Why did Santana take so long learning modern languages and walking while the other vampires did it immediately?

Why did ACDC and company call Santana when Stroheim named him that? What was his original name?

How come Santana is casually found a few days before the other vampires are set to awaken?

How did ACDC and Wham die from the ripple and or sun when Santana didn't? Why did they keep the stone of Akasha when they found out it wasn't necessary to kill them?

Where did colored ripple go? Why can ripple that's not "Yellow Sunshine Overdrive" or whatever kill the vampires?

I'm halfway through Stardust Crusaders right now, and I'm baffled that Battle Tendency is my favorite part so far yet it's the one with the most inconsistencies and contrivances, the two things that can make me drop a series.

No Jojo fans around? Sasuga daytime /a/.

>santana was retarded
>they never gave a fuck about him and forgot his name, just used what the humans called him
>they wanted him to go first to prepare the way, were only half surprised when he fucked it up
>notice how long it took them both to actually DIE. santana got hit a few times, but kept escaping into darkness, but then took the cowards way out and turned back into stone instead of dying.
>all ripple comes from the sun in the end

Lay off the Type-Moon for a bit.
>>
>>101028616
>just used what the humans called him
But how did they know what the humans called him?

>they wanted him to go first to prepare the way, were only half surprised when he fucked it up
That's the problem, he didn't wake up on schedule, he just happened to get lucky due to Straits going crazy.

>notice how long it took them both to actually DIE. santana got hit a few times, but kept escaping into darkness, but then took the cowards way out and turned back into stone instead of dying.
Sure, but then why did they keep the damn stone?

>all ripple comes from the sun in the end
When did they say this? How does it make sense when it's supposed to be ripples in your body created by breathing a particular rhythm.

There's also
>Cars freezing in the "cold" outer space
but I can live with scientific inaccuracies in fantasy, I guess.

>>101028830
Sorry, it sounded right. I don't even remember what the stone of Akasha is, then.
>>
>>101028941
Aja. The Ripple coming from the sun was explained in Part 1, they kept Santana because Joseph was too inexperienced to outright kill Santana at the time, also
>implying you wouldn't freeze before exploding in space
>>
>>101029034
I mean why did they keep the Red Stone that Cars is looking for. Lisa Lisa says that it's because they'll supposedly be unkillable without it, but they don't actually need it to kill ACDC and Wham, and it's not like the stone is connected to them in any way other than being material for Cars mask.

>implying you wouldn't freeze before exploding in space
Why would you freeze? You'd boil because of the lack of pressure.

And what I remember from Part 1 is that the ripple "waves" simulated the electromagnetic waves from the sun or something. Jonathan still used the Yellow ripple exclusively for killing vampires.

You can't even get cold too fast because there's almost no matter to exchange temperature with, you'd have to wait until you radiate all the heat off.
>>
>>101029314
Sorry, I messed up the paragraphs.
>>
>>101029314
It's the ultimate key to defeating them or some shit. Honestly, it would have been a lot easier to smash it since Kars uses it to escape from the otherwise perfect deathtrap SPW set up.
>>
>>101029411
>It's the ultimate key to defeating them or some shit.
That's what Lisa Lisa says, but it only makes sense if they don't die the same way Santana doesn't die in the sun.
>>
>>101029498
I'd assume that because they were the super powered vampires, the sun wouldn't outright kill them. The Ripple is like concentrated sun punches which is why it fucks up vampires.
>>
>>101029547
So again, why did they keep the stone then? They should have broken it the moment they retrieved it after ACDC's death.

>the sun wouldn't outright kill the
ACDC did die from the sun after surviving a ripple though.
>>
>>101029805
He was a brain at the time, and had gotten a nervous system full of double Ripple, so I accepted it. The Stone was leverage so that Kars and Wamuu would agree to fight them, rather than go on a rampage and start killing people with their vampire army. The point to take away from all this is that Araki has the rather egregious tendency to forget plot points entirely and if he does remember them, he resolves them in a rather unsatisfactory manner. Fucking SBR. I'm still mad as hell.
>>
>>101029937
I haven't gotten to Steel Ball Run yet, but I will ignorantly assume he gets a pass on the sheer length of the thing.

On the other hand, Battle Tendency is only 7 volumes.
>>
>>101030232
He'll forget some in all the parts, some annoying, others ridiculous. Just go with it. You'll go crazy trying to understand half of the shit he does in the later parts. He takes scientific concepts that make sense, and then takes them to the absolute illogical extreme.
>>
>>101030333
I still don't understand why I like this series when I like scientific accuracy, hard science fiction, subtlety and consistency.

Hell, I usually hate monster of the week style shows, and I haven't struggled to continue Stardust Crusaders even with the shit cellphone camera quality scans.

I know why it's likable, I just don't understand why I like it so much when it has so much things I'd usually hate.

>reading Part 7
>oh man Sandman looks cool as fuck
>Oh man is he gonna be the main JoJo?
>Get's pulled into being villain of the week for no discernable reason, even though he was winning the race.
I have never been more mad over such a stupid decision.
>>
>>101030965
>Reading part 7
>He would later die of a cold
Also, that Sandman shit was fucking stupid. Soundman is the dumbest name.
But I can't hate 7. It's my favorite.

I can't say its mine. I can't wait for the re released part 5 because I know I will enjoy it more. For me personally its
4>6>=5>3>7>2>1

>>101031117
I personally like 4 just as much as 7 because of the characters. My list goes something like
4 ≥ 7 > 6 = 2 > 1 = 3 > 5

That's what I get for being such a slowpoke.

> Why did Santana take so long learning modern languages and walking while the other vampires did it immediately?
He was a retarded baby in their group. Wham(the second youngest) is probably a teenager or a young adult by Pillar Men standards.
> Why did ACDC and company call Santana when Stroheim named him that?
Santana was the only Pillar Man humans already had a word for. Since Pillar Men bothered to learn a human language(presumably German and English), they used the word humans use to refer to him.
> How come Santana is casually found a few days before the other vampires are set to awaken?
He isn't. Some time passed between Straits finding Santana in a cave and Wham waking his masters. Also, Wham was probably partially aware of the surroundings and noticed the noice Germans were making.
> How did ACDC and Wham die from the ripple and or sun when Santana didn't?
Joseph's ripple was very weak when he fought Santana. Joseph faced ACDC after a month of harsh training of oil and pillars.
They didn't die from the sun. It merely turns them to stone.
> Why did they keep the stone of Akasha when they found out it wasn't necessary to kill them?
Aja. There was a prophecy that the Pillar Men can't be defeated without the stone or something, so they didn't destroy it. It's stupid, I know.
> Where did colored ripple go? Why can ripple that's not "Yellow Sunshine Overdrive" or whatever kill the vampires?
Jonathan was using "raw" ripple at his full power, while Joseph was more inventive. It's like shooting raw magical energy out of your hands compared to creating complex spells.
>>
>>101032854
>they used the word humans use to refer to him.
How did they find out though? I guess you can they heard some Nazi talking about him, but they could have shown that.

>Wham was probably partially aware of the surroundings and noticed the noice Germans were making.
That's irrelevant though, since they where prophesied to return on that day or something on the Aztec calendar (heh).

And "some time" can't be more than a year, and even then it's a small time compared to the hundreds for years they were asleep, so it's still a pretty random coincidence.

You probably have already started to notice that Araki isn't exactly a very good writer.
>>
>>101034678
Yeah, Battle Tendency especially seems to not have been planned out until about midway through.

It's fine though, and it makes Nisio's humble fanboyism all the more funny.
>>
Just for fun I'll post some other things that bugged me.

How on earth do they go most of the way from Hong Kong to Singapore on fucking lifeboats?

Why do stands randomly add up to tarot cards (and then Egyptian gods) when they're dependent on the individual? Why are cards unrepeatable? Though I guess Part 4 will somewhat solve this issue, or at least hand-wave it.
>>
>>101035045
Read all of JoJo and you'll see the only one that has obviously had proper planning is Steel Ball Run. All the others have had dropped plot points and retcons all over the place.
>>
>>101034234
>How did they find out though?
Couldn't the Pillar Men absorb memories from the people they ate? Or am I remembering wrong?
>>
>>101037829
I don't think they could, but I'm not quite sure.
>>
>>101035622
Even better one for early Part 3:
How was Star Platinum getting all that stuff into Jotaro's cell if its range is only 2m?
>>
>>101038343
It's not locked in at 2m, it just becomes shit at punching beyond that range.

I believe that's how power stands work anyway.
>>
>>101038343
Yeah, I started thinking this when I got to the D'arby gambling part a few minutes ago, since Jotaro keeps getting stuff just like on his cell.

>>101038483
It's been pretty inconsistent so far about that.
>>
>>101035045
> It's fine though, and it makes Nisio's humble fanboyism all the more funny.
How exactly is it expressed? I hear this a lot, but I've only seen Bake and Katanagatari, so I'd like to know more.
>>
>>101039675
It's not shown on his works a lot aside from the fact that he believes just as much as Araki that is dialogue more important than action.

It mostly comes from a conversation they had once, where Nisio is delighted that Araki reads his "ragged books". I'd post it but I don't have it on me.
>>
>>101040417
>is dialogue
dialogue is

Read it you donut. A lot of people seem to have lots of trouble with this for some reason.
>>
>>101041238
1. Start reading.
2. Keep reading.

It's only hard if you're one of those people that can't stand old mango and animu.
>>
>>101041238
If you're asking about reading order, the parts will be numbered in any decent place you can find.

Just in case you can't figure it out it goes Phantom Blood > Battle Tendency > Stardust Crusaders > Diamond is not Break > Vento Aureo > Stone Ocean > Steel Ball Run > Jojolion

This made my day.

Also from Stardust Crusaders:
How did anyone other than Kakyouin know that the Death card stand had been defeated?

In the same vein, why does Joseph expect "2 or 3" stand users left when he doesn't know Petshop, Oingo and Boingo have been defeated? He should be expecting 4 stand users to be left guarding Dio.

Also, a little more on the literary side, how come Joseph is nothing like he was in Part 2? Araki almost goes out of his way to portray him as less quick-witted than everyone else.
>>
>>101042917
Yes, 2012 adaption is easily the best anime of Jojo. It covers Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency. Both OVA's are about Stardust Crusaders and neither of them are very good, they have some nice animation but lack the style and spirit of the 2012 show. Besides Stardust Crusaders is being adapted by the same guys that did the 2012 show and it's starting this spring, you're better of just waiting for that if you ask me.
>>
>>101042917
>just quality of the content.
Okay then. I'll fix the instructions.
1. Start reading.
2. Keep reading if you like what you're reading.

>Is 2012 the best series?
Yes. It's parts 1 and 2 in anime form. I guess you can watch it instead of reading them if you're lazy. You're missing out on an almost historical manga though.
>>
>>101043211
I was planning on doing both.
>>
Anyone here know how much knowledge of the series is needed to play ASB?

I impulse-bought it in Japan this year, but haven't touched it since I've only watched the anime so far.
