Why do anime studio's even bother making 10 episode anime?

We had NouCome last season.
Maken-Ki 2 this season.

Why do they fucking do this?

The thing with this point is the more episodes you have the lower your average cost per an episode will be keeping all else fixed. Your fixed costs like marketing, distribution, character designs, art, scenario etc one off costs will be spread over more episodes reducing average per an episode costs. Obviously overall costs increase but you get more bang for your buck.

It's mostly advertise for the show's source.
Just look how Mondaiji's LNs sales quadrupled because of the anime adaption.
S2 never.

Sure, but the variable costs are still significant.

It's worth noting that 10 episode series aren't designed to be top sellers but mostly advertisement for their source material.

If that is the case, keeping the cost down is a massive priority.
