Anyone listening to the same headphones that Seiyuu* in Japan use during dubbing session?
>TL note: Seiyuu means voice actor/actress
> The standard headphone for studio monitoring in Japan
I'm wearing them right now.
I'm seriously considering recabling them.
>dat cord in your pocket on the go.
>tfw MDR-MA900 soundstage
So nice for taking the sound of animu voices outside of the inside of your head.
Why does she have a PM670?
Doesn't look very comfortable to be honest.
These are my headphones.
What the fuck are MDR-CD90-
>what is this thread
>help what have i gotten myself into
this may sound cliche but how does CD900ST sound? how is it with vocals? I've only read reviews and some people say the sound is "dark" or "bright" or "unforgiving"
Nope, I have the Miophones.
>>101131398 and this image.
Best Keion smirks smugly in your general direction.
I never understood why people complained about this. I have some k702s and they're very comfortable, even for long periods of time.
No, I wear K-701's.
Opinions on the bumps seem to be very polarizing. I suppose it largely comes down to size and shape of users' heads, and possibly thickness of their hair. I'd guess that those with larger and/or "pointier" (at the top of the skull) heads will find them more uncomfortable.
>no bass shit
sony stealth marketing
They have no bass at first but the bass will get stronger as the pads conform to your head and provide a stronger seal. The bigger problem with them is their peaky treble.
>yfw I'm wearing these
I have the V6, does that count?
>wanting nigger bass
Listen to some better music.
HD800 master race
A recent AES study confirmed variation in perceived bass response from listener to listener with the K701 due to variations in seal, and the same variation to a larger degree in the K550. It's a scientifically documented phenomenon.
>not wanting 10db bass roll off = wanting nigger bass
Factoring in the 10 Hz response into the rolloff isn't very fair, anon. Humans can't hear below 20 Hz.
But /gee/ told me to get M50s
Well no shit better sealed = better bass, however the "conform to your head better overtime" is proved to be total bullshit by IF.
Grado(modded) coming through.
I have ATH-M50s with a Fiio E10. I had no Idea Audio Technica was a Japanese brand until recently. Anyways, I know they're used in a lot of music studios.
B-but /g/ told me to get Hd555s
I still wear MDR-V6 all day every day. I don't know what the difference is, are those just a newer version? I heard they stopped selling V6s.
>trusting /g/ instead of your waifu
The proper course of action is to find a picture of your waifu in headphones and buying those.
I want these. I have HD 448's now but the part that goes over your head has cracked and Im just waiting for it to break so I can buy new ones. The earpads are also totally fucked. I could just buy new pads for it but I want new headphones.
It's still a 10db difference between 20hz and the mid bass regardless.
But I don't have a waifu.
Well then you have to get one first.
I suppose you're referring to this? A, it doesn't show response below 100 Hz, and B, the sample size here is a single dummy head which could have provided a fairly good seal with the headphone right off the bat due to the size and shape of that specific dummy head. Pic related does not discount the possibility of people with differently sized and shaped heads who are initially less compatible with the K701 in terms of seal, but who will experience, over time, the pads conforming to their head and providing a better seal.
Also good for the price.
The 7506s are fine btw. They're also an old as fuck design which is more why they are so ubiquitous, more in radio and VO though. There are just more practical, better sounding closed back designs for tracking now.
AKG confirmed to be total shit that can't even make good pads for a fucking $300 pair then.
nah i'm using steelseries siberia
I don't have a waifu.
They seem to have corrected that mistake with the K702 Anniversary Edition and the K712. However, these headphones have less soundstage than the K701 now that they're missing the angled pads. They really should have just gone with angled drivers in the first place.
From picture alone and first responses I thought it was about MDR-V6. I feel stupid.
Fuck you. I was all but settled on getting a set of m50s, and now I'm looking at spending twice that amount for a set of Miophones.
You gotta be joking, right? I mean everyone your age should have a waifu by now! Are you gay son?
They are practically the same shit anyway.
It's okay. V6s are good. Nothing wrong with wearing V6s except that Kirino wears them too.
Why do you people need headphones?
V6 and V600 are similar sounding to the 7506, but having owned all three, the build/sound quality is 7506>v600>v6.
Serious diminishing returns on (real) headphones past $300. Beyer 770 vs 880, Sennheiser 380 vs anything higher, etc. In terms of sound only of course. The HI-END shit is usually really comfortable.
To prevent others from hearing hentai, of course.
ATH-M50 master race reporting in
So you can listen to music and watch anime really loud without disturbing your neighbors. One cunt from my building complained to me on the first day I moved into my apartment about noise. Also the sound quality is a lot better than on my speakers.
I want to buy the Hanasaku Iroha headphones so I can be like my favorite anime girl.
Anyone own them or have used them?
Are they good?
They're Panasonic R-something
>without disturbing your neighbors.
>living in an apartment
>living with parents
The Sonys in the picture are wrong, though.
>Not being a nigger
ooh, so edgy
They have no bass.
But I live alone and I cant afford to buy a house right now. Give me some slack.
>Highschool (?) girl can afford HD800s
This always bothered me.
Don't use roger waters against me you fucking monster
Just get the AKG Q701s instead. They're the same thing in a slightly different color and much cheaper.
I don't think I've ever seen a worse graph.
HD558 master race
also there's better alternative in that price range
Amazon. I think the anon who made the picture didn't even try to search for a better deal, she just took the first results from the page. Or something.
Literally off the charts.
Anime Headphone thread?
Did Mio wear the AKG Q701s? I don't think so.
>Implying she's not selling her body.
enjo kosai anon
Is the Sony MDR-V6 one better?
I'm using Grado SR80i right now.
Work for a month and save all your cash.
I'm using my MDR-7506.
K-701, Q-701 and K-702 are the exact same things except Q and 02 versions have a detachable cable. Get whichever you can find for cheapest.
Also the Q-701's are supposed to be more expensive as they're the Quincy Jones signed edition.
Get 7506, V6 are discontinued
Also, this Klipsch S4i is pretty terrible.
The graphs look really similar. I'd say it's more likely that GE simply didn't seal one side properly than the drivers being that mismatched.
EarBuds are good enough for me, decent sound for ten dollars. Regular headphones make my ears burn and ache anyway.
Q701 actually has a teeny bit more bass due to some felt on the driver or some shit like that, I forget exactly.
Q701 is only 200$ now on amazon. Pretty cheap.
They're 65 bucks on Amazon right now, where the hell are you?
>Also the Q-701's are supposed to be more expensive
All Quincy Jones AKGs are way cheaper than their non-signed equivalents, for some reason. Maybe nobody wants the shitty green color or something.
I got some Q350s really cheap a while ago at a local store.
looks like someone made a superior 7506
>straight or coiled
not sure if serious
Amazon.com requries me to add it to cart and make an account just to see the price, and fuck that
>using expensive headphones
Define expensive. I consider CALs and V6s budget ones.
>$467 headphone/amp/dac set up
My pair stopped playing sound on the left ear after 6 months of usage, I was disappointed and didn't want to get another pair because of it.
>anything about $30
oh you delusional audio autists
How does it feel being poor?
Kirino from Ore no Imouto uses Sony MDR-CD900
CD900 = coiled cable
CD900ST = straight cable
$10 KSC75s are better than most headphones at any price range.
>being this poor
Everything below V6 sounds like shit in comparison.
>hurr durr look at me i throw money at things im not a dirty philistine anymore
>different model names for different cable variations
Why do people still buy headphones without a detachable cable? That really should be a basic feature of any headphone above 60 bucks.
The bottom right pricetag genuinely made me flinch
Is that you?
>hurr durr I buy headphones constantly.
I have original V6 from my dad and they still work after 18+ years
>trying to rationalize being poor by saying nice things are unnecessary
Being poor really does suck.
how does cd900st sound with anime voices?
How does spending $100 for something I use 4-5 hours everyday "throwing money"?
doesn't additional jack lower sound quality? Serious question.
But at least you get FREE shipping!
No and anyone saying otherwise is a placebo sheep.
I use these things fore more than six hours a day.
>needing to justify your purchases to 4chan
This shit has already 23k on kickstarter. People sure like anime girls with headphones, eh?
>hurr durr I was just pretending to be retarded
Oh yes, of course it's that skill again.
I'm rocking these at the moment. They're only 80 bucks on Amazon, and I think they're definitely the best closed cans under 200. If you're familiar with the HM5, it's the same can but 40 dollars cheaper and clamps less.
How do I get Sonico's headphones, shit.
>anime girls with headphones
What is "this shit," exactly?
I-I was only pretending to be retarded.
>over half the pages are Monster shit
Whoever funded this should be fucked in the ass with an ogre dick.
>spend $100 or more on headphones
Almost anything is better than a Grado.
>buying expensive headphones when you aren't a classically trained musician and don't even have working knowledge of music theory
You know you can enjoy music much more just by understanding it right?
If you played piano well, your appreciation of a piano piece will increase tenfold, and of music in general too just by understanding composition.
Why are you spending hundreds of dollars when you don't even know shit about music?
>having shitty audio
saved to my pasta
>Only for music
I use mine for my Windows sounds
If you're gonna watch anime, you're probably going to want something with more soundstage. V6's are for production and are really forward sounding.
Plus I hear the treble's pretty harsh and hearing screechy anime girls constantly would probably drive you nuts.
CD900 is very old... it's basically for-japan-only V6.
Same shit, different name
Please stop talking shit, there are people with more knowledge about high end audio than musicians.
Go to the nearest electronic store and compare 10-20$ headphones to ones over 100$.
I bet you listen to 192kbps mp3's too. And I don't mean noise music
whats wrong with me having TTGL headphones?
Chihaya from idolm@ster uses Sony MDR-CD900STs.
While everyone on /g/ considers the Sony MDR-V6 as the standard headphone for audio engineers, for Japan's audio engineers, it is the Sony MDR-CD900ST.
>The Japanese Cult Headphone: Sony MDR-CD900ST
>Here is an obscure little Sony headphone that we don’t hear too much about. Unlike the MDR-V6 or the MDR-5607 headphone, the MDR-CD900ST is relatively unknown, except perhaps in Japan, where it is quite a popular monitoring headphone.
They're mostly sold in Japan, so yeah, you may have to import them but occasionally, American online retailers like Amazon may stock the Sony MDR-CD900ST.
Read the reviews with google translate. It is Japan's answer to the MDR-V6.
Be careful if you get AKG headphones. All the new headphones are being made in China and sound like shit compared to when they were made in Austria.
Some book about headphones with anime illustrations. The kickstarter is to get it translated into english apparently. The target was only 5k, so i suppose we should see it eventually.
>All the new headphones are being made in China and sound like shit compared to when they were made in Austria.
You are literally talking out of your ass.
I've heard this, but have never seen a source or any facts. Mine are made in Austria anyways.
>watching anime with sound when you have subs
Unless you are a dubfag. Then you can always learn to read from lips.
Both my AKGs say Made in Austria and both are pretty old already, so it doesn't affect me.
Headphones all look the same to me. I just got a recommendation from /g/ and went with that.
Dude, it's not that hard. And yeah it's $65 bucks. Go for it .
>WMP and explorer shortcuts
/v/ has truly invaded us
It's updated on the Amazon page.
I have a pair of Q701s made in Austria and they're good. I heard that the K702s were better and bought a pair. They sounded like a clusterfuck of instruments. I went online to see why and saw forum posts about the AKG's were made in China. Checked mine and saw they were produced in China so I returned them.
Are you an audio engineer? A mixer? Do you work in sound production? No? Then why do you spend so much money?
You can post your frequency response graphs as much as you want, but if you can't even tell me what a fugue or a diminished fourth is, then what are you even doing?
You're just wasting money.
Your headphones will be put to much better use if you trained your ears and studied music.
i thought general consensus was that 7506 = V6 and v600<v6 family
>It's updated on the Amazon page.
Well, obviously them moving production to China is a fact, but I haven't seen any evidence about them sounding different.
if i need to use teamspeak should i go with a headset or a standalone mike
been using a shitty 30 bucks headset but it finally broke so i may as well get a good pair now
I love posting this.
I used to have a pair of these, I really liked them.
Stand alone mic. Google mod mic.
Get a cheap standalone mic and tape it to the side of the headphones. Headphones that come with a mic attached are not worth the money.
Nah I use the same ones BBC Radio 1 does.
i have heard terms like binaural mixing, soundstage and imaging being bandied about when people discuss headphones for gaming, does it actually matter in the grand scheme of things or is it just placebo and furious technical masturbation?
Nah, I got two Kenwood 350W speakers from my old car hooked up to car stereo which has a 3.5mm input jack.
It ain't no fancy 5.1, but I had these speakers lying around anyway so why not?
soundstage and imaging are definitely real
try playing games with M50's an enjoy hearing anything but gunshots and explosions
No, I have Audio-Technica m40-fs phones.
>BBC Radio 1
I hope you don't listen to that rubbish, anon.
I implore you to reconsider, this is /a/ at it's finest
alright, i guess i'll just look for a pair with 'good' soundstage and stick a modmic on it
>that feel when M50 master race
Holy shit I want those headphones.
I only have Sennheiser 215's ;_;
ath-ad900 up ins
V-moda M-100, still haven't thought of what to put on the shields but I'm thinking of my waifu
Feels good, friend.
Anyway here are my current phones
I have Klipsch Mode M40's.
They seem fine. They were on sale on boxing day.
I'm part of the master race and I don't even know why it's master race. Feels good bro?
nope, but I do have a sturdy Philips headphones that I bought for like 50 bananamonies
Beyer dt880. I have a cheap chinese DAC/amp but it's still way better than my shitty speakers.
what? starting at about $50, they're totally outclassed in everything but comfort.
beat the m50 in every important way at least
I spend $400 on headphones. and needs another $1200 on equipment to use it
show me your setup /a/.
$37 headphones plugged into my iPhone 3G.
Learning music takes years for something I don't enjoy on that level. 600 dollar headphones take two weeks of saving.
Alienware are not that bad, they are just overpriced. I got mine as a gift from a friend so it's not that bad.
I have a pair of K550 which I'm very happy with, but I've never seen it in an anime or anything. Seen the K701's though on Mio obviously and recognized them right away. My choice was between one of them but ended up going with the K550 because I didn't really like how the K701's sounded when I tried them in a store.
Wish I''d see the K550 at some point though.
They were overpriced before, but since Dell bought them they've been shit quality and overpriced.
>tons of AKG fanart
>almost all of them are K701/702 and a few K240
What pair is she wearing here?
No senn love in this thread? I have a pair of 380 Pros. The ability to instantly replace the most commonly broken part of the headphone is a big plus.
They're not very 'fun' headphones in the traditional sense, though. They're really analytic but I like them for that.
No, I don't use headphones because i'm deaf
Have you been deaf all your life? Must suck not hearing the BGM and voices for characters in anime.
At least K550 is objectively good!
Right, and an electrical engineering degree also helps.
I have some fairly cheap Philips headphones ... obviously there are better ones, but they're good enough for me.
I didn't even know anything but m50s existed.
It wouldn't matter. The left ear's just going to give out in 4 months.
Can I trust these sellers?
why would you even spend more than 20 dollars in headphones
Because I like not butchering my ears.
Mah nigga knows what's up.
>20 dollars as max budget
How can your standards be that low?
How the hell should anyone know what recording studios in Japan use for voice acting anyway?
