Just finished this, what a ride. I may be stupid but who did negi actually end up with? Was it actually Eva? Not to mention didn't they say he can't have kids now cause hes a demon-like being? Then how did Chao come to be? It's possible I missed something.
Negima general I guess. If this turns into a UQ thread, it can't be helped.
Ending was whatever.
Negi ended up most likely with gymnastics girl, it was open in the last chapter, but she called Negi's dad father, so it's a sign, kinda. The spell ended differently for Negi than for Eva, that's why he didn't end up being a vampire. Most probably they had multiple children, some of which ended up on Mars, like the Chao-branch, others stayed. I guess there will be some kind of prequel.
He didn't end up with anyone.
It was a gutless cowardly open-ended, ending.
The reason I said Eva is because of this page. Specifically the line, "You are both the same kind of people" implying demon-like?
Chao is alternate timeline Negi's child so it doesn't has any connection at all with the Negi in this timeline.
He's a not-human immortal.
I think he's more his own unique beast if anything.
Yea but she questions if its even possible for them to hook up, then implies they are of similar make so it may be fine.
>It was probably just Asuna and people are over-reading her teasing.
Between Eva and Negi? Most likely.
Fucking time travel...
He's the SAME as Eva. She's Ice element, he's electric. Yeah, he kinda ends up with her and the robot (gettin' charged every night UNF).
OP we found out who Negi ended up with (or at least, ONE of them) because of UQ
not sure if spoiler alert so i just did it anyways
Does anyone have a link to the mediafire w/ the rescanned volume(s)?
Well that's random as well.
Magic world a shit, ending a super shit.
Manga peaked at the festival arc, I should have stopped reading at that point.
It was Fate end.
how so? wouldn't preserving the strong magic bloodline be ideal? hers was one of the strongest to begin with, so it makes sense.
That doesn't confirm anything, really.
something something multiple ending something something stayed tuned to see if UQ holder does anything about it.
Asuna was best girl. She didn't even need to win, she was just best.
Just realized that picture doesnt prove that. What that picture shows is that negi had a DAUGHTER who then married the SON of konoka konoe (and therefore inheriting the name konoe) If negi married konoka then the other gravestones would have the springfield name.
>Not to mention didn't they say he can't have kids now cause hes a demon-like being?
Eva was a messed up prototype for what Negi was supposed to be. Chances are that he had the best of everything with few drawbacks.
If you want to know who he ended up with read UQ Holder. You get a gravestone and everything.
I've heard that in the case of big families like the konoes that families name would be inherited regardless. Not sure how true it is though.
HOLY FUCK. Never realized that.
I'd imagine "Springfield" is a big enough name to take precedence.
It has a lot of meaning in the magic world, but weren't the Konoes really important in magic politics. That's the kind of thing I'd assume they would want to keep.
I mean either way it seems to me that akamatsu is just trolling us.
BUT WHAT FUCKING HAPPENED TO THE LIFEMAKER
With the way akamatsu is he probably knows it could be either way and is holding it in our faces to fuck with us.
huh, you're right. in that case we'll have to wait for UQ to resolve this, because this is the only page with negi's daughter in it.
also now that I think about it, I'm guessing this MIGHT mean that something bad happened between konoka and setsuna after the events of negima? because in UQ the shinmei-ryu clan is distant enough to seemingly have no relations with the konoe clan, which doesn't make much sense.
Touta is the lifemaker.
He has the best of everything. Strong as hell father, mother and ancestors use broken as fuck magic, trained by the most powerful mage in the world and one of the best martial artist of China, gained pseudo-immortality. He is also a genius (sometimes).
it also looks like that weapon of his is DESIGNED for power creep. he's just going to have to overcome his strength limits several times and power up, saiyan style.
until he finds that he needs a second one to dual wield, of course.
Dropped it because of shotacon harem nonsense.
This is how I felt about the ending.
I didn't notice earlier but what's being implied here? That Touta is already dead?
Negima was a good ride until all the quick ending bullshit Akamatsu pulled. Now I'm reading UQ Holder weekly just to see if Akamatsu can pull off another decent story.
Not believing it's just like Nanoha pls.
It's said directly in the manga.
The Springfield family line has NOTHING to it before Nagi.
Konoe is old as fuck, powerful both magic wise and politics wise, so, in Japan especially, you cannot possibly not marry into the family.
I want to watch the anime because SHAFT, but should I also read the manga?
First read the manga, the OVAs make no sense without it.
Then DON'T FUCKING TOUCH THE XEBEC ADAPTATION.
Then watch the OVAs.
Then, if you really like the characters, go watch ?! too.
The film does not exist.
Negima was great up until around volume 26. After that volume, things went down hill and rarely went back to good. And the ending was a disaster.
It's such a shame, really. Ken really blew it big time.
The sequel to Negima 'UQ Holder' can't even hold a candle to Negima, not even at its worse. Threads and fanbase of it can't compare to during Negima's reign on /a/.
Alright, thank you very much.
why would you tell someone to do that.
The anime is considered shit mainly because of the weird alternative ending.
If you want my opinion, it should be:
Read manga until they're getting ready to travel to Mundus Magicus, then go see the tsubasa ala alba ova's, followed by the manga part of the entrance to Mundus Magicus, with the mou hitotsu no sekai ova's. Continue with the manga unitl it finishes, and if you want more Negima, you can check out the original 26 ep anime, the character intro shorts, and the natsu and haru ovas.
Don't check out Negima!? or the movie or the live action, they all suck
By "the OVAs" I mean "Ala Alba" and "Mou Hitotsu no Sekai".
Because it was a fun spinoff with completely shitty plot. Also, this guy seems ready to watch anything by Shaft, so he better watch ?! than DitVB for example.
I liked the whole escape from the palace thing too, though. And you must admit there were some really good moments all the way through the end of the Mars arc. Eva one-hitting everybody makes for the best spell in the manga, for example.
There's on Negima anime.
And what are you guys talking about? Negima manga is on hiatus. It hasn't ended yet. Seriously, when is chapter 344 going to ever come out?
So is the Xebec adaptation good or bad? >>101120249 says don't touch it, but you seem to say that it's more acceptable than !?
>Also, this guy seems ready to watch anything by Shaft, so he better watch ?! than DitVB for example.
Don't worry, I'll get to DitVB eventually.
>The sequel to Negima 'UQ Holder' can't even hold a candle to Negima, not even at its worse.
So, what direction do you think UQ Holder will take after 50-100 more chapters? Negima turned from school romcom to full-blown fantasy and battles, UQ Holder will go from scifi and battles to? Back to romcom? Slice of Life, merging into Aria?
The only reason anyone is reading UQ Holder is to find out this answer.
And there lies Akamatsu's ultimate trap, that asshole.
>So is the Xebec adaptation good or bad?
I am the one who said you shouldn't touch it.
It's kind of bad as an adaptation, and it stops before the school festival arc, so I see zero reason to waste your time with it. Also, the last arc, where they go anime original, is really fucking shitty, as >>101120447 testifies too.
Eva made him immortal in order to save him from death. It's like you don't read the manga at all.
I'd recommend watching it ONLY if you crave more Negima after finishing the manga, though remember not to go with high expectations of it. The only good thing about it is that the Kyoto arc is adapted decently, and we get to see Eva's spell, but whatever. Negima!? is a different story I didn't care about, so it was shit to me.
The character intros are ok to watch before or after reading the manga.
Avoid the movie at all costs
You mean answers AND Eva. Most probably has given up on the former, and mainly stick around for Eva.
I'm reading it for answers and because I know negima took some time to get going so I'm going to give this one due time as well. also I fucking love magic explanations and negima was full of that shit.
Well, guess I'll pass on the Xebec adaptation, follow >>101120447 plan and watch !? afterwards to satisfy my SHAFT cravings. Thanks for the help.
if you come to like any of the established characters you may want to skip !? anyways.
>follow >>101120447 plan
Uhhh... If I remember correctly, a lot of the fun fun training is skipped in the OVA. Then again, it's been ages since I've reread that part. I think it would be easier just to read everything; the Shaft OVAs would be worth it either way.
The end of ep1 of Mou Hitotsu still ranks as the best anime battle I've ever seen up to date.
He ended up with Fate. Why?
- Total shock on Asuna's part. She should have been prepared to hear practically any of the names on the list.
- In Misora's ending page, it says that she let Negi off the hook from his promise (telling her the name of a girl he liked) with the line, "Really? Well, that's interesting, so I'll accept it," or something. So the person he liked isn't a girl.
- Precedent. When a magical child becomes a same sex rival of someone named Fate, they inevitably go gay for each other.
- It's hilarious.
>Avoid the movie at all costs
Is this advice still accurate given that the manga ending wasn't really better?
So which one of them got pregnant?
holy shit I wasn't even aware that Akamatsu made a new series let alone in the same universe. When I first read the final chapter I just said fuck it am done. Does UQ holder feel right though?
Negi was sperm donor for Konoka and Setsuna.
Well, guess I'll read the OVA parts and then take a break to watch them.
What irritates me so much is how vague everything is in the, I could cite evidence for any of the pairings, even yours can be argued for.
GODDAMN KEN, even Kotaro got a good ending, why can't Negi.
Good thing I did.
They did a pretty good job translating the tense scene from the manga. I also dig the style of when Negi meets Rakan.
Well, people are gonna watch it anyway, given that they like manga but hate the ending, since the movie ends differently. And I guess that UQ holder is gonna be more in line with the manga's ending than with the movie's ending, so I'd just rather not recommend the movie.
>Is this advice still accurate given that the manga ending wasn't really better?
Nah, the film is worse.
Which is a really tough feat to achieve, but it still manages it.
>They did a pretty good job translating the tense scene from the manga. I also dig the style of when Negi meets Rakan.
Meant mostly the Ala Alba training. Yeah, the Mou Hitotsu training was done well as fuck.
Oh shit, you meant the battles. I am an idiot.
Yeah, agreed 100%
>Still no RHS for chapter 7 and up for UQ Holder
Why, CanonRap? Why? ;_;
- Negi's total desensitization of girls from all his experiences with his class.
- Chamo showing he's thinking only about men in one of the chapters.
Next time I do /tg/ stuff, my character is going to be named Fate, and is going to try to let people befriend the shit out of him. Or her. Probably her, I am not that gay yet.
I thought Negi was supposed to become immortal like Eva or some shit because of the long term effects of Magia Erebea. Was he killed?
Normally I am all for blaming the author when things go south but not this time. After all, Ken had to deal with:
-coming up with a way to legally have various manga online while getting money to the authors and making a point track down old, out of print stuff
-the various publishers attempting to change the law order to take the rights from creators and Ken leading the opposition to this
-his contract being up and his publishers attempting to screw him on it
Ken obviously had multiple things that he could not get in. And as someone who regularly put his own money on the line in order to get projects done right, if he did not get to some things he was literally unable to do it.
That idiocy is one of many problems.
By the time he became an adult he probably was very famous, and would rise suspicions if he didn't age. I still think he faked his death (kinda like Evangeline took the Yukihime disguise).
>implying that it isn't a fake grave
Negima was supposed to entirely be schoolmagic stuff. Just in mid way Ken realized its shonen potential, and it went fucking well.
We feel that UQ start is slow because it feels slow compared to the broken powerlevels we got at Negima, but if you compare it to Negima start, UQ wins in term of quality, think about it (this can be arguable as Negima start is a completely different genre). Even now, everything is already broken at UQ, and its just starting, give it time.
just like how nagi was dead right?
have fun though when the real plot twist comes and he's actually dead
Truth be told, having Nodoka to fawn over helped me a lot for the first 6 volumes or so. Eva doesn't really cut it in UQ.
I just want to see Chachamaru again
and i like this eva disguise more than her old disguise
You and I are the only Asunafags in the history of /a/.
>Negima was supposed to entirely be schoolmagic stuff. Just in mid way Ken realized its shonen potential, and it went fucking well.
Not so much. In truth Ken wanted to get away from the harem stuff and make a magic/fighting series (mostly) after Love Hina. Seeing as LH was the most popular of the genre to date his publisher told him to write another one. So he started it off as a harem and slowly let the fighting creep in.
>You and I are the only Asunafags in the history of /a/.
Hey, there are more of us. And I am glad to see that someone else got the eyes right.
I liked the sisterly role she came to play through the series. The beach scene and when they made up was one of my favorites
Fuck you anon.
In the end, was she a sister or a cousin? I haven't read the last 5-10 chapters. I ... just couldn't.
she definitely played the role of a big sister for most of the series though I don't remember/care to remember the actual specifics
The start of Negima had magic libraries, masquerade preservation, Chamo pushing pactios with every girl in sight, vampire attacks and more. It wasn't as good as Kyoto but it was a neat introduction.
UQ Holder shows you what type of immortals there are now alright: Fight. Oh and Touta wants to become Bary Manilowe isn't that a barrel of laughs. Here's a genderless love interest because why not. Stop asking me about Negima.
Most people just write Asuna off early because since because she's on the cover she must be like Naru. She was the broest of bros. Also her main weapon can be unlocked in Monster Hunter P3G.
She was his aunt technically.
Oh, yeah, that was it. Now that you mention it...
She was indeed quite the bro. But I personally love Nodoka more.
reminded me of this
Image. She had some kind of rough personality so people say that but in the end she was more of a guardian to him.
also some of my favorite moments in the series are when they touch down with reality and remind you that negi is a fucking 9-10 year old, and I don't mean specifically characters calling it out. It's been too long for me to call many scenes out but off the top of my head I remember him accidentally getting alcohol and crawling into bed with asuna frequently. The latter was played off for haha ecchi comedy sometimes but it was still a little something.
Only watched the first season, so it seems I haven't missed much then?
I think Negi clocked 11 in physical age and 12 in mental before becoming a vampire, honestly. The time travelling and distortions were quite a lot all along the manga... probably one of the best aspects at least for me.
She was a bit of a counterforce in the earliest volumes. She starts to shine in Kyoto with the rest of the series and that's when I started to love her.
Go read the School Festival arc NOW.
After you finish it, feel free to drop the manga.
It looks like we will be getting a lot of answers in UQ Holder, even if subtly. There's already been way more references than I'd expect.
You forgot to mention this:
>Haruna: Dammit! You don’t go down easy, do you?!
>Konoka: I wouldn’t want to fight Negi when he’s using that technique…
>Chamo: Ooooohhhh! It looks like it’s time for me to bust out my super technique!
>[upper-left]: Lightning Sword! / Kyaaaa!
>Chamo: By applying my Ermine Fairy Thought Meter ability on a single individual, I can find out how much of his thoughts focus on a given person!
>Asuna: But! / <That would be…>
>[Negi’s brain: The entire left side is “father”, the upper right is “Rakan-san”, middle-right is “Fate”, bottom-right is “Kotarou-kun”.
>Asuna: How can you only have room in your head for men?!
>Setsuna: Oh? / <aside: Nice one, Asuna-san! >
>Kuu Fei’s aside: Figures.
>Chisame: Well, when you think about it, this is kind of expected...
>Konoka: Looks like everyone’s unhappy with this, huh.
>Haruna: This is a surprise.
>[bottom]: The End <3
>Only watched the first season
The anime and the manga are completely and utterly different, especially if you watched the SHAFT series.
He's a young boy who I don't even think is implied to start puberty in the course of the series. His dad, his role model, his rival, and his friend are all logical results.
Any Chisame bros?
KISSIN COUSINS, EH?
She is in my top 3.
I think Negi would be confused rather than embarrassed if Asuna was insisting he confess right after he effectively confessed to her. Plus, right before than he said, "You're the one most important to me, Asuna-san," or something to that effect.
Basically, it wasn't her, but Asuna was still the strongest contender if Negi's mysterious crush never went anywhere.
And is funny because Fate's harem is bigger than Negi's
So this is where my /ss/ fetish came from...
But Namek is worthy
Public confession versus private confession
Fifty-something orphans from Fate vs. less than thirty girls from his class and others like Anya from Negi.
Add Yue's harem
Know what'll totally roast your noodle? Love Hina is the same universe too
she and Chachamaru are my fav by far
and my 3rd is new Eva, pls dont hate
already knew that actually, I followed to this after LH. Didn't know that the Hina blade was also that strong just from what was shown in LH
Fate's harem > Negi's harem
>OP we found out who Negi ended up with (or at least, ONE of them) because of UQ
>not sure if spoiler alert so i just did it anyways
It's still non-definitive, since it could be that a child of Negi's by another girl married into the Konoe clan.
So, i was the only Yuunafag?
>I didn't notice earlier but what's being implied here? That Touta is already dead?
That she turned him back then, and that she lied about how his parents died.
It could be years before we get the details, though.
People were pissed off at her for some reason near the end.
Why? if is for her appearance after the timeskip, yeah, it didn't benefit her
>Very first UQ Holder spoiler pic was Evangeline
That was one of the best days of my life.
I actually dropped Negima around 3/4 of the way through, and like UQ Holder on its own merits
