Why the fuck do shounen and seinen authors write this pandering shit? It completely breaks immersion and reminds you that you're reading nothing more than a pathetic fantasy wish-fulfillment for failures who are too disgusting to even try to imagine themselves as being slightly better than they are.

There is no girl who is going to find something like this endearing. A lot of guys wouldn't care if a girl acted this way, but almost no girl wants to see a guy talk like this. It's whiny and childish. But instead of writing a romance story where the male protagonist actually shows a bit of confidence or a realistic story where the girl gets grossed out by stuff like this, we have this rage-inducing, dime-a-dozen toilet paper stories, where the main character cries about how pathetic he is, but the pretty girl still goes for him.

>almost no girl wants to see a guy talk like this.
But you see that shit all the time in manga aimed at young girls and women, especially BL.

You're perfectly right otherwise.
>>
then stop reading pandering shit you faglord

Shut the fuck up. /a/ suggested this series multiple times, and it's criminally adorable in every way aside from how pathetic the main character can be.

Manga artists need to stop making their protagonists so completely pathetic for fear that otaku won't relate to them anymore.
>>
>almost no girl wants to see a guy talk like this

How would you even know that? Do you know girls?
>>
>>100977995
99% of /a/ hasn't even talked to a girl so it always amuses me when I see threads like this
>>
I found this more of just lazy writing. People keep saying beta is for self-insert crap but if you want to see self-insert of otaku look at 70% of doujin games.

Seems like you're just jelly.

It's common knowledge. Male love interests in female targeted fiction are nearly always confident types. In real life, men who can't find a date are the ones who are overly apologetic and can't talk normally.
>>
>>100978461
You're comparing female fantasy to someone who apologizes?
>>
>>100978586
Yes, because they're both grounded in real life. Forget romance or even gender. Would you want to be friends with someone who's always apologizing for everything, crying, and putting themselves down? That crap would get uncomfortable real fast. You can't relax around someone who idolizes you and thinks so little of themselves.
>>

Some girls actually get off on powertripping like that. Of course, they're not nice girls and the guys are more or less being used.

>You can't relax around someone who idolizes you and thinks so little of themselves.

And yet, that's exactly what a wiafu is supposed to do.

You speak as if you are not such a being.
It's perfect for you, stop complaining.

Most losers outside of Japan fantasize about being more than a loser.

Losers in Japan fantasize about being a loser but having the world accommodate them

Men and women are different. Many guys find a lack of confidence cute in a girl. But even that gets real old real fast.
