This is the shit that is killing manga.

http://www.tokyopop.com/RSOM_PeoplesChoice/tp_article/1023144.html

Seriously, Tokyopop is encouraging western people to further corrupt the manga industry. Oh boy, I can't wait to go to my local manga section and see less of that dirty FOREIGN manga.

Seriously, these guys are not "manga-ka", tokyopop, and stop trying to make people think they are.
Sure, there is talent there, but it is not manga and if I want to read american comics I will read them as AMERICAN COMICS. Stop blurring the lines.

Pic related as indication of NERDRAGE.

Yeah, well they have weekend long anime course at my college, and their head visted us, and spent half an hour telling us how awesome tokyopop is,
Also check out this archie comic. It's made by an alum of mine

Half of that shit is only similar to manga in that it's not colored.

Stop with this fucking "Japan is superior!"-attitude. Americans can draw manga just as good.

Americans draw American comics.
11s draw manga.

I read manga because it is from Japan
I read comics because they are from america

I like each for its own merits and they should NOT mix. Seeing Megatokyo in my library's manga section next to Eden pisses me off.

no, they try to copy the bad japanese mangakas, what makes em even worse.

It's funny, because every single Amerimanga has that ONE thing in it's art that totally exposes it for being not authentic. It's like they don't even really care, if their art were better, I'd have no problem with it. I mean hell, when I draw, I'd say it looks pretty damn close to authentic. But the ones who get published all of shitty art that nobody buys.

MANGA means it was DRAWN by an Eleven.
Sure, there may be other differences, but this one is a DEFINITION of manga.

No, I don't refuse to read other comics, but they're BY DEFINITION not manga.

And "Hentai" is Japanese word for pervert. But we speak English here, and how we use this word may differ.

Still, manga = Japanese comics. Nothing more, nothing less.

That said, it's a shame that a lot of comic are actually okayish. Then again, "okayish" doesn't bring in the money so they slap on the words manga and bingo. MONIES.

Calling it a 'manga' is clearly an attempt to garner people who are fans of manga and want to draw manga, but unfortunately were born in America.

Manga-style, sure. But I really doubt calling manga 'manga' in korea makes sense if its a manwa, unless its japanese.

Same thing with anime and cartoons, got dang weeaboos.

Something horrible sprung to mind. I was browsing for torrents one day and I saw an ISO for something called MANGA STUDIO. Apparently it's meant to be used to create manga. Being the curious fuckwad, I spent a few hours downloading it and installed it. Holy shit, it was like they played about with Photoshop and tried to recreate it from memory but with MOAR SPEEDLINES.

tl;dr. Slap the word "manga" on anything and people will buy it.

Well, let me tell you something. When me and your mother were just in junior high we went on our first date. But later as we grew I was also somehow two different people. Your mother was a powerful Mew Mew as we have told you. Your mother is a Mew Ichigo. While I was the Blue Knight. Deep Blue and me and myself, but all in the same body! I and Deep Blue had white skin and pointy ears and yellow hair and a BLUE CROSS looking outfit, and saved your mother. But until that form went bad, I was known then as PURE EVIL. Deep Blue. I had white skin and my same hair color was MUCH MUCH longer. I tried to destroy all mankind and all worlds, until I came back as a new me, same as I am now. And me, and Ichiko beat him. We saved everyone and the Earth. Now I just want to tell you, if you become a Mew like your mother, PLEASE fight for good and everything you are born for. Do NOT be afraid to tell your boyfriend most of all tell us, Toya. Please do not HIDE it from us, as well as Ichiko told her parents she was a Mew, Ichigo. As soon as we saved the earth. Just wanted you to know.

Archie: At the core of the character, who is Sabrina?

Tania del Rio: Sabrina, despite all her magical powers, is just a regular teenage girl! She's not the "popular girl", but she's not the one that everyone picks on, either (well, except for Amy, of course!). I think she's a character many teens can relate to... she's got a good heart but she can also be selfish and short-tempered. She doesn't always want to take the advice of those who are older than she is, and she gets distracted easily. At her core, she's just a girl who wants to love and be loved, and who wants to know what her place in life is... as she gets older she has to start thinking about what she wants to be when she grows up and that scares her! I put a lot of my teenage self into Sabrina, because I remember how stressful and confusing it could be! But I was never quite as fashionable as Sabrina, that's for sure!

Archie: Whose idea was it to make Sabrina evil?

Tania del Rio: My editor Mike and I discussed it as a way to spice up the Sabrina storyline and I realized that it fell right into place with the overall story I wanted to tell. I think this is Sabrina's personal "test" she has to endure before she can become the person who can help save the Magic Realm.
