So I just finished watching Texhnolyze
after buying it on a whim
I've seen a lot of stuff but that was pretty weird
and pretty dark.
What does /a/ think about it?
Brilliant. Slow to pick up, but really delivers. Pretty strong ending.
The only good thing about it was the soundtrack
Yeah I definitely noticed how it moved very slowly at first. I liked it though.
It was really rough and brutal but in a completely different way then it was at the end.
I was really surprised by the characters even though nothing felt forced. That was nice despite how sad it was
It reminded me of a more political, character driven Blame!
Yeah is was really good.
Anyone recommend anything similar? I watched Ima soko ni iru boku too. They're kinda the same in that it's really sad.
Blame! is pretty similar though much more minimalist.
>Slow to pick up
Huge understatement. I like slow development, but after 5 episodes and 4 lines of dialog, I questioned why I was putting in my time.
Been digging my way through anything remotely cyberpunk/sci-fi-ish ...
Would actually recommend Ergo Proxy if you haven't seen it. Not similar in most respects, but has a god dark vibe running through the storyline.
i felt exactly the same way but wanted to give it a fair shake. once the first story arc is resolved there is a cool down period for about 2 or 3 episodes and then things pick up dramatically and basically don't stop til the very end
According to the creators...
He wanted the story to move so slow at the beginning because he wanted you to feel the pain of a severed limb and take it seriously that it happened.
He didn't want it to seem blase or superficial. I'm pretty sure that's what he was saying anyways
I've got some questions for anyone who watched this
Who were those naked kids floating around in the green water that Shinji kills?
Do they say what happens to Yoko?
What exactly was going on with the bleeding pillar?
What caused all the texhnolyze to stop working?
What were those things supposed to be that followed Kano around?
What was the relationship between Kano and Ran? I know he kept calling her his sister but he was calling what looked like another figure his sister too earlier
I feel like I might have understood those but then again I don't know if I did.
do people here actually like Ergo Proxy? I always assumed it was MAL kiddie shit but i've seen people mention it here a few times
It's pretentious as fuck.
i was thinking of trying it out. the main chick did seem kinda annoying in the trailer though
>muh raison d'etre
It's not that good.
A lot of it is deliberately left open to interpretation so there aren't necessarily answers for everything.
The green water was supposed to be pure raffia, so the people in it were presumable raffia babies.
Pretty sure it was mentioned that the texhnolyze were powered by/tied to the pillar, so when it stopped working all the texhnolyze did too. It's why Ichise needed batteries to go above ground.
Kano and Ran weren't directly related in any way. It was probably because he saw both himself and her as overseers of the what was happening, him as the mastermind and her because she was a seer, or something similar. Most explanations seem to be along those lines.
The other stuff and finer points depend a lot on personal interpretation.
And by the things following Kano did you mean the Shapes? They were basically full body texhnolyzed people.
> What does /a/ think about it?
Autistic tryhard hipster shit.
Hmm, yeah, that all makes sense.
No I got the Shapes, I meant the weird half body things like the weird fat female statue without the head and the twin female one that Ran's head was eventually put on
That's what everyone says about everything nowadays.
try fucking off.
Ironically, that kind of sounds like you.
I've never really wanted to watch it for the same reason either.
Meant to quote >>101078306
the beginning is pretty cool, nice moody sci-fi action, but then it starts a long downfall that culminates in a retarded 2deep4u ending.
autists wouldn't have the psychological insight this series does.
Should I watch this even though I've been spoiled and know that mc dies all alone in some ditch or whatever
There's definitely a lot more to it than that.
if that's all that's been spoiled for you than yes. you kinda figure that's going to happen pretty early.
i knew that was going to happen but was still pretty surpised by the end
Not like I have anything better to do, so I'll start watching it later today.
Oh, those were just dolls/mannequins.
The what and why are ambiguous. The twin headed one at the end might have been because of how he perceived his relationship/intended relationship with Ran, if you think of the second head as a stand-in for his. Two-in-one, a two headed god/watcher, something along those lines.
But like I said, that was some of the really ambiguous stuff. How you want to interpret them is up to you.
Got ya. Yeah those weirded me out a bit. Thanks for clearing a lot of that up for me
One of the few anime I would give a 10/10.
I feel like the characters and the overall writing was pretty good, especially considering that anime is normally really weak in this department.
The anime shows cyberpunk in its most disgusting form.
Also this nigger.
This nigga was fabulous as fuck
Yoshii is moe.
The first episode was weird as fuck, I was confused what was happening.
But its one of the best shows I've seen, All the characters are amazing the story itself is brilliant. I was shocked how good it is. The ending was perfect you couldn't ask for a better one, A solid 9/10.
This guy is one of the best characters ever, I was sad as fuck when he died.
