Now that we're a good 4 years into the 2010s, what do you believe is the discernible artstyle from this era?
The A-1 style they use for iM@S, Magi, SAO, Vividred e.t.c
Isn't it 5 years? I've noted a lot of variation in outline color,, and a general softness in said outlines and general color as well. I also think it's getting a little more colorful than it's been for a while lately. I find the currently airing Mikakunin de Shinkoukei very distinctively 10's.
You should look into this thread, it's one of the best I've seen on /a/ in a long time: https://archive.foolz.us/a/thread/95445175/#95461503
>Isn't it 5 years?
10 + 4 = 14
10 = year 1
11 = year 2
12 = year 3
13 = year 4
14 = year 5
That's 5, anon.
We've only gone through four full years though. 2014 isn't in full swing yet.
We're still 5 years into the 10's. We're not 5 years through, but it has been 5 years since the 2010's of the Gregorian calendar/AD/CE began. There are 2014 shows airing so I think this year is countable.
A lot more broken lips, making the most out of that negative space instead of needing thick black outlines to discern when the boundaries of someone's facial features are.
Generally realistic proportions. Pure black pupils seem to be getting rarer.
I feel like, where as the 00's tended to have more earthy hair colors, in the 10's they are leaned slightly toward a more lively color. Blonde might be in the orange or yellow range rather than light tan, and dark brown may be closer to red or purple than normal.
I'm going to be honest and admit I have no idea what the 10s style is, it looks like the 00s to me.
Smaller eyes in general than the 00's, thank god.
Indeed. I don't want to see something in the style of a Key VN again. Doesn't it feel like noses are coming back a little too, but in a tasteful way unlike the 90's arrows?
A lot of early to mid-00's anime had this dull, wash-out color scheme (see picture). We're slowly getting more and more striking colors in our anime like the 90's, which I like honestly.
It's very petty, but one of the reasons I postponed watching Steins;Gate for so long was because the color scheme reminded me of anime from a decade earlier.
Oh man, I remember that thread. Posting the picture for great justice.
Fuck that, we need to go back to SMJ-levels of eye size
I was the first post in that thread. I'm famous.
