Alright /a/, I have a bone to pick with you.
So I was just going by my daily routine right? Playing some video games, browsing /v/, trying to have healthy video game discussion that seems to have ceased to exist over there. Anyway that's when I see it, freaking Konata EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN TIME she pops up as a reaction image so I said "fuck it, let's see what's so good about Lucky Star".
So off I go, I find myself a torrent recommended by a friend and start downloading, then I go to grab a snack to eat while I watch the first episode.
So it's done, I open the folder and start to watch, and this is what I get? Ten minutes. TEN FUCKING MINUTES OF KAWAII LITTLE SCHOOLGIRLS TALKING ABOUT THE APPROPRIATE WAY TO EAT DESERTS!!? I don't know what the fuck I expected but it sure as shit wasn't this! I can't take my eyes away, it's like succubus, I can't fucking believe what I'm seeing. Now I'm up at episode 10 and I simply can't stop, I have to get to bed for tomorrow but their kawaii misadventures keep drawing me back in.
So thank you /a/, thank you for forcing this shit into my life, it's probably the best show I've ever watched.
>watching Lucky Star before watching Haruhi
one of us.
one of us.
ONE OF US.
ONE OF US.
ONE OF US!
Do people really need snacks this often? I find quite amusing to glance at how you, bunch of hedonist amoebas, are enjoying something of this world while you escape to another. Seems like it's never enough to please the useless burden that today is called "human"
So how does one eat a chocolate cornet?
All according to plan
Just so you know, Lucky Star is actually considered one of the weakest ones. Try Haruhi or K-on or Nichijou afterwards, or stuff from other people like Azumanga Daioh and Hidamari Sketch.
Every time I remember there really are people on /v/ who don't like/watch anime regularly, I get depressed.
I bet OP never even bought sausage
Lucky Star is just more slice of life than comedy, it's a choice.
Don't put Haruhi in the slice of life / comedy genre.
>tfw my first anime was also lucky star
This was the show that changed everything.
Then I watched Azumanga Daioh, Haruhi and Excel Saga in a very short period of time.
And then I went to /a/.
OP described my first experience with anime. Now I've seen over 250 shows.
I'd say most of the second part of Haruhi can fit into the SoL genre, from endless8 to the arc where they make a movie to the festival/concert episode and so on.
I wonder if this is considered a lot by /a/ standards.
Started watching anime since last summer and I'm already at 36 finished shows
So does Higurashi.
well Higurashi is also a must-watch, that we can agree on.
You've got a long way ahead of you.
/v/, I like lurking and posting about vidya gaems on your shitposting board but you have no place here.
I started spring 2013 and I have 140 watched, and I know I've hardly watched anything.
The standard's been going downhill. It used to be somewhere between 300-500, plus half a year to a year of lurking before your first post. I make no claim to being an oldfag; all this is hearsay.
I used to watch it back in the day and thought it was very entertaining.
After I came back from my vacation in Japan in august of 2007, I watched the episode where Hiyori brought her friends to Otome Road in Ikebukuro, and I realized I had been to two shops in Otome Road hiding from the rain, shops where I was amazed at the amount of BL and Yaoi doujins and other parafernalia and there being lots of women there.
While a few reference are made to Haruhi, Haruhi isn't necessary to watch before LS...
In one bite?
Haruhi is quite different from Lucky Star.
While I had seen anime before 2001, my actual first anime experience, knowing consciously they were japanese cartoons, were Love Hina and Onegai Teacher.
/a/-/v/ aside, believe me man, it would get better. I once told myself "Why am I wasting my life watching school girl do school girl things?"
But I watched it.
Dude, that's exactly how I started watching anime. Are you me?
Go watch Haruhi after that and don't you dare ask for recommendations on here when you're done with that.
>a civil /a/-/v/ moment
I never thought I'd see the day.
/a/ and /v/ are just tsun tsun with each other
LOL SHUT UP PHAGGET 420 WEED EVERYDAY
\V\ SUCKS AND SO DOES VIDEO GAYMS
The kids that try too hard to fit in are all in bed or at school.
I'd say a lot of people here used to go (or still go) on /v/ though they would never admit it.
I stopped because I kind of lost interest since my toaster can't run games very well and I have failed installing windows on it for a few times but otherwise I'd still lurk on there for the occasional half-decent thread.
>TEN FUCKING MINUTES OF KAWAII LITTLE SCHOOLGIRLS TALKING ABOUT THE APPROPRIATE WAY TO EAT DESERTS!!?
That scene literally changed my life. If it wasn't for it, I probably wouldn't be watching anime right now.
Thank you based Yamakan.
>I have failed installing windows
How are you on the internet? No, on second thought how does one fail to install windows? You just click next a few times, select drive and that's it. What the fuck?
There is something about Lucky Star that makes you feel pretty content.
I think it has that distinct sense of "nostalgia" with the feeling of SoL.
Rewatchable as hell after a few months.
Stop this. /v/ is not the same /v/ that /a/ used to be tsun tsun for.
I'm on a Macbook and I think I somehow fucked the EFI partition up.
Or maybe my Windows installation DVD didn't work, I don't know.
I'm not a retard, Windows just refuses to install on my machine.
Back when I was suffering from shit taste and thought harems is what anime was all about, I watched it. Today I feel so awkward when my imouto is watching Lucky Star, I want to forget about my past.
We're having a big thread tommorrow about it if you care to join
/a/ gets moist if you mention that you started watching moeshit.
Case closed,nothing to see here.
Am I the only person here whose first anime as animufag was Lucky Star?
Sure, I watched Cardcaptor Sakura and Pokemon when I wasn't animufag, but, welp.
Speak for yourself faggot
/v/irgin here, anime is truly a lifesaver. Vidya has been completely shelved in favor of pandering to normalfags. Only anime can give me pantsu philosophy from something currently airing.
I know the one you quoted already replied but I think he said he was trying to install it on a toaster? We all know toasters are difficult machines. Now if it's a rice cooker then it would've been a breeze. The thing installs Windows 9 the moment you unwrap the cd case.
There was a time I couldn't really stop.
I didn't like video games anymore, but /v/ was still a fun place because of how retarded everyone is.
Now it's actually so bad that I don't enjoy it anymore. The same fucking threads, all the time. You can even post an actual video game thread, and have people tell you to fuck off to /vg/ because it isn't a feminism or console war discussion. What a cesspool of cancer, fuck.
My first was Love Hina, followed by Death Note, Midori Days, Chobits, School Rumble and Get Backers.
No one can top my embarrassment.
Well, you fuckers at /v/ told me Limbo of the Lost was a good game.
>not watching your anime with beer and sausage
Now when you're done with that, watch Haruhi & The Disappearance movie, K-ON, Nichijou, and Azumanga Daioh.
WELCOME TO THE CANCER OP! THE TRUE BEGIN OF ANIMATION DOWNFALL, MERCHANDISE OVER CONTENTS, THE PERFECT MOE.
CLOSE THE PLAYER, DELETE TORRENT, RATE IT 0 STARS, BURN HDD WHIT FIRE.
seriously, luky star is the first real Moe, adapted for tv in order to sell stuff.
you have guts to say something like that on /a/, but I will support you whit all my might.
my first was Love Hina, Narusegawa saved my life.
Hey, that's a pretty nice list for a first-timer. My friend started watching anime with Green Green, we still laugh when we remember this.
>not read the VN
Compared to both Mac OSX and Linux, by far Windows has the easiest installation and UI. I have tried all 3 operating systems and Linux is by the worst and least user friendly of all.
You're one of us now. Soon you'll forget everything about video games. Welcome to /a/, and lurk more.
>beer and sausage
>not wine and cheese
Says the one who still uses wangblows in 2014.
I know, I stopped going there because people no longer talked about the videogames, every single thread was about the industry or the internet celebrities or some other shit. /v/ no longer hates videogames, they hate the videogame industry because, deep down, they are consumerist whores who love arguing about their consoles and raging at feminists more than they love playing the games.
Unlike Umineko, it can be watched and enjoyed. But, yeah, VN is a must.
I wish I could erase my memory of Lucky Star and watch it again.
I just can't describe on what makes it good.
Anon, you have no idea the type of depression I went through for a year. Imagine your first ever anime is a cheesy harem showing you the life you could have had. My teenage hormones went apeshit during the final arc when they all leave the Hinata Inn during repairs.
Ah, the good old days
why would you openly admit to being a regular at a board that's been designated for shitposting?
>wine and cheese
>not vodka and pickled herring
It's easier just because you're more used to it.
>I have tried all 3 operating systems
>thinking that Ubuntu is the only Linux distribution out there
LIVE LIEK THERE'S NO TOMORROW, EEYY OHH EEY OHH!
Lucky star is pretty bad as an all girls SOL. Try K-ON.
At least I can play games, modify my OS, modify my hardware and upgrade my parts individually having to purchase a new PC.
Mac's have superior hardware performance and OS integration, but that is as far as they go. All of it means nothing if the end user is restricted and only can use hardware/software from the manufacturer.
It's all about choice.
No, K-ON should be the SECOND thing to watch after it.
Let's not start this shit again.
whiskey and chocolate
>eating while watching animu
You're all fat, right.
Why do Linuxfags assume we only try Ubuntu? Matter of fact, Ubuntu is a resource hog and annoying to use. Linux Mint KDE was the best package I used but the bastard thing does not support my WiFi or GPU as the drivers don't work. I tried LXDE, XFCE, Pinguy OS, CentOS and Mint standard distros. None of them seem to fully support hardware on any of my notebooks or desktops. It's a colossal failure.
Been shitposting on /a/ for about 7 years, but I still have only watched about 75ish shows. Usually start a few per season then drop most of them before the end.
>not eating ohayogozaimas and dostedt while watching anime
How pleb can you get?
>I have tried all 3 operating systems and Linux is by the worst and least user friendly of all
Have you tried all DE on Linux? No?
Linux Mint is probably one of the easisest DE in the world.
>You're all fat, right.
Not with K-on! water and a nice healthy apple.
Lucky Star is honestly seriously shit. No really, it's absolute garbage. I've tried watching it so many times but I just can't stand it. It's just not doable.
However K-On is one of my favorite anime of all time. It's way better.
Meant Cinnamon instead of Linux Mint, it's just what comes prepackaged with Linux Mint.
Eri was best girl and all Yakumofags should die
are you me?
i hope you read the manga as well. it goes much further than the anime, character development is a lot better as well.
the lewd hina girls look best in manga form
I get you, I've tried to get into it god knows how many times - I've never felt time pass by so slowly. I don't know how people enjoy it.
The first four episodes suck, that's a known and established fact.
>not watching Haruhi first
Do more research fag
Try explaining to a newbie how to install and configure wine. Then how to upgrade kernels and headers then install drivers using terminal. It's a fucking nightmare.
Sounds like you were just too dumb to install drivers from the repos.
Huh, funny how that works. Why do you dislike Lucky Star?
I liked both. I also started with Lucky Star.
sudo pacman -S wine
sudo pacman -Syu
sudo pacman -S [driver]
Gee, that was so hard. Replace pacman with whatever package manager you use.
I read the manga briefly. But the climax for me was during anime when it was revealed Naru was not the promised girl. And when he moved in with Mutsumi to live with her, I felt like killing myself. My friend who gave me the Love Hina series found out about my condition and took away the Tenchi Muyo series from me before I could watch it. He was afraid I might really kill myself if I watched anymore harems.
>Try explaining to a newbie how to install and configure wine.
This doesn't define the easiness of the OS.
Windows isn't easier to use because there's more programs for it.
I judge the operating system on how easy it is to navigate around the operating system and adjust different options.
It's just so boring. I mean, look at the first episode. They're sitting for god knows how many minutes talking about how you're supposed to eat something. Sure, you shouldn't judge a show from only its first episode, but the only time I remember thinking the show was genuinely enjoyable was when she found a laeva sword in whatever MMO she was playing. That's it, and it lasted for max a minute.
I'm sure it's enjoyable to a lot of people, but personally I just found everything they did to be so boring. In K-On I find what they're doing interesting and enjoyable to watch.
Bullshit, my WiFi driver install guide was 3 pages long with assloads of commands. The fucking driver always failed when compiling.
I finally understand why /a/ acts towards /v/ like they do...
>I judge the operating system on how easy it is to navigate around the operating system and adjust different options.
I also use that benchmark. Linux is not an easy system to configure. Even basic settings like changing themes and desktop resolution takes a while to figure out.
Windows you just right click or enter control panel, everything is there. Windows wins by default everytime.
This picture is surprisingly accurate.
Don't listen to him, Arch is shit.
Eri is life. Eri is love.
Sounds like you had a shitty proprietary card or something. I still doubt that was that hard to setup. Intel's wifi works without a problem.
Woah this is spot on.
>Even basic settings like changing themes
replace reddit with /sp/ to be more accurate.
/sp/ is always trying to NTR /v/
Dostedt sounds like it would be delicious.
/g/, stop derailing pls.
Most desktop environments have the simple configuration menu.
And windows doesn't have applications divided by category.
Not just me, I went to the forums, several people have same problem. Apparently bluetooth and wifi devices keep displaying out of range or signal problem.
What wireless card was it? Some broadcom shit?
I honestly think you fags are trolling. I thought the exact same thing about the 10 min dessert talk and decided not to watch ep2.
Well the first 4 episodes were utter shit thanks to Yamakan, the saver of anime.
After that, it's much more enjoyable. But to each their own.
It is designed to sell figures.
Thats where all the money comes from.
And everything down to the character design, the settings, the stories and distractions are designed with that in mind.
/v/ & /a/ were tsun for each other way before the popularity of reddit.
The first time I saw the opening I felt so... uncomfortable and confused. While I do agree that the first episode might not be the easiest to get into if you're not familiar with the show, Lucky Star has something unexplainable that made me marathon it and finish it in a few days.
You can thank moot for that, after siphoning off a majority of legit discussion by making /vr/, the quality of /v/ took a shit. After that most good games we had left like SMT just went to /vg/ leaving /v/ to discuss Mountain Blade, Witcher, and thousands of shit games and industry blunders.
Lucky Star is overrated as fuck though.
Lucky Star is my first anime, I even watched it on youtube, each episode had 2 or 3 parts.
Looking back, I can't believe I enjoyed it.
"delicious" or "fucking oishii"? Get your shit together, mate.
Stop samefagging. Your newness is showing.
>Can't spot a newfag
Shit, I have to watch this now. One of the KyoAni shows /a/ likes that I haven't touched yet.
My first anime was Rosario to Vampire and when I was a newfag I thought animes were all the same because I used to go to yahoo answers for suggestions.
Isn't it a sound novel?
you're still a newfag
It's only caled a sound novel because Ryukishi can't draw for shit. Or rather, you have to get used to his godlike drawings.
>implying /a/ likes lucky shit
Sorry, you got it all wrong. Not many here actually likes it.
excatly - newfags just seem to think it's popular on /a/ so they pretend to like it to fit in.
Play Dragon Quest then watch it again.
It's just that I'm not a native english speaker.
But still, it should be pretty obvious that saying "animes" sounds retarded.
Go ahead, say it out loud.
>trying to pin moe fanbase on /v/
>OP samefagging like the fag he is
Such ruse. I guess this is why IRC scare exists.
Eraser end first!
Lucky Star was my first anime and by chance K-On was my second. Worked out pretty well. I started anime by reccomendations from pre-Tumblr girls and they ended up having really good taste given their gender.
Doesn't any game worth discussing have a general on /vg/ now?
I mean even shit games have generals there but that's beside the point/
Lucky star was about my 5th and I enjoyed it, a lot.
Then by chance I saw Haruhi next; I was mindblown.
The first 1 or 2 episodes of Lucky Star are pretty shit.
It gets pretty funny and enjoyable afterwards, and Konata and her interactions with her family/friends can be really great sometimes.
The fact that threads like this are now tolerated and accepted on /a/ is a fucking disgrace. I thought I'd never be the one saying this but /a/ has reached a whole new level of shit.
/a/ used to be unique amongst the drove of other communities, but it seems even the best of the best turns to shit as the popularity grows.
Sorry for the blog post. I'm just depressed that /v/ermins making posts about watching their first anime is the new standard. Fuck, there's nowhere left to go.
>Caring what board you are from
Unless you act like a fagot I really don't see the need to pin /v/ on yourself. If you are on topic who fucking cares? All this is going to do is get the /a/nons scared of the /v/ boogie man to shitpost. Unless that's what you wanted.
Tiem to save /a/
i slept through the first episode
really, i was fucking sleeping until it was close to the ending
but due to the 3 episode rule i forced myself to watch 2 more
im glad i did, because it gets pretty good from there
