Smart guys only
Won't care until Hox graces us with his translations
I meant to say the whole volume translated.
I fucked up that whole post.
But this is Hox translation.
The whole volume is in fact translated and uploaded, check it
welp ride's over. time to read it all over again. at least i cant be hurt anymore than i am already by this
You best not be joking nigger
Just read it.
This manga started out interesting, but I realized as I read the last chapters that my only thoughts were "what a waste of time".
The whole volume is translated.
What the hell?
Did Hox do his normal thread/stream and I missed it?
normal life is boring. that's kinda the point
I dont read fiction to be reminded of that
What the hell was the point of this manga? I can't even remember half the cast because they were so forgettable. Why does the author waste so much ink with pointless black pages everywhere? What a hipster manga.
well, stick to shonen. i'm not sure what you're expecting from a story that tries to tell a story about growing up in a realistic world.
Started great, then Punpun became an asshole. This last volume was pretty good though, I liked it.
The ending was terrible and it has nothing to do with realism
i blame mama punpun for what punpun became
why was it terrible or is it just "muh opinions"?
Of course its an opinion what else would it be?
And stop the muh shit
With all that time wasted on Punpun, Hox could have done at least 13 more volumes of Sangokushi. Goddamn.
just trying to distinguish whether you're just a troll or someone who can actually be part of an actual discussion. apparently you're not the latter. opinions are okay, but you should be a bit more specific.
The real question is - what redeeming values did it have?
I feel empty but i cant really describe what i'm thinking about now.
Dont get me wrong i love the manga but i feel it kinda empty, got a lot of mix feelings i dont know how to put it out
This is sort of a fitting ending in my opinion, endless questions without answer, that's life, I guess.
what questions do you have?
i feel like everything that needed to be answered got answered
everything else is not really important
>ITS THE CIIIIIRCLEEE OF LIIIIFEEEEEE
If you disliked the ending, you're objectively dumb.
The manga was shit.
>No dump with /a/
It's so fucking obvious it's rushed it's ridiculous.
I liked the childhood punpun had, and when he became a triangle and was searching for Aiko like a retard. But since killing her mother it all went down the drain. This last volume had almost no impact on me.
One thing is pretty clear: Nanjou is what Asano wants to become after the sex change.
this poses another question: is really punpun a completely fictional story?
you're objectively dumb. Ending was terrible but it fits Punpuns terrible life by being with worst girl and raising worst kid.
it really is up to you to support your own statements, if you aren't trolling. but i don't like to get into why i like it because it is slightly spoiler-ish.
none of the following is well thought out as i still need to digest the chapters
when the milky way painting comes up, and the artist admits that she didn't really ever see the milky way originally, we get to the idea of how we mask reality with our own ideals/biases. but it ties into more than that how we see others, ourselves, dreams. pun pun 's life is distorted because of very strong "non real" (what that is is left to interpretation" influences on how he interprets reality. he relied heavily on that distortion to drive him into action, which is why he had to kill "god" and see things more clearly without reliance on "god". the kicker is that despite how heart wrenching his story is, he's just a guy that doesn't stand out as being an actual MC and even his childhood friends don't even remember him. which ties into the whole milky way message where where there is always more, or less to things than it seems.
pun pun is all about the mystery/drama of the everyday that we never see.
This is the worst shit ever.
I agree i feel it kinda rushed, but not objectively bad , i feel it was more like an artistic desicion. You know the whole deal of the innocence and wonder being lost in an adult world beacuse of growing up and all that jazz.
I think that's why i feel empty and the ending feels the same way, life its not really an adventure where you got your best girl and shit like that, its quick and sometimes flavorless. That's why i think the ending its good but i still dont know what to think about the manga and the character of Ai as a whole(incluiding their realtionship as a whole) maybe im not hipster enough
won't change his relationship dynamic, since he was a retard since the beginning
Such a great page. It wasn't in the magazine raws, was it?
It still was shit, at first I thought he died but amnesia? Really?
Also, this page is so misleading.
Wait, what was Punpun and Sachi's relationship at the end?
he left with the rest of the group, what's left is just everything that's not his memories/soul it wasn't misleading at all
>pun pun is all about the mystery/drama of the everyday that we never see.
I agree completely, but also its about the coming of age and how people change in said circumstances, ranging from a broken heart to cults.
he's not married to her, but he is "involved" in their lives
I love how people try to interpret stuff onto something when there is actually nothing. It's like school all over again.
it's not just about the young people
mama punpun and uncle onodera are just as much a part of the story and emotional torture
>seeing Punpun's face
IT SHOULDN'T SHOCK ME THAT MUCH
Of course but they are pictures that we see trough the travel that pun pun has to live trough
BUT WE ONLY SAW HIS MOUTH AND EYE
After I read the entire thing I could understand it. I just was in a sea of suffering for a moment.
Goodbye Punpun, you did it ;_;
We didn't see his face, though. We came close, but we only saw his bandaged face.
Oyasumi Punpun ending is pretty crazy for me. Of course, no manga end will ever be as crazy or bizarre to me as Evangelion ending.
except pun pun wasn't there to see the birth of pun pun 2.0
When did we see his face?
God, I so fucking hate that Good vibrations plot
Good point sir But still i dont know what to think about it
End of Punpun when?
This is what he was referring to.
Objectively dumb idiots here
they're called trolls, ignore them, please
>we only saw his bandaged face.
I know, it shouldn't fucking shock me that much!
Why would you link batoto instead of Hox's blog?
You're gonna carry that weight.
after he cut "god" out he will not have the bird head ever again
I'm surprised that this isn't all over the front page. Punpun ending is a pretty astronomical and mind boggling event.
He was a little bird at the end again.
i know you can't tell, but, that's actually a zoom in of his forehead
Many anons read the ending from the raws and magazines I think.
But I don't know, Hox pages had over 700 votes on the Punpun poll.
Fuck Punpun. It's a shame that he didn't die.
Because it ended 3 months ago.
Never mind, then.
bird head != bird
Because someone translated the chapters months ago, also raws were posted and spoilers were here and there.
You also have a bunch of morons who come to /a/ just to ask when instead of checking Hox's blog for official word. You'll see more as they find out, but it does feel like it's going out on a whimper without a live.
It was still quite a ride though. Thanks, Hox.
man that ending felt empty
>Aiko is dead
>shimizu has amnesia
>nobody remembers punpun or cares if he's around
>he doesn't get a girl
>lives a normal boring life
After all the shit he went through I just wanted to see the poor fucker be happy, sure he was satisfied, but he was just lying to himself.
The manga as a whole was a total mindfuck and it's still too deep for me
>seiki pressing the button
>who punpun was actually talking to on the burning roof
>who god is
>the god of poop
>what punpuns real name is
>the darumi doll with the missing eye
>the akashik records
>the meteor shower
And in the end it just looks like the circle of shit is just going to repeat itself with a typical boy meets girl scenario. I honestly wish this series had ended with punpun and his gang of friends escaping the burning building, holding hands and enjoying their lives under the milky way. Sure it's sappy but it was the happiest moment in the entire series, everything after that is just depressing.
What the fuck? Is it that hard to level the pages? This looks like shit, dude.
I hate how newfags like this one show up when something gets popular.
What makes you think punpun doesn't get a girl?
Are you fucking kidding me? I've been reading punpun since it came out. The quality of these pages is fucking shit you giant retard.
Chuuni girl best girl of Punpun.
Get out then.
Hey guys, remind me again who's that teacher guy in the last two chapters
>I've been reading punpun since it came out.
How come you asked that stupid question then?
>Ive beeen here all week!
the friend that moved away in elementary school, however he's called
Pun pun is too much of a bitch to man up and be a father to nanjo's kid, so they're never going to be together, plus she's pretty much babysitting him at this point. And now that aikos dead he's gonna be so filled with regret and hooked on her he'll never feel the same about any girl again.
What are you fucking TALKING about? Do you know what leveling is? Do you know how scanlation works? Jesus fuck. Fucking idiots, all of you.
Do you mean black levels? Are you one of those RHS-fags that likes to run a million filters over everything?
Fucking this. The good vibrations sideplot is boring as fuck.
>sure he was satisfied, but he was just lying to himself.
i'm not sure that trying to be a millionaire or any high tension situation is what pun pun is looking for. a simple life that doesn't require mental/emotional torture is probably looking good to him
One of the childhood friends with the glasses. Remember when he moved away and then we saw him at the hospital?
>Not reading the manga again before reading the ending.
Harumi, he was punpun's childhood friend that went to the abandoned building with him. Last we saw him, he was talking to punpun's mother
No. Just one. Black and white leveling. Black should be #000 and white should be #fff.
Y'know, you're really embarrassing yourself with being a newfag but pretending to be an oldfag.
Nice counter argument. Don't reply again, mongrel.
>over 100+ chapters for a dissatisfying ending
>Last we saw him, he was talking to punpun's mother
ohhhh i totally forgot about that
I don't need any "argument" when you're doing all the work of embarrassing yourself on your own.
All that cursing just makes you look even more butthurt.
>i knew it was shit before i read it
>Seki pressing the button
I don't quite remember but wasn't that to do with the dude's mother.
>Who Punpun was talking to
>Who God is
This is a tricky one. I'll get back to it.
>The god of poop
I think I finally get this one now. I think the god of poop is almost like a shinigami. It makes a lot of sense considering the circumstances.
>Punpun's real name
>Daruma doll and the missing eye
I'll get back to it.
Rain of 'gods'
Who is Afro god? Afro god is the daruma's missing eye I think. The inability to complete one's dreams, despair. (You're supposed to fill in the missing eye and make a wish.) Likewise, the rain of them meant the granting of wishes.
I thought the disjoint Goodbye, followed by Punpun was brilliant. Didn't play into cheap rituals.
>tfw Oyasumi pun pun finished
>tfw ashita no joe still isnt finished yet
>stuck at a cliffhanger, one of the most iconic manga/animes in history
It's not about money or success, had punpun not been a total fuck head he could have easily lead a happy life with nanjo or aiko with them giving him the moral support he needed to make something of himself. Instead he cut off all ties to his family and holed himself in, warping his psyche.
because everyone wants to get so hyped about reading so long only to be disappointed as hell...
Naw he's a normalfag now.
Well I AM butthurt. Why would you ruin a great story like this with not leveling the scans?
Literally every group does that. Only raws get uploaded like this. Fuck you, Hox. I can see the back of the page bleeding through on nearly every page and there's artifacts EVERYWHERE.
where to buy this shirt, i need something to remind me.
Well that's just, like, your opinion, man. I fucking hate scanners that do that shit for no reason except "muh blacks".
The only jarring thing about it is Hox used pure black for the typesetting. If he didn't level the scans then he should have gone with a more off black. But who really gives a shit?
>seriously rereading an entire series as soon as the ending comes
That's like going on a quest, getting to the final dungeon and deciding that you hadn't gotten a good enough experience and restarting from your hometown. It would take an average man at a few days to marathon all this with a busy schedule and he'd have to dodge spoilers in the meantime. To hell with that slay the final boss
Who was this guy again?
If you really would've been around since the beginning, you knew he's been doing it like that since forever.
He's doing it all on his own and you greedy fuck are compaling about muh blacks. You sound like a 12-year old, seriously get a grip.
Read the thread, it was just said.
>he was just lying to himself.
But isn't that the essence of happiness?
>Who was Harumin
he tried to make something of himself. leaving was an (unsuccessful) attempt to be more self reliant/get away from emotional torture. i said it before and i'll say it again, mama pun pun is to blame for what transformed pun pun to emo pun pun.
Roll back to elementary.
Welp, that was depressing. I was hoping Punpun would get his shit together but it seems like he's still the same from the beginning of the manga.
Don't do that anon.
So what? Dude, leveling takes 10 seconds. It's clear I'm talking to someone without any knowledge about scanlation, so please just stop trying to pretend you know what you're talking about.
You can't defend this: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/220594/oyasumi-punpun_v13_ch140_by_hox/15
I'm about to throw up.
He was in the hospital with PunMom as well.
He always wanted to be killed by Aiko? Does that mean he originally skipped out on her on purpose?
Time to reread all 13 volumes.
Punpun's name can't honestly be "punpun", because his father's name was "punpun papa" and his mother went by "punpun mama". He's got to have a legitimate name. He was about to say it in the hospital bed and then of course they cut out to a different panel. Even Harumi in the last chapter says "even now I couldn't remember his name". Punpun's real name is never revealed
>implying pun pun didn't get his shit together to become a self reliant person
>implying being thrown into the abyss then climbing out to arrive on the surface isn't a huge feat
No, fuck no.
Wasn't it just Punyama Onodera?
>he never talked to his father again
>never spoke to his uncle again
>and wasn't even by his mothers side even in death
She may have been a bitch, but seriously there has to be a line drawn somewhere. He could have at least been a little cooler to his dad, in the end he didn't do anything wrong. I can understand not liking yuruichi, because his girl raped him.
What's the whole deal with Pegasus and good vibrations?
>finding the girl you love dead from suicide
>having no family to talk to
>going on the lamb for half a month
>cutting your eye out
>making you a normalfag
No chance, he's still mentally unstable, he just didn't show it.
He was literally Jesus.
hard to say what happened with punpun papa. it is obvious that mama wrote his letters but we don't know if he ever seriously tried to reach out to him prior to the death
>I'm talking to someone without any knowledge about scanlation
Talking out of your ass on /a/ makes you look like a retard, y'know?
Even if leveling could be done with 2, 3 clicks, why would he bother wasting his time on something he doesn't care about and most people don't care about either?
Instead of bitching about it like a little kid, you could just go ahead and do it yourself or just plain shut up.
Onodera was his mother's maiden name and Punyama was his fathers last name. That's why he was called Onodera after his parent's divorce, she literally made him change his last name to disassociate himself form his father.
That was his father's surname, wasn't it?
>seiki pressing the button
Seiki was hired by fluffy bro to turn on and off his mothers tv after he's gone
>who punpun was actually talking to on the burning roof
>who god is
Punpun himself, his lurking madness. It's a sort of symbolic shit that shows how everyone can snap at some point and we latch onto something to blame on.
>the god of poop
Sort of death omen that Shimizu keeps seeing after he snapped when his mother died.
He is.. a lot of things to be honest. Embodiment of happiness, understanding, messiah figure stuff like that.
>what punpuns real name is
Doesn't matter. Thats the trick.
Same as the above.
>the darumi doll with the missing eye
Embodiment of Punpun latching onto his past (aiko) and how it turned him insane (dark spot, "god")
>the akashik records
Turning point in the story when proper happiness is not achieved but it's at least balanced and livable (referring to pegasus monologs, punpuns inner last monologue and events in two last chapters.)
>the meteor shower
Also i wonder is midoris child pun puns or we cant be sure coz uncle is also a bird thing.
What? I know he kind of parallels Jesus with his 12 students and all, but everything he said just seemed nonsensical to me. What did he mean by good vibrations and dark spot?
What's it supposed to look like?
So the two kids who had more issues, Aiko and Shimizu, are the ones who get the worst fate.
Not that I wanted a happy ending, but fuck you too Asano.
Of course not, but the guilt of breaking that first promise is what made him start to hate himself, and he always linked all his problems to that root.
But looking back on the last few volumes, a lot of the times he got agressive with her can be seen as him trying to spite her so she hurts him.
And she does, twice.
He will always have problems. But his stability grows as his memories of Aiko fades. And the other woman will never leave him.
CRAAAAAAWWWLIIINNN IN MYY SKIIIIIIIINNNNNNN
>He is.. a lot of things to be honest. Embodiment of happiness, understanding, messiah figure stuff like that.
Why did they all kill themselves then?
What the fuck happened with me, /a/?
When I got to that page the tears started to roll down my cheeks and I started to sob.
I fucking sobbed. It's been years since I've sobbed because I was crying.
got you right in the feels
All he wanted to do was to make the world a better place. He didn't mind sacrificing himself. The dark spot is merely a synonym for the evil in the world, that we each hold onto.
That makes more sense. God it's been a long time reading this.
But annon, some people function that way.
>the darumi doll with the missing eye
"The eyes of Daruma are often blank when sold. Monte A. Greer, author of Daruma Eyes, described the "oversized symmetrical round blank white eyes" as a means to keep track of goals or big tasks and motivate them to work to the finish. The recipient of the doll fills in one eye upon setting the goal, then the other upon fulfilling it. In this way, every time they see the one-eyed Daruma, they recall the goal."
Since the eye is lost punpun will never fulfill his dreams.
We got to see pun pun get a decent end. We all thought it was going ot be a suicide end.
Wrong. A bunch of extra eyes rained down in the meteor shower. That's exactly why Punpun has some semblance of happiness.
How did he think killing himself and his students would change anything?
Me too. I've never gotten close to crying with an anime, so I wasn't expecting it from a manga, but I went down like a bitch at this part, especially with Punpun going full denial.
all people function that way. if you didn't, you'd be concerned about things beyond your power and be miserable because some relative/old friend/puppy/polar bear/african gots nothing to eat. it is easier to believe that there is nothing more than whats around you.
What he symbolized was one thing, the fact that he was fucking insane was another.
Because it did exactly that if you didn't notice.
Why is punpun and his family drawn as birds, and not something else?
I really don't know how to feel about this ending.
I know it's not a "happy" ending persay or a bad one.
Punpun's still F'd up and will probably always be, but I'm happy that he's with friends.
Asano already put it in there with Sachi. It has no real meaning.
they're bird brains
Man, and I was thinking on a suicide end. That page was beautiful.
I think it was a good ending, Punpun has always been about showing a realistic (mostly) fucked up life and how people deal with it, and this is a fitting end. Not a bang, but a "meh".
Did anyone laugh hard at this?
Didn't that girl kill herself? Or is this someone else?
It's read the fucking manga.
I mean, the pages leading up to that, and the pages after it were so damn good. You really didn't words to convey shit at that moment. Asano Inio is a fucking genius.
So what was the point with Pegasus?
Agreed. It's fittingly unfulfilling. Asano made a point that it was all pissing in the wind with it looping back to the beginning. All this repeats forever. That was the major point I thought.
Asano Inio is not a genius. He is a crazy tranny.
I didn't notice. From what I'm getting from this thread, he was somehow the cause of the meteor shower?
Also, what is the thing in the barrel supposed to be?
To duel with the dark spot in a game of Pop-Up Pirate!
Doesn't make him any less of a genius.
So what does the big lips duck creature symbolize?
Man, Sachi is the fucking best. That woman is a Saint.
It was a game. The afro god lost. Thus, the meteor shower and what I come to understand as daruma eyes and wishes.
OH that makes sense in that it doesnt now
Thanks for the clarification anon
Does anyone know if Asano is gonna start with any new manga?
Man, Punpun got off easy, I though he's gotta be charged with murder of both Aiko and her mom since there's no evidence he didn't do it.
>there will never be a Sachi in your life
A tranny one I believe.
I felt like Harumi was gonna pull a Patrick Bateman and start killing people.
Hopefully, I love her art style.
What about the times when it showed up before? It would usually be standing in the middle of a regular city scene.
I'm still not sure if that page was serious or not. Fuck.
Xer, chech your privilege.
Don't be retarded.
The meteor shower was Punpunia blowing up into pieces, connecting the surreal side of the story with reality. I guess.
Already did a month ago.
Who did? Afro-god?
So who did Punpun see when the rooftop was on fire?
The duck thing
what was wrong with the both of them? Did she actually love pun pun or did she become some mid fucked victim of his abusive relationship and kill her self as a result?
he shouldve just taken her to the hospital and went to jail
What's the name in romanji? and what is it about, is someone translating it?
I think it was just a mascot. No real meaning to it.
Is it really about trannies? I kinda want a new serious manga about that since Hourou Musuko ended
i want to read it all again now the hox scanlation is out but it will just make me too depressed again. fuck.
She killed herself BECAUSE PunPun said to her that he'd take all the blame, so that nothing would happen to her.
She didn't want Punpun to git fkd, so she killed herself, as that was the only way he wouldn't take all the blame.
Same here, Hourou Musuko kinda sucked after a while though, all the love triangles and shit.
I'm not ready either.
>Already did a month ago.
Oh Jesus, oh Jesus.
Where are the scans?
From the cover, the title is Kinoko takenoko. No idea what's it about. I just know it's monthly.
i see. cant believe i missed that. was pun pun really considering killing her in the woods before that or was it a misunderstanding? i cant tell when pun pun is sincere instead of crazy
I'm sure she was nearly at her death anyways. She was honestly pretty fucked at that point.
Thanks, there doesn't seem to be any English information about it ;_;
I have no clue. Only thing I can conclude is that Aiko is no where as mentally sick as Punpun is and being with him fucked her up.
> was pun pun really considering killing her in the woods before that or was it a misunderstanding?
Misunderstanding. Or maybe PunPun was testing her, to see if she'd get scared and stop trusting him, as he even put it that way
>If you can't believe in me, then just what can you go believing in?
Hell, he was pretty fucked up at that time, but I don't think he'd try to kill her.
Agreed, but they were just about to go to a hospital/police station.
Because she was already feeling guilty as fuck for dragging punpun into that whole mess, and him saying he'd take all the blame made it much worse.
I doubt he ever intended to kill her, even at beach, especially since we now know all he wanted was for her to do it to him, so all the more reason to scare her and force her to take action.
Oh huh, I just realised the fact that god being in Punpun's eye only serves to reinforce the fact that Afro god was in fact the missing eye.
Old news OP.
So uh the fuck happened to Aiko? Did those middle school kids just steal her corpse?
Also I want this
They called 911. That's why punpun saw the ambulance shortly after he left.
They stole the corpse and fucked it endlessly,
>reading that terrible scanlation that came months ago
N-no, thank you.
They found out that she's dead and called the police. Middle school kids aren't as dumb as you think
Fuck, now I'm feel empty and don't want to do anything.
I'm assuming they realized she wasn't sleeping and was, in fact, dead, and called the ambulance/police. But there was no sign of either when Punpun got back so maybe they did.
Little kids were not as delusional as Punpun and realized Aiko was dead. They called 911.
They probably called the police and went back home.
Punpun was in a sense, warning them. He didn't need to get his bag, he was in a sense turning himself in.
So where is Hox at anyways?
Punpun could have. In fact, he was next to the booth at that point.
>tfw no punpun merchandise
I really want the punpun keychain or a punpun tee.
He released it in the morning on his page. Why?
So is Punpun's Uncle's kid going to be Punpun 2.0 and have this story of repetition all over again?
Another game for afro god.
In my trip to the moon i got that tee whit the manga
I dont use it a lot tough
Also, Yuichi is a faggot.
You would put stuff inside Aiko, would you?
Well I mean he could be posting on /a/. He'll be round eventually I suppose.
Just finished punpun and NHK today. Why must all these stories feel like pic related, it's like I get it, but then not really.
Ruined my day. I'm not ready yet.
No, seriously. I have things to do right now, but I really wish I could read it. Sadly, I've also been spoiled already. It could've been such a great Christmas if that other shit translator hadn't translated the pages or it was originally released per volume.
I had even prepared some Punpun images I prepared for back then.
Have fun, guys. I can't take this ride with you.
Try saying his name three times in a mirror. He's bound to appear.
he is still not happy
he is still the same as he was when he first became an adult
the difference is that now he knows not to try to change because if he does then he will fuck up again
Does anyone have video's of Asano drawing? I really want to know how he gets these perfect lightning and shadows.
I miss darks.
Missed a few letters there.
All merchandise has either Punpun, Aiko or god, I don't think other characters have anything.
Punpun by no means deserved good end, but got it anyway. Seeing him turn his trainwreck of a life around for a least a bit is nice to see. BUT HOLY SHIT I'M SO PISSED THAT BITCH DIDN'T TELL HIM THAT IT IS HIS KID ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME.
Sorry if it's already been asked and answered but why didn't he go to jail? He did help Aiko to kill her mother after all. Hell, even if she killed herself, it wouldn't be too surprising if they concluded he killed Aiko too.
>going out on a whimper
Honestly the ending itself seems a bit like that. Nothing grandiose. Almost entirely within expectation. I got the answers I was finally looking for and Punpun is just living. Nothing spectacular. Wishes for less complications. But it's because of objectives and expectations that he can't just go away and that's fine. He's just going and there's really not much more than that.
They don't have evidence I guess.
>BUT HOLY SHIT I'M SO PISSED THAT BITCH DIDN'T TELL HIM THAT IT IS HIS KID ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME.
Sachi or Midori? If you're talking about Sachi she clearly stated it wasn't his, if it's Midori you're fucking retarded because they fucked like 5 years ago.
He did go to jail
>she clearly stated it wasn't his
Read between the lines, it is his.
So who is the father?
read between the pixel in the lines dumbass
its the poopgods kid
he supposed to be fucking her corpse in the last panel there?
I haven't re-read it so I could be HORRIBLY wrong, but I thought Sachi's kid was Punpun's. Punpun himself says in the last few chapters that Sachi's kid keeps treating Punpun as her father.
No, he's taking her down from the noose.
He was on probation
There's nothing to read. That one time they had sex was before a one year long timeskip, and we even know her ex forgot his keys at her appartment.
He mentions that his probation ended...
That entire part in my head went: Necrophilia Necrophilia Necrophilia Necrophilia Necrophilia Necrophilia Necrophilia Necrophilia
I'm rather glad it didn't happen.
What a slut
>Probation in criminal law is a period of supervision over an offender, ordered by a court instead of serving time in prison.
>instead of serving time in prison
Sachi's kid is her exhusband's. She fucked him when punpun went full emo after their manga got rejected. Kid treats him as a father yes, but pun pun is not the biological father.
A lot of people are on probation after being in prison.
Thanks, it's a shame they don't show any of the shading though.
thats..pun pun's kid isn't it?
from when he had sex with her.
oh. I read the first 40 or so chapters of punpun a while ago, and decided that I didn't want to read anymore unless I could be sure there would be something worthwhile at the end.
I've seen that image posted around a bit, and I always assumed that he had sunk so low that he was fucking a hanging corpse, and decided that I didn't want any part of it.
in that case, maybe I'll give this thing a shot.
Yes, she was pregnant for 5-6 years you fucking genius.
Is that little girl punpun's daughter?
>I've seen that image posted around a bit, and I always assumed that he had sunk so low that he was fucking a hanging corpse, and decided that I didn't want any part of it.
Even for punpun that is a bit too far.
But Punpun doesn't precise if he spent time in jail.
They fucked when pupun was 16. Yuichi probably freaked out coz he's a paranoid bitch not coz that's punpuns kid. But we will never know >:)
Except that if he actually served the term for killing two people, by the time he got out he'd be at least in his fifties.
Read this anon >>101104697
So what are everyone's current statuses at the end of this manga.
He wasn't talking about Sachi's kid.
>he's gonna be so filled with regret and hooked on her he'll never feel the same about any girl again.
Did you miss the part where he's already mostly forgotten about her?
Ah, I see now.
Am i srsly the only one bummed out coz Harumi didn't end up with the girl with scarred face? (His foult btw)
Fuck off Shimizu, go die in a fire.
Try to stop typing like a retard.
Not being confident about how her voice sounded sure means he completely forgot, especially since he clearly says he'll continue having those yearly ''conversations'' for the rest of his life, and considers it his duty.
>Am i the only one
Fuck off, contrarian.
No, but it doesn't mean he didn't either.
I would guess that the most he could possibly get charged with would be something like helping a criminal. I doubt he would ever be charged for murder. Who knows if Aiko left a note or anything before her death.
>expecting actual good cleans from Hox
Shit man, did you not read any of the earlier scans? I don't think there's a single manga I've ever done that a proper cleaner would consider acceptable.
THE MAN HAS ARRIVED.
Honestly, I swear you put more effort into Punpun than some of the others. That grey streak down the side sometimes kills my autism.
It's cool, man. It's better than having no scans at all, that guy is a fucking prick. Thanks for the translation.
Cheers good sir.
Hey can you explain what Punpun's current state of affairs are?
it beats nothing at all Hox. Some people don't spit at a free gift like they deserve better.
Thank you Hox fuck that faggot complaining.
Uhh, no, the other anon is right. In fact, Punpun says he's sorry for lying on this page, because while he promised he would "never forget her," he's ashamed that it's only been a year and he's already starting to forget her. It's only going to get worse as the years go by, and he can hardly distinguish the real Aiko from the Aiko in his glorified memories.
Hey Hox fix this
Also, what was with Ono-T?
That's the nickname some of his old school friends had for him. I only just realized that I had previously translated it to Ono-D, so I should've been consistent in that regards. Oh well.
Why did aiko die? I want to start reading punpun but I'm scared I can't handle the sadness.
At least give me the page number.
Yeah, I remember it being Ono-D which is why I asked.
Lack of will/ purpose to live I think.
You're a god Hox
Keep up the good work.
In case you're wondering, in Japanese, it's literally Onotty.
Hox, my english is basic, but page 268 has "ustinct". Is that a play on words or an error?
hox, are you gonna translate Asano's new one-shot?
I just saw that as him apologizing for the other times he lied to her, he even says he intends to keep remembering her until he dies, because it's the only duty she left him.
Of course with time he'll forget some stuff but that's not quite what the other guy was saying.
Also, what's up with these pages?
Oh, come on, FUCK, I don't want to keep reading.
It's kids being stupid and not being able to pronounce a word correctly.
>Asano made a point that it was all pissing in the wind with it looping back to the beginning. All this repeats forever. That was the major point I thought.
I took it the opposite way - that it's not a loop. There was no destiny loop involved, and that school stuff is actually just like we thought it was back in volume 1: stuff that happens all the time that only fucks people up if they obsess over it forever.
I don't know what to do or feel anymore.
Go read the first volume again.
Zooming in on Punpun's forehead.
I don't want to be that guy but... You're reading it wrong then.
every other chapter ends with 2 illustrations of punpun chilling, this timw he just made them completely white, just like the cover.
Did Punpun win da Sachi?
Or am I misinterpreting something
No, you got it the other way around. Sachi won da Punpun.
Ah, of course.
Seriously, pan up to sky and you didn't see it coming? Even before that it was obvious, without questionable spoilers.
Punpun tortures Aiko and gets off scott free. I wanted him dead.
Then did he really have to keep that rectangle there? Looks like something is missing, which would be the point, I guess. 2artsy4me
But really, it looks stupid.
That's the thing i like about Punpun and the Inio Asano's works when he doesn't go full sick human relationships
Thanks for the great work
Still a better mc then that twat from Kimi no iru machi
>Sorry if it's already been asked and answered but why didn't he go to jail?
He did. But since his probation was already over in under a year, I assumed it was for helping Aiko dump the body and run.
>it wouldn't be too surprising if they concluded he killed Aiko too.
No sign of struggle on either body, just older wounds that entirely fit with the story of them killing Aiko's mom in self defense.
Extremely similar interpretations, although different mindset I think. I would scale it more to futility and that it's inevitable for someone to fuck up and obsess over it. The point remains valid, but it's not such an easy lesson to learn.
That's one thing I don't get, why are the police in Punpun suddenly reasonable and realistic? Thought every adult or symbol of authority in this series was supposed to be worst-case-scenario. Remember the old guy experience with the cops?
Because punpun was about to get the worst end possible and her best girl sixth sense activated.
>Thought every adult or symbol of authority in this series was supposed to be worst-case-scenario.
Honestly, I think this is just wrong. In v12 you see how no one thinks Punpun is as much of a piece of shit as he thinks he is himself.
The old guy was just ridiculously unlucky, coupled with the stupid goddamn woman and the black spot.
Because childhood friends can never win. It's a law in Japan. Look it up.
Moral of the story: Don't be a faggot like Pun Pun
There are too many morals in this story.
I just finished it and I don't know what to feel nor how to interpret the ending.
-Don't expect life to be full on dramatic.
-Life is about perspective.
-Never join a cult.
What else guys? C'mon guys, let's fill a list here.
Pun pun lied
That's pretty much it.
No one knows how to feel. To say it was a brilliant ending I feel is pretty wrong. But to say it was a bad ending is also wrong. It just is. It works.
I feel like all my questions were answered.
Don't be like that faggot of Yuichi.
Don't over analyze every step you made in life if then you'll murder someone without a simple alibi.
You reap what you saw
If you abuse the best girl until she commits suicide to escape from you, you'll still end up with the 2nd best girl.
If any of you guys find any more typos, let me know at: hoxtranslations.blogspot.com
>punpun gets over aiko in one chapter
>Because childhood friends can never win. It's a law in Japan. Look it up.
For breaking the law, Hanazawa has been denied the right to ever voice another girl who wins.
>-Life is about perspective.
That one's pretty general. It probably covers a billion of them.
There are people out there who care about you more than you think they do.
>The entire closure revolved about THIS page
The moral of the story is never let your kids go to public school.
I was reading another work by Inio, A Girl by the Sea, and then found that the translation for it was dropped back in 2012. I'm just going to have to read the raws.
Hox are you still there? How was this spread not included in the tankobon, or did you just forget to add it when translating?
Who's the guy at the left of them?
why did the Inio had shift the focus on Harumin? nobody cares about that dude
You know, this scene and image holds a lot more weight now that we know they couldn't actually see the sky.
>they never actually saw the milky way
That realization hit me harder than anything in this volume
You mean the badminton kid? Komatsu, he isn't really all that relevant.
I still wish Punpun had gone to a fucking gym or something and gotten some damn self-respect. His mopey ass got annoying, needs some endorphins.
/fit/ reporting in.
A lot of the colour pages aren't included for the tankoban versions. I went out of my way to get them for the last volume but I didn't bother to do so for this volume. Maybe Asano intends to release another artbook containing all of them someday.
what do you mean
But perhaps they did and it was just the girl hadn't?
So he doesn't appear later at all? I can't remember him
Punpun is starting to forget about Aiko. It wouldn't be strange that he forgets about the Milky Way.
Because he's a reflection of Punpun. Plus, meeting Punpun helps him get some perspective, which is an important part of the manga.
His name's Komatsu. He even shows up in the final volume.
The idea was that the sky was cloudy, no one could see anything, and that they made up their own "sky".
It was to convey the idea that life was what you make it, because no one really knows.
He appears at the reunion this volume.
THANK YOU HOX! You are the best scanslator online, along with thetsuuyaku, who does all of Dowman Sayman's work (Voynich Hotel, etc.).
Who was this guy
+ Aiko's death was handled superbly
+ Beautiful art
+ Simple ending that does what it needed to do and nothing more
+ There's never a "punpun unmasked" type scene
- Pacing's kinda iffy
- Pegasus's subplot went full retard
To show an exterior perspective of punpun's life. The point was that Harumin was living his own life with his own problems, and Punpun was living with his. Despite the fact that they had fallen apart since their childhood and couldnt even remember each other's names, they had both moved on and grown up.
The whole plot of punpun is about the trials and tribulations that come with growing up, and the last chapter summarises them perfectly.
That's a shame. I'll just post 2 color pages that weren't included in your uploads then, in case anyone wants them.
He appears in this volume actually, meeting with Harumi and Seki at the end, but he only really has a meaningful role in the badminton tournament.
It was punpun.
You can't see this much stars in the city, it all was imagination and glorified childhood memories.
Why is Aiko so fucking beautiful?
Oh shit, really?
>it wouldn't be too surprising if they concluded he killed Aiko too.
Their would be bruises an contusions on her neck indicative of hanging, which would go along with his story of her killing herself. He also likely just got an accessory to murder charge and did short time.
>HUFF HUFF HUFF HUFF
FOR FUCKS SAKE HOX THAT IS NOT A HEAVY BREATHING SOUND EFFECT YOU TWAT, STOP USING IT
Pun Pun's future self
I think she represents the past, her beauty is basically a metaphor for nostalgia goggles.
She even says "I'm not the girl you think I am"
Her death can be interpreted as Punpun letting go of the past.
She just is.
>her beauty is basically a metaphor for nostalgia goggles.
That's stupid. She's attractive and that's all, not everything has a meaning.
I do love this page how it looks like she changes when he says that he's a liar
It could be a number of things, but her changing because he's letting go of how he remembers her is what I'm feeling about it
>Not looking for symbolism from MAJOR CHARACTERS during the climax of the story.
You're doing it wrong.
>Punpun looses his left eye
>Pegasus looses his left eye
>Aiko's left eye is bloodshot
>Seki's left eye is beaten to a bloody pulp
>Shimizu's left eye is covered with blood when the building blows up
WHAT DOES IT MEAN ASANO.
Daruma's left eye.
The dark spot
So, Gesumi is best girl, right?
>I have a left eye
>my dog has a left eye
>my neighbor has a left eye
IT'S A CONSPIRACY
The thing that's getting the most complaints that warrants some thinking about is the whole cult subplot.
Surely Asano didn't put it in there for absolutely no reason, something as big as that had to have had an important point.
Was Pegasus Punpun's counterpart, a man with a gift for idealisation and insight even greater than Punpun's, who thus could pursue ideals properly and use them to escape the worldly plane with no regrets?
Maybe that's part of it but there must be more to it than that.
Also does it imply that Punpun eventually confessed his life story and this manga adaption was the one that was made as a result?
ironicly the captcha for this post is Sect lol
Anon, I don't want to scare you, but me and my sister both have a left eye.
>The shooting stars can be seen as granting wishes
>Everything becomes "okay" after it
>"Dark spot" is gone
PEGASUS WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG
Aiko represents the past, Sachi represents the future.
Aiko is unchanging, Punpun's view of her gets more and more idealised as time goes on. On the surface she appears to be the same person she always was but it quickly becomes apparent she's deeply flawed, and also that punpun knew very little about her. Punpuns attempts to run away with aiko are symbolic of his refusal to accept adulthood. He wants to stay with his idealised childhood friend and lover forever, wallowing in his memories and refusing to accept change.
Sachi on the other hand is presented as a flawed person initially. She tries to life-coach punpun out of a selfish sense of self importance and the empowerment she feels from lording over someone else. It is also repeatedly mentioned that her attractive appearance is a facade, and that she has had a large amount of plastic surgery. Despite all this, it eventually comes about that she is better for punpun than aiko. She is accepting of punpun, she doesnt want them to wallow in each others sadness and weaknesses, she wants to help him move on, without expecting the same in return. In this sense she represents the future; an imperfect vision that cannot hope to compete with the idealised people from punpun's past, and yet punpun has to come to terms with this. He has to accept all of her flaws and his feelings of her inferiority to Aiko, because that is growing up. He realises that he wont find immediate satisfaction with Sachi, but isnt afraid to search for a deeper connection.
Did that make any sense?
I doubt it, im not good with words.
>Punpun eventually confessed his life story and this manga adaption was the one that was made as a result?
Sachi is Asano!
After trans surgery!
Not here, anon.
Oh shit THIS RIGHT MOTHERFUCKING HERE
English isn't my first language and I noticed immediately after making that post. S-sorry.
That reminds me.
the guy who came up to punpun and aiko and asked her a whole shit ton of stuff. The fanboy.
So she actually DID do all the modelling and whatnot?
Sachi was a pretty obvious self insert.
well she did appear on a magazine once
She didn't, she only did one photoshoot so he confused her with someone else. But that scene felt very unnecessary.
No shit, after she cut her hair she pretty much became Asano's self portrait
Thanks anon this clears a few things up for me
That makes a lot of sense
>This will never be localized
>10 years in the making
I'm half tempted to buy the manga in japanese just to have it
; __ ; there are no more aiko shirts for sale online.
I think Sachi discovered her own flaw in Punpun: she uses him as a way to have a reason to be stronger, in the same way some single moms that decide to have the baby says "my kid gives me strenght" or "I have to be strong for my baby", it can be read as a good attitude but at the end is biased way -yet very popular- to go through life.
you can buy shirts of afro god from perpexitees
It was alright.
I know, but the aiko shirt had really impressive art. Wish someone would scan it.
God, that happy bird Punpun at the end made me cry so hard. I'm still in denial about Aiko, it physically hurts.
>everything PunPun related has been sold out for years
It gets published in Italy, France, and Germany.
I'm still disappointed there wasn't one single interaction between Aiko and Sachi.
Who would win in a fight?
Isn't this it? But yeah, it's missing part of the drawing.
>Actually pusblished there
>U.S. lacks the balls to do it
What did you listen to while reading the finale?
I need proper music before I get into this.
Silence and the sound of your own thoughts. Do this properly.
Haha, these countries love their somewhat obscure manga.
Germany made a film of Haruka na Machi e, a manga I bet most of you didn't even read.
That was quite something. I don't really know how to feel right now. I feel like the whole cult subplot thing really burdened the manga unnecessarily. Maybe it'd have been better it if were shorter. I really like this story, yet the ending felt somewhat disappointing.
Yea it's that. I kind of wanted the whole thing so I could make a poster or something.
Fucking beautiful, right? What a great series.
You gotta go dry on this one.
German Tokyopop is on a Asano Inio streak right now, publishing all his shit.
I just listened to cicadas singing when they go deep into the countryside. Other than that nothing, I don't think it would fit.
Wrong, it's a french movie.
If there was a punpun manga box set with all the promos I'd buy it so dam fast.
Still, I find the anime and manga communities in European countries interesting.
How did everyone feel at the manga title name drop? The whole thing was quite surreal, but I guess it's nothing to be surprised about considering the 12 volumes before.
Chills all over man
X & Y.
Nijigahara Holograph is just being published right now.
I was hype as fuck.
Glad that it was not "Goodbye, Punpun". It was simply goodbye. Then Sachi calling Punpun.
My own thoughts.
My own quiet sniffling and getting emotional.
oh shit dude
I can't read until the whole volume tho
Someone explain the ending (as in, the last few pages) to me in simple words. I realize the obvious reference to Punpun and Aiko in those final pages, but what is that supposed to mean? That life is a cycle or something? I don't understand. Also who the fuck names their kid "Moe."
There's more than one way to spell "Moe"
It's like that Russian joke, "Life's hard, so what?".
Punpun is zombie walking through his life anticipating the day he'll day and become nothing. He's merely existing because he's "supposed to".
And the entire Punpun cycle continues in another Boy
It is the whole volume you dingus...
Moe is a good name
The whole thing's out.
It doesn't really matter.
Don't type like a retard, trip friend. The whole volume's out.
I feel robbed of some life-changing catharsis. I'm sad that this story ended and I'm sad that I haven't come up to some grand realization regarding my life reading it. I love it but it's also painful to be reminded I've been following it for like 3 years and it ended like that.
its been a rough couple of weeks and this happens. welp its been nice. goodbye, i wont be making it back.
>some grand realization
The whole story was about a sad loner looking for the same thing, what were you expecting?
>I feel robbed of some life-changing catharsis
Sounds like life.
What did you want it to do?
Give you a step by step guide to live life?
Shouldn't that be fiend?
Being merely content is alright.
>I feel robbed of some life-changing catharsis
Perhaps the life-changing catharsis was that not every story has to contain a life-changing catharsis. It could be ultimately pointless and you have to interpret your own conclusions. Just like life.
>Give you a step by step guide to live life?
christianfag pls go
Woulda been nicer without faggots spoiling Aiko's death every other day. Was wondering why I didn't see many spoilers of the last chapters, it was because nothing happened.
I wonder if Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck could read Punpun and also come to the conclusion "yeah that's life"
Punpun fanbase is entering eva levels of pretentious nonsense I see
Any life-changing catharsis happened years ago for me. Punpun already made an impact on my life. We grew further and further apart and I could only grimace my face to watch. I'm happy he's doing just fine today.
This has to be a troll...
It's not, it's a super fucking common topic in literature, fuck all mediums even.
Fucking dumbass. HE IS SEEN AS THE FATHER. It is just a strange sentiment for him to be called father. Saiko loves him. Or she would not have broken down crying. We have known her for 10+ volumes. You should know how she is, she puts up a facade, saying brash words when in reality she is still the fat insecure little girl.
A retrospective of someone trying to break the cycle of life and failing to do so.
>It doesn't really matter.
>Being merely content is alright.
What an utterly boring message. It's basically a platitude. 13 volumes to convey that.Bravo, Asano?
>It's basically a platitude
That's really the point.
Jesus, are you underage by chance?
Sounds like you want some old boolshiet about how being yourself and stand out ish is better
Cept I don't think it works like that outside of made for life time movies
I think you're not seeing the point if you view it as a message.
Like the teacher looking back when he was a kid?
You can read some shonen manga, you know...
I thought he lonly looked big because he's usually next to Aiko and she's pretty small but damn, Punpun is a giant for jap standards, even without the dildo head.
You can leave with him
A lot of people are never happy no matter what you know?
As long you are happy why does it matters if you are not a millionare or whatever?
He didn't say it was a genre, retard.
"Shonen manga" is acceptable. Maybe you should leave before you look like a fucking retard.
That was never implied. What wrong with saying the dude can read some manga aimed at younger males?
Why don't you all whiny retards leave?
I knew they weren't going to have a happy ending but man fuck everything
You can go with them.
And so can you
Hey, why don't YOU leave? Huh, tough guy?
Yeah, saying that you should read only manga for kids is the same as calling shonen a genre.
Can you stop embarrassing yourself, please?
Stars of the Lid
Oneohtrix Point Never
How would you protect Aiko's smile?
You think he had one final fuck with the corpse? She was practically dying when they fucked in the forest
>She was practically dying when they fucked in the forest
I lost my shit here for some reason
Also when she had no Panties and he was carrying her deas
>Oneohtrix Point Never
Fuck /mu/ for recommending that shit
If I wanted a sleeping aid I would have just listened to any of that neo 80's samey sounding shit
You think those panties tasted nasty when she hung herself
What did she have again?
Infection from her stab wounds
And she was so sick even the taxi guy noticed she was pretty fucked up
Did that post hurt you so much that you got even more stupid?
You can say
She was intoxicated by love
Being stabbed and not going to the hospital, I think kidney stabbed?
Say that for yourself.
I felt Punpun got away a bit too easily. He did murder someone (rightfully in self-defense) and he did fuck up the lives of many around him. And then what? He only gets some probation time? Then he makes peace with his mind, ends up raising Sachi's kid and living a somewhat normalish life and being okay with it, or at least convincing himself he is. Aiko is becoming nothing more than a distant memory to him. Whatever happened to the whole "you reap what you sow" thing. It's not like I wished for an incredibly depressing ending, but it felt like somewhat of a cop-out.
Not even close carlos.
>he did fuck up the lives of many around him
>Implying he wasn't set-up by Aiko and everyone around him
>Implying Aiko didn't fuck up everything by stabbing her 10 times, hanging herself and being a dick to punpun, first stabbing him twice, then hanging herself
One of the few manga that can actually reach the bump limit. I'm going to miss following it. It's a little depressing marking it as complete on my list.
He didn't murder anyone. I believe Aiko.
>fuck up the lives of many around him.
just how exactly?
You don't find it depressing that this is it? It's not incredibly depressing, but to make everything seem so flat? It's encouraging to some degree, but it depends on how you already look on things.
So, did punpun get jailed? Did he get a new girl? This whole change in drawing style stuff is confusing
>being a dick to punpun
>by hanging herself
Sure showed him.
You have it backwards. He set his goal by "filling it", i.e. taking out his eye, and every time he looks in the mirror now he is reminded of that moment and goal. His goal is to live his life.
When PunPun is old and grey and finally dies, having lived his life fully, his second eye will go as well. Then he will have fulfilled his goal.
Why did she even hung herself?
She was bound to die anyway
To definitively free Punpun. In every sense.
Punpun was going to take the blame. Also she was not in the right state of mind.
The suffering was too much, might as well end it quick
>Aiko being a dick to Punpun
What. That was never the case.
You can argue that the suicide part was to save him.
okay I just read it.
yeah, that sounds about right
I don't even know why I was expecting a happy end
and also because of the physical pains and repeating shit dreams
How was it not happy?
It was as happy as it's going to get.
One of the best manga I've ever read. I enjoyed every second and it made me hate myself and life in general.
I feel bad for punpun's nephew I hope that the god in the eye was an image of the "dark side" that everyone has ;_;
This was a good ride with you /a/
I'll miss it
I heard he is making a new manga already?
also inb4 inio's next work is about traps
Wait, did they save Punpun's eye or not
>I heard he is making a new manga already?
Inio is too "popular" for /a/ now. Just wait a couple months, pun pun will be the new "overrated" series of the month.
He stabbed himself in the eye, no way they could've done anything.
For a second I thought he was gonna fuck the corpse, but nio's smarter than that It would have probably been too edgy.
heh man I'm glad I didn't browse /a/ that day.
It was a fun live scanlation thread
inio should have new work soon.
hideo yamamoto has a new series too right? Is that scanned at all?
Its was fun oyasumi punpun
i'm curious, /a/:
how many of you would willingly live the life Punpun did in order to live an "interesting" or "noteworthy" life? to live a story as winding and messed up as his, if only to get out the dreariness that is most likely your normal life? from the last volume alone: would you willingly fuck a girl--from behind and later as the night passes lying in a forest with her on top of you--who had just stabbed you? who was dying from infected wounds herself? would you calmly bring her dead body down from a noose and carry her, naked under the dress, talking about your future?
haven't started reading this yet at the time.I was dodging spoilers like mad when I did
Are ya gonna translate his new mango?
Oh, then you were pretty lucky
Let's just take a moment to remember the innocent little guy Punpun started out as.
While I was following Punpun I was sad and the manga was sad.
I'm no longer sad and the ending isn't sad.
I wonder what I would have thought of this volume a couple of months ago if I read it.
I approve, well said
>it was fun goodnight punpun
This is a stupid question. I wouldn't want to live a pre determined life when I had the option to live a life I wanted to in order to make my own story.
Could someone explain the cult of Good Vibrations to me? I feel like I need to re-read a few volumes back, I don't remember what they're trying to do at all.
When Sachi found PunPun it was pretty life-changing for him. I mean, he wanted to die untill that moment but then decided to live.
Also while he doesn't really want to change or take any responsibility, being a pushover he will most likely accept the "father" role and maybe even will become a happier person. I mean, he is a pretty good guy when he doesn't get all negative, just very indecisive, and now he has Sachi for that who accepted him for who he is.
"I'm sorry for being a liar."
No. Why, just why.
tetanus, specifically. All of the symptoms line, all the way up to the end where we see her drooling uncontrollably, incontenence, muscles spasms, etc. Got it from infections of her wounds. The dream sequences she has go out of the way to foreshadow this
Why can't Aiko be happy?
I'm kind of glad it got a half-baked ending, at least in a lot of people's eyes.
Because mental and physical abuse is no joke. Even Punpun almost died to it.
You sir, are a dick.
did Pegasus do the right thing? also, how dare they land on Punpunia without taking its founder with them
Come on now.
He's a surprisingly scary motherfucker frankly.
God is the representation of hope/ideals in Punpun, his perception of the world of something that it is not, more that what it really is. This perception constantly clashes with reality, causing Punpun pain throughout his life.
By cutting out his eye, he is rejecting the false existence he has created in his mind, and learned to accept the reality he previously perceived as mundane. He learns to live because of this.
The cult leader was showing the extreme representation of 'God'; what happens when ideals are followed so powerfully that the people reject reality entirely.
The Daruma is directly equivalent to God in what it represents.
Aiko represented God - the ideals Punpun held that were at a conflict with reality
Sachi represented reality - the less than perfect life that punpun was able to accept after sacrificing his ideals.
>The Daruma is directly equivalent to God in what it represents.
I disagree. It's certainly not direct. It has more allusions to the eye of the daruma than the daruma itself.
Why did I open this? Now I feel like shit.
so, are sachi and punpun in a relationschip now? It seemed a bit ambiguous to me(or was that the intention?).
Pretty good analysis. But what do you mean when you said Aiko represented Punpun's ideals? That idealized version of her shattered a long time ago. He had come to accepted her for who she was, and had that mess with her mother not happened, it's very possible he could have lived a happy life with her.
Akio before that scene and the one in his memories I assume.
that was the intention.
I felt like when they were together it was as if Punpun had built up a whole life around them that revolved around escapism from reality. They may have been happy together, but it would have been akin to the happiness achieved by the cultists.
Were the vibrations actually good?
In the end Good Vibrations saved Pun Pun that day
>Get to the part where Aiko kills herself
>Read on silently as Punpun takes care of her
>Save the large image
>Trying not to cry
>Decide to give it a filename
>Realize what I named it
>Cry a lot
