FLCL.

After watching the last episode 2 times, reading some analysis of it online, my brain is still having trouble comprehending what the FUCK just happened.

Haruko is fucking hot though. That's all I need to know.

I figured as much, but the entire Atomsk thing confused the shit out of me.

Haruko belongs to a galaxy detective squad or some shit, and she is in love with a giant bird known as Atomsk which can pull the most shit out of nowhere in the entire galaxy because of it's N.O. power being over 9000. For this reason the giant bird is known as the king of pirates or some shit.

Then there's another group who are the "bad guys", can't remember name right now, who want to flatten all the worlds for some odd reason.

Atomsk was contained within Canti, and Haruko wanted to get him out, but it would have destroyed the world in the process or something?

What the fuck was the giant hand trying to do?

Why did Naota end up fighting Haruko?
>>
Coming of age, puberty, penises, whore wants space pirate bird, >>10102572, etc. That's all it is.

Don't try to look too DEEP into it.
>>
What is it that you don't understand? It's rather simple.
>>
>>10102615
It's like a story within a story. Haruko, space pirates, and the organizations are not the main focus. Don't worry about them.

Try to get the translated comment by the direction which you can find in an american DVD version.

Mamimi Samejima is the main character of FLCL. Her headhaches start all the commotion ensuing in the story.
The anime ends when she leaves the town, finding her true vocation (photography). In the meantime, Naota is still a loser at the end whose only reason to not kill himself is to have met Haruko.

The story is simple, just a coming of age/puberty story, but everything is hidden behind wtf. Just think a little about every scene. Some things will be more clear every time you rewatch it (for example, think of what the shampoo hat used twice in ep 4 could symbolize)

Also, penises.

Mamimi is my favorite anime character ever along with Nia.

Haruko keeps on messing around with Naota's head in hopes for Atomsk to pop out of his N.O channel so she can consume him. She's not in love with Atomsk, that was just Amarao's theory.

sometimes a shampoo hat is just a shampoo hat.

I meant director, not direction.
Does everyone of you still think that FLCL is just a show about adolescence and puberty ? That sounds more like GL to me. It's also about the "americanization" of Japan and how it's a good thing that Japan lost the war. Baseball, atomic bomb, rock&roll...CRYSTAL CLEAR REFERENCES. And of course, there is nothing to explain about the whole idea of a MECHA coming out of the brain of a japanese teenager (that's why I'm going to explain it). It's like how japanese imagination was stimulated and exploded in all these stuff we nowadays worship as anime/manga, and this all thanks to AMERICA (or westerns, if you don't want to make a CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENT).
>>
Main plot:

Haruko wants Atomsk for some reason, and she can get him through Naota.

everyone knows the story was all about naota

Medical Mechanica are the badguys, they want to flatten the world and make everyone into mindless robots.
Haruko belongs to a galactic police, but not really, she just wants Atomsk's power for her own.
Atomsk is the Pirate King because he's the most powerful creature in za warudo. He was, however, captured by Medical Mechanica. Haruko figures out she can open portals in people's heads and is on the look for someone with enough power to open a portal so she can get Atomsk. This is Naota.
>>
he didn't say he didn't understand the DEEP THEMES of FLCL, he just said he didn't get the story. i'm not sure how that's possible if you listened at all though.
>>
Ever notice how a lot of Gainax villains seem to be against individuality in one way or the other? There's the instrumentality plot in Eva, Medical Mechanica planning to "iron out the wrinkles" and then the hivemind Anti-Spiral race that hates evolution and self-improvement
>>
>>10103020
THIS is also what FLCL is about.
According to some interpretations, the giant iron represents imperial japan, and the events at the end representing the nuking of japan and the restructuring of society. Plus, ep5's got NAZIS.

There are two types of N.O in the series - the first type can import matter via the user's brain, and the second type does the reverse and instead consumes everything.
Naota had the latter type in the end but as for why, I can't really figure out.
>>
>>10103020
I see, I never thought about this. Perhaps because I'm not Japanese.
>>
Lolling at the FLCL/WW2 parallels. Seriously, there's over analyzing a Gainax show and then there's being completely.

It's just a coming of age story, nothing more.

Even Japs don't understand the show too well at all.

I don't think you should look too deep into the numerous metaphors in FLCL - if you've seen other works done by Tsurumaki (Diebuster anyone?), you know this is his direction style. He likes to do vague stories with strong focus on atmosphere and meaningless small details.
>>
>>10103228
>>According to some interpretations

And the director own interpretation in an audio comment on one of the american DVD edition.
But I guess the DEEPtrollfags and such of /a/ could never check that because they never buy DVDs.

jesus fuck, you didn't even watch this show.

i bet they threw in all kinds of little things that were open to interpretation to fool you faggots into thinking it's DEEPER than it really is. it's an amazing show, but you fuckers read way too much into things. you should become an english major.

Wait, if Haruko is the police and Medical Mechanica are the bad guys, where does the eyebrows guy fit in?
>>
>>10103294
I wouldn't really say that there's 2 types...N.O. is simply when a channel is opened using the brain and stuff has can sent through it. Whether it sucks stuff from the side of the user or from the other side (in most cases medical mechanica) it's just pulling crap through

Not quite.
Imaishi was the animation director for ep 5, so that scene likely has his influence.
The first spark for the creation of GL started from the time they were doing Abenobashi, namely the mecha episode.
