Just finished this. What do you think of Maria Holic?
And why is Mariya the best girl?
Also it was alright.
Matsurika is the best
KIME NI MUNE-KYUN (KYUN~)
I thought it was pretty funny, but there wasn't much character development.
I think I've seen a few MH threads recently, which is very strange
I wonder why people are watching it all of a sudden
Also too much focus on Kanako, lack of focus and appearance of Mariya and Matsurika.
>MC goes to an all girls private catholic school
>MC is a lesbian
>Roommate is a lesbian
>Kissu with another girl first episode
>Turns our kissu was with a cross dressing man
SHAFT literally destroyed what could have been a perfectly good show.
Mariya isn't even likeable.
The first season was funny, but the second season just felt a bit lacking.
this was awesome
>it's been 6 years since Maria Holic came out
Holy. Fucking. Shit. What is happening.
I can still remember being on yuri/traps streak.
>What do you think of Maria Holic?
Litterally the worst SHAFT anime ever made. When shinbo dies, he`ll get in hell and will ask Devils what he did to deserve it. They`ll show him Maria Holic Alive and he`ll pitifully accept his doom saying "ok..."
SHAFT did way better with MH than the manga ever did.
Post gatari/madoka new-shaft fags watching other SHAFT shows.
I like slapstick and random comedy, but I thought this was fucking shit. It was mostly just whats her face having nose bleeds every 5 minutes every fucking episode.
I remember watching it with /a/
The OP and all those gifs people made were pretty great
It was shit. Among the worst anime ever made. Ignore the newfags that werent here when it aired.
Next we`ll have thread praising Denpa Onna and Vampire Bund and asking what "/a/" though about it too.
Maria Holic Alive was like a swansong to the old days of SHAFT, before Bakemoneygatari and Madocash changed them.
Yeah everyone sort of stopped watching after a few episodes. I remember the subbing being terrible too.
It was not very interesting.
All those fucking threads hyping it to be the best work ever, then all the despair threads once the first episode aired and it was actually really boring.
They don't really get any money from those, though. They're still poor as shit and working out of a cardboard box of an office.
Probably more like Nisekoifags looking for other Shaft SoL after realizing that Nisekoi is shit
Oh please, dont spew shit like that. Old SHAFT shows were actually good. Puny Poni Dash, Moonphase, Hidamari, SZS. Maria Holic was by all means abomination.
They also slaugthered Natsu no Arashi adaptation at same year, but least it looked ok visually.
Don't forget they also butchered Negima, meaning we now have two shitty attempts at adapting it.
Maria Holic is overrated (as overrated may be complete shit that few select fags pretend to claim is not complete shit but just slightly shitty).
Whats underrate by SHAFT is Sasami. Most people dropped it before actual story started and had completely fasle impression of the show from synopsis and first episodes. Sure, it was not as good as Kyouran Kazzoku Nikki, but it was still decent thanks to LN it is adapted from. I woundnt mind second season (it has Cthulhu), but thats never gonna happen.
Xebec adaptation was ok. It is shaft that fucked up. And then whole manga went to shounen shit.
To be honest I watched it first before reading the manga, it was enjoyable as a SoL but it wasn't Negima. Then they went original material in a hilarious manner.
A lot of /a/ liked the shounen shit, we used to have threads everyday during the Colosseum arc. Personally I enjoyed the school setting and wouldn't have minded if it continued, but instead we're getting another shounen shit manga.
This would have been so much better if it was a high budget ero anime.
>There are people that unironically dislike Maria Holic
Please fuck off.
I personally disliked Negima going full DBZ.
However the opposite happened with Hayate. Instead of adapting only actual relevant story ark, which is also the most popular - Athena, they skipped completely over it and did two original horrible quality Manglobe seasons.
Its ok to like the taste of shit, just dont try to apply your tastes to others. M
>Kyouran Kazzoku Nikki
No one is going to know what that is these days, despite being proclaimed as the best anime on /a/ for a a year or two.
Hayate is pretty much dead after the Athena arc, they started introducing even more characters which were useless, lost the rich setting which was what made it interesting in the first place and it's stuck on Namek now. I felt Cuties was alright though, mostly just fan service episodes for all the characters, didn't bother watching the other one.
When did we start hating Denpa Onna
It actually just left doujin Namek.
>Kyouran Kazzoku Nikki
My god, I just googled it, I remember when it was all over the board
I haven't seen /a/ so much as mention it in fucking years
There is no expicite hate, it was just meh. SHAFT fanboy hyped it as Bakemonogatari 2nd before it aired, then stayed in denial for few episodes, then barely anyone on /a/ watched it till the end.
It was ok animated and had good moments, but by no means show SHAFT could be proud about, though it had potential (mostly in 2nd season)
Gorespammer was most active at that time too
Not every studio is a partial-backer of the shows they make, but SHAFT were producers for both of them, so yes they do get money from them.
Shit, it's one of my favourite comedies! I mention it as often as I can...
Did it? I'm on chapter 410 or something and gave up to go other stuff, the doujin contest was annoying me because it was so fucking dull and mostly taking away from what should've been a great setting (having almost all the girls in one location with Hayate).
People on /a/ praise Denpa Onna all the time.
And they should, it was a great show, you faggot.
I think Denpa Onna really suffered from the last episode not getting broadcasted. The last TV episode was a really poor end, while the "BD bonus" was great...
Next time you say people praise Soredomo all the time. All three fags that watched it.
I haven't forgiven SHAFT for that abomination that was episode 9 or whatever of Bakemonogatari season 1.
I actually saved one episode from Cuties I am a complete Hamster fan, so it definitely was better than the other TV season. Or even, seasons.
The show would be better if it was about Mariya and Matsurika.
Best potential sex.
There are two more guys?
Soredomo was watched by a fair amount of people based on the number of people who posted when one of the voice actors announced she was going to retire from being a voice actor.
Next time you want to pretend you know what you're talking about, please try to at least spell the name of the show correctly.
The only good thing in Cuties were new characters: Armaggeddon, Fumi and Sharna.
Fumi also the most beitiful girl in the manga, however you cant see it ever except for exact two shots, since she always drawn chibi with (°Д°) face
i remember getting the impression that the manga author really hates lesbians
S2 wasn't that bad
Fumi and Sharna are shit characters in the manga, they actually give nothing to the plot because all they do is have random conversations that are unrelated.
Fumi was saved in the anime only because she was voiced by Kana Asumi.
Blind SHAFT fans are like Japanese. Still in denial of horrible atrocities they commited.
It was really just more of the same.
It's as if it was a two cour show in the first place and they just put all the padding episodes in season twoh god that sounds really bad now that I've said it
oy vey keep your counter /pol/ out of here
The only plot development we got in last 200 or so chapters is that Evil Santa from begining is actually Nagi`s grandfather.
>forgetting Kyouran Kazoku Nikki
Add me as well.
The shitty doujin plot that they've been keeping around for fucking ages so they can ignore the actual plot.
The only good thing in Cuties is that they were adapting good moments from the manga in almost 1:1 manner.
That doesn't mean it was a good season.
Still, I loved Hamster's episode.
I should catch up with the manga one day... or maybe I shouldn't, he is still getting nowhere, eh.
>Most people dropped it before actual story started
That's a fault of the show.
I'm tempted to compile all the plot-related chapters of Hayate one of these days. That way any poor fuck in the near future won't need to trudge through fucking Namek. Maybe even add some of the actually entertaining SoL chapters that pop up once in a while in between.
The first time I started reading the manga, I actually did so with only the plot-related chapters, the flashback + Greece. Then I continued reading, then I went back and read everything from the start, not minding even Hinagiku anymore. Then after an year of nothing happening in the new chapters, I gradually forgot to check for updates...
Hayate is comedy first and foremost, and most of "namek" chapters are still fun. Its pointless skipping all of them searching for nonexistant "plot" (its there, but seems author himself does not have clear picture, he just restarts over and over forgetting past developments and characters).
Its like Detective Conan - its not bad despite most of episode being "filler". DC still AOTS every S. You simply will not get all the bits of character development and interactions if you just watch all "black company" episodes.
Have you tried marathoning it? I just stopped reading the updates until I was sure it was over. It's somewhat bearable once you don't need to wait once a week for it.
Also, fucking Hayate hi-jack.
While we are on the Hayate hijack, I will take the chance to say something I've always wanted to.
Nagi grew into one really fine lady. I simply loved seeing her character development.
KKN was shaft? Huh. It didn't feel much like a shaft show. I really liked it, although I've certainly mostly forgotten about what happens in it.
No, different studio but what I think >>101083134 was getting at is that they're similar shows as the main character are Gods.
It wasn't Shaft.
If you take your time to notice, Hayate wasn't Shaft either.
No, he is getting at THEY ARE WRITTEN BY THE SAME FUCKING AUTHOR.
On the subject of Hayate, it used to be one of my favorite manga/anime, but it just get so... Nothing, after a while. Like, comedy but not great and plot but largely futile
Ah, guess so.
Now that's just a shame. I haven't read Sasami but the premise alone is a big step down from stuff like kkn and mushi/teddy bear
Akira is a pseudonym then?
I think it was funny, and I'm a yurifag.
You are retarded. Because its exactly same stuff. Gods and mythological weirdos doing godly, weridly and fun stuff along with actual serious plot.
I don't think so... KKN was actually more out there as a premise. Sasami is more concise, and less "played for the laughs" than KKN... which is not a particularly positive change, but I wouldn't say "a step down".
Incest garbage and hikki garbage and otaku humor garbage irs not the same stuff. At all. Fucking imbecile
Being able to not take yourself seriously with a completely whacked out premise is better. Besides that kind of completely out there ssetting is at the very least me unique
Do you even know what a premise is?
You`d realize what idiotic shit you wrote if you`d actually watched the show and knew whats it about.
I don't need to watch it to know the premise for fuck's sake. It's the premise. I'm not making a judgment on the entire show, I even prefaced my opinion with "well, not having resd it and only knowing the premise"
I liked godo.
I have to wonderif you do. Are you confusing it for the summary?
KKN's premise was realized better than Sasami's...
But, as far as premises go, "completely out there" settings are actually easier to write, so I will never say that a more normal one is a step down.
You are objectively wrong. Incest and hikikomori in this work are themes, not premise. And they are not even regarded as particularly important in Sasami.
Please tell me what you think premise of the show is. Something tells me in your mind its not something like
Amaterasu goddess , similarly to myth of her hiding in a cave, wanted to get rid of her power and work so made it so clan of shrine maidens served as wessel for her powers. One of the later generation Vessels runs away from shrine since want normal life, all while havign Amaterasu/Haruhi powers. Other god beings and evil cult and aliens are involved and schemes and outright confrontations on divine scale ensure to prevent power being misused or millenium old god rivalries destroying the world
Maria Holic Alive BD subs when?
When that what is marketed at the forefront, incest and hikki life, that is the detup. That is the premise. That and Gods. Don't try to spot false nonsense and pretend I'm in the wrong for looking at what they're selling
I remember someone saying they may do them after MFW ends.
MFW ended, nothing happened.
Which reminds me that unanimated said Maria Holic is the best show he's ever had the honor to work on. That was an unusual quote. And I was simply goofing around while reading the typesetting guide...
Also, S2 and Cthulhu never.
Backstory, not premise. Premise is the base from which the story works from. It's the springboard. While a backstory can be a premise, what separates it really is which the author chooses to highlight on a cover
You are an idiot.
You are correct but not in a way you think you are. Since the brother is not actually related to Sasami and is a divine being himself with entirely different motives.
However show has episode where Sasami`s undead zombie mother kidnaps her and almost forces her to be fucked by her father while drugged to produce new vessel for the Amaterasu cult.
>The premise of a film or screenplay is the fundamental concept that drives the plot.
For the lack of a better idea I am quoting wikipedia. Quoting wiki is often a bad idea, but at this case it seems it is more or less on the mark.
Thus, your claim that incest and hikkie are the fundamental concepts that drive the plot is objectively wrong.
Its not "back" story, its actual story of the show, you moron. You start knowing litterally nothing about whats happening with having more and more events and details for speculations revealed, until shit gets real with Sasami`s dead mother appearing from underworld to take her back to shrine.
Ian idiot for looking at what they're selling. Right, okay, done here. I got nothing. Keep pretending I'm being completely unreasonable. Don't even care
First episodes are Sasami being Haruhi Suzumiya and abusing her powers unconciously and other gods fixing it.
Then some insight into what/where from her powers are.
Then mother and full scale gods confrontation.
Then evil organization trying to create the ONE monotheist GOD by consuming all other gods.
You could say I'm right, considering gun what I'm Todd that line only appears at a later point and most revolves around getting the mainbcharacter it of her room and into school
Yes, you are. They were selling existing LN adaptation. Its your fault you are ignorant and bought into premise some idiot wrote in chart and though this show will be about Hikkimori incest.
This post is full of horrible typos since I'm using a tablet and it sucks. Hit submit by accident. I apologize that irs basically a fucking mess.
What it is marketed with is rarely what the premise is. Imagine what would happen if you knew the premise of Cabin in the Woods.
This is the plot, not the premise. If you want the premise, you may try to shorten a little what >>101084977 said.
Maria does weird things to me but hes a guy!
Randomremux will never get episode 3 done ;_;
I get it more or less, so don't worry too much.
I think it took less than half a season to get her to school. And the driving force behind that was not the incest/hikkie themes, but the whole Amaterasu business. That's the whole point, incest and hikkie did exist in the work, but only as themes. They were sidelined when plot was happening.
so funny, SG was so epic
funny spoiler too
