So, PV when?
Is this Penguinbear?
That style seems very familiar...
>doing gay stuff
Stop the press!
Furry yuri shit
A gay bear?
who would've guessed.
Fuck I was hoping it was an Ikuhara original.
2014 is the year of Yuri isn't it.
Only need YrYr season 3 and 2014 will be the best year ever.
You know he is still writing it.
So it will be full of fucking?
Don't worry they'll all go straight by the end
Considering it's Ikuhara I wouldn't be surprised.
with some luck
It's a tie-in to promote the original anime.
It's like you're new or something.
you betcha it is!
we might get closer in seeing that PV
Guess this means the original character designs are by Kinako.
>Ikuhara and Morishima partner up
This is the stuff dreams are made of
This kinda fits that rumor that says the anime will air in July, I guess. This is kinda how Penguindrum worked out, we slowly got reveals over the course of a few months.
Will Ikuhara actually deliver on the yuri this time? Or just more torture?
Yeah, I remember waiting eagerly for the Penguin CMs around May 2011.
Do you doubt Morishima?
Well, at the very least, it won't be as straight forward as it seems.
Who is animating? Brain's base?
Anime hasn't been announced (yet).
>inb4 it's just the character's name.
Morishima Akiko ?!! It has to be yuri ! Come on, Ikuhara !
Ikuni-chan is pretty great as a director but he can't write for his life
>Not Hideaki Anno
Are you retarded? Jewnno has nothing with manga
Holy shit the character designer is Akiko Morishima. I'm in two ways since it Ikuhara.
What the fuck? Another yuri series? It seems like 2014 is indeed the year of yuri. Satsuki was just fignered by her mother in KlK.
Well, Ikuhara want to make SKU into canon yuri but the mangaka Chiwa Saito didn't leave him. SKU was a tie-in project so Saito had the right to ban the yuri. I doubt Morishima would have any problem with yuri. The only issue would be the producers
Expect a Princess Tutu end at best
I don't care about this anime, but I'll read anything put out by Akiko Morishima. Her stuff always walks the line between realistic lesbian manga and cutesy wish-fulfillment yuri perfectly, and her style is adorable.
>Holy shit the character designer is Akiko Morishima.
She's just doing the manga. There's nothing that says she has a hand in the designs.
I hope their designs in the anime will be similar.
>yfw Ahiru and Fakir never gave a kiss or declare their feelings for each other
>yfw Ahiru was technically in love of Mytho until the last episode
It's like Fakir and Ahiru were made for "yuri" anime.
Awwww come on. Can't you let a little girl dream.
Well, she is doing the manga character design
This is getting ridiculous. Hopefully this will be something like Gargantia or EVA were with the manga running simultainously.
That's what Utena was like, too.
That was a mixed media project so I'd say it's different. With EVA or Gargantia the manga was made to promote the animation.
I still doN't know how to feel about this.
>Guess this means the original character designs are by Kinako.
It's Makinako Ikunigo, and he's credited for the story (Morishima is doing the artwork). I think it's a pen name for Ikuhara though.
Ikuhara needs a writer or at least a strong 2nd writer that can edited his bullshit and help him to focus on his good ideas. MPD had plenty of good ideas but also a lot of bullshit that turned the show into a clusterfuck during 2nd half
1. Morishima also made some het stuff, even if she's wel known for yuri.
She even contributed het story to MPD anthology.
2. Yuri here is written in kana, so it's most likely not "yuri" as in GL.
Meaning, curb your enthusiasm. Big names do not mean guaranteed quality. MPD went full trainwreck in 2nd half. SD was all style and no substance. Rebuild is a prophanation.
>She even contributed het story to MPD anthology
What pairing? Japan lost its shit with ShoumaxRingo but for some reason I think she'd prefer a more shoujo-like couple like KanbaxHimari
> Ikuhara and Morishima
YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS OH MY GOD YESSSSS YESSS
I WAS BORN FOR THIS
I just remembered this interview:
>Q: Ikuhara-san, Utena and Sailor Moon are two of the most popular anime amongst yuri fans. Do you intentionally include shoujo-ai subtexts in your work?
>A: No. I'm still able to make a story where it's between a boy and a girl. But I feel irritated to see my girl getting together with some other guy. I've tried to kill off Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon many times. But no matter how many times I tried to kill him, he gets resurrected so I only get angrier. So I decided it would be way better if the girl just didn't have a boyfriend to begin with. Of course I'm just kidding. In reality, if I have a guy in the show, the love relationship gets to have a bigger role than the show. And that would be an interesting element, but I wouldn't want that to make that the scene-stealer of the show. Most other shoujo shows are in that direction. It's about who-and-who are getting together, or who-and-who are breaking up. I thought it would be a loss if that would be the big motif just because a girl was the main character. I think there could be more shows with other motives than that.
"MPD anthology" caught my eye and I decided to go check. Some non-yuri works are indeed listed on mangaupdates, but, say, her pixiv has nothing Penguindrum related.
