so i just finished watching Nichijou and i can say that i honestly did not enjoy it.
it feels like i am not at the mental age where this would strike me as interesting.
don't get me wrong though, i did laugh throughout the whole series and i thought the art and animation was superb.
the characters however were very unlikable but i can say that yuuko, sakamoto, and kana were my favorites.
is my taste shit? should i have enjoyed this more then i did? whats your favorite moment/character? discuss
I agree, actually. I did not find the actual jokes funny, and the skits didn't entertain me. The whole 'LOL HE JUST SUPLEXED A DEER!!!' style of humor never clicked with me. Also 'HAHAHA THIS SCENE IS HUMOROUSLY WELL-ANIMATED'
My favorite parts where the Mios hair cube origin stories but the show had a lot of funny moments.
I dont know what is wrong with you. I can sort of get why you wouldnt like the charachters because theyre so over the top and always shouting but I just thought they were charming. You didnt even like Mai?
Yes. Yes. Mio.
haircube was enjoyable.
Mai didnt really do anything for me, if anything i'd say im indifferent about her.
Shit > Lindsay Lohan > the asscracks of Moot > lolsorandum humor
What about Nano? I think its funny how she is the most realistic character and she is a robot.
lolsorandum humor > lolLindsayLohan humor
>still watching Nichijou to laugh
You're doing it wrong.
My favorite skit is probably the camping trip and chan-mio. Although I suppose a lot of those that I found funny flows from pretty specific characteristics. Most of the times I'd like a skit if its something along the line of "Mio and Yuuko doing something, and Yuuko Fucked up".
Something about these specific repetition feels very British. I like non-sequitur too, but only if its a follow up on the previousely stated structure. I found these particular interaction funny.
i didnt like her because she always gave in to what other people told her, she never displayed any sort of intelligence, everything about her is just "remove this key" "you cant eat snacks" "hakase!" "let me go to school"
mio and nano are all both though
I didn't love it, but I enjoyed it overall. And yea without the animation I wouldnt've liked it as much.
>watched the whole thing
>didn't enjoy it
Christ you're stupid
slapstick > lolrandom humor > muh tsukkomi > muh puns in a foreign language
woops, I mean both great
>thought the art and animation was superb
What the fuck else did you want?
well fuck im not main english speaker, i laughed at some points during the anime but not every single episode
i wanted more connection and story with the characters. if a car has the best motor, the best wheels, good body, but no seats, that is not something i would like to drive. if you get what i mean
It's actually my favourite anime. This is exactly my preferred kind of humor. (inb4 incoming sagewall)
Please note, though, that not even I can comprehend Helvetica Standard ;_;
some of helvetica standard made sense
I remember understanding the one where the reaper lost his scythe or whatever
I'm told it's better in English.
>i wanted more connection and story with the characters
It's a sketch comedy and a slice of life. How can one even get into Nichijou expecting such a thing?
Some slice of lifes interleave those... uh... "story" segments with the "sketch" segments. Hard to explain, but I've seen it happen.
>Liked the art
>Made me laugh
>I didn't enjoy it
I don't understand. Do you not enjoy things you like?
I don't know what to tell you, man. I can see how not identifying with the characters in Nichijou would mean you wouldn't enjoy the show, but if you can't that's your problem, not the show's. I can personally say I like the characters a lot, and other anons can attest to a similar experience. I guess it comes down to a loss of nuance, due to either language or cultural differences.
I wouldn't really call it a comedy, it's more of an extremely over-the-top slice of life. It's about enjoying the cute girls who also happen to be doing very silly things.
Please use capital letters and punctuation in your posts. This is especially important if you're starting a thread.
Agreed. The jokes felt like they were trying too had.
Nichibros was far more enjoyable.
>so i just finished watching Nichijou and i can say that i honestly did not enjoy it.
Why didn't you just drop it.
Nichibros was a lot funnier, but they're enjoyable in different ways.
I prefer Nichibros for pure comedy, but Nichijou does a great job of balancing comedy with comfy.
i liked the art and it made me laugh, that doesnt mean i liked the anime as a whole.
yeah that sounds about right.
i did like nichibros but im assuming that is because i could more identify with the characters
because i wanted to be sure of my oppinion. i usually sit through something even if i dislike it because i dont want to leave it unfinished. the only anime ive ever dropped are Ichigo 100% and GC because it was just unbearable.
>i usually sit through something even if i dislike it because i dont want to leave it unfinished
I will never understand you people.
i know its stupid but i cant help it. its like OCD
I'm the exact opposite. I like some shows enough that I put them off for fear of dat longing feel and more often than not end up effectively dropping them.
How come nobody ever replies to my posts? I am beginning to think moot's got me on a ghost ban list or something.. Nobody ever replies to a single post I EVER make, even if it's a post like a waifu thread that are wildly successful.
I know, now you're not going to respond to this post because you think it'd be funny if I don't get any replies, but can someone please at least be nice enough to confirm that you can see my message? Please? I don't understand how I can make a thread and absolutely nobody will reply, ever.
if all of your posts are like your first one, you just blend in perfectly.
Try asking stuff, post something controversial (i.e. "So evangelion was shit, right?") or make some nice OC, that usually gets some replies because regulars notice it.
I made a comic about WIEN back when TariTari aired, it even got reposted some times. I felt really warm inside.
