Misconceptions in this board:

1) Stand Alone Complex/Laini/Monster/Evangelion/Texholyze is a complex, intellectual animation
2) People that like intellectual anime are elitist assholes

It really bugs me that people's kneejerk reaction when being told that they're stupid is "well you're an elitist go watch your art shit films".

Listen, you don't like being asked questions. You watch anime to forget about your life. That's fine. But what's even funnier is that SAC/Lain/Evangelion/Monster is no different than Vandread or Ouran Host Club. Sure, it's a bit more complex, but it's still got that mainstream bow.

Some people are pathetic. Call me elitist, I just can't care. It's sick that people look down on intelligence and complexity (even though most of the shows awarded by /a/ barely represents these). Probably the same assholes that called people "dorks" and "nerds" in high school.

I remember this copy pasta. A nice shitstorm, it brought. Good time.

Ultimately we should be arguing about the altered state of mind instead of "deep characters" "interpretations" and "understanding of symbolism". I feel that this kind of criticism/appreciation is paint-by-numbers.

More than once, too. Inevitably, this thread will be a shitstorm as well.

Intellectual anime
Don't make me laugh

Name one
Fuck yeah imma rage on this copypasta

Eva was deep, Lain was a brainfuck, Monster had a cleverly devised plot, but intelligent? I think OP doesn't know the difference between intelligence en lowbrow culture.

What is Laini? I have not seen this.

>Eva was deep
lol

Actually, I think the main problem here, OP, is that people are impressed by things they don't understand. The word "Deep" which is pretty meaningless, is very easily attributed to these shows, which then breeds all this dipshittery we have. Just the other day there was someone who "Loved" Ghost in the Shell: SAC, yet had no idea it was about unconscious participation. He thought "Complex" meant "Complicated" in this context.

I'm aware this is pasta (For the 4th time?) but I'm assuming you're still the one who originally wrote it.

Fuck you, Eva was deep.

Elfen Lied is a DEEP show, and anyone who watches it will understand the true depths of humanity.

>1) Stand Alone Complex/Laini/Monster/Evangelion/Texholyze is a complex, intellectual animation

It was better with just Lain, tehxnolyze and evangelion.

I`m dying of laughter.

deep or not,eva had a pretty complex plot and there were a lot of things going on under the surface of what seemed to be just a typical giant mecha anime.

also,sagr for shitty pasta.
