Samurai Flamenco thread.
Where the fuck is this show going to go next even.
Post-Apocalyptic Japan? Space? Super Robot?
I wouldn't be surprised, it seems to keep trying to outdo itself. I imagine we'll end with people turning into demons and killing other humans, while the MC is being lusted after by a hermaphrodite.
christmas cake of the year
samflams get turned into children and then it turns into an elementary school slice of life
If you can't go any further up then why not go down?
beyond gf when
Holy shit that art is fucking terrible
Beyond Flamenco will recruit the Flamengers to fight an EVEN BIGGER FOE
Let's just leave the discussion of whether Samurai Flamenco is a bad show or not aside and just assume it is.
One thing we need to accept is that it is bad in a very unique and exceptional way. Usually, when anime gets awful it's either in a Code Geass-esque trainwreck-y way or just in a plain generic haremshit romcom garbage manner. However, Samumenco is a different beast altogether. When you examine the different parts independently, you see a lot of interesting ideas executed in a competent manner. The tokusatsu parody jokes, the early slice of parts that were relatively realistic, the questions raised about heroes etc. However, the transition between these parts are often extremely awkward.
One second, you're watching goofy action between people wearing deliberately wacky clothes, a second later you're seeing super serious discussions about the destruction of Japan. Within the episode, from episode to episode, from arc to arc, constant genre shifts. But, you know what? It just works. It's an extremely inconsistent mess. But it just works somehow. It transcends the good and bad dichotomy and achieves something entirely different, and I don't mean this in a so-bad-it's-good way. At the end of the day, perhaps consistency and relative realism we so desire in fiction is just a needless distraction. Samumenco achieves what fiction should be, and that is being an entertaining spectacle. It is truly the Madoka of the Aku no Hana genre and a post-Yamakanist dissection of Evangelion.
If this is following Sentai conventions to a T then where is the mysterious x warrior who will job the fuck out of the flamengers singlehandedly, join and then be completely useless?
>It just works
An acceptable answer
It's definitely the most fun I've had watching an anime in...forever.
She reminds me of the girl from Un-Go
Mizuki best girl with best VA
That isn't Moe
I just watched the first episode, continuing.
This is weirdly good.
Leave 4chan until you've watched the first 7 episodes
Of course not, I didn't say second best in my post.
If it hasn't been spoiled for you already you should probably get the fuck out of the thread until you're caught up.
Remember when this show was fun?
Yes I remember every Thursday fondly
b-but it's still fun anon..
It's trying too hard and is full of QUALITY.
It's hard to forget when it was under a week ago
Wouldn't the QUALITY indicate it isn't trying hard enough?
QUALITY was always half the fun, dingus
The story is trying too hard, the animation is just shit.
It has always been full of QUALITY though.
Real OP when?
Alternative dimension. Trust me, my dad worked for Manglobe before they had to cut costs and fired him.
That's a lie, my second cousin's daughter has a friend whose dad still works at Manglobe and he said Masayoshi will die and Goto will become Space Sheriff
I think you are trying to hard to hate this show.
What the fuck?
Did you experienced it? or get spoilered?
You should try watching SDF Macross or other shows that aired in the last century. You wouldn't complain about QUALITY.
>manager-san will never yell at your dick
Manager gives me a tingly feeling so complicated
>Usually, when anime gets awful it's either in a Code Geass-esque trainwreck-y way
But your example is ill-chosen. That was actually good enough in addition to being crazy, which is not what "usually" happens at all. There were some pretty interesting ideas there too, even if they're often rushed as well. Which makes your Samurai Flamenco description a bit less unique, since CG was also an entertaining spectacle in its own right that just works.
