Please cease and desist in your ongoing rape of various western mythologies. I mean, come on; if you're going to "borrow" a deity or hero that isn't one of your own, could you at least get it right?
Yggdrasil & Co. Solicitors.
How many Yggdrasil trees are there?
Just one, really, but it's pretty big.
So, how should we use japanese myth?
For example, Amatersu or Momotaro? What would be a nice "adaption" of them in a western comic?
it's sort of like the blind shaolin monk and all the other eastern mytho shit in "kung-fu"... they're just getting us back for raping the mythologies and legends of asian culture.
Aren't we already doing that with Avatar?
I'm not sure I would want to see Japanese heroes in western comics (which can admittedly be nearly as bad as Japanese equivalents). Are you inferring that the west (i.e. Amurka) has already misused eastern cultural touchstones? Because if I could claim any responsibility for that, I would be very sorry.
Not to sound like a homophobe, but Momotaro peach-boy sounds a little queeeeeeeeeer.
BLESS MY SOUL, HERC WAS ON A ROLL

People like you are fucking boring.
Amerifags fucking up other culture's mythologies makes me RAGE too, but note that there isn't a distinctively-american-comic-and-animation forum to troll on this subject. And also that when amerifags get things wrong, they at least don't make every non-ubermacho musclehead a limp-wristed homosexual by dint of not being an ubermacho musclehead (DEBATABLE?).
Mr. O. Din. Dear
Japan is just return you favor you doing japanese anime, manga.
You don't like our manga you don't read our manga!
This thread sucks.
Almost every post in there sucks. Mine too.
Protip: EVERY culture has stories that borrow liberally from various mythologies. In fact the stories we have today are simply one version of the story. Even when these stories were believed to be true there dozens of variations.
God I love this movie. Ancient mythology mixed with pop culture jokes and commercialism (Herc soft drink anyone)?
Only if Emperor Akihito agrees to personally delete wikipedia's page on "Mystery Detective Roki: RAGNAROK" (or whatever it's called).
(You can't read our language, you don't write our language!)
True, to an extent; but you must concede that when Japan (and, yes, Amerikkka) get(s) it wrong, they really do fuck it up beautifully.

Watch, in time they'll be a western adaptation of Journey to the West.
Remade in the form of a road trip to the West Coast of the USA?
Quick, somebody pitch it to /tv/
There isn't already? That's surprising. shitty story is shitty anyways.
There already is there's one British series called "Monkey"...and it's pretty good compared to even some Eastern versions...
Actually, you're thinking of the BBC English dub of the Japanese show.

Just delete the entire thing, it would be better
