Is this the only time western media has been referenced in Japanese animation?
Kenny was referenced numerous times in Carnival Phantasm, and god knows where else.
Go watch the Daikon III and IV.
that's more of a Type-Moon / Fate-series inside joke. Lancers always die.
Is this the only anime you've ever seen?
Remember, that was the SECOND time FLCL had a bit where everything was animated and written as a South Park pastiche.
this is bait
Yes, that was the only time in the 50 years of mainstream Japanese animation that the West was every culturally acknowledged
The phrasing of "Lancer has died!/You're not human!" is directly taken from Japanese dub of South Park. The Japanese scriptwriters even admitted it in interviews.
Why did you make the same thread in /a/ and /co/?
babies first time watching anime.
western media is references all the time. what the fuck? you realize American films do as well as Japanese films at the box office right?
>Is this the only time western media has been referenced in Japanese animation?
What is Big O?
Shit about vegetables
That is fucking awesome
Roger Smith from Big O is Bruce Wayne that pilots a giant robot instead of becoming Batman. Also Big o look was heavily inspired by the Batman animated series.
There's tons of western references... hell, the japs puke english words into their every day language.
The only decent live action media comes out of America. Other countries have their good movies from time to time, but the industry is really centered in America. That's why the entire world is so damn influenced by them. I've got German roommate that came to America for the first time, he knew about 70% of the shit on American television.
I see Mr Garrison
The entirety of PSG is one collective western media reference. Down to the title of the episodes.
>goofy in TTGL
Is Red Garden the only anime with a Seinfeld reference?
That was Squidward you dumb nigger.
No, it's not. A lot of comedy anime have western references.
this, a lot of countries just sub/dub american shows. Especially poorer countries who have no tv industry what so ever. In Costa Rica if you weren't watching news or soccer you were probably watching a dubbed American sitcom or something
also I'll throw one in, Baccano's OP is an homage to some british crime heist movie that I can't remember the name of right now
Seinfeld isn't allowed in Japan, because the Jew fears the samurai.
anne of green gables is one of the most beloved anime in the country
That's pretty sweet.
Snoopy in SZS
why do japs even know about south park?
it's it's about is pop culture, and ours is different from theirs so they wouldn't get it anyway
FLCL was made in early 2000s. Back then Southpark wasn't just about pop culture.
It slowly turned into the entire writing of every episode being based off one joke in pop culture.
snatch i think
Is this the only reference you've caught?
