What's the lowest selling anime of the last decade?
>>
Hen Zemi sold like 19 copies.
>>
Proper full length series?
Probably pic related.

I doubt that sold less than Aku no Hana

Not really. Someone said yesterday that the problem may have been somewhere else. During September, iirc, they decided to update the game (up until then it was doing quite nicely), but for some reason, instead of doing it on a separate server, and make a shift later, they stopped the servers all together. That means that, during the time they were doing the update to this new game, people couldn't play anything. This lasted until mid December. So, in the end, a lot of people got tired of waiting, or just couldn't bother anymore.

But I still find it quite strange. They were all out with the game, they started the manga, they even started selling physical cards. And then, suddenly, two days ago, they put up that notice, claiming that they didn't have enough players, even though this was only the open beta.

Well, I guess I'll never to watch Ziz.

Wasn't there that studio called m.o.e. or something? They did a few anime, but after making Ultimate Girls, they went under.

>>101139097
so... let me get this... The anime was supposed to promote an upcoming game, which at the time was a beta released. The anime bombed horribly, and an unrelated server issue meant that the players who were already playing the game deserted it in droves, thus the game will end on March 31 (Maaya Sakamoto and Mirai's birthday), without being officially released? That's... the saddest story of an anime I've ever heard.
>>
>>101139095

>>
>>101139215
No, no. There was a proper game, and the anime did increase the players. But they decide to upgrade it (new name: "Zettai Bouei Leviathan de R"). I guess they thought it was doing fine, and they wanted to do something for their players or whatever. The thing is that, instead of working on that update, with all the new cards and a few changes in the program, and closing the servers for a day while they updated everything once they had already finished all the designs and program tweaks, they decided to close the servers when they had a lot of work to do before it could even reach a beta status. So, from that moment, and until they released the beta, no one could play the game. Now, the game is in the beta of that "expansion", and it'll never get pass that.

If you ask me, it was a problem with the decision on how to handle the update and the lack of info.
>>
>>101139385

Gen'ei wo Kakeru Taiyou. I'm the guy who posts most of its threads here lately.

But AIC had a number of good selling anime before that right? Gen'ei's average sales were 700+ so, while it was a flop, it wasn't C3-bu or AnH level. Surely it's not the reason, right?

>>
>>101139955

Trigger's and Ordet's cash is only to pay the ongoing expenses of running a studio (equipment, wages, rent, what have you).

Their parent company is the one that is actually a producer (at least in KLK).

>>
>>101140560
Strictly speaking KLK is not a flop. It's not doing as good as originally thought, but its sales aren't bad either.

Now LWA on the other hand... I know it didn't really get a proper release, but you know it's a bad sign when its event was cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

Will Space Dandy have an event?
>>

C3bu is one of the lowest. It's first volume had about 300 copies sold and it looks to be getting worse.
>>
Didn't Lotte no Omocha only sell 11 copies? including the ones bought by the mangaka

This. Just like normal investment, the industry's various organisations minimise risk by spreading themselves out among many projects.

Since most members of a production committee contribute to the initial investment, if a project fails abysmally then each organisation takes a smaller hit instead of one losing everything and being destroyed.

Generally it lends stability to the industry and ensures that as long as anime in general is profitable, most of the investors will be making money even if some of their projects fail.

Kyoani is different since it's now almost entirely self-funded, but it can easily revert back to the old business model if it produces too many KnKs. Assuming they haven't burnt bridges with the rest of the industry that is.

This is also why Yamakan is doomed, since he went all-in on WUG.

>Yamakan is doomed
He doesn't have a personal investment in WUG.

Coppelion sold around 300. Although it didn't rank, I found a site which said it sold around that number. Meaning C3bu still did worse.

6.3k first volume, neither very good nor bad.
>>
>>101141539
No, that's Samurai Flamenco. Even an event ticket could not push the sales into the ranking, so it's somewhere less than 200. Manglobe is kill.
>>
>>101143348
I'd really like to know the in-depths especially of KyoAni, with their going-their-own-way appoach. Tamako sold only around 4.5k and still warranted a follow-up project like the movie in April. So either they sell a lot through their own distribution channel or make up for it in LN/merch sales. Probably a combination of both.

Welp, thanks Manglobe.
It could be alright, but the Hinagiku's character design backlash killed it.
Now we will follow the manga being overstretched to oblivion and being canned.
It's School Rumble all over again.

>while Diabolik Lovers should have been released on BD
Otomefags don't buy as much BDs as male otakus and Diabolik Lovers was aimed to a niche audience of masochistic fangirls so probably the studio didn't see the point of a BD release
