Buddy Complex is surprisingly good. A bit "standard", and the weird 3D/CGI stuff is kinda strange, but I'm enjoying it a lot overall.

After watching Valvrave, I keep expecting the MC to act autistic like Haruto, and I am pleasantly surprised every time he turns out to be reasonably level-headed and competent. Even the most irrational thing he did, opening up his cockpit to talk to Hina, was understandable given his circumstances.

If it were Haruto he'd have spent 5 episodes after that brooding about Hina and the fact that Lee got hurt and how the NICE COUPLING is a curse.

I don't understand why you're so upset. It's natural to compare this anime to Valvrave--they are both animated by Sunrise, this started airing right after Valvrave finished, and MC/Dio is somewhat analogous to Haruto/L-Elf. Are you suggesting that perhaps I should compare it to a different anime, like a different Sunrise anime or a different mecha anime? I'm afraid I don't understand why you would suggest that, because the entire purpose of my post was to point out the differences between Buddy Complex and Valvrave and how pleased I am to watch this after two cours of Valvrave.

I certainly don't know very much about the several different studios that work at Sunrise. I doubt many do to an appreciable extent past an awareness of their existence. If you believe that there's something related to that that is relevant to this thread, I would appreciate it if you could tell me about it.

I'm sorry if my topic was offensive to you. However, any way I look at it, I'm not sure there's a very rational basis for you to get so upset about it.

Not OP but, Fuck you. Go eat shit you special snowflake. Considering Valvrave was the last thing sunrise hyped up to people. This is expected. I'm a shaftfag but I don't get off telling people about how I fucking love shinbo and shaft's piece of shit creations.
>>
I'm right there with ya OP. This isn't like outstandingly good, but I'm enjoying it. And yeah, MC being a pretty normal guy and not doing something retarded given the context is nice. Dio kind of acts like a bitch sometimes, but complaining about MC piloting is valid.

God the whole "Propose/Nice Coupling" thing is still kinda awkward though... to me anyway.

Why is everyone on /a/ so autistic?

The shows are made by different people. You are an idiot who thinks an animation studio is the same team of people making every show.

You should kill yourself. Asshat.

Maybe people are sick of retards like you bringing up Valvrave in every thread when the shows are not similar, not made by the same people and act like Valvrave was your first mecha anime ever.

I'm sorry--please feel free to point out anything that you feel is incorrect in my argument, as I'm certainly not guaranteed to be correct--but I believe that you're not quite correct. I think it's a reasonable position to say that shows made by the same animation studio are more likely to have staff in common than shows made by different animation studios; as such, I also believe it's reasonable to think that shows made by the same animation studio will have more in common than shows made by different animation studios.

I don't believe that noting the manner in which BC differs from Valvrave is a particularly bad offense; at most, the posts are nonoffensive, albeit a bit repetitive. Certainly you cannot malign people for bringing up Valvrave "when the shows are not similar" - that is the entire point of bringing it up!

I also do not understand why it seems to be a given that people bringing up differences between Buddy Complex and Valvrave have never watched a mecha anime aside from Valvrave before. At most, it seems to me that all that can be logically concluded is that people have a poor awareness of which people within a studio specifically are working on each anime, and I do not think that that is a terrible thing to be a bit ignorant of, all considered.

I apologize for troubling you even more, but I don't really think you should be so upset about this. I'm afraid I just have a very difficult time understanding why you are so angry.

I went into this feeling dislike for Aoba based solely on the key visual, but he turned out pretty alright. The Coupling system is a bit silly, but pretty cool.

Though I'm not sold on Aoba x Hina and I'm not looking forward to Bizon suffering.

If you want to compare it to another Sunrise show, compare it to Horizon. That was actually made by the same Studio 8. You can see a lot of similarities in the direction, animation techniques, and music.
>>
>>101291594
Interesting - thank you. I've been thinking about rewatching Horizon, because I never finished the second season, so perhaps this is an opportune time for me to do so.

Man, there's gotta be a ton of Tanpopo art now, right?
>>
I have a hard time calling it good, or enjoyable.

Most of all it feels like total filler to keep the studio at work inbetween other projects.

I have really tried to be polite in pointing out the logical inconsistencies in people's assertions. If you believe that I am mistaken, then feel free to point out where--I will gladly concede. However, with all due respect, if you persist in making assertions that are not logically consistent or sensible, then I do not believe I am the one at fault here, even though I have really put in a great deal of effort in being considerate.

Just consider that Sunrise has completely different animations studios that do not interact. See the Sunrise wikipedia page, it actually describes them.

This is why it is annoying when people compare Valvrave to Buddy Complex. There is no shared staff, there is no shared direction style, there is no common themes any more than a completely different company.

Personally I am a big fan of the studio that is making Buddy Complex and it is frustrating having their work compared to poor shows simply because they share the "Sunrise" name.
>>
>>101290491
Will this show go to the homodachi route?
>>
>>101291500
>I'm sorry--please feel free to point out anything that you feel is incorrect in my argument,
I'll just pretend you're not baiting for a second

In short, Sunrise has a large 40+ year history much of it involving mecha and mecha tropes that many of their shows recycle and use throughout the years. Buddy Complex is no different, however, in the threads, there have been a lot of people comparing it to Valvrave simply because they are the same studio and are mecha anime. Now, this is probably because Valvrave was the most recent entry from Sunrise but the thing is that Sunrise is multiple studios, 11 in fact, and Buddy Complex is being animated by Studio 8 and a completely totally different staff than Valvrave. This is frequently ignored by newfags who don't realize this and constantly bring up retarded comparisons between the two as if Sunrise doesn't do this all the time

In shorter terms: It's like watching Gundam 00 and making a thread saying how different from like Gundam Seed or something. It's like "No fucking shit?"

Literally a Solid 7 right now.

it's got everything right. It may not do it perfectly, or even very well, but it's there in a complete package

Sunrise produced it, but Valvrave was mainly an Aniplex property, so it's not really their show.
