the way we try to stop the influx of trash into our board.
>the way we try to stop the influx of trash into our board.
It's not working
>One board being better than the other means I don't like this one
Where the fuck does this mentality come from? This isn't even elitism, just blatant retardation.
Are you afraid of faggots not valuing your bullshit /tv/ insight into Macross or are you fearful that if you've seen something no one will want to discuss it and your rubbish thread will die? >>101285610
>you will appreciate our elitism
Spoken like a true elitist.
But I like those. Subs are in mongolia
The only retardation here is wanting recommendation threads.
They come in droves, act like idiots and other idiots will think they're in familiar company and stay
Or simply don't go to Space Dandy/most KLK threads for this season and you can avoid most of it
The filth tend to act a bit more sane outside of those environments and if they don't they'll get abused for it
It's not catch-all, but it's preferable to having no standards at all. Just look at /v/.
And "fucking dropped"
Posting those emoticons is bannable here.
I just realized the boku no pico is eight years old now.
I think I need a moment. what the fuck have I been doing with my life?
Also, boku no pico
Why do you care?
>and that's a shame.
Yeah, it's such a shame that we don't accept other people, and instead expect them to accustom to the hostility that they will one day call home. I can almost be sure you made threads on /q/ about /a/'s elitism.
It's one of the most active boards on 4chan.
What, do you actually take any of it personally?
>Some day I'll watch it, and if it were possible I'd love to come here and discuss it afterwards, since I like 4chan in general. But /a/ is very closed off and hostile, and that's a shame
Just don't post like a self-entitled retard like what you're doing right now
>since I like 4chan in general. But /a/ is very closed off and hostile, and that's a shame.
Are you kidding me? /a/ is probably the closest to what 4chan was like before moot starts adding more and more boards till they resemble other generic forums.
I'm surprised nobody pointed out that I don't think we don't tolerate those threads at all. It doesn't even look like a recommendation thread, it just looks like those "the last anime you watched" threads we have.
Rec threads are good for low population boards like /tv/. They don't wind up becoming spam and sitting on the top slot like they do here. /a/ is high-population, high-post, and so rec threads clog the pipeline.
Ideally what would happen is that we'd convert to full catalogue, no-delete and then it wouldn't matter if people shitposted or made rec threads because once the dated blogroll format of imageboards is changed, shitposting would be nullified by technological advances and the shitposters would leave on their own
It's the faggots from the casualweb seeping into our side of the internet who can't take an insult, who think that "nethate" and "online bullying" are real problems.
Man, 4chan is such a shithole. Why am I even here? It's not like this is a place for people who enjoy anime or film.
For example, look at the 2ch format and how they do things, there's no need for people to make new threads because there's already an active thread for every airing series every season, and their format uses what is essentially a text catalogue.
4chan needs to learn from BASED 2CH.
Because you're here forever
It's so disgusting how people spout "HURR NOT UR SEKRET KLUB" when told to fuck off or lurk more. In fact, that's why no one bothers to tell others to lurk more.
Mods are cool sometimes
Wow, who is this mod? He's a total bro. Does he still hang around here?
That was from when /q/ was around. We probably already know him.
I like anime more than movies and western tv
not my fault /a/ is the /v/ of anime
That looks like an ebin troll though. I remember the thread. The mod probably got baited.
You know, you could just leave if you have a problem. The board is not going to change for one person
Sometimes I miss /q/, because reading threads like that made me realize that our hostility works wonders.
But then again, I'm really, really, glad that shithole is gone.
Because we aren't big enough guys.
Probably, but you never know. Poe's law and all that.
Though the /v/ of anime is better than other anime boards
what's with anime and horrible and obnoxious fanbases?
>this thread is still alive
I'm just asking it because Joot seems to switch mods and janitors constantly. It would be a real shame if he was affected by that.
What do you expect? Everyone's bumping and no one's reporting.
I've always thought /a/ was good enough to not need a sticky, but do you think a LURK MORE sign would help? It's embarrassing to sink to the level of other boards, but preventing rec threads would be worth it.
Do you have the one where one /q/tard said lurking wasn't effective? I almost died laughing.
I hope you're saging.
You haven't been to /v/ often enough, then.
anime babbs are kiddies with insecurity problems by nature so they have to invent stupid shit to pretend they are superior to other people
>muh sekrit klub
/a/ doesn't discuss old series because most of the retards here have seen all of two or three shows from before 2007. It's because it's "/a/ culture" to think that it's more important to act like an asshole as much as possible than it is to actually know the first thing about anime.
>/v/ is the video game board that hates video games
>/a/ is the anime board that hates anime
sounds similar to me
>>/a/ is the anime board that hates anime
>they hate anime because they don't talk about muh matur shows
Just get the fuck out already.
It won't prevent rec threads. It won't prevent ANYTHING. They don't care. All rec threads come down to the OP shouting out "Fuck that I don't want no wiki list, and I don't want to wait and lurk this shit board, I just want personalized recs RIGHT NOW, GIVE ME THEM NOW"
hell you even respond like /v/
/a/ might hate anime, but we at least discuss anime. /v/ is /b/ with a video game twist.
I'm certain I do, and you would know, wouldn't you?
The only thing we can do is remain ever vigilant
/a/ doesn't hate anime at all. You'd have to be a fucking idiot to think so, or are bitter because someone said they didn't like your favourite show (which I also think is shit, faggot)
/v/ spends more time discussing journalists, youtubers, feminists, and politics than it ever does videogames. The majority of them regularly say they hate videogames and the industry and don't play anything anymore, all they do is nostalgiafag and whine about tumblr. At least when retards do that here it's recognized as shitposting.
Because /a/ has a hivemind similar to /v/. The main difference is that instead of being faggots in general, /a/ is just a pain in the ass to deal with.
God forbid someone asks a fucking question about a show or something. At least /v/ will answer. /a/ will just jump down your throat for fucking reason.
If someone asks for an anime similar to x, I'll usually give them a suggestion or two and link them to google instead of being an asshole for no reason in particular.
Man, this idea that /a/ doesn't discuss old series is retarded. All you have to do is make a thread that isn't stupid and hope people feel like talking about it. Don't be mad if your thread only gets 20 or 30 replies, just try again another day
But we don't. Just because we hate something you may like doesn't mean we hate anime
Not the same guy here. I just visited /v/ right now to see if the above poster is right...
It's like you're a usual poster on /v/.
You're the one responding like /v/.
/a/ don't hate anime, /a/ just hate your favorite anime, they are different things.
>God forbid someone asks a fucking question about a show or something.
Are they asking a question about a show or are they asking for a recommendation for a show and sounding like a retard? There is a difference
At least 95% of all rec threads have retarded OPs
/a/ doesn't hate anime, it hates your favorite anime because it's shit. Get better taste.
The superiority complex in this image makes me want to kill the fucker who made these posts and shove dildos in every one of his orifices then masturbate so much that I break my dick.
We do have these type of threads
>What is your aots/aoty?
You need to lurk the fuck more and stop being an asspained faggot.
Please, do show me some evidence if you will.
/a/ spends a lot of time discussing genetics because muh incest.
They also spend time shitposting about politics when there's a politically related topic.
If you've been on /a/ long enough, you'd know it's a combination of /r9k/, /pol/ and /v/....
>I'll usually give them a suggestion or two and link them to google instead
Most rec thread OP's will despise you for even doing that much and start screaming about /a/ being secret club and that they'll ban evade and spam and shitpost the board as revenge.
>Are they asking a question about a show or are they asking for a recommendation for a show and sounding like a retard?
Both, /a/ turns into an asshole over both.
I generally ignore rec threads unless the op seems to know what they're talking about.
>If someone asks for an anime similar to x, I'll usually give them a suggestion or two and link them to google instead of being an asshole for no reason in particular
You're part of the problem, faggot. You may even get banned for doing that should the circumstances be appropriate.
>/a/ will just jump down your throat for fucking reason.
It's not because of no fucking reason, lurking is the most important quality to have as a poster. Usually the people who ask things are so fucking lazy that they haven't even read the thread in question, where the question has been directly or indirectly answered several times already.
>They also spend time shitposting about politics when there's a politically related topic.
Well, that one is because /pol/ is everywhere. You can't start a politically related topic anywhere around here without shiposting about politics going on
>Both, /a/ turns into an asshole over both.
What kind of questions about shows are you thinking about that we apparently jumped down your throat about?
If you would lurk more, you would know that /a/ was originally /b/ - Anime & Random.
>Both, /a/ turns into an asshole over both.
So you'll be polite and answer someone if they ask what a show is when it appears in the filename?
You don't want to be a mean bullying elitist and not spoonfeed him, right?
>16. All requests belong on /r/ unless otherwise noted.
god forbid someone actually reads the rules
I'm sure threads like this are ruining /a/ more than anything else. They're pointless and don't accomplish anything.
/a/ seems to be paranoid about more people picking up anime in general. Personally I don't really care.
There's your evidence. Lurk moar faggot.
>Well, that one is because /pol/ is everywhere. You can't start a politically related topic anywhere around here without shiposting about politics going on
In fact, I can already sense them making their way to this thread as we speak.
Oh wow. Mods = Gods.
>redirecting me to /v/
You sure showed me son.
>instead of being an asshole for no reason in particular.
There is a reason. Lurk more you fucking faggot.
Filter /pol/'s most common buzzwords. They're so stupid they can't a post without using at least one of them so you never have to see them
Do you know what past tense is?
Good point. /pol/ is always leaking their shit everywhere else.
Ashes we were and ashes we become, goes the saying.
Meta threads happen every week on every board, its the same arguments from newfags rehashed every time. There's not much you can do about it except sage and report.
>It is your community and your role to help enforce what kind of board you want /a/ to be. I'm leaving the thread open for a short while so you guys can discuss this.
>can't look for it himself
Evolution disagrees with you.
99% of the time I'm on any board I lurk.
I personally don't care about occasionally helping someone out. Sorry it bothers you so much, I'm apparently a blight on /a/.
Meanwhile, the same sakurafish/waifu/husbando/loli thread is still active (and will start up again once the thread 404's) despite not contributing anything. At least I try to help someone out so a person might come here and contribute to a discussion about anime.
Okay, so I got degenerate, jew, cultural marxism and happening, what more?
Oh no, believe me I've been on /v/ during the days Neptunia was airing, and during the days before GTA V was released. It was an absolute travesty of a trip, especially when everything from Japan is called "weaboo shit" and they even call Dark Souls a 'western RPG." Try spending more than a few minutes there next time, because that won't justify your accusations of me posting like I'm on /v/.
It's a saying, nothing more, nothing less.
Where are all these faggots coming from? I can't even tell if that's a troll or if he's that much of a newfag retard. I know that IRC is responsible for spamming the majority of the "Recommend me anime" threads, but sometimes I am not sure if it's them or not.
>At least I try to help someone out so a person might come here and contribute to a discussion about anime.
Explain this thought pattern. Why would you helping someone result in them discussing anime? As I see it, it would only result in them coming here and asking for more obvious shit that they were too lazy too look up themselves.
SJW, liberal, leftist. Also tumblr and Reddit though you should have those filtered anyway
>. At least I try to help someone out so a person might come here and contribute to a discussion about anime.
>Meanwhile, the same sakurafish/waifu/husbando/loli thread is still active (and will start up again once the thread 404's) despite not contributing anything.
They are still board related and not helping
>At least I try to help someone out so a person might come here and contribute to a discussion about anime.
If you actually wanted to help them, you would show them the /a/ wiki since that would be a better help than just giving some stupid rec. Hell, it completely removes the nature of lurking, the thing you apparently do 99% of the time
Also SRS and the various permutations of "feminism"
> At least I try to help someone out so a person might come here and contribute to a discussion about anime.
Don't. We don't want any more retarded shits like you ruining the board. Sakurafish, loli threads, waifu threads, are 1000x more enjoyable than having even a single one of you here on the board. These threads mentioned above at least remain focused on the characters.
If we had it your way, eventually we'd be filled with threads filled with posters who are more focused on blogging about themselves than they are about anime. So just fuck off and be helpful at one of the other hundreds of anime forums out there on the internet.
God, stop talking as if you hold some moral high ground. You're on enemy territory, so just shut the fuck up and don't tell others what THEY should do when it's you who's obviously in the wrong.
Historically, it was Gaia and similar sites. As for today, I don't know either. You would think faggots like that would shy away from 4chan considering its infamous aura of racism, offensive imagery, pedophilia and so on and so forth. Why aren't they being kept away? The only logical conclusion is that they come from other boards on this very site.
>contribute to a discussion about anime.
Contribute? You know what those people do?
This >>101291770 >>101291659 and then they come in screaming >>101293428. It doesn't help, it shits on the board. Stop helping people that will come in and cry because /a/ doesn't want to talk about the anime that they just watched and claim that /a/ hates anime.
Or, alternatively, will make threads of "hey /a/ just watched X what next?"
>Where are all these faggots coming from?
The hell if I know. Half of these posters already know that /a/ is a shit hole for recommendations, yet they decide to come here and ask anyways.
>outsiders and crossboarders
You sound like a tremendous faggot. People like you are the reason this board, /v/, and /mlp/ are the laughingstock of the Internet.
>a bunch of autistic kids whine the loudest
>lets let them decide the new rules
yeah fuck that
you have no way of knowing what the 'community' wants or doesnt want. this is fucking 4chan.
theres is samefagging.
there are proxies.
you cant do polls.
you cant objectively say /a/ wants this or /a/ wants that or what "/a/" is at all. these things cannot be measured.
I'd be happy if /a/ just stopped abusing the quote and spoiler functions and didn't spout so many memes.
Yeah, that does make sense, and I do agree with you to an extent. However, it's not as if every person who ever got information off of /a/ became an insufferable faggot. The ones who did are usually pretty easy to spot out and ignore.
Also, read my prior post, it's not like i'll consider someone asking "I WATCHED NARUTO JUST NOW. WHAT ARE SOME ANIME LIKE NARUTO. HALP."
I'll usually only recommend people who are a hell of a lot more specific.
you're a funny guy you know that?
Most of /tv/ has been watching TV and movies for 20 years. Most of /a/ has been watching anime (outside toonami) for 2-3.
>not anime related
Yes you can. You know what they community wants and what it's like by fucking lurking here long enough. Kill yourself.
Guys, please, just stop replying, this is just a garbage meta thread that should have been deleted an hour ago
And now we're continuing the meta discussion, that will ultimately go nowhere, because we've all already said what we wanted to say, and these threads are always the same anyways
Let's all just close the tab right now and either go into an anime related thread or watch an anime
>these things cannot be measured.
Oh, but they can. If a majority, even if it's vocal, wins, then that's what they'll get.
Is so nice to have competent mod.
so i can make /a/ whatever i want if i want to samefag enough.
sounds like a great plan.
fortunately the mods these days arent as retarded as some of you are with these ideas.
I do agree that it's more okay to help those that go out of their way to describe very specific specifications for what they want to watch, beyond "I want something similar to this and that entry level show", and more in the manner of "I want a show featuring these exact three aspects, is there a show like that?".
Still, I don't really like it.
Not happening. I'm gonna sit here and wait until the thread is dead, otherwise I won't be able to sleep.
You should be saging anon, so you shouldn't worry about a thing.
You claim that there can be no majority since there is anonimity, and yet there is a majority. How do you explain that? How do you explain the standards the board uses? Certainly it's not a majority, is it?
>was it rape
This came FROM /tv/, dumbass
Baby don't hurt me
A lot of those thread archetypes didn't start on /a/, but it doesn't matter, since they have been established as eternal mainstays of the /a/ meta anyway.
Hey, that's from /pol/.
Why the fuck should they be exempt from lurking? Are they VIPs? I lurked, you lurked, we all likely lurked, so let THEM lurk.
This is my idea of an sticky:
>Sticky telling to lurk the wiki for anime rec
So guys just read the sticky, do you have more recommendations for someone who liked...
>Sticky telling that rec thread are bannable
Guys why /a/ is so shitty? Don't you know that being friendly attracts newcommers and 4chan will grow and became a big page like facebook?
This last one could be worst, thanks to the lack of the sticky some faggot DO rec thread and this is good in some way, we tell them to fuckk of and a good bunch of them run scared, If we had an sticky those newfags will post on normal threads of anime they know and will shit all the board from the inside.
So not having a sticky will always be a win win
I miss when "who X here" was a jaypee thing.
Still is. It's just that with weaponization it became worse.
Do you not know how 4chan works?
As if there was anything to discuss about that mediocre show, except "how the hell did this get 3 seasons"?
Funny it's almost like we've told people this before but I guess that was all in my head.
>thinking this is sufficient
That's like labeling every illness imaginable as autism.
What did you think of Henry V?
No it's like doing 10 minutes of research on your own and not asking the same question that has been asked a dozen times a day. If you don't care enough to spend 10 minutes googling something then you don't care enough to watch.
Watching anime and autism go hand in hand.
Ingenius reply. I'm in tears.
Before you complain about old shit not getting discussed, maybe you should stop being new.
Why is this fucking thread still up
