What's the best first episode you've seen of a show?
Pic related for me.
I thought that first episode was pretty nonsensical.
My favorite would probably be Mushishi.
I liked the set up with Quattro in the beginning, we got to know Kamille pretty well within the first episode, and it had a cliffhanger that made me want to know more. After watching MSG then shifting right to Zeta, the difference in production values and direction really blew me away, too.
I felt like the shift from MSG to Zeta was too jarring.
Kamille's actions in the first episodes made no sense to me, I didn't know who was fighting who, or why there was more than one red mech.
I did like the change in style, though.
Zeta Gundam certainly was the best first episode at making me want to punch the MC in the face.
I really liked the Shakugan no Shana first episode. Pity the rest of the series was shit.
Well, I like that we didn't know the whole details on who was fighting who, it added some mystery and made me want to know what was going on.
Though it's funny when you realize the whole war started because Kamille got mad at Jerid making fun of his name.
I'm not kidding. Maybe it's because it was my first Sawano anime because I replayed that episode at least 20 times when it was airing.
Ga Rei Zero.
Oh what it could've been.
I don't know if it was the best, but Ergo Proxy had a good first episode. Then it just got boring in the middle.
Macross Frontier (deculture ed.)
They had 5 or so years in between the shows. Which is actually a lot when you think about it, going from late 70s to mid 80s really will change how your anime looks. Also got more funding, probably.
