So /a/, what is the final verdict on Nichijou?
Ids funni :D
Bland unfunny garbage.
Post "Things we think are cool!"
It is an anime
>anime we think belongs in the trash!
Relaxing as fuck. Watching Nichijou is like eating sweetrolls.
I don't think it's funny. I nice to look at though.
What does Mai think is cool?
What? Too many "eeeeeeeeeeh" and explosions for that.
The most relaxing show is Lucky Star.
>there will never be a season 2
Not as funny as daily lives of highschool boys
It has a wacky humor so that you don't know why you're laughing. If understandable if someone doesn't understand the humor.
Raw animation talent used on a simple gag show
Criminally overlooked by japanese otaku
it took a few episodes to get good, but once it got good, it stayed good.
I relate to Sakamoto too much...
better than anything kyoani has made after it, but japanese shit taste prevails
It's cute and has it's funny moments.
But it's not hilariously funny.
/a/nons who hate Nichijou have had their standards too high, expecting constant lols.
>tfw no talking cat
A good comedy which fedora wearers will disregard.
>no robo waifu
Honestly I think it depends on the viewer's sense of humor. I had several moments on my first watch of Nichijou where I had to pause in order to catch my breath. Granted, these were only on some of the better episodes, but the humor was just right for me.
>better than anything kyoani has made after it
Sure hope you aren't implying Nichijou is better than Hyouka.
>have had their standards too high
Oh, oopsies, lemme watch it again and instead lower my standards. I didn't know I was watching it wrong.
epic ownage bro
you sure got me
>people having fun! stop it at once!
Fedora meme belongs in tumblr.
buttblasted kyoanus detected
I have no idea what this is implying. I'll assume it's a joke.
Nano is best Nichijou
It's ok. We have no idea what are you ymplying either by saying:
>Sure hope you aren't implying Nichijou is better than Hyouka
It's like you actually think Hyouka is better or something.
Now now, she is a good Nichijou but the best can be no other than Yukko.
I prefer Yukko
Both are by Kyoani is my point, but you knew that and were merely pretending to be retarded so I'll move on.
Hyouka actually had interesting characters and development. It was a show with actual substance. Nichijou was for spergs with ADHD, a bland unfunny "comedy" (if you could even call it that) with a million "so randum/b/" jokes.
>Finding Nichijou to be unfunny but then comparing Nichijou to a show that's completely unrelated to it
>still using "so randum/b/" jokes as an excuse of not liking a show.
Jeez guy, try harder.
He is the peak of what it means to be a man.
>Finding Nichijou to be unfunny but then comparing Nichijou to a show that's completely unrelated to it
I'll give you a hint: if you click those red numbers in my post it'll show you which post I was replying to. Maybe then you'll understand the context and not make yourself look like a retard.
>still using "so randum/b/" jokes as an excuse of not liking a show.
Not an excuse. "Random humor" is shit. I'm not a retard who's entertained by sitting in a dark room rolling a pair of dice all day. Oh, I rolled a 3, now it's a 6! 3 doesn't come after 6! My sides are now thoroughly tender from the laughter.
It's great. It does a good job of being a zany, lighthearted comedy while endearing you to its characters and their daily lives. It's impossible to feel down after watching an episode.
>That you still probably watched all of
It's impossible to be happy after seeing Yukko suffering.
Anon stop, I love Hyouka and I don't want to have to tolerate stupid people who like Hyouka and make people who like Hyouka look bad.
The avatarfagging hurts.
And yeah, comparing Nichijou to Hyouka is like the most retarded thing you can do. I love each for entirely uncomparable, different reasons.
You can't have joy without suffering.
great manga that will never get published in west outside finland because fuck nice things, and decent anime ruined by the fact kyoani forgot they're not animating k-on and fuck that nano want to go to school anime original OC donut steel arc
someone threw a popcorn at you?
Humor is inherently random and chaotic.
Finland getting Nichijou is the cruelest thing I learned after finding out Nichijou flopped. Is manga big in Finland or something?
Why is the professor such a dick?
Biggest bookstore chain in Finland sells manga. Also the biggest kiosk chain, to a lesser degree. I've only seen them selling shounen though, although that is to Be expected.
because she's a kid
kids tend to be egoistical dicks, but it's usually justified as cute
Nichijou was the most entertaining show I've ever watched. I laughed out loud at every episode. The soundtrack was phenomenal. The animation was A+. It is basically perfect.
>there are still people who think Nichijou isn't SoL
Robots and talking cats don't exist in life, nichibro.
Let's not have this discussion again.
Especially all that stuff about Nano's birthday and her getting accepted into the group.
Your point? SoL doesn't need to be about real life. If needs to focus on the average daily life activities of the characters, which Nichijou does. It's about girls going to highschool and getting bad grades and drawing their own manga. It's about ordering coffee and breaking melon. It's about going to a fair and playing a shooting game or shopping for groceries and having a whiny kid who wants candy with you. It's about average everyday things and the over the top unrealistic aspects are just part of the flavor of the show. It doesn't suddenly make the show not focused on average daily lives because the daily lives have a lot of weird unrealistic shit in them.
Also, robots are real, bro.
But that show wasn't that funny at all... Is that the joke?
I don't get why Nichijou makes people so assmad
It's enjoyable, sometimes forced, but really enjoyable
>Slice of life is a phrase describing the use of mundane realism depicting everyday experiences in art and entertainment.
The New Oxford American Dictionary, First Edition, Elizabeth J. Jewell and Frank R. Abate (editors), 2192 pages, September 2001, Oxford University Press, ISBN 0-19-511227-X.
>In anime and manga, "slice of life" is a genre that often parallels teen melodrama in addition to using slice-of-life narrative techniques. Another common trait in slice-of-life anime and manga is their emphasis on seasonality or procedures.
Robin E. Brenner (2007). Understanding manga and anime. Libraries Unlimited. pp. 112–120.
I still wish she got accepted a bit sooner instead of towards the end.
I like the segments where she is with the other 3 girls.
It's how people who *really* love it express their anger towards the fact that it didn't sell better.
So you really only have those people who like/love it and say so, and those who *really* love it but are angry and tsundere towards it.
either you love it or hate it
for example, sister broke the relationship with her boyfriend over nichijou. i'm dead serious, though it could be just that last straw.
just to clarify, it was my sister who hated it
The narrative techniques referred to are in fact the literary definition of the term, which you have omitted, rather than the original theatrical definition, which would omit almost all shows considered SoL on grounds of not being 100% grounded in realism.
>The literary term refers to a storytelling technique that presents a seemingly arbitrary sample of a character's life, which often lacks a coherent plot, conflict, or ending. The story may have little plot progress and little character development, and often has no exposition, conflict, or dénouement, with an open ending.
All I wanted was for them to be together
>sister broke the relationship with her boyfriend over nichijou
Oh I see now
It is meant to be, even though we didn't get to see it, I am confident it will happen.
Everyday I ask myself, "Why didn't those fucking Japs like Nichijou as much as I did?"
and then you soon realize that during its airtime they were all underwater because tsunami
>only 7 flying sweatdrops
Guys guys, I think I am catching on.
All this love for Nichijou... It's all a ruse right?
Nobody could claim that such an average show is perfect.
Are you going to tell me YKK isn't SoL now because there are no such things as androids? Stop looking at things in black and white. The reason so many people have a bad opinion of Nichijou on this board is because they're idiots who look at it and judge it as nothing more than a comedy. They completely miss the point of the story being about friends interacting with each others.
The publishing label (Punainen Jättiläinen) just had a pretty good taste with their series. They also did Yotsuba, K-On! , Azumanga Daioh, Planetes, Black Lagoon and our national favorite, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin / Weed. The other major label (Sangatsu Manga) does mostly popular shounen/shoujo and random shit no one has ever heard about, Gon being one of the exceptions. Both labels belong now to the same publisher.
It was ok.
wow, this is great
I fucking LOVE Nichijou, holy shit
Are there translations of the character singles?
are the translations of the radio broadcast
Iyashikei is the correct term for what people usually call SoL.
But also see >>101099792, the second thing I quoted was actually meant to say that in anime/manga circles the meaning has partly shifted and became more vague or broad. I guess it comes down to how much of a linguistic prescriptivist you are.
There are a few on the fan wiki
Are there raws for volume 9
needs a season 2
i really enjoyed it
Masterpiece for what it is.
People who don't like it are either liars or don't have a sense of humor. I say that overall because Nichijou has all forms of humor from crude, to dry, to real experimental, silly shit.
Not liking humor-based shows is fine, but if one likes any other humor-based, sketch anime Cromartie, Azumanga, Nichibros, and Pani Poni for starters than they're liars if they don't like Nichijou.
Dude, some people just have shit taste, they can't help it. Subtle doesn't work for everyone.
Season 2 never due to poor sales for a KyoAni show.
Not all of it is subtle. It's truly a show that has every realm of humor.
I'm pretty sure most of the people who don't like it don't get it because they're fucking newfags who haven't seen much anime. And therefore miss a lot of references / cultural humor.
I love it. It only took them three times to get SoL comedies right. Too bad it sold like fucking garbage. Not UGUU~ enough and being a 2cour gag-focused series that still has the gall to have 2 episodes per volume is essentially commercial suicide. Too bad KyoAni couldn't use their hyper-aggressive viraling to make it popular like they did with Haruhi or K-On!.
Localized BDs fucking never
No, I'm serious.
Localized anything fucking never.
I want to cry.
suddenly a lot sadder now
They aren't cute anymore.
They're hot now.
>shitty jokes no one gets and the most pitiful character
>also is as dumb as a brick
She's my undisputed waifu.
Superball ja nai
Oh my.... my body is twitch cause it wants to laugh but... oh man.
7/10 it was good
Would be 8/10 is was great if:
-Yukko was removed
-Mio was removed
-Mai was removed
80% of the laughs I had was from side character scenes
nigguh you dont wear fedoras, you wear snapbacks, like me
What emotion does this face convey
Yuuko is best friend
How the heck do those pants work?
You'll only like it if you enjoy slapstick humor. Stellar animation quality. Yuuko best girl with most suffering. Unfortunately overshadowed by the superior Nichibros in its season. That's all.
Ha ha, holy shit. It's like she just put them on her buttcheeks and didn't bother to put her legs through! I'm gonna start doing that!
Mai is a turboslut. I didn't even know
I watch it for the plot.
<spoiler> I enjoyed it </spoiler>
Nichijou is the Peanuts of Japanese animation
that's really all there is to it
It's more like a moe version of Ed Edd n Eddy
if anyone has shimapan it's Nano
She's not wearing pants.
god is dead.
-----friedrich Nietzche after finding out there are idiots out there who dont like nichijou
One of the best shows of the last 5 years
eouc post broo
Amazing. I've never felt so much honesty in another anime. It's like childhood.
Maybe I'm just glorifying it in my head. I need to watch it again.
Why do people make so many of these kinds of threads:
>What does /a/ think about
>What do we think about
>Can we all agree on
>What's our final verdict on
Why do people think /a/ has any consensus about any series? And since these are just troll threads, why do they always get posted in?
It just starts turning into a thread for the show anyways
maybe I'm just glorifying it too, but the characters all felt some special kind of genuine. Yuuko especially just seemed so nice in a "real" way.
Yep exactly. And the little mini scenes between bigger ones. The artstyle, the music.
Everything created this atmosphere of calm and complete content. It's weird.
It felt to me like not only did the author love writing it, but the animators loved animating it. I find it hard to believe you can get THAT level of animation by just dumping money on something. I mean I'm sure plenty of things have had more money put on them and didn't come out as good as nichijou.
Either that or some fag like >>101113862 making a general by stealth.
I haven't read much of the manga but it feels similar to the show. Wish I had a physical copy though. A lot of love went into Nichijou for sure.
To be honest I'm sorta scared of rewatching it. Maybe it won't feel the same.
So then you havent seen this
the main reason it will never feel quite the same for me is I watched it in the spring. aside from reminding me of that time of year it has all of the same charm and at times feels better on rewatch as I feel like I know the characters better.
Oh I did. Not sure how to feel about it. I love Hakase how she was but one should be flexible about these things. I don't know.
I was pretty sad when I was watching Nichijou, I'm not anymore, so I don't know how that will affect it. Maybe I shouldn't think about it.
Is this for real? why isn't there any porn
It's real and there is...kinda
Also dumping the chapter
Yeah, it clicked for me around 4-5.
I honestly think it's hilariously funny.
Takes a few episodes to click but when it does it stays good.
Am rewatching with roommate right now and had to ask him to follow 4 episode rule because first couple just didn't do it but after that he's loving it.
How old is she? And is that Nano? And shouldn't Sakamoto be dead? And does she attend the same school as Mio and the crew?
16? No that's Nakamura. Maybe and Yes
So, what are the detials?
I just found that someone deleted the first half of nichijou from my computer. I don't really have the bandwidth to redownload that shit for the 3rd time. At least I can console myself knowing that Yuuko is best girl
What's the name of this sketch?
It looks to be from the OVA
YOUR MOUTH TAKES UP HALF YOUR FACE
WHY YOU THROWN DAT POPCORN
YOU THINK POPCORN DONE GROW ON TREES?
SOMEBODY GON EAT DIS POPCORN
Always best girl.
>And shouldn't Sakamoto be dead?
No, he's really young when the series starts. Like a year and a half old.
If you just wanna chill out and watch something cute, nichijou is great.
Nah, it was when Yuuko was procrastinating for something? I remember only that. I haven't seen the OVA so it isn't from there.
Meant for >>101117223
Oh shit I have some leftover linoleum, I'm making that.
I want those stickers
>The Dark Tower gets anime adaption.gif
There's something brilliant about this scene. Something I can't put into words. Just so relaxing.
very relaxing, IMO good humor, because is exaggerated but no on extremes, character that you can like, being simple without flandarezid tracks, very good anime, when i rememeber about I feel like i am remembering something of my childhood, that realaxing and good was for me
If I want a laugh I can enjoy it.
best scene of nichijou?
A lot of them. There we some amazing ones in the last episodes.
Hakase spinning, the one where Yukko runs and instead of fucking up everything as usual she fixes and helps everyone she runs into, the friend note.
A lot of them really.
Where did you get that quality zing from? Reddit?
fuck off newfag
but what is the one that takes the cake
maybe one for humor and another for heart-warming
Well Hakase spinning is the best little snippet of carefree and warmness.
Yukko running and fixing everything and the Friend Note for Mio are really powerful scenes.
As for humor I don't know really.
humor is the battlefield if you are looking for best scene
>the friend note
fucking 10 out of 10 my heart melted
Shit, that's cute. Saved with the force of a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A.
Does anime which is "hillariously funny" truly exist? Nichijou came close, although all SoL generally does for me is let out a chuckle if, and only if, I can relate to character-based comedy on an emotional level. The only other forms of comedy I've come across in amine are in major mainstream works like Fullmetal Alchemist which just made me drop them faster. Does legitimately funny anime exist?
>That scene where Yukko is waiting for her food
>that moment when the server gives her the food
That stuck with me, and it's hard to even explain why.
This is too cute.
but the real question is
solo or ... DOPPIO
Goodness, these were cute.
so what kind of trick was it
You don't like kumapan?
apathy beyond belief. When you are desperate for a fuck to give, but you suspect the fuckless hobo would use it on women's rights or something equally as self destructive and pointless. so you don't give a fuck, and you don't even want to.
Isn't it though?
I have best friends who fit every role shown in this scene. Hell, I did this to someone today.
I can't breathe. Also, because it's too cute to not post, gif version GO.
>You're already hearing the music
>JouuJouu Youujou banji maji kaichou
Anons! I just had an epiphany. I might know why Nichijou bombed (sales-wise) to oblivion.
This might be incredibly retarded, but could it be possible that one of (if not the) major factors in Nichijou's failure to sell is Madoka?
This isn't as awful as I was expecting.
You and I both, /a/non.
Non Non Biyori would like to have a word with you.
I really do love scenes like this. I don't fucking know why either.
>that yuuko belly
I smiled. Some of us have cutsier voices than others.
Yuuko and Mai fighting over lunch. Easily.
The accuracy of that image is astounding. It's a smile in the thumbnail, because the beginning parts are kinda cute, but you mouse over, and immediately start sweating because it's falling apart.
When Yuuko was dropping massive amounts of spaghetti in the train.
Every time I see this image. Pic related.
Yukko is cute.
and there's your final verdict OP
I was putting watching these off because for some reason I thought I would be dissapointed.
What the actual fuck was I thinking that something Nichijou related would be dissapointing seriously
I really rather you didn't.
Holy fuck they're holding Mia's arms up I just noticed that
Why does this exist, and why didn't I know about it sooner? I'm in actual tears.
Better than I expected by far.
Fucking laugh like a retard at this every time
