What are you reading, /a/?
Rakuin no holy-shit-we're-getting-updates AKA the story of how a pleb started subverting a dead monarch personality and replacing it with his own.
Just finished volume 6 and holy shit, I can't wait for volume 7.
What a coincidence, a friend just recommended this to me.
Currently reading Horizon volume 3.
I just finished Strike the Blood v5 and don't know if I should start right in on 6 or take a break and read something else.
My backlog has like 30-40 different series in it (god knows how many volumes in total) and it's always so hard deciding on one when I want to read something new.
So far the first volume is mostly done except for the unimportant parts of the last chapter, second volume is currently on chapter 6 part 1.
Updates are erratic, so if you end up liking it prepare to suffer.
It's similar to a western fantasy novel.
The one in the middle of nowhere.
Well 12 volumes have already been translated to Chinese, so I'm doing that. Hopefully this would interest me as much as Mismarca or Vanadis.
>Well 12 volumes have already been translated to Chinese, so I'm doing that. Hopefully this would interest me as much as Mismarca or Vanadis.
Wish I could read chinese, my life would be so much simpler. Anyways, hope you have fun.
>I wish I could read Chinese so I could read the translations of Japanese books
Protip: when someone refers to something as simply "Horizon", there's a 99% chance it's the one that had been discussed on 4chan for more than two years before the other one even came to /a/'s attention.
Considering chinks also have srw games translated, then yeah.
Of course if I'm gonna read japanese media it'd be better to just straight learn japanese.
>I wish I could read Chinese so I could read the translations of Japanese books and Japanese video games
>completely ignoring the second part just so you could keep baiting me
Was about to just start that, OP. What'd you think?
It holds a nice atmosphere, something in between of Kino no Tabi and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.
>It's similar to a western fantasy novel.
The author obviously when for a western fantasy feel, with some slight scifi to go with it.
Why the translators decided to keep honorifics for a pseudo-western novel is what baffles me.
>Why the translators decided to keep honorifics for a pseudo-western novel is what baffles me.
I just tune them out when reading.
Every time I see it, it detracts from the atmosphere.
Maybe I'm just too autistic.
Nah, you'll get used to it eventually, or you could just copy and paste the chapter in Word and remove every instance of -san,-sama, etc with find&replace.
I found the second story to be a bit weak, to be honest. It wasn't bad, but it seemed to drag on near the middle.
>expecting them to fuck
>they never fuck
>some cripple bitch wants to be relevant
Aria is dead, anon.
But holy shit that Harem list.
>Madan no Ou
One day the translator will learn how to English correctly.
But apparently that day is long off.
>Aria is dead, anon.
Yeah, better put it in my hidden abandoned folder together with Shana and Spice and Wolf.
Reading F-rank no boukun by hakomari writer. It's pretty rad.
I've taken a liking to reading fanfiction recently.
I regret nothing. Going through all the shit to find a diamond is absolutely worth it.
Are you asking someone to tip his fedora to you or something?
At least he doesn't bitch when someone edits it, but appreciates it.
I couldn't stop laughing for a while when I saw this and the translators argument against someone's edits (which made it better).
Don't put words in my mouth, anon. It's rude.
The last good piece of fanfiction I read was "Lelouch of Britannia", where Lulu stays a Brit.
It manages to make Kewel relevant.
YAMATO DAMASHII STRONK
CUT BULLET WITH CONSECRATED KATANAH
Still reading fire girl, currently on vol 2.
Or has someone besides Commie started somewhere?
Would you like a cock instead?
I see that happen every now and then, and I also see edits which are clearly wrong.
Regardless, a lot of BT translators need to improve their English. The target language in translating is more important than understanding the base language, though both still quite important.
Is this SAO?
I never got if Commie is actually translating it along with F/A or what.
Anyway I'm riding zaregoto, this shit is great, anime when?
Yeah, example of one edit here.
>The Inquisitional Agency formed by government, also known as 『Antimagic Academy』.
That's simply an incomplete sentence.
>The Inquisitional Agency, formed by government, was also known as the 『Anti-Magic Academy』.
>I know first hand how proffessional translators handle the dots.
And other bullshit, I'm having a blast reading their argument.
Translator doesn't want to agree that his English is bad.
Currently waiting for the DxD v16 PDF to be released so I can start reading it at a leisurely pace.
Then I'll probably pick up something else like OnC or Rakuin
>>I know first hand how proffessional translators handle the dots.
I'm confused. What dots? Commas? Ellipses? Periods? I need some context here.
But yeah, the second one is clearly far better, but I would have put a "the" before government.
Here's most of it.
But he changed and deleted some stuff.
Oh wow. All that butthurt.
That's nothing compared to scanlator drama.
I don't think there is a translation.
It's sci-fi novel by Forest/Zvezda writer.
Is it as crazy as Forest?
I don't quite remember it by now. What one, about the planer? Can't say I loved this novel as much as Kino or YKK, but it was definitely good.
Their faces look so sharp.
Damn nigga stop reading all those shitty harems and get started on Intellectual Village.
Kamachi may play with harems out the ass, but it's still a harem. He just doesn't shove it in your face.
Also, suffering boner, etc.
>not a harem
It's only 3 volumes, I'd finish that in a day.
It's not though. The only human besides the 3 group of MCs is Madoka.
3 Kamachi volumes which are like 400 pages or twice the size of a normal volume.
FG is pretty different from his other works. It's about hiking trips on the "other" planet.
Character interactions are written in different style from most of modern lns - no stupid misunderstanding and unfunny gags.
The story is told from Homura's POV who I find quite likeable.
>Character interactions are written in different style from most of modern lns - no stupid misunderstanding and unfunny gags.
The scene where they made an open bath and let the guy in without any "hurr durr sukebeee!".
Well, this is not surprising even though it's already better than most of the recent ln.
Wow, what a pair of sluts.
I bet they already halfway to sucking one third of a million dicks.
What is this about?
>I know first hand how proffessional translators handle the dots.
This is the best sentence I've ever read.
I'll try to summarize it the best I can so bear with me:
-MC's village gets razed to the ground
-still gets fucked over by his countries own military
-ends up becoming a small-time crime-lord
-gets captured and thrown in jail
-turns out he's the spitting image of the countries prince
-gets a magical mask stuck on him to preserve it
-gets made into a gladiator for two years
-somewhere else the country's prince gets his retarded ass killed
-MC gets taken in as a replacement
-initially restricted in his movements he widens his sphere of influence
-starts subverting the image of the previous prince little by little and replacing it with bits and pieces of his own
-politics, backstabbery, war and intrigue happen
You obviously have not witnessed "I am become hitler"
Any cute girls?
Little boys are fine too.
At least you can totally follow that one up by claiming that you're making a reference to the Oppenheimer quote. I use "I am become..." all the time because of it.
Toradora right now
Have some more.
Eh.. Why does she want to murderfuck him?
a) he saved her neck that one time
b) he ruined her plans that one time
She wants to murderfuck his alter-ego.
Cyber Grandpa G
I personally like how Orba tries to balance who he thinks he is and who he thinks his other persona is.
In the latest translations, he's even having trouble distinguishing them.
That's my favorite thing about this novel, the identity crisis he's going through is a joy to watch.
Still wonder how old man Fedom meant to control him, seeing how he's a prince and all now.
>Fedom meant to control him
He wanted to use the lie that he was a disposable body double, but had nothing to back it up with so Orba figured it out. He later, I think, wanted to use Orba's real identity as a bargaining chip, but Orba knows it'd end up killing Fedom, too.
So he probably just wants to ride it out at this point. He was betting on the weak mindedness or stupidity of a stereotypical slave, but Orba's a little too smart and daring for what Fedom planned.
The man was far too hasty, best thing he can do now is support the guy, or just pretend it never happened.
Cute girls doing cute things.
>The man was far too hasty
To be fair, hiding the prince's death and replacing him was a matter of quickness. Hell, even preparing Orba years in advance to mold his face to the prince's was amazing planning ahead. If he didn't act quickly, his plan could have been compromised.
The only real fuck-up was that he chose Orba to do it, and didn't try to extinguish his anger or improve his lifestyle while he was still a slave. Basically the assumption that a random slave would listen to him obediently was pretty fucking bad.
I do remember him saying that he has to act after Gil did what he did.
Disregarding that slaves were still people capable of thinking was bad, yeah, not as if he knew anything about him though.
All in all I wish I knew moon.
Shut up, I have to read three books for my exams come monday and you don't see me bitching.
yes i do
Now you do, but it's your bloody fault I am.
>try to read a LN
Welp. Off to another one.
Twice is happenstance. Another one.
I call bullshit.
Any LNs that AREN'T harems?
How about most things in this thread you big baby.
Plenty, they just usually don't get translated. Baccano, Durarara, and Horizon are examples of translated ones, though.
There are none in this thread
