Yeah, it's really odd.
Their voice acting is really good(even though some anons claim its because we don't understand japanese thus don't notice that its just as bad) but when it comes to acting it goes downhill, even how they talk in liveaction is not even close to how good it sounds in anime.

The problem is that actors in live action are chosen on the basis of their looks rather whether they can act or not. I know this is not really representative, but judging form a handful modern films I saw, the gap in acting quality between young actors and pop and granny actors is enormous.
