I just finished the Mushishi OVA last night, and to be honest, I was floored at how amazing the whole episode was.
What stood out for me though is how they also get to revisit the people whose lives have ultimately been changed by Ginko, with the exception of those who did not make it(Io from episode 5 is missing though, she might be somewhere in the episode but I did not notice).
It made the Solar Eclipse sequence a majestic sight, each callback seems to follow season one's episode order, not counting Tanyuu and Dr. Adashino since the both of them have their own scenes in the anime.
First scene is from Ep. 1
Episode 2, the Light of the Eyelid
Episode 3, Tender Horns
Ep. 7, Where there is rain, there's a rainbow
Ep. 8, Where sea meets man
Ep. 9, the Heavy Seed
Ep. 10, Sleeping Mountain
>Ep.11, the White that dwells within the Inkstone
This is Ep. 10, Sleeping Mountain
Ep. 14, Inside the Cage
Ep. 15, Pretense of Spring
Ep. 16, Sunrise Serpent
Ep. 17, Picker of Empty Cocoons
Hey, continue! I recognized them all but this may bring some real discussion.
Ep. 18, Clothes that embrace the mountain
Ep. 19, String from the sky
Ep. 21, Cotton Spore
Ep. 22, Shrine in the sea
I may get some hate for this, but story-wise, is there any difference between the Dub and Sub on S1? I watched the whole of season one Dubbed, while I saw the OVA in Jap. Kinda bothered me a little, but did I actually miss anything watching the Funi Dub?
I have such shitty memory.
I only remember like half of them.
Ep. 23, The Sound of Rust
I really prefer the subs over the dubs, mainly due to the fact that I like Ginko and Tanyuu's VA, not to mention Adashino is fun to listen to as well.
I'd recommend over the subs over the dubs, but again, that's just preference, I've heard that the dubs for this series were great.
watching the OVA at like 12 o-clock when I had 6 oclock classes was totally worth it
Ep. 24, Journey in the field of fire
Ep. 25, Eye of Fortune, Eye of Misfortune
Lastly, Ep. 26, The sound of footsteps on the grass
Io's non-appearance bothers me, there was no implication in the end of her episode that she died afterwards, and yet she was nowhere in this epiode.
I like how there's a Guardian in the previews that are supposed to show people who seek the help of Ginko
