What does /a/ think about Samurai Champloo?
I see a lot of threads like this. the ones for new series are fine and people may learn something. but who wants to talk about old as fuck anime that weve ALL seen.
first few episodes: O_O
middle part: >_>
last epsiode <_<
Cowboy Bebop lite with (more) swords.
I never got past the kidnapping/whore house episode.
I never watched this, amidoinitrite?
i wasnt impressed
What? The last episode was one of the best endings to an anime ever.
>best endings to an anime ever.
I got a boner so big watching this that my dick ruptured.
Genre bending and above average.
Had typical Watanabe influence but not bad for it.
Yes. Straight to the point, they split just like they met. Except for fan suggestions (Mugen marrying the ninja girl, Jin going to redeem himself), no plot holes whatsoever.
Average show with one of the shittiest endings in the history of anime.
Not best but it was satisfying. All loose ends were tied up, which is the text-book definition of and ending I suppose. Anything that left you wanting after that is subject to debate.
Its hardly a resolution at all.
Also, I was disappointed that the swordsman that was hired to take out Gin in ep 2 never showed up again.
What exactly was wrong with it?
I really liked it. The hip hop referenced and style was just retarded but the actual show was pretty damn good.
Shit sucked. One of very few anime I've ever dropped. Fuu was great, but she wasn't enough to make the show interesting.
It entertained me.
And Fuu is hot.
There was resolution. Fuu's sunflower Samurai was found one way or another. But that isn't where the meat of the plot lied. A typical theme in Watanabe's directorial works is a stark confrontation with one's past (see spike dies). All 3 main characters tied up loose ends because they joined Fuu on her journey and it's revealed to them that it was all by chance (Fuu lied about the coin's side). They then continue on their ways.
Awesome, one of my top 20.
Maybe there are newfags lurking among us who think GL is the first super robot show and DBZ is the first shonen EVER.
I say we should always keep a watanabe thread just for reference.
Besides 2004 is not OLD. The same year as seed, my-hime and a bunch of others who get spammed all the time.
I loved this show. There were several episodes that fell flat, but it was still great overall. I also loved the ending. Much better than the BAD END most animes seem to have these days.
>It entertained me.
>And Fuu is hot.
bitch bitch bitch. it was a great ending. The last battle was drawn out and annoying but the girl did what she set out to and got closure.
Yes, it's an AMV, but it's still fucking AWESOME!!
Some episodes were entertaining, and some weren't.
A forgettable series.
We got the reason for Gin killing his master, but there was no solution for the problem of all the other students trying to kill him.
Kind of a boring ending, but the climax before the ending was epic.
One of my absolute favorite animes ever.
FUU was great?. Nothing about the 2 other guys who kicked so much ass it was incredible?.
I think you were watching the show for the wrong reasons.
Moe anime, that way ->
Fucking good show, not up to Cowboy Bebop's standard, but a shining example for what anime should be. It really is a colorful romp through Edo-era Japan, and I just enjoyed the whole range of different aspects of the culture the show went through - everything from tengus growing opium, to qi-using mystical fighters, to graffiti taggers and beatboxers, to Japanese Christianity, to some fucking nuclear something that I don't remember now. It says a lot to me that I still remember so many things about the show, because I don't do that for a lot of series.
Also that ending fight with the Hand of God guy was lovely.
Even though I hate rap, I absolutely loved the OST and everything by every artist that contributed to it.
yeah the climax befor the overdrawn out battle was totally great, the long drawn out final battle seemed tacked on after we got the resolution.
ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWER!
Event he filler (which was most of the series) was really damn good
Sorry, but the other characters were garbage. If Fuu were male, it would have still worked out, in a way. It just wasn't entertaining.
You like war?
It was pretty good. Nice fight scenes, no long drawn-out plot... Nothing legendary or epic, but pretty good.
Not filler, episodic anime.
There is a difference.
funny. because it isn't rap.
That was not filler. Things that don't contribute to the immediate plot are automatically labeled filler. Filler is pulled out the studios' asses in order to finish good episodes.
There is rap in the show, several songs.
And yes, the rest is a type of hip-hop. Same shit.
But I actually like this breakbeat stuff. It's more on the electronica and drum and base side.
>>10115545 Sorry, but the other characters were garbage.
> It just wasn't entertaining.
Man, I don't know what you would find entertaining.
Quick, somebody counter this with some Fuu goodness!
It reminds me of Gurren Lagann's first basic arc, with just Simon, Kamina and Yoko.
You know it was nice to see he made something different from cowboy's bebop "BAAAWWWW" ending.
Which i was expecting and i was so ready to rage if he did that.
How the hell can you fags complain?. I certainly dont see how its ending sucked.
We have resolution for the main conflict, except no tears. Good enough.
Maybe he wanted to leave the door open for a sequel.
no need to fight here, my friends.
So, who kicks more ass, Mugen or Jin?
Lets hope he doesnt say LS or SOL series.
one of the only animes i liked, especially the baseball one
