General manga thread.
What'cha reading, /a/? What are you hoping gets translated?
Joshi Kouhei, by Matsumoto Jiro. No one's picked it up yet.
Just finished Oyasumi Punpun
Kind of disappointed by the last few chapters, but overall a great manga
Waiting on Hox to finish translating Ashita no Joe now that he's done with Punpun. The wait is suffering but I asked for it.
I'm reading Yozakura Quartet and I'm loving it. All girls are 10/10.
>no Yandere Kanojo releases in months
>no Sengoku Youko releases in months
>no Spirit Circle releases in months
Just started on Jisatsutou/suicide island, and I just caught up to the latest chapter of that webtoon Afterschool War Activities, it's pretty good
So happy Shut Hell is being translated again.
Hoping for more Murasakiiro no Qualia to get done.
Waiting for the next chapter of Yumekui Merry
Any news on Voynich Hotel?
Considering how Dowman has recently resumed work on Nickelodeon, you can expect to see new chapters for this as well soon. At least the translations are up to date with the material
>meanwhile, Tsugumomo already at Vol.11 in nippon
>Still at vol.4 at Batoto
i cant remember the series plz help.
a very young researcher takes a job at a girls high school and gets a harem?one of the girls is smart like him or something
Here you go anon http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/a-method-to-make-the-gentle-world-r80
At least someone's translating it, even if it's a chapter a month.
This part was one of the very few non-h series that could actually give me a boner.
I want more.
how come i'm always reading diamond no ace when these threads appear?
oh well, i also started catching up with conan, but that'll take a while, and maybe i'll take a break since it's starting to bet too formulaic.
3 chapters of Diamond no Ace got released if someone is interested
Tsugumomo is boring.
Everyone wants more.
Post a good pic in a OPT and people will literally SHIT on you for reminding them about this manga and how it is an INJUSTICE that it is not being translated quickly enough.
I'm trying to learn moon just to read this fucking manga.
Slogging my way through Steel Ball Run
I feel like it's taking me longer to read this then 1-6 combined
I'm rereading kyou kara ore wa
even a second time through it's just such a fun ride
Sorry to have to ask, but I am also looking for a manga I just can't remember the exact name of.
It had "wolf" in the name an was about a gate that travelers would pass through. The keeper of the gate was an official who was notoriously cruel and would kill or torture people he suspected of being traitors to the country.
Fucking terrible description but I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about?
>What'cha reading, /a/?
Ryushika Ryushika and Yotsuba. I'm caught up on everything else, but anxiously awaiting more translations for Non Non Biyori, Barakamon, Yuru Yuri, and Nochijou. Also One Piece.
>What are you hoping gets translated?
Kodomo no Jikan - Houkago and Candy Pop Nightmare.
I'm surprised it was mentioned this early in the thread. Good taste!
Sometimes, anon, people like to read a series not because it's extremely interesting, but because it's funny, and makes the Lil' Anon down south happy. And can you blame a man for that? I'm not pretending it's a masterpiece, here.
>What'cha reading, /a/?
A bunch of stuff, I lost count long ago. But the thing that's currently making me very happy is Jitsu wa Watashi wa, why don't we ever talk about it?
There's a gender swapped arc where towel rapes people.
Thank you so much.
Why not story time it? There's another anon who story times all the time.
Marathoned all of Homuclus the other day. The first few arcs were super compelling, but the last arc went over my head a little bit. Still enjoyed it a lot though. Very cerebral, in a quite literal sense.
Also I suddenly felt like working on some more Sumire 17-sai. We'll see how that turns out.
And we'll get there in a couple years at this rate.
>working on some more Sumire 17-sai
Seriously? I didn't know that someone is trying to work on that.
Not scanlations, that's for sure. I'm sick of the garbage quality that 99% of manga is released in.
Now I actually buy manga and I don't know if I can ever go back to scanlations. The improvement in quality is just too huge. I just wish Viz would lower their fucking prices a bit. $6.99 for a digital volume is a bit too much. $4.99 would be a lot more reasonable.
Dude, there's a thread about it everytime there's a new chapter. They're just not 400 posts long is all.
I was born lazy, I wanted to story time Birdmen and elDLIVE and never could find myself will to come around and do it. I suck.
I'm not falling for that again.
Agree with this post 100%
>All those things you will never read since no one will localize it.
and then there's this purist asshole thanks for nothing.
I enjoy it. And expect a great future for it.
Yeah, someone storytimed it about a month ago, and I tried my best to slam out some translations page by page, and another anon was TL checking for me. It's not particularly hard, but sometimes I get stuck on a line, and only come back to it when I feel like it. I'm almost finished with chapter 14 right now, but I haven't polished any of my scripts at all, and I haven't translate the SFX yet. Maybe I'll give it to an editor when I'm confident enough.
> The improvement in quality is just too huge.
If only you knew what you were missing either way.
Sounds like you already fell for it.
Time to start learning Japanese!
but the scanlation is still on hiatus,
I didn't know that. Fuck everything.
There was a new chapter last month, but it was pretty low on word count, so who knows when the next one might be.
Yes that is the big drawback but I am fine with that.
He's lying. There's just literally 2 guys doing it and they have some sort of perfection complex. It took them a month to "translate" the last chapter and it had no dialogue.
Currently reading this
Lets do something more interesting:
What did you drop and why?
>obvious rec thread
Truly the worst.
>What'cha reading, /a/?
What are you hoping gets translated?
>2 years since the last released
Hold me, /a/.
I dropped Hunter x Hunter 2 years ago.
Prison School, because is shit.
Dropped Yamada and the Seven Witches. Don't remember why exactly, just didn't like the direction it was going in.
Can I ask why? I was thinking on starting to read it. Is it not good'
>What'cha reading, /a/?
Just finished Garouden
>What are you hoping gets translated?
Yamikin Ushijima-kun and Karakuri Circus
I'd do them myself but that's an awful lot of work and I'm awfully lazy.
I drop a lot of shit for having a great premise at the beginning, but then going full retard with the plot in the middle.
Today I dropped Deadman Wonderland because I literally had no idea what the fuck was going on with their powers and how they needed to go beyond the speed of sound.
Asamiya-san no Imouto. Dropped it around ch.5 after shit had started going all ghibli on me and I couldn't be assed to bother with such a plot again.
How do I into Getter Robo Manga
I dropped Pandora Hearts, monthly release.
Togashi forced me to.
Wrong use of general. Rec threads are fine for manga, and no one is bothering anyone. Unrelated, does anyone know if Nekimaki Kagyu scans are ever going to pick up?
It's great, don't listen to him. Some of the most creative paneling I've ever seen.
But the plot is finally going somewhere.
Really? A lot of people have said that they don't like the "direction" it was going. Even the scanlators said that, but I think the story is great. Also Shiraishi is adorable as fuck. Even if it gets weird I'll stick around for her.
Didn't even finish the first chapter. The art style really grates me for some reason, I find it intrinsically obnoxious, yet for some reason I can handle SnK just fine.
I keep forgetting to e-mail my list of titles to order from the guy with all the gay manga, has anyone here bought anything from him?
Nothing much, nothing ever updates other than the shonen that I'm reading ;_;. Recommend me some mango, I already read all that was in the rec charts, finished if possible.
Just finished the second volume of Innocent by Sakamoto Shinichi and Ibara no Ou by Iwahara Yuji. Both have great art styles.
Now I'm going to start reading Hikaru no Go.
deaf chick, not that good.
>recommend me manga
>doesn't even post interests
People like you are why rec threads are given a bad name.
Battle Royale, all the characters are terrible and eveything's just too over exaggerated. And it's not the fun over exaggerated like Go Nagai or Takayuki Yamaguchi manga.
Does yamada and the seven witches has to get an anime for someone to scanlate it?
There's so little good shounen right now that I'm currently drowning in LN adaptations. Is hell.
Mushibugyo translations are coming out slowly but nicely, and I like Cerberus though some anons here dislike it.
But someone is scanlating it.
I'm fine with reading any kind of manga, if you want to know my favorites are Franken Fran, 20th century boys and Prunus Girl to name a few from the top of my head.
You're missing out
Is Innocent only downloadable on the scan group's site?
>Paranoia Street‘s story follows the fantastically absurd exploits of a wannabe detective and his female assistant who roam the Japanese countryside looking for work.
Thanks, seems interesting. Guess I'll add it to my suffering general.
It's more like if Furuya Usamaru wrote SZS.
Paranoia Street is by Kago though...
Hey anon, it's your lucky day, MU just announced a new chapter of the series
I know. It's just a simile.
>What are you hoping gets translated?
The World is Mine. Anything else by Hideki Arai.
>tfw it's been 4 years since the last release of TWIM.
centaur worries, too many worries I only picked it up because it's on the fwpa.
Reading Hanamaru Kindergarten, hoping the rest gets translated.
Just finished reading all of the translated chapters of D-FRAG! I'm hoping the rest gets translated.
Boys on the Run because of 20th century boys.
Himitsu no Akuma-chan because of Prunus Girl
because you love boy cocks.
Which charts? Some of them are large, although I think you are supposed to ignore the series that aren't highlighted in this one.
I've never seen this version of the chart. Apparently this is just a list of everything one guy has read, with his recommendations highlighted. That's why it has a ton of shit series on it.
im waiting my whole life for the second volume of "a girl by the sea" to get translatted
Hilarious dark 4-koma about a mind reader.
>Ore ga Heroine
Pretty good for harem stuff.
Half decent crazy fight? school? whatever it was thing.
>Sen to Man
Mildly amusing father and daughter slice of life.
Greatest male shoujo lead of all time.
It's got a top tier loli.
Hard core pen and paper girls. It requires HUGE translator notes to make any sense, but I'm enjoying it.
Over the top love comedy. It made me laugh but a lot of it comes across as trying too hard.
Sports shounen, drags a lot, needs a larger female presence, and has big boring swatches, but I still enjoyed it a bit.
Gender swap stuff isn't normally for me, but I like the art for some reason and I think I'll have to read it just to find out Loki's gender.
>Himitsu no Akuma-chan
Is that the devil one? Is he getting the dick already?
Corpse Party: Blood Covered
Koe no Katachi
Just finished my second reading of Onani Master Kurosawa, too, and trying to find something similar
I'm currently reading Imawabi no Dakini, Boku ni Koisuru Mechanical, and Shuumatsu no Maristella
Currently reading Hajiotsu, and Knights of Sidonia.
And looks like I'll be finishing PunPun tonight, I thought the takubon was just released? Hox 2fast5me.
no 7seed there?
Rereading Punpun from the beginning so I can finish it.
I fell asleep while reading the first volume on my tablet and ended up having really fucked up weird dreams about Punpun's childhood friends and was trying to remember if the stuff I dreamed actually happened in the manga. It was strange.
>no Yandere Kanojo releases in a month
>no Sengoku Youko releases in a month
>What'cha reading, /a/? What are you hoping gets translated?
Reading JoJo SBR. Man the D4C part is really good!
Forever no Gunner translation...
Oh hey my list.
>Apparently this is just a list of everything one guy has read.
Yup. It's gotten so big over the years that I don't just use it for recommendations anymore; I pretty much need it to remember the names of some series. I've been updating it ever couple months since way back when we had the threads were the original /a/ manga charts were made.
I haven't read it. I may in the future, but I've never been a big fan of man vs nature stuff.
Only thing I've read in the last couple weeks was Gakkou Gurashi because I saw someone dumping it while I was taking a break from work.
>I already read all that was in the rec charts
I sincerely doubt that.
Reading? Just catching up on some stuff. Horimiya, Voynich Hotel.
A crap load of stuff. Most recently Yuureitou probably. It just got really dragged out and dull.
i hope you would, it might not be the most realistic but they are kind of logical, and wait till you get to the big ship. oh wait till there, i recon it's the best "WAKE UP!!" scene ever,
>Kabu no Isake
And now I'm catching up with that as well.
I put it on my 'maybe read in future' list, but that doesn't mean much. There's stuff that's been on that list since 2006 that I haven't gotten around to yet.
Good eye. I totally didn't notice that. Thanks. The first volume and the containing folder both shared that typo.
not yet. But he'll get over his faggotry.
may your life be free and abundant enough to the time to fulfil your oath to the list,
>waiting for translation
Nothing. Learn japanese.
>There's stuff that's been on that list since 2006 that I haven't gotten around to yet.
Every couple of months I find bookmarks to incredible stuff that I found when I was a pleb. It's crazy, maybe my taste was never that shit. Although there's still loads of trash.
Dowman sayman is the most amazing mangaka I'm ever seen. His stories are filled with everything from comedy to philosophy with all sorts of random sex in between. I really thinks he's the mangaka of a generation, he can do more in 8 pages then what a lot of mangaka do (or don't) in 40
- Kimiiro Focus. Dumb & hilarious harem manga with an amazing MC. Too bad it sort of ends like it was cut off, I wanted more. Club President best girl.
- Video Girl Ai. I understand why the OVA ends the adaptation after the third volume. After the first arc, it's... ugh. I'll never understand Katsura, he's able to write amazing stuff when he feels like it, but when he's at his worst it's awful.
- Tokyo Ghoul. It keeps betraying my expectations in a good way. Nice.
- Übel Blatt. I should drop this piece of shit. It's complete masochism at this point.
- Kangoku Gakuen. Delicious loli Vice Prez.
>there's still loads of trash.
I still read trash sometimes. Trash can be good.
Yeah, sure. But fuck, there's a bunch of generic ecchi harems still around there somewhere.
I want the little witch to fall in love with the boy, but I don't want her to lose her powers. Why does Gabriel and Michael have to be such jerks ;_;
One man's trash is another man's treasure they say.
I don't mind reading generic shit as long as I don't find it insultingly bad. Shoujo is an exception. Reading awful shoujo is a type of torture.
My golden rule is always comedy. if a series can't AT LEAST be funny behind all of it's shit, It's just pure garbage to me.
For instance; I like Prision school but don't like TLR
The only series I ever dropped was shoujo. I forget the title but it was about this 15 year old girl whose new step brother was constantly, and seriously, trying to rape her. Then they introduced his father and the idea that being a rapist was genetic. Then he kept saving her from getting raped by his dad and she falls in love with him, and fuck me I stopped reading that even though dropping something causes me physical discomfort.
After putting it off for fucking years for fear of having my emotions violated, I finally finished Gunslinger Girl.
Now I just feel so.... empty.
Hold me, /a/
>It's complete masochism at this point.
I hear ya.
Prison School is genuinely great though.
It's hard to imagine the same author made 'Me and the devil blues'
Well, he started his carrer with comedy. Me and the Devil Blues is the odd one.
>raws up to chapter 23
>only up to chapter 14 translated
Mahou Tsukai no Yome
Yuusen Shoujo ~Plug-in Girl~
I still have a bunch but those are the most recent ones I've been reading.
>There was a new chapter last month, but it was pretty low on word count
And that chapter took over a month maybe longer to get out and it was just the translation for 2 goddam poems about fucking pudding that set it back so long.
>Yuusen Shoujo ~Plug-in Girl~
>Scans up to ch13 but translations once in a blue moon
>Knights of Sidonia
How is that; worth picking up? I was a big fan of that back in the day. And fuck do I regret not buying volumes 4 and 6 back in the day.
Give me some heart hurting romance stuff or some reverse trap stuff
The one with that JUSTICE girl, the one that /a/ loves a lot and got announced for an anime. Forgot the name and I'm too lazy to remember.
Most recently, I dropped the one with cute girls in a zombie apocalypse. I don't know, the SoL bits didn't really work well with me for some reason. I don't know if it's the mood but it just doesn't click for some reason. You can't have a :3 and cute and then go grim, it just doesn't work well.
I need to pick myself to read more manga but I'm far behind this season anime and on my book backlog that I don't think I can do shit.
Finished up Ping Pong tonight. So hyped for the anime adaption that I downloaded the 2002 live action movie.
For the most part it looks like a decent adaption of the manga, the characters look similar and it's got that raw energy found in the manga.
Might hop on the Pun Pun bandwagon and marathon it since it's finished and I bought a volume one in Japanese recently, might do the same with Rozen Maiden too since that ended recently.
Last series finished.
>Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer.
Quite a nice series, it knew exactly when and where to end too which is a good call from the mangaka, the final battle with the 12 Golem felt anti-climatic as hell but the fight with Animus made up for it. I also liked the little shout outs to psychology in this series.
Current reads are.
>Diamond is Unbreakable.-
Not bad so far, I like the Twin Peakes-esque vibe it gives off, Jotaru feels much more like an actual character in this one compared to Startdust when he was just a bunch of walking catch phrases.
Pretty good so far, the art work is a little hard to tell what's happening at points, it's really reminiscent of Lost.
K-On has a manga?
It was based on a manga but I heard the original source material isn't that great.
I should note that The World God Only Knows is on hold until the Jupiter arc finishes.
K-On is a manga adaptation. Isn't it?
I didn't know that. I was actually one of those who hated cute moeshit and kyoani until I picked up Hyouka. I haven't got around watching K-On because I'm not really fond of music oriented anime I'm saying this because of the main characters are holding guitar and such. I'm currently downloading K-On manga.
Still praying that one day someone will do the last few chapters of Near Equal.
Even if the end is boring and dissapointing I want to see it.
>Music oriented anime
just end Historie. Fuck, that was great, I hope to see more coming from the translator. Is kingdom any good?
Can someone tell me what Punpun is "about", without spoilers? Is that possible? I see it come up enough around here that I'm interested.
I've started reading Assassination Classroom, and so far I'm liking it
It's about a kid growing up. Bad shit happens to him, but it's only he himself which makes everything worse.
Just wishing there was more source material for Dungeon ni Deai. With what's been put out in just a year I'd assumed it was on a monthly release schedule, but no.
Yeah thanks /a/
Who knows, maybe the novels will get a translation one day.
Reading Jojo part 3 and about to catch up to Otomari Honey. OH is so cute I swear.
It follow the life of your average everyday guy in modern Japan, from his innocent childhood full of hopes and fears growing in a dysfunctional family, through his adolescence and early adulthood filled with bitterness and resentment (towards himself, most of the time), as he struggles to find meaning in his life and desperately chases the shadow of his childhood crush. A coming-of-age story, if you will.
Expect lots of important side characters, INTROSPECTION, surreal moments, SUFFERING and dark humor.
Well this finally happened, which was sort of nice.
Not sure why I still read it but oh well.
I finally started Detective Conan.
Man is it good. I would have never expected to like it nearly as much as I do.
its you anon, it is the story of your life ;_;
Yowa pedal volume 10 is out, wasnt expecting this
Kono Oto Tomare !
I need more scanlations now...
It's the life of Punpun.
a kid growing up dealing with a weird world
I just finished Blame. I don't think I really understood it completely, but I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the more engrossing manga I've ever read.
I'm after something light now, so I just picked up Comic Studio since it's getting translated again.
I'm reading through blame now, on Chapter 19. I don't understand what's going on
Nihei's "easiest" manga to understand is Knights of Sydonia if you're interested.
Beyond trying to wrap my brain around whatw as happening plot-wise, it seemed like there were so many pages where I just went "What the fuck am I looking at?" Definitely had to take my time with it.
I'll be picking up this or Biomega out of his stuff next, probably. Leaning toward Biomega since the world of Blame is still fresh in my mind. Also it was a bummer to see that Illuminati dropped Sidonia since it got licensed and now scans are four volumes behind.
Blame! really doesn't have a concrete story so it's normal.
Reading Aoi Hana. It's very nice. Love the realism and Shimura's beautiful art.
Scans will pick up when the anime airs next season.
Check these out
Blame spin-off + sequel
Based on what? It was dropped because the English publisher requested it, so I'm not that confident someone else will pick it up must because of the anime.
Mangaupdates may show 7 volumes, but we got 10
Oh shit, so I guess the Vertical scans got uploaded? I thought it would be like JManga or other publishers where the content never sees the light of day after being licensed. Disregard my posts then, thanks.
How many physical manga do you have?
None, too expensive to import
Random volumes of Parasyte
Blame - Missing Volume 4
Random volumes of Love Hina and Chobits
55 manga, but I probably have 400+ italian comics.
Oh and 1-5 of Ai Yori Aoshi
2. And I got them last month.
My uni room is like 10 square feet large and I live here for about 70% of the year, so I don't have room to collect physical books and merchandise.
This is why I don't buy a lot. There needs to be a centralized service for digital manga.
>What are you reading?
Kingdom. God, that manga is getting good. It started off somewhat cliched, but ended being my favourite read atm.
Mougu is the strongest in all China!
You mean like what CR is trying to achieve?
Impatiently awaiting Itoshi no Karin updates
CR devs please.
Their shit looks horrible so no.
I did say trying.
Beelzebub, waiting for Chapter 237 to be translated
Why would you buy manga if it's digital? You might as well download it. There's no difference.
Man you're not kidding.
Except there's still a bunch of things that aren't downloadable.
Moreso as a way to give the mangaka some money.
The mangaka gets money only if you buy his stuff in Jap.
anyone have great surgery/medicine manga to read?
I read Jin, Iyruu: TMD and other bits but I want to have some of that surgeon action
Groundhog day scenarios are personal liking for me but I haven't found much. Theres obviously Again!!, Ore ga doutei, and others but there isn't all that much
Viz put up a bunch of shit on B&N. And lots of that isn't online. You can't even find the last 3(?) volumes of Detroit Metal City and they've been published for years physically.
1-33 of English Berserk
34 and 37 of Japanese Berserk
1-4 of JoJo part 3 in English
1-3 of Pluto
5 of Shonan Junai Gumi, as in only volume 5 for whatever reason
1-25 of GTO
JoJolion 2 and 3
Saint Seiya 3
a Fist of the North Star Viz release without a volume number called Night of the Jackal
4 volumes of Gegege no Kitaro in Chinese
Vol 11 of Punpun
the first Viz Big of Vagabond
What a Wonderful World vol 1 and 2
King of Wolves by Miura
Japan by Miura
Welcome to the NHK 2-3
Old Boy 1-2
So just shy of 90. As you can tell I've bought kinda at random over the years. Sometimes I'll go to Kinokuniya in San Francisco and just get the newest volume of the Japanese version that's out, which is why I have SBR 24, JoJolion, and Punpun. When I had more money to spend I bought the first few volumes of JoJo, Pluto, Dorohedoro, and some others. If I find random deals at thrift stores, secondhand bookstores, or convention swap meets I'll buy some which is how I got HnK, Pineapple Army, and Saint Seiya. Then some are borrowed but forgotten by friends who no longer care about manga like Old Boy. Oh, and the Guts figma came with a special edition of vol 37, which is how I ended up with that despite not having everything between it and 34.
is there anyway to rip your manga list from MAL and shove it into excell?
I totally forgot about this. I'm sorry.
Just finished Punpun.
I was expecting Punpun to commit suicide.
>Groundhog day scenarios are personal liking for me but I haven't found much. Theres obviously Again!!, Ore ga doutei, and others but there isn't all that much
Read Boku dake ga Inai Machi.
There's a way to download your list, not sure if it's in excel form though. I know some other anime/manga list sites can use that to build a list there though. Go to view list and "export" is in the top middleish area.
hmm it gives me an XML file.
my MAL manga list has been loading a bit slow so I was considering putting it into excel instead to save me some trouble.
Its gotten ridiculously long to do i manually too, even though I only update it when I start reading new stuff or finish
yea I've been reading that. Too bad scans ded
I'm reading Kanata Kara right now.
Maison Ikkoku is very fun
Oh man this shit is dangerously cute.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
May cause multiple heart attacks
>hurr durr Faggot McFaggot Company licensed this manga, so we're dropping it
Why are scanlators such moralfags when it comes to manga licenses? Let me fucking read the end of the manga so I can decide if it's worth buying first.
Not to mention the fact that it often takes years for the official translation to catch up with where the scanlations stopped.
I read the first volume of Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa. So far, I'm not impressed. The chapter plots are way too formulaic, and all the second-hand embarrassing moments are annoying like they are in WataMote.
WataMote was a comedy though. I legitimately felt bad for the guy in Kurosawa because all he had were good intentions but got fucked over at every turn.
I really need to finish it though.
Cease and desist.
The last few volumes are worth going through the earlier ones, arguably a bit weaker but serving to build Kurosawa's character I suppose.
And then you'll cry like a bitch at the final volume.
Just started Eyeshield21, brety gud so far.
>v.2 c.10 by Nayuki_Love & Manga-Cat Scanlations (0d ago)
Someone out there cares, anon.
This is just fucking crazy.
that is some fucked up anatomy
Can't remember all of them atm
All I know is that the 190 volumes of Kochikame is laying around in my room somewhere
Was reading this, pretty entertaining, there is also a movie based on the same novel, called Edge of Tommorrow, with Tom Cruise, seems to differ quite a bit from the manga though at the moment.
Not sure how many chapters are untranslated, but this is one i would love to see some more of.
Tasogare Otome X Amnesia. Caught up and forgot about it. Now it's complete, but I have no motivation to finish it yet.
i know, it's very charming at times.
Am I like the only one who didn't feel a thing? I wasn't even sad or anything.
I probably got mre depressed when I thought how I wasted my time reading that manga.
What are the chances of someone else picking Teppuu up?
They just can't ignore it? What can happens? They send the copyright patrol to arrest the evul scanlator?
>What'cha reading, /a/?
>What are you hoping gets translated?
Nicoichi, Non Non Biyori
Just finished Tsumi to Batsu, or a Falsified Romance, or Crime and Punishment, or Syndrome 1866, or what the hell you want to call it.
Point is, I haven't been this fucking touched by a manga in a long time. I thought it was excellent, and actually superior to Dostoyevsky's novel It's too bad it was dropped by the scanlators halfway through. I'm actually considering doing a french to english scanlation of the rest, to get more people to read it.
I'd help you with something if you'd like, but I have no experience whatsoever.
This is the manga Yoko Taro really loved last year. He's the guy who made NieR, Drakengard and Drakengard 3.
Anyway, to answer OP's question I'm reading Horimiya, Last game, Koe no Katachi, Boku wa Mari no Naka, Renai Kaidan Sayoko-san and Instant Bullet New chapter when?;_;
Inari Konkon koi Iroha
/a/ was right. The Inari parts are ass and anything with her brother and Uka are great.
I like the kendo aspect but the MC being able to take on the #1 even if he barely scratched by was absurd but I am interested in it and it's only 10 volumes.
Kamen Rider Spirits
Salty tears all around.
i'm struggling to find a good sport manga; it seems i've read all the good ones
Hah, I don't have any experience with this stuff either. I found the french scans, and the quality is alright even if the double pages suffer from some blur and distortion in the middle. I'd like to give it a try, though.
Do you mind posting them?
I could upload them somewhere, hang on
I would love if birdy decode were translated more quickly. I know the current dude is a champ, but I would love if more people helped him.
Just caught up on spirit circle and really looking forward to more. I didn't expect it to tin out this good from the description to say the least. , and I also was reading jitsu wa watashi wa. I'm trying to work through my manga backlog so I dove into dorohedoro, not far enough in to form an opinion yet.
Also are the translations for apocalypse no toride still dead
>Mahou Tsukai no Yome
I never heard about this before, seems exactly like my kind of thing. Thanks anon.
Spirit Circle was a nice surprise. I was expecting shit, and only read it because some anon wouldn't shut up about it. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least.
Eh, my internet is shit, this will take forever. Here's the torrent, in the meantime. http://www.t411.me/torrents/scan-syndrome-1866-complet-10-tomes
Thank you. I'll go check'em out.
I hope I still remember some French from my High School classes.
I want to read manga, but I'm obsessed with physical books and hate e-books.
>polish versions don't exist
>english versions either don't exist or are hard to get to here or crazy expensive
>i don't know japanese
Should I learn moon or binding your own books?
Have you tried reading stuff on a tablet or ebook reader instead of a normal computer? It works for me.
I feel like if I have somtehing in my hand I can read with more pleasure.
Yes. It's nowhere near as comfortable. It works, but nothing beats print. Also, I can gaze and look at my collection with print a lot better.
If you like learning language and want to get the most out of your chinese cartoons, learn moon. Sometimes translations improve works, but it's usually only when they weren't very good in the first place.
Yeah that's true. I just wanted to give you a cheaper solution to your problems.
I'm enjoying learning languages but what petrifies me in moon is the kanji
I can print manga on my laser printer for two dollars a volume. Still doesn't beat >muh books
Kiba no Tabishounin
Artstyle is pretty good, story is alright so far, only on chapter 20 though
Good luck mate! French is just my third language actually, but it was absolutely worth having to look up some words once in a while.
>Oh shit, so I guess the Vertical scans got uploaded?
They aren't that far along. Some anon is translating them.
What's the longest manga you've ever read?
I fucking hate finding series that aren't finished.
I don't wanna count.
Usagi Drop, Hellsing, Berserk, Ayako, Otoyomegatari, Twin Spica, Sexy Voice and Robo, Solanin, What a Wonderful World, Black Jack, Princess Knight, Apollo's Song, FLCL, Me and the Devil Blues, GTO, Planetes, Scryed, Cromarte High School, Eat-Man (which was never completely published damnit), Negima, Animal Country, Nausicaa, Saturn Apartments, Parasyte, and about 5 feets of random volumes that I don't have complete series of. Also in Japanese: The World God Only Knows, Centaur's Worries, Ice Revolution, and Kuragehime.
What's the longest manga you've ever read, /a/?
The kanji is a non-issue. You learn to recognize words by it whether you want to or not.
In pages or chapters?
In pages I'd probably say Berserk.
Years or chapters? If chapters, its one piece and it's still going. If years, i have been reading Berserk for 20 years.
Volume length? Jojo if it counts. If not One Piece. Years would be One Piece.
I was thinking more of chapters, but pages is fine too
How much I wish the translation would not be so behind (dead?). It's damn good but somehow no one picks it up ;_;
Probably Ippo or JoJo.
Chapters, probably One Piece.
Jesus, it's over 700 now.
What manga is this? It looks familiar.
I am currently reading Berserk. I'm on chapter 85, just before the Eclipse. I fucking love it so much and I don't give a shit about the 100+ chapters of Guts on a boat. As long as there is Guts, i'm fine. Plus, I hear that Miura is picking it back up sometime this year hopefully before he dies
Volumes is a better count. Monthly series have longer chapters.
What do you like about it?
Could you give me some motives to read it? I stalled it during that flashback, because I didn't find it as interesting as people make it out.
Yeah, you're right. Haven't thought of that.
>Dont care if he's on the boat
You'll change your mind when you got to wait three years plus for him to get off it.
I swear it looks just like Blood Lad if you don't pay attention to it.
Thank you. I'll go read it.
The Golden Age is amazing. Guts and Griffith's development, the action scenes, the setting, it's very enjoyable. It is very overrated, but it's very good.
>I stalled it during that flashback, because I didn't find it as interesting as people make it out.
If you didn't like the golden age I would suggest just giving it up.
Calm the fuck down, the reason everyone hates this arc is because of the hiatus. We have a new loli who isn't a tsundere bitch, be happy.
naruto, one piece, bleach
This arc is by far my least favorite. Not even because of the hiatus, I hated it while I still wasn't up to date.
I liked the Count arc much more than the Golden Age, though.
It wasn't the best thing ever, but it was readable.
Should I still give up? I wanted to discuss it with /a/ ;_;
So when the big three wrap up at about the same time, what's set up to take their place? More important, what kind of shitstorm is going to be unleashed on the internet after it happens?
You literally stopped at the start of an amazing arc. You have to really get invested in Guts' character and how he develops over time. Guts has to be one of the most tragic heroes i've ever read/watched. This dude just does not get a fucking break and suffers so god damn much that you just want him to rise up and succeed. It has some of the best writing, man. Guts is such a fucking bad ass and you see his character develop over time and there are some pages that will make you fucking cry. The first 5 chapters, I assume, take place 7 years after the eclipse arc. I won't spoil it for you or anything. I watched the anime first and the ending of the anime left off at the climax of the eclipse so I just had to read the manga. I'm so close to the eclipse though...
Soul Eater and Blue Exorcist.
I'm right now waiting for Deadman Wonderland to be released.
> Everyone hates the boat because of hiatus
Well no fucking shit.
Oh, and so far i've learned that there is no safe character. Another thing I forgot to add about Guts' character as that I noticed he was like a Dark Knight. Well, i've only seen what his present self was like in the first 5 chapters but from what I picked up when he saved the Count's daughter and she wanted to kill herself, Guts encouraged her but when she was about to fall to her death, he saved her. She then vows to kill Guts some day. I think Guts was just saying those awful things to her so she would want to get revenge and now she has something to live for. The ultimate Dark Knight...
>that will make you fucking cry
I still have to find a manga which manages to make me cry.
I've read the GA up to the chapter where Casca(Was that her name?) tells everyone about Nesferatu whatshisname, so I think I've passed already the sad parts? I know already something about Griffith raping Casca because I've read about it on another thread Let me check my browser history so I can tell you exactly where I was.
I hope someone picks this up.
it will be one of those rare moments where nothing is decided and history can be made
Well, I dropped Beserk ages ago because I read the first few chapters and I cut myself all over Guts's edges.
But I sucked it up and got to the golden age arc, and then I finished up to the current chapter in about a week. The arcs after the golden age are all generally good, especially the rebirth arc (whatever it was called), but I would have never picked it up if it wasn't for the golden age arc.
Just finished punpun and otaku no musume-san yesterday
I'm mad over one ending and empty over the other. currently about to start madan no ou vandis since it has been in my backlog for a while.
What do you mean? It wasn't dropped as far as I know.
>wrap up at about the same time
Maybe Naruto and Bleach, I don't follow them so I don't really know, but I've heard they're in their final arc; but One Piece will last another five years at least
http://www.batoto.net/read/_/191291/berserk_v5_by_no-group/123 I stopped reading here, I just lost interest.
Nothing sad has even happened yet and what Griffith does to Caska is nothing compared to whats coming. Just continue reading, you won't regret it.
Are you ready for the eternal summer? Endless mmo maintenance Tuesday?
I also read something about Guts having a son/daugther who hates him IIRC.
But if you say that that's nothing I guess I'll continue it.
Thanks for the tips!
Afaik there is no group translating it, just some friendly anons, plus the raw for the 101 is out for almost a week.
Holy shit that's literally like 10 pages before you meet Zodd.
I'd say it just gets better and better but honestly if you got stuck THERE, you're probably not going to like it. You haven't even met Charolette yet.
there is only one dark knight
You barely read anything. If you like VS, you should like Berserk too. I'd say to at least read until the end of the Golden Age, at first I wasn't interested either.
My internet connection stopped working and when I got it up again I forgot to read again.
The next day I just started something else and so I left Berserk unfinished.
There was no real motive behind me stopping right there.
I'm waiting for tona-gura to become fully translated
any day now...any day..
Thank you, like I said I'll go and start read ingit again.
>yfw Miura dropped Berserk for some idolmaster bullshit
>yfw years until next chapter
being a berserk fan is suffering... ;_;
Close, but not quite. It's actually much, much worse than that.
Hox is doing it, isn't he? I didn't see him say anything about dropping it.
Why is Hox so based? I love that guy.
After Gigantomachia he said he would publish some chapters. It isn't that he dropped it, it takes him a lot of time to draw all that.
and he's not a big guy
Then by all means, I strongly encourage you to finish the next two chapters. Something amazing will happen. Then finish 3 more chapters after that, something even MORE amazing will happen. Then finish like 10 more chapters and something RIDICULOUS will happen.
You have no idea how absurd it is that you happened to stop there.
>New chapter notification on MangaWatcher this morning
Oh cool, let's check from what manga it is.
>Shishunki no Iron Maiden
Fuck no, I thought I had deleted that shit, now I'm mad again.
1-4 Zombie Powder
1-4 One Piece
2 random volumes of SZS
2 Volumes of Monster Musume No Iru Nichijou
And a ton of western comics
>What are you hoping gets translated?
Teppuu, Manga Gods pls
I thought this was canned
thanks for reminding me anon hopefully someone does translate the rest
I understand the motive behind manga-to-anime adaptation (promoting the manga, etc), but why the inverse exist? What do they gain by adapting an original anime into manga?
That's so fucking bullshit. I've been reading Berserk since 2005 and for him to just drop it and start working on something else... I don't know, I feel a bit betrayed. I've been such a loyal fan and there are so many others like me. Why doesn't he just get a fucking team of people to help him work on it? He obviously has an ending for it... I just need some closure for my Gattsu...
I'm currently reading Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. I'm on volume 5 right now. It's alright. None of the stories have been outstanding, but they've all been interesting enough to keep me reading.
I hope that the art improves as the volumes go on though. It looks pretty amateurish right now.
>Why does a company do anything?
Seriously though. Some companies may like a story, an artstyle, or even think that it DESERVES an anime/manga.
But ultimately they want cash money.
Really wish another group would pick up muromi
>8 volumes out in nippon
>Less than 1 volume translated
>half a chapter every 2 months
Reminder that Bambino Secondo still needs another Japanese to English TL.
This many. I have a lot of unfinished series on my shelves. I hope to remedy this soon as I finally have a consistent source of income.
>walk into this thread see this:
>read all 19 chapters
>go to scanlators site
>proceed to pic related
Fucking shit, time to learn moon. Anyone have a handy guide or infograph for learning hiragana/katakana?
I would feel betrayed if he didn't publish new chapters after this. It's too early yet. Although it is bullshit he's doing a new series.
The kana alone's gonna teach you jack shit of Japanese, though.
It's only six chapters. Calm down.
He's probably a little tired of Berserk. A break to let him vent his creative juices into something else can only be a good thing.
is shit. Don't use it.
First steps, first. I gotta learn moon runes. Then I'll get grammar down. Then I'll work on vocabulary.
Check the DJT.
Silver Spoon, it was too boring and didn't really have plot.
They still have those?
It's not that simple. It'll take you a lot of time, mix grammar and vocabulary, that way you can read things earlier.
That's so small time. Keep going, son.
Huh, it appears they do. /a/ isn't my home board so I literally have no idea what the generals are.
What's your main board?
>actually admitting you come from another board
Well obviously I have to mix them together. But I don't know how grammar works at all, so learning vocabulary is useless to me if I can't use it in a sentence.
The only grammar I know is german and english, obviously. I tried learning spanish grammar and gave up after I learned about their insane conjugation rules. Please tell me Japanese is a simple language to speak.
Ehhh, it used to be /sci/, but now I would say /fit/ for all the time I spend on it. Actually in the past few weeks I've been getting back into manga and KLK, fuck you I don't shitpost so I've been coming here a lot.
>Thinking I care about fitting in on the anime board.
My native language is Spanish, I can say for sure Japanese conjugations are simpler, though they are more complicated than English.
>capitalizing the first letter when greentexting
I can deal with that. I learned German conjugation easy enough, but having 10+ conjugations for a single verb depending on context AND gender is absurd, and whoever decided that should be shot.
Why not just call it meme arrows.
Any idea when the next chapter is released?
There aren't different conjugations for each gender in Spanish or Japanese
That's not what I learned. Granted that was in high school so I have no idea now. But don't certain helping verbs change depending in the noun or some shit?
I can't help you. Trying to think about irregularities in your native language is hard, becuse you didn't learn them, you just know them. With a more concrete example I could think of something.
Reading Parasyte, almost finished too. It's been a good read, not amazing or anything, but definitely worth the time.
I hope the anime doesn't get too censored, but it probably will.
What's your favorite short manga? I wanted to read a bunch of one shots, but the wiki isn't well furnished regarding those.
The verbs change if the noun is plural or singular.
What a Wonderful World
All good collections of one shots.
>What a Wonderful World
I read all of these, unfortunately.
I'll check Palepoli, though.
Shamo, which apparently is even on the Recommended manga page, if anyone here read it could they tell me what do they like about it?
I read the first 17 volumes years ago but I didnt like it, I started and tried to see how the protagonist would end up and I didnt like it.
And if I cant reason, enjoy, follow the MC then this series has no meaning for me.
>Aku no Hana 53 translation fucking never.
Have you read Inio other one shot collections as well? Or Igarashi's?
Also try Ohikkoshi or Sister Generator by Samura. And Blue Spring by Matsumto Taiyou.
Yes I did.
Blue Spring is still in my backlog, and so is Sister Generator.
>o boy there's a manga too
>and is done
>but not scanlating
Welp, still, is better than picking up something that has recently started, like pic related "gamer" althought is a Manhwa.
Not only a manhwa, but a webtoon too.
at least that way is easier to translate to write over...and is colored, so far is coming out rather quickly.
But to be more on topic as a guilty pleasure I am reading Hadi girl and 14 Sai no koi, the latter I enjoy the character design more than anything perhaps, alas the releases are slow.
Who gives a shit if it's colored if the artwork looks like DeviantArt garbage?
Gamer has been great so far.
I'm really enjoying it.
I absolutely hate the webtoon format regardless.
You don't fucking need all that white space between panels.
it has a sense of novelty, not that I mind the black and white, for instance I prefer Berserker black and white, be it the anime or even the colored pages, it seems to lose some depth.
Being black and white let's the artist put more detail. Adding color is exponentially difficult depending on how detailed the art is.
doesnt Batoto give the option to "cut it" to a more traditional style? I have to admit it does feel odd, scrolling so much, expecially if you havent loaded all the images.
Is there a technical explanation for this? I felt that way but I cant quite put to words why is that.
The more detailed a drawing is, the more details you have to put into the colors. And adding colors isn't easy, you have to consider lighting, shading and contrast. You could color it putting little detail, but the it would remove detail from the original drawing.
New chapter of Shishunki no Iron Maiden and Akame, so time to read them I guess.
I wish there were more scans. If someone would just scan the official volumes up to the end.
Pic related, it's finally back.
Legal action could be taken against them.
