So now that he's pretty much on his last leg, who's going to be Japan's next best director?
Mamoru Hosoda or Makoto Shinkai?
Wow moot, 10/10
He'll never die. He'll be the best forever.
He looks pretty young in that picture though.
Hosoda's works are much, much more successful in Japan.
Excellent Excellent Excellent. Fantastic. Bravo. Well Done.
>Shut up, shut up. Screw it we'll do it live!
I would love to see Bill O'Reily direct children's cartoons.
But is it better? Shinkai's Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo felt like a Ghibli film down to the use of western mythology.
Yeah, he's a grampa now.
Why do we all have to age?
As annoying as the image swap glitch is, it's pretty fucking hilarious sometimes.
Abe shall direct Japan into the future!
He's already got a children's book.
Bob Beckell should've been on here
I actually read it as a kid. It was honestly the very first time I realized I hate republicans.
Hahaha oh my fucking god.
Is that in the archive? That's fucking hilarious.
Holy shit moot. 10/10
The one and only.
Some where in /pol/ is an image of Miyazaki.
Oh god, now I have to go see.
Shinkai sucks balls. The only good part about his films are the art. His stories are terrible.
Holy shit I'm dying.
Finally, a chance to use this.
I wanna see an anime directed by Bill O'Reilly now.
yeah pretty much this.
Though you have to credit for act 1 & 2 of "5 wallpapers per second" which was decent in my opinion.
Have you actually seen the movie? I'll agree 5cm/s, the one he's known for was a boring snoozefest. But Garden of Words and Children who chase lost voices were very well done.
What about The Place Promised in Our Early Days?
I have confidence that Takahashi will make a return, someday.
Holy shit, i just saw Wolf Children and with this i can say Hosoda is the best right now...
It´s so heartwarming
I really enjoyed that one as well, but it's been years since I've seen it, so all I can really say is I liked it, but I can't argue any points for or against.
5 cm/s > Garden of Words = Children who chase Voices = Beyond the clouds > Hoshi no Koe
Okay, normally I'm not a fan of fanservice shit, but since that's so fucking hilarious I'm gonna pick up Sakura Trick.
I enjoy Shinkai's films more on average, but as far as replacing based O'Reilly, Hosada is the way to go, especially since Miyazaki's movies are usually meant to have a broad appeal.
>Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo felt like a Ghibli film
I like Shinkai and don't think much of Miyazaki but Hoshi o Ou Kodomo did feel like a poor man's Miyazaki film to me personally.
I still own the BD anyway but Shinkai should stick to 5cm type films. And overall I enjoy Hosada more than Shinkai. There should be room for both of them at the top though, their film styles don't encroach on each other.
In other words, it felt like a Goro Miyazaki movie.
I just can put words to it
This movie made me so happy and warm
>Doing some background research on Goro
>Found the author's response to his first movie
>"Ms Masako Shimizu, knew Mr Hayao Miyazaki, I asked her to tell him that, if he was still interested in Earthsea, I would welcome talking with him about a film."
>"In August 2005... It was explained to us that Mr Hayao wished to retire from film making ... the studio wanted Mr Hayao's son Goro, who had never made a film at all, to make this one."
>" We were given the impression ... the project would be always subject to Mr Hayao's approval. With this understanding, we made the agreement."
>"We realised soon that Mr Hayao was taking no part in making the film at all."
>"I am sorry that anger and disappointment attended the making of this film on both sides of the Pacific Ocean."
>"I am told that Mr Hayao has not retired after all, but is now making another movie. This has increased my disappointment. I hope to put it behind me."
Do people only hate 5cm because it's popular?
Nice bait, I love Shinkai, but I believe 5cm/s was by far the worst thing he did.
I'm just going to ignore everything you post because I disagree with you
At least your honest about it. This is 90% of discussions on /a/.
I still cry everytime i remember that she wasn´t there after the train passed
Oh wait ;-;
Paprika was mediocre. Millennium Actress was pretty good though.
I think Perfect Blue is his best work
Perfect Blue > Millennium Actress > Tokyo Godfathers > Paranoia Agent > Nonsensical garbage > Paprika
no it just wasn't that good relative to his other works. the children who chase lost voices or foot fetish: the movie were much much better
meant for >>101190121
At least your image wasn't swapped with porn, OP. Got a 3 day ban for moot's fuck up last week for a thread that swapped and I couldn't even fucking delete it.
This is accurate.
So close, yet so far.
Paprika > Perfect Blue > Millennium Actress > Tokyo Godfathers > Nonsensical garbage > Paranoia Agent
>Ahead of anything
I don't understand the hate for it. Do you have any criticisms other than "it sucks"?
Someone's never done drugs.
>Foolz corrects the Swap
Holy shit, Moot
I, for one, welcome our new conservative Irish American animu director.
I want more.
