Okay, I've been noticing this kind of shit in anime for a long time now, and I have to wonder. Does japanese culture somehow instill extreme gullibility in its people? Or is it just terrible writing that anime creators love to fall back on?

Take episode 10 of LoGH for example. This guy ambushes Yang Wenli at an airport, and has people photograph them shaking hands. Supposedly this means that a fuckton of voters instantly believe that he supports this guy's politics 100%, and for some reason Yang can't just walk up to the nearest reporter and tell them it was bullshit.

You also see this kind of insanity in anime whenever the cops show up. Guy is in the area where a crime was committed, had no motive, wasn't fleeing and there's no proof of his involvement? Obviously guilty. Sign this confession. And then they fucking sign it.

There's a hell of a lot more examples, but this is just what comes to mind at the moment. I love animu, but this shit seems to invade every series and it's slowly eroding my sanity.

You need to watch LOGH full to understand him then. But I'm surprised that you don't understand him already.

I have yet to see that example.

Some shit about social harmony or enduring hardship and abuse while maintaining your composure. It's a backward cultural thing.

They are miserable people living in a suffocating society.

Unfortunately, this is exactly how it works in reality as well. Yes, people are insanely gullible.

As opposed to what, America where they just shoot him dead and call it a day?

It's called coercion and intimation. Also, the mass are extremely gullible and easily manipulated. I don't understand how you come to any other conclusion really.

That doesn't seem implausible at all, at least it will appear like Yang Wenli supports him in some manner. Why else would he pose with him in a photo?

It's very easy to portray things in a skewed manner in media convincingly. Often people only read a subject line and look at the attached image, without reading further.

Sounds like they need another solution. We have a deal that comes in four flavors.
