Did this ever end?

And what happened to Gothicmade?
>>
>>101163726
English translations of the manga stopped, but I think there was still more.

As for Gothicmade, it supposedly came out in theaters in 2012. Not sure if/when the DVD release is though. They did publish an artbook, so I would assume they'll release a DVD eventually.

There was more. The English publishers lost interest, I guess, since Nagano was dragging stuff too long.

Supposedly, someone on /m/ watched the movie and it "sucks" or something.

Character design is so bad it's like baked in QUALITY in every frame.

There's a whole lot more, hell the Japanese manga isn't even complete. I remember reading somewhere that the manga is getting a re-release for whatever reason. How about Nagano finish the damn thing first?

And yes Gothic made did indeed come out in November of 2012

Never saw it myself, but it wouldn't surprise me if it really was the case.

Manga or movie?

But the mecha is absolutely top tier. It's weird how an artist could do one thing so right and another thing so wrong.

The character designs do look QUALITY as fuck in the manga at times, I'll give you that. Especially when it's in color.

Part of why I prefer the movie's style in that regard. There's one particular piece where there's this character with an enormous forehead and eyes and just looks...so hideous. The anime designs just look more appealing in a sense.

Seems to happen fairly regularly, especially in 80s mecha. Elaborate and detailed machines but really cartoony and inconsistently drawn people.

That illustration there actually looks well composed. Quarter angle must be the most flattering. Facing forward always makes me think of those melting popsicle faces, like Key designs with their eyes touching the sides of their faces.

Any examples in particular? I remember Macross had some disastrous budget outsourcing but I'm pretty fond of the designs themselves. The characters in MS Gundam are some of the best in any anime ever because everyone has a unique face and body that's different from everyone else.

That illustration wasn't made by Nagano, that's the thing. It was someone else, so that they'd be easier to animate.

Unlike pic related.

Sure, if you've only seen Gundam and Macross.

L-Gaim gets pretty bad with the QUALITY, I think. Come to think of it, Nagano worked on that too.
>>
>>101164974
Nagano isn't that bad at drawing people. In fiction, the Fatima are designed to look like dolls so that they aren't mistaken for Humans.

you like it that way
