What is Yu-Gi-Oh actually about?
Warriors killing Dragons who eat Spellcasters who curse Warriors
Actully about meme.
Egyptian Pharaohs sealed the power of ancient gods into a children's card game, and fabulous villains doing fabulous things.
CHILDREN'S CARDGAMES ON FLYING MOTORCYCLES IN SPACE RAPPING!
Friendship, determination and keeping your head up no matter how bleak things look.
I thought it was to sell you cards.
The original concept had nothing to do with the card game. Yugi was shy and timid and let people push him around all the time. He found his Millennium Puzzle at the game shop his grandfather owns and decided to take it because a legend said that whoever finishes it will have one wish granted (and "be infused with my dark powers and knowledge" but they didn't read that part until later.) Yugi wishes for friends and completes the puzzle thus unlocking the pharaoh inside. The pharaoh is a confident young man who loves to gamble and he takes over Yugi's body whenever he's in trouble and saves the day by challenging the villain to a Shadow Game. If (really when) they lose, they are punished with a penalty game which will bring their greatest fear to life. When the pharaoh takes over, Yugi has no memory of the events afterwords so he unwittingly saves the people who pick on him this way and they accept him as a friend, making his wish come true.
The show went on like this for quite a few chapters until the card game was introduced then the fans started mailing letters to Shonen Jump asking if it was real and the author of the manga decided to extend it. That's what it's really about.
Read the manga.
It originally was 3edgy5u, but somewhat well executed.
Duel Terminal Anime when?
>tfw I ditched my 200 euros worth of cards for 60 euros because I was stupid
Watch "season zero"
In our dreams, anon.
Don Thousand here, Z-One is a fucking pussy.
Card who eats your soul.
That's actually kinda cool.
Is he the final boss of zexal?
Season zero was actually really enjoyable too.
He's the big, evil god who was behind everything final boss character, but he's the third to last duel, before Yuma and Shark and Yuma and Astral.
It's about this 5 that I just got.
Inferior to manga.
Fuck off you filthy casual, this is entry level shit, watch more anime faggot.
I coming in this thread so I can activate this genocide.
Can't touch this
As great as it may sound, you will find it dead more times than you imagine, drawing it feels bad too. Tech it.
It's about adding cards to your hand.
Don't talk shit bout my tricks
Ghostricks are shit. Even Sylvans are better.
I knew the series didn't start out being about Duel Monsters but I wasn't sure what exactly it was based on that lead to the introduction of the card game.
Also the card game will always be "Duel Monsters" to me. The franchise as a whole is "Yu-Gi-Oh".
say goodbye to exodia
>there will never be more about the King of Games cheating at games
...said everyone about most things.
About an ancient egyptian pharaoh locked into the millenium puzzle and his quest to regain his memories of the past and collect all of the millenium items so he can pass on to the afterlife.
Duel monsters is based on an ancient egyptian shadow game where they summoned monsters through tablets to fight each other.
The plot was decent enough. Unfortunatly 99% of the show was purely cardgames.
Season 0 > All
This is coming from someone that won 3 regionals in a row.
Back when all ele/baby drags were still at 3
I remember I waifued Winda when I played over the nexus.
How to cheat at card games.
Gustos a Cute
>implying you actually won 3 regionals
Read the original manga. It didn't get to be about a card game a long while. Thats why all the people who complain about "season 1 not following the rules" are stupid. The story predates the card game by a few years.
Here's your citation. It's actually really good.
Ancient Egyptian Magic taken on the shape of a Card Game where people will devote their lives to and kill each other for a chance to be a champion at a childrens card game. Also, the Champion, Weevil was shocked and confused when Yugi played a Trap card.
What the fuck, man?
I own the series and really enjoy the dub since it was my first exposure to it and nostalgic
Yugi played gambling games and if they lost he would kill them or send their soul to the shadow realm
>he would kill them or send their soul to the shadow realm
He'd kill or punish them if they cheated.
Later on other guys show up and gamble too.
It's basically less manly supernatural Kaiji with Akagi as the MC.
Atem never cheated. He usually won when others tried to cheat so that he could punish them.
>Atem never cheated
He always stacks his deck.
The games are always designed in a way that he wins.
He didn't cheat, he just had magic powers so that the universe worked in his favor. Pretty much everyone cheating in Yu-Gi-Oh got killed or punished. Keith got his brains shot out by Pegasus.
>he just had magic powers so that the universe worked in his favor
Sounds like cheating to me.
He explicitly cheats in the manga, more often than not.
Also, this whole 'heart of the cards' bullshit is a dub original. What he really did was stacking his deck.
Are you fucking serious right now?
It's not really that farfetched that he won 3 glorified locals.
It's not cheating, his drawing whatever he needed was a power he used unconsciously. If you cheat in a Shadow game, you lose automatically. That's one of the most important rules in them.
He can change destiny so he gets the cards he needs. Thats magically cheating, and its just ok because hes the MC
>his drawing whatever he needed was a power he used unconsciously
He might not have consciously activated it, but he still knows it happens and continues to play despite it
Look at the games in >>100972678
The money game was blatantly set up in a way that the delinquent was forced to attack Yugi to win, same thing about the dice game, then the sound game and the finger game.
Everything is always stacked in his favor, it's always either set up in a way that he always wins or cheating.
To be fair, Z-ONE would've been a lot better if not for that retarded, almost last minute twist.
Usio could not cheat and win, it's not Yugi's fault that he wants to stab him rather than just play the game normally. That's like saying Russian roulette is cheating because you can just shoot the other guy. Same with the Spider guy.
>The money game was blatantly set up in a way that the delinquent was forced to attack Yugi to win
No it wasn't, are you fucking retarded?
He just wanted all the money. Shut up.
Sure, but there's more.
The game with the fortune teller, the game with the bomb at the school festival.
In which he didn't cheat either. Show me where Yugi cheats and does not get punished for doing so.
How were either of those cheating?
It's not cheating, its the heart of the cards dummies.
>Back when all ele/baby drags were still at 3
I bet you think you're skilled
There was totally skill needed in that format
Because every competitive game was a mirror match or against prophecy
No, Nasch and Yuma kill him and then Nasch jacks his shit and becomes the true final boss.
>first duel that kicks off the show's plot is with Shark
>last duel to finish that story is with Shark
nice book ends
Children's Card Games
If they're for children, why are are all the winners of the tournaments in their 20's
Maybe man-children is a type of children hmm?
selling card games while season 0 was SAW the anime
It's about selling trading cards.
the pleasure of being cummed inside
That guy doesn't really understand the word "cheating"
Its about being a dick and not telling your opponent you played a card or used a card eff.
Don Thousand is a real pro in this.
for some reason "commercial shounen" has the entire world revolve around what they are trying to market.
>implying you didn't just state it
THE HEART OF THE CARDS
it doesn't make sense in-universe
>big bad has gun
>threatens to kill/rape pillage/whatever
>punk ass kid challenges him to top battle/marble shooter battle/card game/what else the marketing team came up with
>fucks off instead of kicking the kids ass or just shooting them
>ancient evil awakens
>is planning to tentacle rape the earth
>gets beaten in card game
>fucks off never to be heard from again
It's about this.
Games are serious business you faggot.
>THE DICE GOT CUT IN HALF
>ITS NOW A 7
fucking fag pharaoh
in any normal game he would be kicked out for cheating.
Anyone here who plays on DN or YGPRO?
