>MIYAZAKI: "THE PROBLEM WITH ANIME IS THAT IT'S FILLEF WITH OTAKU (READ: AUTISTS)"

>According to the recent retiree, anime suffers because industry staff is made up of otaku who "don't spend time watching real people" and are "humans who can't stand looking at other humans."

>Miyazaki explained that animating people can only be done by those who spend time observing others, something he feels the industry lacks because its "full of otaku."

How does it feel to actively ruin a whole form of art, /a/?

I hope this isn't the case and you're trolling.

miyazaki is not fit to comment on current anime. his films and methods haven't changed since the 70's when he made various kids anime.

there is plenty of animation in japan (about the same as it was in the 70's and 80's), that is artsy and different.
>>
It feels good, we need more Maken-kis and Manyuu Hikenchous. Expel the howaitto piggu and his kauboi beboppu.
>>
I probably agree, anime has taken a major shift for the worse since around 2006.

A great example is romance series. Even if many were formulaic and cheesy they were actual romance series, and the good ones had bitersweet tones. Now the "romance" series each season are generic siscon shows or horrible abortions like golden time.

He's completely right and been saying that for decades.
Otaku anime is autism niche. Captain obvious.

Oh look, Miyazaki just told us what the anime industry has been like for over 20 years. Amazing!
>>
>Old frogers who think all animation should be family/kid friendly garbage
Surprise, fucking surprise. Doesn't help how much of a fucking westaboo Miyazaki is and the fact that westaboos are even more try hard normalfags than the average Japanese citizen. While the otaku problem is real and present, it's hardly the sole factor or even remotely close to as bad as these people think. Normalfags are too "grown up" to be caught dead enjoying animation that isn't family friendly garbage with their kids. Especially the Japanese, they don't even want Japanese stuff anymore, they want "cool, foreign" Hollywood trash without any localization or it would be too "Japanese" and "boring.
>>
He is right though. Creativity and imagination comes from actually going outside and communicating with the world and all it's beauty. You imagine things from your experiences.
>>
Exactly the same situation at Nintendo. An out of touch has been thinks a more kid friendly, socially conforming product is the answer. The problem is the general populace still views anime as Barny the Dinosaur or animated child porn. When even video games, which are ALMOST socially acceptable, still eventually fall under the criticism of not being kid friendly enough, you know there's no reasoning with these people. What anime needs is the same thing video games need, to not fucking outsource and churn out a subpar product on monthly bases then expect people to fork out a $100+ for the full experience. Of course none of these hacks would be caught alive criticizing the normalfags with the attention span of a gnat or the nickle and diming of the suits that write their cheque.

Miyazaki can go fuck him self. His movies looked nice and had some nice moments but generally the plots were pretty fucking boring.

I am glad it upsets when his cute child characters get turned into lolicon and shotacon. Can't stop the Otaku train faggot.

He hates anything that isn't the "Super Happy Safe Adventures of Dora the Explorer", if something is aimed at adults and popular enough he'll also feign interest to fit in, because he's a fucking Japanese serf to the core.
>>
I don't much care for moe, but it doesn't instantly equate to shit (just most of the time!). It sells so what do you expect? If studios had the luxury of only producing what they considered 'high art' they might thumb their noses as well, but they don't. I don't think Miyazaki has had to worry about funding for a long time, and it shows in his opinions.

>>101257174
>Exactly the same situation at Nintendo.
Trying to cater to the same guys that made the gamecube a resounding sucess and Miyamoto going senile?

Miyazaki is attacking from the position of his studio's only strength, ignoring the different budgetary and time constraints, and using it to take pot shots at a group of people that everyone already dislikes. It's like if Sweden scoffed at the educational-outcomes of the U.S., and then attributed them to "the niggers growing up and entering the educational industry." It might appeal to the prejudices of some, but it would actually be a rather inadequate explanation.

If one were inclined to trade pot shots in return, one could point out that Miyazaki's films suffer from terrible (and sometimes completely inept) writing, because his creations are inseperable from his socio-political agenda. One could further point to ineptitude of the CG in Howl's Moving Castle, and suggest that it was the result of its director being a Luddite that hated technology all along being unable to make effective use of it.
