So I just watched a small portion of the Welcome to the NHK! dub. Apparently Misaki is a middle-aged woman.

This changes things slightly.
>>
why would they release NHK in the US? that makes no goddamn sense

Dumb Otaku will buy anything.

ugh
>>
wasn't she 18? also PROTAGONIST HATIN ANIMES

Same reason they are releasing Lucky Star.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE
>>
why the fuck do they dub things that aren't for children? If you're going to watch the show I'm sure you're literate.

it would be a fuck load cheaper for them

ABABA ABABA ABABA

Why license it at all?

The target market for this show watched it years ago. I don't know who buys dubbed anime, but I can only assume they wouldn't relate to this at all.
>>
...Wow, I knew people's perspectives on dubbies were out of whack, but wow.

I have no qualm with reading. In fact, I love reading. It's about actually enjoying the show. I get a higher enjoyment out of decent to good English dubs than I do out of the Japanese version. If the dub is truly unlistenable, which believe it or not is becoming rarer these days, or the Japanese cast is especially stellar, I'll watch the Japanese version.

for some reference, here is the R1 cover for one of the early volumes

The original is always better than any dub

Well, I'm not really a fan of spoken Japanese. Yes, I know, that's borderline blasphemy, but for some reason the Japanese language never grew on me. I spawned from the circa-2001 Toonami generation, and I guess you could say I never grew out of dubs. I never watched anime because it was Japanese, I watch it because of the exotic-looking art and the stories that you can't find in most American animation.

DUB > SUB

The hell? Then why are you on an imageboard which discusses nothing but Japanese-voiced anime? There are no room for dub-lovers here.

I basically come for the images, the occasional spoiler, and the lulz. The comments posted here can be absolutely side splitting at times, and it's amusing to see so much venom being spewed forth amongst everyone.

dubs are fucking embarrassingly bad. Learn to fucking read you twats.

I like good anime dubs too! I also like Santa Claus and Bigfoot. Too bad they all don't exists.

just get an episode or two off of one of the dual audio DVDrippers.
>>
There are good dubs and bad dubs, just like there are good subs and bad subs. It depends on how many work the people that made 'em put into them. Most of the team we get cheap shitty subs with some random VAs, that's why we hate dubs.

I still think Chobbits dub was decent ...
