What is the Neutral Milk Hotel of anime?
Overrated pretentious shit?
Neon Genesis Evangelion, it has to be a 'classic'. Madoka is only 3 years old.
Boku no pico
>both masterpieces and 2deep4u
>shitty main character
>deity praying "IIIIILOOOVE YOU JESUS CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII"
>The best music band is the one without songs, albums and fans
>This is was /mu/ truly believes.
Perfect 1st reply. +1
What the fuck is Neutral Milk Hotel?
Fairly good and surprising piece of media who's reputation spiraled out of control?
This. Madoka wasn't horrible, but it was (& still is) HORRIBLY overrated.
something you listen to if you arent a pleb music fan
Except NMH is actually good. Not 10/10 good but pretty good.
Madoka is like 6/10. Only because of the visuals.
End of Madoka
So I just looked up one of their songs. And, its really really not that great. /mu/ can go suck a dick.
Newfags will say Madoka. Anyone who has any clue what they're saying will tell you it's Evangelion. Madoka is MBDTF.
>something you listen to if you are a pleb music fan
Puella Magi Evangelion: The Rebuild___ Story
Something from the 90s people won't shut the fuck up about and continues to exist today while not having made actual new content in 15+ years?
if you dont love all 100 of these you are a pleb and your music opinion is irrelevant
It goes like this. After the first listen if you manage to listen to it entirely you'll think it sucks. After that it might not seem that great but not terrible. The it clicks. 10/10 AOTYAY for 2 weeks or so. Then you realize it isn't 10/10 AOTYAY but still good.
6/10 is above average you fucking retard.
I know you're trolling but this is /a/ some people might actually believe p4k has taste.
>not having made actual new content in 15+ years?
>what are Rebuilds?
They are shit, but they are new content sadly
I think Eva would be best suited since both Eva and NMH are garbage.
It offends me that people actually take pitchfork seriously.
So, /mu/ is just a bunch of pretentious 90s kids? Nice.
Those were by far some of the worst vocals I've heard on a notable song. I don't know if the lyrics are supposed to be "inspired" but if they were they might as well have made it a poem. Because the shitty music isn't doing anything for it.
I guess the criteria would be something that was widely recognized as great, and that still is outside 4chan, but which is now cooler to hate here. Something where the actual content was almost entirely swallowed by becoming a joke, regardless of if you had watched it and knew why it was funny, or not.
I'd say the closest thing is EVA, but I don't think there's something that as a whole became a joke by just existing, and that was still actually praised at the same time.
youre not above them.
kill yourself kid.
>mu/ is just a bunch of pretentious...kids
Wait until 4.44
Dark Souls, obviously.
>as a whole became a joke by just existing, and that was still actually praised at the same time.
Boku ni Pico
The fact that Pavement is in the top 10 TWICE makes me want to gouge my fucking ears out.
Well yeah. Madoka is slightly above average.
ITAOTS is great but not 10/10.
I thought so too. Listen to it again after some time.
Nice try, p4k drone
Not seriously considered a classic, especially not outside 4chan.
pavement is arguably the best band of the 90s
their lyrical genius is only inferior to maybe Dylan
Boku no Pico is more like Ken's By Request Only.
If I wanted lyrical genius I'd read poetry, not listen to music.
Is that /mu/'s standard troll recommendation?
Does /mu/ have one of these?
Why is /mu/ always talking about Kanye West?
A lot of people hate him a lot of people love him.
It's only natural.
>the one good in sea of shit and piss
utena by jc staff
Come on guys, it can't be Madoka or EVA, those shows are really popular among normalfags. The Neutral Milk Hotel of anime need to be something bad, unpopular and overrated by the pretentious hipsters of this board, something a normalfag would never like, something only the kind of shitposters who spam the board with buzzwords like casual, getway, entry level, /v/ or pleb would call good.
NMH is actually good though.
It really isn't.
What is the Boris of anime?
I had no idea /a/ had good taste in music
Today was a good day
That doesn't make sense because it actually is good.
Taneyamagahara no Yoru
It's shit and nobody ever heard about it.
Posting superior Boris album.
I agree, I just posted a pic of the most well known one.
>he hasn't heard of Boris
Do you even listen to good music?
Listen to it louder, faggot.
Wow. If you only knew how wrong you are.
>he doesn't like Boris
/mu/ threads on /a/ are the worst kind of cross boarding threads, /fit/ manlets threads come close, but /mu/ wins for being serious over their shit nobody cares about.
You will be happier masturbating over your deconstructed fridge noise here >>>/mu/
its been a while...
WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG YOU WERE THE KING OF CARROT FLOW-WERRSSSSS
/mu/ is the worst fucking board.
I HATE /mu/.
Oh come on, there are at least 4 worse boards
I just listed to this shit
Is it like /mu/'s Boku no Pico something terribly bad they trick newfags into watching? Because I sure feel like I was trolled into listening to shit.
Talking about music on /mu/ is horrifying and terrible.
LoGH easily fits the bill
The shitty voice acting and bad animation keeps out normals, the terrible story and length keeps out most anime fans, and anyone who slogs through it acts if they are devoted in order to justify the time they wasted on that garbage.
most people are too pleb for the genius to reach them
dont feel too bad
Thanks for backing me up. anon.
>doesn't like Boku no Pico or NMH
Shit taste detected
Someone explain to me why this fairly ok music is a big deal?
skip to 08:28
Go back to your shitty rap. Its 2deep4u
It isn't really. It's more of a joke now but people still love it.
Oh fuck off.
I like all kinds of music. And I listen to it to enjoy it, not to analyze it. My elitism is reserved for anime. This music is iffy to my ears, nothing worth writing home about.
I like this, ty
Your elitism is reserved for shit taste, nerd.
So you watch anime to analyze it rather than enjoy it?
Wait, are you trying to imply that the song is in anyway subpar? I could elaborate on why it's 10/10 if you really wanted me to.
>My elitism is reserved for anime.
Do you like brostep or something?
Some of both. I try to take more away from it that I would a video game, for example. But if it wasn't still primarily for enjoyment, I wouldn't be at it.
It means I enjoy things indiscriminately. My library has mostly rock, some pop, and a bit of rap. A bit of indie folk stuff, and many OST's. I just enjoy it.
This is like completely backwards. Music, as a medium, is far more diverse, experimental and less limited than anime. Also, there are a lot more objective things about music (technique, song structure, complexity, chords, etc.) than anime.
>I could elaborate on why it's 10/10 if you really wanted me to.
What would be the point? Music is subjective, it doesn't matter what you have to say, you like it and I think it is shit. Opinions opinions.
>What would be the point?
To wank over the band because I really fucking love their stuff.
Anyone saying an anime is fucking retarded because Neutral Milk Hotel is not a song or album, but a band.
Well, if you want it so bad...
>/a/ thinks /mu/ is elitist.
>they don't know about RYM
>YO HOMIE IMMA WRITE YOU AN ESSAY ON WHY YOUR FAVORITE ALBUM IS SHIT WHILE NOT TRYING TO BEING ABVIOUS HOW I DIDN'T LISTED TO IT.
Seriously that place is the MAL of music and everything they label bad is actually good most of the time.
RYM is shit except for the occasional list on various world music.
And we can't forget the avant-teens.
Sounds like fairly standard mathy-post-rock or something. I don't dislike it, but it doesn't really do much for me.
>>/a/ thinks /mu/ is elitist.
/mu/ is all but elitist, well, if you don't listen to avicii or something.
What is the Yeezy of anime?
That's half a life time for those who liked it.
Sure thing. Genrewise, 3nd plays basically an odd form of post-rock (progressive post-rock would not be wrong, but that's a mouthful) that is unlike the typical 3rd wave stuff that has its focus on being atmospheric.
This song in particular, Monsoon, starts off with a blast where we have some crazy time signature shit going on with brilliant basslines, drum fills and two distinct guitar melodies woven together. The form is pretty much through-composed, so it flies through musical ideas without any real significant repetition which is a nice touch. All in all, the technical level of the players are astounding and on the writing level, the song is pretty fabulous. Tons of syncopation and time signature changes are used as well as dynamic contrast. It's quick, invigorating and pretty brilliant. 10/10.
I'm only aware of one scene in Japan that has bands that sound like this. If I'm completely wrong, please let me know.
What's the Gravity's Rainbow of Anime?
Anime has audio (music, sound effects and voicing), therefore objectively it has more things than music.
You're a retard.
The keyword there was "objective things." The music in anime is mostly just incidental and is often not composed with much effort. The most objective thing about anime is animation.
I only went to /mu/ once, I take this and never went back
>This exact question in reverse on /mu/
Every time (or the eva one)
I don't see anything wrong there. Someone is being a retard and somoene else is calling him out on his retardness.
Or are you talking about the change in style comment? I can't tell if it is right or wrong without context.
Over-rated hipster shit? Probably Eva.
The guy saying he didnt listen to any song yet he is trashing it.
He might be trolling, but the thing is that is not far from reality
