What manga are you reading right now? How is it?
Currently reading this, and boy, this is the best comedy manga I read in recent years.
>Currently reading one manga
NEXT SPIRIT CIRCLE CHAPTER FUCKING WHEN
The author is my father, expect it any second now.
I myself cycle through over 400 different manga
none of them updates
Please go suck his dick for me.
Just so you know, this is female comedy.
Where did I say I only reading one manga?
I'm currently following 33 different manga series, Seki-kun just happen to be my newest addition.
Also, waiting desperately for Hyakko's new chapter.
It makes me feel a lot better about myself
Iris Zero. I'm on volume 3 cause I bought it.
It's like Hyouka but the story was much, much darker. Shit's really getting real at volume 3.
I also bought Seki-kun volume 2 today OP.
>reading manga about guns
Enjoy your modified automatic revolvers with extended clip.
I finished volume 10 of Ashita no Joe earlier this morning.
Only 3 more volumes before I catch up with the released scanlations, and I'm dreading this moment.
Everything from volume 8 and what happens at the end of it has been really great. The despair Joe goes through is very well portrayed, and the story manages to be emotional without falling into melodrama.
>Also, waiting desperately for Hyakko's new chapter.
Enjoy waiting for 100 years ;_;
>It's like Hyouka but the story was much, much darker.
Really? Might pick it up if this is true.
Yes. Main character is a thinker like Oreki. The main girl is pretty much a less active Chitanda. There're some supernatural shit, but it's not exaggerated. It's just there to make the cases more interesting. Also there's bit of romance too.
Hmm, might be a fun read. Will check it out.
I'm at chapter 25. Does it get worse for Punpun?
in ways you can never imagine. you're in for a ride
How depressing is this manga compared to, let's say, Watamote?
Watamote is a comedy and not depressing at all.
It's on a whole different scale, it will leave you depressed.
Damn. I'm going to continue now. See you after a few months, /a/.
how slow are you at reading anon?
Kodomo no Jikan and Usagi Drop.
Which one is better for a lolicon like me?
Last time he came here was months ago. He's probably going to make a few posts every few months and then stop posting entirely.
The Voyinch Hotel is amazing. It's so cute, but it also freaks me the fuck out at the same time. Douman is so great.
Shame it's been a while since the last chapter.
New Ajin chapters when.
Cute girls riding cute bikes. It's fun and a little informative. Pic related.
>Sakamoto Desu Ga?
Ridiculous and pretty funny too. Lots of one page thread material.
>Tonari no Seki-kun
Needs no introduction.
Hated by /ak/ fags, but I like it. More emphasis on silliness than on gun porn.
Story crawls along to the point where it's almost about nothing. For some strange reason I still read it.
Cute girls doing cute things.
I recently picked up the everyday monster girl manga. It's okay.
Is that the Stig?
This one shot
Because the depression got to him, and he went to the realm of 2D.
Nah, it's Raimu-senpai.
>33 different manga series
Cute girls doing gay things. Nothing great but pretty good for a 4-koma.
Translations have gotten a bit wonky since the main group took over around chapter 8, but I like the manga a lot.
Formulaic, but I do like some of the girls. And for a harem the MC isn't awful. Also the gang backdrop is absurd and funny at times.
Really good for a shoujo. Good gags, likeable characters, decent art: regular sized limbs and hands (but small heads).
>bakuon getting translated
how i wish this would happen, seen that some anons were talking about doing it like a half year ago and nothing happend after that
>Story crawls along to the point where it's almost about nothing. For some strange reason I still read it.
It's called SoL anon-kun. And it's indeed a great SoL manga.
Mujaki no Rakuen
>Formulaic, but I do like some of the girls. And for a harem the MC isn't awful. Also the gang backdrop is absurd and funny at times.
You must still be around chapter 20.
Just caught up with Dorohedoro.
Holy fuck the last volume can't come quick enough.
Why are you on Deviantart?
An otaku that became a teacher. Comedy and school life.
An alien that's going to destroy the world unless it's killed. Became a teacher and is raising the students to kill him. School life, action.
>Imawabi no Dakini
A student that made a deal with a fox goddess to save his childhood friend. Action
Robots doing robot stuff. Action.
>Dogs: Bullets & Carnage
Three people living their lives as assassins, each has a complicated past. Action, drama.
>Gun x Clover
A school for mercenaries. MC is a student but is actually 40 years old. Action, ecchi, harem.
An organization fighting spiders. MC has a cute loli partner. Action.
>Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha
MC is apparently from the Hero Clan and is living with the next ruler of hell. A girl. Action, ecchi.
>Seikon no Qwaser
People use chemistry to fight. Action, ecchi.
MC is surrounded by weird women. A stalker, serial killer, and more.
A villain but is actually a good guy. Going to kill heroes and shit. Action.
I have more but too lazy to list them all.
>Why are you on Deviantart?
So I can laugh at autism hedgehogs without having to go on Sonic Passion.
Ah, I get it.
It's horrible on purpose.
Currently non, last one I read was kodomo no jikan though, I liked that a lot, very satisfying ending to it.
Yet what I haven't been able to find out is why they never released the announced last chapter of it.
Reading Blame!, 15 chapters in. I don't know what the fuck is going on
>That deviantart tier art
>All that unused space
>"Re Covery Po Tion"
Patience anon. It will happen some day.
What's this about?
A man with a lizard head and lost memories kills Magic Users with his waifu in gruesome ways to find the guy who cursed him.
It's filled with black comedy and gore. I'm usually not really into that sort of thing, but the world building and sense of mystery is superb.
Although by far my favourite manga I can't even read it again because I know it will leave me depressed for days.
What are you? A faggot?
>think of it as being stalled
What do you think is the best anime-to-manga adaptation?
Pic related for me.
What's your opinion of honorifics in manga translation?
Depends on the setting.
not only that, i want to see her animated
i want the girls to talk about countersteering and diffrences in riding expirience on various motorcycles damnit
Even the fanbase doesn't have any idea what the fuck is going on, google for Blame! fan-site, they should have a mini-dictionary for everything that's happening.
Love that series. The art can get rough at times, and it THRIVES on misunderstandings and lack of communication, but there's still something about it that really appeals to me.
There're so many fucking plotlines going on at the same time that it's amazing that they all are beginning to fit together.
All the timejumping omakes doesn't help in making it any less confusing.
Watamote is cringe. Punpun will give you some degree of depression.
Korosensei is probably man made.
I'm reading through Rurouni Kenshin. It's great, that Shishio battle was spectacular.
street fighting manga
it's taken 15 volumes for someone to attempt to kick someone in the balls
Berserk, it doesn't feel the same after golden arc for some reason.
Just caught up with Akame ga Kill and Prison School and finished Biomega.
I've started Bokurano last night and I'm currently at volume 5 of Samidare.
It's not the same, it's not as good, but it's still great.
Aw shit nigga.
As much as I love Biscuit Hammer I must say it's overrated. It deserves an anime and everyone should read it, but it's not as good as everyone says.
Yes, I'm not impressed, I even bought it because you faggots all hypet it so much, I now have all the volumes except the last one which comes out next month.
Maybe it gets better after volume 4.
You're all niggas with no taste.
>Afterschool War Activities:
High school teens recruited as war drafts to fight shiny blue yoga balls that can murder you. 8/10, characters are pretty believable and the dialogue isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
New series, a cook that focuses on dragons. Nothing special, but I'm following it.
Guy gets magical abilities that work like being a JRPG protag in real life. Art is basic, but I'm a sucker for series that focus on games and the internet, as they're super rare and good series even more so.
>How to Hug an Elephant
has not been updated in forever, this guy can alter the gravity of stuff, but it seems to focus on him making friends and "muh romance"
>The Children's Teacher, Mr. Kwon
holy shit, I for one enjoy this series very much, but there's way more drama than I expected.
>Girls of the Wild's
First male student enrolls in high school that focuses on teaching women martial arts. Queen most adorable girl.
>Tower of God
the manhwa that turned me around on manhwa, this series is about a child climbing a Tower of God. Essentially a place that collects everyone of MC power status from all walks of life and sets them in a Mortal Combat tournament.
Now for manga:
adorable high school freshmen do adorable high school freshmen things during a zombie apocalypse. Written better than most zombie settings.
first manga series I've read with a stalker character, she's pretty genre-savvy so it's neat.
>Apocalypse no Toride
Most people don't enjoy this one, but it's got me totally hooked. No idea when the next update will be, though. I think this updates every few months.
>Monster Musume no Nichijou
killed my arachnophobia.
This series is hard to describe, but essentially it's a lizard guy who's trying to find the person who cursed him with a lizard face. Eats gyozas made by fem-side-protag.
Don't worry, the ending is great. Don't expect it to be the second coming of Christ.
Hey I'm not saying it's bad, I love it and think it's great, that doesn't stop it from being overrated. The same happens with Berserk.
Hyakko got canned bro the author is working on another series. You are gonna be waiting forever.
What scares me is that they're constantly referencing the opportunity for more timejumping, and therefore more potential for more plotlines.
It's not bad but I'm not impressed. It's not even close to something like Berserk. For now.
Was that a citation or am I too autistic?
Well, Nikaido has 3 more charges, right?
I've never seen such a stupid faggot, I bet you didn't even read Medaka Box.
yeah, three more. I think it's the author giving us an idea for how much longer they're gonna keep the series going. I really hope it ends with Nikaido's shop beings fun n' games central with all the characters dropping in for great food from time to time.
Is the setting post-apocalypse ala Fallout?
Not bad, not bad at all
Kinda. The main city is called "Hole".
Interpret that as you will.
how does it compare to the anime, is it worth reading after you've watched all of it?
To me the first 15, or what it is, volumes of Berserk are a 10/10, never said overrated and don't even care about that.
It'd be like a dream come true.
the setting is people (like the protag) live in a shitty place called Hole, where they're at the mercy of magic-users who come down for test subjects for their spells and such.
>only on mangahere
It's also on batoto.
He only drops the brackets when he gets somewhat serious. The hell is this slut saying is not something he'd say without his brackets.
That's the point you idiot.
And it's just a fucking image you cockmongler.
Agree, Tonari no Seki-kun is brilliant.
If you didn't care why do you respond? You don't think it's just an image if you care so much. And whatever do you mean by that's the point, having the brackets would make the image make much more sense and be funnier. I'm seriously doubting you read MB.
>Why are you responding to me?
>Why doesn't this image fit the established canon?
>Hurr I can't hear you over the cocks in my anus.
Now that stoptazmo is dead, Mangatraders is the best place to download manga, right?
Recently picked up "All You need is Kill" and a new Hitoshi Ashinano manga, "Kotonoba Drive".
Going through the 66th volume of One Piece.
Will probably pick up Sengoko Youko and Kangoku Gakuen.
I think the artist went too literal with her design among other things
Fishman Island arc was shit, Punk Hazard is good but not great. Dressrossa is amazing, so keep reading.
The current state of Girls of the Wilds makes me sad. It used to be good, now it's now turned to fujoshit levels and every new chapter makes me cringe.
There is a Yume Nikki manga?
Next chapter when?
I don't want to believe you. I don't want to believe you.
Furry tits. It's okay.
>The big 3
Nothing special, just been following so long that I can't drop it now. Asspulls in Bleach are entertaining though, and I like how the backstories explain some things.
My favorite manga but I miss the comedy arcs
>HSDK, Breaker new waves
Nice fight scenes, Breaker has great fights and art
The plot thickens (both plots), plus hidden backstories and conspiracy shit
>A shit ton of 4komas
I like my SoL
And a whole lot more, but I can't be bothered to list them atm
Why was Doraemon so great
Just marathoned Gantz in 3 days.
Ugh, I'm gonna be sick. Also fuck that ending.
All you need is kill?
I don't know. Just read the novel if you're too curious.
Is that Beethoven? I never understand what the fuck is going on in this manga.
I don't know man, something about it is adventurous, light-hearted, and rambunctious.
It's Toei's equivalent to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?
Because it's shit.
Whoops, I slipped that unconsciously.
Actually why not post some pics?
Man, Prison School really is amazing.
I forgot I also reread Springald by Fujita.
I finished Franken-Fran last week
It was awesome
And everyone thinks I'm baiting when I say this is edgy. It may be a void word but this stuff seriously is exaggerated kinda in a bad way.
I forgot Boku wa Mari no Naka and Aku no Hana too.
The hair of the second girl, part of it is down in a way that looks like a nose...
Finished rereading veritas, not as good as I remembered it but the tits are still top percentage.
Also great motivation to lift.
Kindom is great especially with the fast updates.
Also Feng Shen Ji and Nanatsu no Taizai
Looking for a new one to read and I think I found one in the thread.
oh and the new aiki
The first arcs are shit. Flask Plan is decent. After that it's the best thing in Jump for years. All thanks to Kumagawa
I liked the ending. The last arc was kind of boring to read biweekly, but marathoning it it's better.
I remember Manyuu Hikenchou, the manga never got translated past one or two chapters.
Even before being animated, translation never continued.
Too much dialogue.
>a new Hitoshi Ashinano manga
Holy shit, you just made my day.
I just finished the first volume of Nononono.
Never expected to find my own language in a manga ever.
>Currently reading this, and boy, this is the best comedy manga I read in recent years.
Then you don't read that much .
>only men can ski jump in Olympics
>women can now ski jump in Olympics
All that hardship for nothing
I'm up to stone ocean in JoJo
I'm also following the big 3, SnK... and berserk ;_;
I think I'll reread yotsuba after JoJo, that or try again to read hellsing
Read HxH after you finish Jojo. You can cope with the hiatus if you are reading Berserk.
Isn't this that manga where there are two girls, one ugly and one average, and the average girl was rekt hard by a guy who ignores her and goes for her ugly friend instead? Did what I say even make sense?
I was actually thinking of just watching HxH. I read it up to whatever arc that had the guy with the cross on his head was in and stopped because like yyh I thought the art looked uneven and not that good
Isn't that a good thing?
You're thinking of this, right? I have no idea, I've only read the first volume so far, and it didn't appear there.
i really need to catch up with this
I prefer the manga, but the new anime is great. Manga art is uneven and there's Togashi's scribbles, but I like his style.
The only problem I see with your statement is the "kinda" part.
The author surely inflicts damage on cute girls without any remorse.
Yes, that's what I'm talking about.
Now that I look at it, it seems the art is quite different. Probably not the same manga.
You shouldn't have started it.
Leave this thread before it's too late.
Good for you, then.
>I thought the art looked uneven and not that good
You probably read the magazine scans, the tankobon are better.
I used it because I think the writing can be good most of the time but then there are a lot of moments that ruin everything and makes you question yourself why the fuck are you reading it.
>What manga are you reading right now? How is it?
So many, that I forget about them, or their names, or their content.
Well entertaining at least.
>night biking is great
As a guy who commutes with bike everyday, I can confirm this.
What's the point. then?
I'm reading Naruto so when i finish it i can confidently say that's it's shit and why is that.
I'm at volume 25 and it's pretty dull, it doesn't go anywhere. Throughout the manga Kishimoto does too many flashbacks to give backstory and explain what was leading to current events but stuff is already straightforward so it's just tedious to go through it. Just overall it's around 5\10 so far, it doesn't excel in art, story, characters or anything but I heard it gets better.
I thought this is Gintama when I saw the thumbnail.
>What's the point. then?
Well I stumple upon them once again, some time later.
And I'm still able to remember about 5% of them on regular basis.
Is D.Gray-man even a thing anymore?
Like, I don’t even know the release schedule now and it’s so hard to tell what’s going on without reading the latest chapter twice and then going back and reading the previous chapter.
Uhm, I don't wanna discuss your habits, but why the fuck would you read a scrollcomic on mangareader?
They're meant to be read in a single page where you simply keep scrolling down. You can read it that way on Batoto.
What I'm following at the moment on Batoto. I dropped a lot of the series I had on MU since I moved, but I still use it to find new series.
It's pretty good but i dont find it amazing like so many people say. It's filled with cliches and it gets predictable.
I just started to read Itou-san.
Unfortunately, the first thing I thought seeing this was "Bonnouji".
Yo, don't know if you know, but volume 29 of Id was scanlated by Mangacow, and therefore is not in Batoto.
Just saying in case you didn't know (I myself jus found out two weeks ago, and it was done in november or so already).
>those TL notes
I didn't, thanks.
Can someone give their opinion on this manga?
Just picked up and read through, and finished Cage of Eden.
Seriously what the fuck, the ending was worse than LOST.
It's good. Korosensei is great. I've laughed a lot.
The serious arcs are the best thing ever, but there's too many episodic arcs. You should give it a try.
Dropped because it wasn't interesting, may pick it up again.
Ongoing series which I've read a chapter of recently:
the ravages of time
blood and steel
song of the long march
tonari no seki-kun
gunka no baltzar
And there's a bunch of stuff that I'm "following" but can barely remember what's going on since it's been so long since a chapter, like Liar Game. And for some ongoing series I wait until several chapters are released before reading them all at once.
So like, I read the first 1 and a half volumes of prison school because some anons said it was good.
Does it like, get better or something? I dropped it because it doesn't seem like it goes beyond thinly veiled porn, which doesn't even work for me because the girls are pretty much the opposite of my tastes.
You're welcome. Now to wait three more months before the next release.
>but I heard it gets better
It doesn't. It gets worse.
Just wait until it gets ch. 112 or so. Holy shit that shit is insane.
Somebody ripped the Viz translation. It was a lot better.
I think the author is good at building tension and the art is awesome.
Read a couple of more volumesand then decide.
Series started really good but falls flat gradually until it becomes shit when you reach the latest chapters. Latest translated arc was retarded and way too predictable even for shounen manga standards.
It's very funny, almost Gintama-tier levels of comedy.
>almost Gintama-tier levels of comedy
I dropped Gintama while reading the second volume because I didn't find it to be as funny as everybody says it is. Should I read it again?
I love Sket Dance, if that helps.
Are you man enough for this game /a/?
>go on mangafox.me
>press surprise button
>download that manga from your source of choice, post it here and finish it
Watch the anime. Sugita makes everything x2 funny. Then read the manga when you love it.
Any series with some kind of resurrection techniques has 90% chance of being shit. Yes, Dragon Ball too.
Bullshit, Prison school is shit.
You could do the same exact thing on Batoto.
Sorry, but I can't compare if it's better because I haven't read Sket Dance.
And yeah, as >>100974113 said. This is one of the rare moments when Anime is better than the manga.
Thanks to that we got Madara, so I'm happy with that.
That's quite a feat.
Thanks for the warning.
I don't watch anime
Sket Dance is Gintama in High School, as far as I heard.
It doesn't help that the setting is similar.
It's like the author just decided to wrap everything up in like 6 chapters at the end. They completely set aside plot that had been building up, and the asspull explanation for the events of the manga made it terrible. It even had a 3 year timeskip that explained very little.
Sket Dance is bad. Gintama is Nichibros level. All thanks to Sugita.
Welp, time to download it, then.
I read the Manga, dumass.
Fuck you, Prison School is awesome.
Sorry, I meant to quote>>100974113
There's no need to be this upset, geez.
Even now, I can't decide if Gintama is a comedy or serious series.
It's clearly a gag.
What do you think?
Do you like SoL? Do you like Renaissance Europe?
If the answer to both questions is 'Yes', then you should read this manga. Right now.
Does anybody know if Dark Horse volumes 11-13 of Eden! It's an Endless World have been uploaded anywhere? I have 1-10 but I can't find 11-13, and 14-18 haven't been released yet. Maybe like a /a/ mediafire dump like we have for Berserk or something?
>She becomes a man when she's on the basketball court, and she was kicked out of women's basketball team when her quirk is revealed. Ryudo learns her secret, and reluctantly becomes her ally and roommate!
>wrapping those cowtits to disguise as a boy
jesus this thread made me realize I'm currently following atleast 57 series. I never expected the number to be this big. also would anyone have some good 4koma to recommend?
Those eyebrows are enough reason to pick it up.
I don't get how anyone could like 4komas. They are boring as shit.
I don't get how anyone can like battle shounen. They are boring as shit.
I don't read many of them because a lot of them have pretty lazy art, but I like Aiura.
Your post made me remember I want to read this:
Anyone knows how good it is? I love Sakamoto's art.
I don't think I've ever fully read a battle shounen before. I read Peridot but I think that counts as seinen.
I don't get how anyone could like seinen. They are boring as shit.
I don't know if this is it; I found it on the Foolz archive:
Try Waratte! Sotomura-san.
These comparisons don't make sense.
Battle shounen at least have storylines and variation in arcs. 4komas are always slice of life comedies about highschool girls. And the restriction of panels make it very monotone.
Just finished reborn, I found it enjoyable with some flaws.
I want to read more shounen shit but I think I've read most of the well known/popular ones. Looking through bakaupdates hasnt given me any ideas on what shounen shit out there I should read.
I don't get how anyone could like manga. They are boring as shit.
Eh, sorry. Read this:
Welcome to /a/ motherfucker
Reborn was absolute garbage.
It doesn't matter either way, I mean using mangareader is dumb, but if you download The Gamer and it's in pages, that's just fine. Fuck koreans shitty format.
Reborn is shit. The essential battle shonen are
Hunter x Hunter
Hokuto no Ken
This is no longer true btw, Q Hayashida is extending it to 20 volumes.
> not Magi
>More people starting 'what are you reading threads'
Yes, hopefully these will be more common for discussing random manga.
How dare you not include Kinnikuman.
It's not that good. And the art is kind of shit. I was actually thinking about putting it, but I thought that not putting it is better.
It's not fully translated as far as I know.
These are much better than one page threads. I insist there should be a /ma/ board
>4komas are always slice of life comedies about highschool girls.
Slice of life comedies a are common yes, but you're generalizing on the second. There are 4komas about incest, futurepast and chuunis.
Well these are more discussion oriented rather than recommendation, with the OP being just to start some conversation
>4komas are always slice of life comedies about highschool girls
No they aren't.
The original series is. The author just happened to continue it after Nisei.
Anyone read Innocent?
So /a/, how do you get your manga? I use free manga downloader for downloading, and mangaai for putting it on my Kobo. I read on my monitor if it's ongoing.
Shit I had no idea, downloading it now. You might add it to my list
BakaBT, Mangatraders, Animebytes, Batoto, Kissmanga, DomDomSoft, Nyaa, Scanlator's site.
I usually just download it from the scanlator's site, but I use FMD sometimes as well.
I know autists don't understand calm down
Does anyone else feel like Ansatsu Kyoushitsu is nowhere as good as it should have been compared to its early chapters? So much wasted potential for me at least. I still like what it is now but it's nowhere near as good as it could have been
Little Forest by the author of Children of the Sea and Majou. It's a really nice manga, if you like the art style which is kind of sketchy but detailed but suits the storytelling style. I don't think it's as great as Majou so far but I could still be swayed.
>needing the full version to download from Batoto
I really need to buy Children of the Sea. I love Igarashi.
But the latest arc was the best since the begining. A lot of the chapters are boring, but it's still fun.
>not pirating it
Yeah he's one of my favorite current authors as well, I own a hard copy of Hanashippanashi. Still trying to buy all of Children of the Sea.
It's a shame it hasn't been scanned in completely yet, even though I'd want to support him by buying it anyway. It's nice seeing him attempt a longer manga in any case, even though I love all his shorts.
Is gonna get published in Italy, plan to buy it.
I've legit lost track of how many series I'm following. The worst is when something finally gets updated after so long, that I forgot everything else in the series.
I actually just got most of it during the B&N sale Viz was having. Can't read it yet though, because I shipped it to my parent's house.
I feel the same way about Saturn Apartments, even though I own all of it. I really want more people to read it, because it's amazing, but I would like for people to buy it too because I want people to support it. Too bad it flopped hard.
So Saturn Apartments is good? I've been thinking about buying it.
Sometimes I'm surprised by all the good manga Viz puts out. It's a shame they still practice censorship sometimes.
It captures some of that YKK feel if you're into that kind of stuff. The art's pretty different, but I find it endearing. The first three or four volumes are around on the net, so I'd recommend you try it out before you buy it.
Some of the best things I've read came from Viz's Signature line. It's really amazing that they're taking some risks these days. Too many companies are really conservative right now, which is too bad because then nothing caters to me.
This was posted on /a/ yesterday and I'm hooked. A woman trying to become a bullfighter so her death will be broadcast across the nation and reach the eyes of the girl who cheated on her.
My expectations were low because of how hit or miss the comedy sections were in Neuro, I dropped this one because it felt like a chore to read.
>It captures some of that YKK feel
Sold. Guess I'll pick it up. They're Signature line is really good for the most part. Though they fucked up with Dorohedoro which is a shame.
I'm glad they keep bring over Matsumoto Taiyou works, and I really wish they'd get some more Ito stuff.
Other than Ippo, are there any manga that has something to do with training hard and fighting people in a tournament of some sort that isn't shounen but seinen?
Ippo is shounen
I know, I just want something that's seinen and not shounen like ippo.
I'm on volume 5 of Get Backers right now. Does this ever get better or should I just drop it now? I keep hearing/reading about the shit getting real when one of the two protagonists dies and the other steps up or something, but I have vague memories at best.
Freezing, Kiss X Sis, TLR Darkness and Kenichi
I don't quite understand what you're asking for. You want a seinen with themes that are generally found in shounen manga. So why exactly does it matter if it's a seinen? Do you think that seinen automatically better? I hate to break it to you anon, but seinen is just different and different isn't necessarily better.
Anyone here BUYS manga?
I bought Watamote recently and I really enjoy reading manga the way it's supposed to be read.
Why bring up Ippo then? Just ask for a seinen
You should continue, the last arc was pretty serious and it was great.
Not everyone lives in France where they localize everything. In the UK, manga is way too expensive relatively
I live in an east-european shithole where the only available manga are Naruto, Bleach, Death Note and maybe three others that I forgot. I refuse to import so that leaves me with downloading.
I think he means something like Ippo but seinen.
Who DOES NOT buy manga?
Read things for merits other than how hard they make you please.
Yeah, but I'm bilingual so I can also import manga from another country where there's more variety in what gets translated. I try to buy things that are rare and have good art quality, with a secondary focus on supporting the author, so 4koma and stuff like Watamote is out for me personally.
I own all of what's released for Oyasumi Punpun and quite a bit of Jojo.
In Italy we get a lot of stuff and the prices are good, generally from 4 to 8 euros.
ti piace mangiare la merda?
>Sexy Voice and Robo
>that Ponent Mon anthology
my fucking nigger. Also, how did you feel about Panorama Island? It's been sitting on my desk ever since I bought it, and I feel like reading it now.
are you a jap or a nam?
It seems like only these two grew up with doraemon.
I liked Saturn Apartments a lot, but the ending is lackluster. Pacing is just as important for SoL series as any other kind, and part of what makes YKK great is that it slow without spinning its wheels. That felt completely missing from this series as a whole.
That said, I don't regret reading it. Really interesting setting and good character moments.
>mfw I saw fucking doraemon stuff in Portuguese India of all places.
It was pretty good. My second favorite Suehiro work behind The Laughing Vampire.
It's much tamer than most of his other stuff. The story was pretty simple without much intrigue or mystery (at least to me). Despite that it was still interesting.
And the art was amazing. Suehiro at his best.
I wish you were dead.
I watched Doraemon when I was younger. It was great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy7CEkLlfBU
>kokou no hito
I'm jelly beyond belief right now. Actually this whole thread is just a jelly production plant.
Absolutely true. The change in tone at the very end was pretty jarring. Part of me found it amusing that the revolutionary is the clear-cut bad guy, but it really made sense because everyone seems to be okay with the status quo. Introducing the class-based elements might not have been a good idea in the first place. I think that the attempts to add drama really hurt the series, as it's definitely the weak link. The characters make up for that though, in my opinion.
A couple things right now
>GeGeGe no Kitaro
This series is awesome, I regret waiting so long to check it out. I like paranormal/supernatural manga and the mangaka's artwork is incredible.
This is a re-read because I recently received volume 2 in the mail. I like that volume the most because it focuses on my two favorite characters in the series.
I can't read moon but I downloaded all of its raws that are available.
A few chapters in, haven't heard if the manga is as good as the novel or anime but it's drawn by the Hoshin Enji guy and it looks good.
I've just bought all the volumes that you can't see in that pic, now it's complete.
I's impossible to give it a good organization right now, I have to buy new furniture.
I also have Prison School till volume 4.
couldn't help myself
Yeah, the capital E Evil scientist was a really weird addition. It made the sympathetic character seem way dumber for not noticing how shady he was. A good villain should make the protagonists more interesting, not less.
I would have loved for the class issues to have built up throughout the series and actually result in something happening (good or bad) for society. DItto for the trip itself; after all the buildup for what's going on on Earth, there should have actually been something interesting going on.
I tend to only read stuff I translate, so right now that'd be Kiniro Mosaic.
Ayaya a cute.
>tfw I cant buy all of jojo, only stardust crusaders ;_;
A bit too much of BL for me, but the art was nice.
Stalker Manhwa translations fucking when?
I'm 'following' 78, sometimes when I want to pick up something again, I'll re-read the previous volume just to remember the details
Just put everything on mangaupdates.
Shit. Well I'll read the 2 volumes translated anyway.
We really need an alternative to this.
I would buy a localized version of Hayate no Gotoku if it existed in my language.
Did anyone see raws of Mahou shoujo of the End 20? Fuck
More ridiculous twists? Tell me
Watch Hakaba Kitaro now, if you already didn't.
Their policies leave many small projects out of their lists.
>we will only list it if the scanlator has a site
>but we won't list the site
It sucks, but it takes like ten minutes to set up a wordpress or something.
Oh right, I forgot about them not listing sites since I got the fix shortly after they did that.
I wish they listed releases of localized scans.
>Their policies leave many small projects out of their lists.
I didn't know, have an example?
>but we won't list the site
I think they had legal problems with it, and had to be removed. But just yesterday it were posted two scripts which apart from other things listed the websites
Just use Batoto
>I didn't know, have an example?
Hinamatsuri is a good example
They don't list any of this no group stuff
Even if you just use batoto there's no one place that has everything, because licensed releases are only on mangatraders or torrent sites.
Only import, even if there're a couple of exceptions.
>no group links anymore
>can't link any websites that host the manga due to being based in a first world country
>shitty website design
>can't list licensed releases scanlation
I buy manga all the time.
>no group links anymore
Why can't any of these sites get a decent search engine? Batoto and Mangaupdates' searches are fucking retarded. Mangatraders' isn't the best either.
Batoto is using some shitty forumware as their base which is why it's so shit.
Hayate no Gotoku is licensed in the US by Viz, I think (foreigner here), but it is listed at Baka Updates.
I'm reading Domu right know and it's the american edition, which is also mirrored.
Things can still be scanlated even if they're licensed, also illegal scans can be uploaded too.
Not everyone lives in a country where you can buy it.
Those aren't licensed releases being listed.
Dorohedoro is licensed but Viz is still 8 volumes behind, so new chapters get scanlated and listed on MU.
I think he means releases of licensed series, sherlock.
I know what he meant, I was just pointing out his wrong choice of words because I can.
Then "can't list licensed releases scanlation" (>>100982911) doesn't apply.
I'm jelly for YKK though.
It does apply because he meant scans of licensed volumes, which are indeed not listed.
I see. Now back on topic, I got those titles from one page threads:
Asu No Yoichi!
Apocalypse no Toride
Fuan no Tane
Fuan no Tane Plus
Girls Saurus DX
Great Teacher Onizuka
Koe no Katachi
Kuso Manga Bukuro
Kyou no Yuiko-san
Shishunki no Iron Maiden
Tonari no Kashiwagi-san
Witch Craft Works
It will take me at least a month to clear this, dammit.
We all have guilty pleasures, don't we?
Most of these aren't that great... Picking manga based on only one appealing page isn't very discerning.
>Witch Craft Works
It isn't that good. I was dissappointed.
Catching up on Until Death Do Us Part. Going through Fallen Words right now, sort of. Still need to read Mother Sarah.
Do you really want to read all that? I can guarantee you that some of that is genuine shit.
I'm curious to see how things got there.
There are other titles not listed here that I already got current with. I Am a Hero is the best one so far.
Most of the time I end up picking up some of the least interesting pages from there. That is, when I'm not ignoring everything in them entirely.
I found some gems among them, no regrets here.
Reading through Ippo, currently on volume 65, going a good deal past where the anime is right now. I really enjoyed Ippo's fight against Karasawa, his non-use of the Dempsey Roll showed his growth as a boxer, which I was worried about not happening.I know there's a lot of complaints about where the manga goes in the later parts, but I haven't hit that wall yet luckily.
Also read a bit of Gunsmith Cats and have Little Forest, Ping Pong, Undercurrent, and a few other misc things I want to read downloaded. I really need to catch up on my currently running manga, I'm behind on Jojolion, SnK, and quite a few others.
Is Ippo repetitive? I can't understand how a manga about something as restricting as a sport can be so long.
Up to where I'm at? Not too much. There's quite a few characters with different boxing styles and personalities that it follows the fights of. Ippo's fights can bet repetitive at times, but he has a great character arc before that and it seems he might be moving on from his usual pattern as of 65. The fights are always pretty exciting to read though.
Somebody who is up to date or that dropped it at some point after me can answer better though, I still have a little under half the manga left to read.
Why do scanlation groups put watermarks huge every other page water marks on their own releases? It is like, manga DRM. The people who they are trying to thwart by doing this don't give a fuck, and the people who actually wait for their releases have to deal with shitty watermarks.
>put watermarks huge every other page water marks on their own releases
What's the worst watermark you've ever seen?
The worst is when they cut the page in half and put a big ad in between.
How many years passed inside the Ippo universe?
Well clearly, they want to be recognized for their work.
It is what it is.
Wet Bandits, why else?
A page before each chapter does that fine.
It's just kinda terrible how weirdly possessive scanlation groups can be.
Mangapanda shoving one in the middle of the page was pretty bad. They sometimes count as a scan group -- although they work with MangaBurn and all those other faggots.
Japanzai's gif switchers were amusing to see.
A-Team's FUCK YOU MANGAFOX still brings a smile to my face. Haven't read their releases in a long time though. I have to hand it to them for being as autistic as they are.
Where I'm at about 5 years have passed.
Detective Conan has less chapters, but only a year has passed in it, so it wins.
Now it's not as bad as when prozess and other where at war.
Only a year, but still like 500 days
More. It's not like he solves a murder everyday.
I should probably re-read Dorehodoro, I don't know what the fuck is happening in the recent chapters.
This is super interesting. Thanks anon.
Try also The Climber by the same author.
I finished Sumire 16, had it on my backlog for a while.
Was well worth it, that ending really moved me.
If anyone's interested a kind anon said he's going to scan this this week and post in a thread. Just letting you know.
I want one too
it will turn to shit, but it will be shit about my favorite medium.
directly from the scanlator via Mangaupdates
by the volume using Mangatraders
>If neither works
read it on Batoto
>If very old translated manga
torrent using bakabt
>If they don't have it
Buy it on Amazon
>If all else fails
>if that fails
That is exciting news, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
>>if that fails
true answer is wait for it until it gets out
thing is there are some scanlations by scanlators who died years ago and thus said scanlations are no where else on the internet. It's on mangafox BECAUSE they just don't give a damn (which is why no one likes them).
As if god himself wanted to mess with me
Don't worry, he's joking, mangafox has absolutely zero content that you can't find somewhere else in better quality.
Seriously? Got an example?
only twice this has happened to me
one was Judas from the mangaka of SnO though even I dropped it because I just couldn't stand the MF quality.
The other was the precursor to Outlaw Star called Future-Retro Hero Story
I will make finding that without mangafox my life mission
Well that sucks.
But just so you know it's also on mangapark, without a watermark.
>Future-Retro Hero Story
TnSk is hilarious and I love it. The anime is also a pretty faithful adaptation.
Yokoi is a goddess
meh beggars can't be choosers
hope you're trolling
Made by the same guy that did Binbougami-ga. Only up to chapter 3 though.
I like this at the moment.
Finally getting around reading up on Berserk. I'm surprised at the decision of continuing with the comic relief that was in the prologue after all that shit that went down in the Golden Age. Rape and torture on one page, happy kawaii shota fairy on the other.
4000+ pages to go ;..;
I did the exact same thing for something that Hox mentioned a while back. Kaeri Michi. Managed to find it on some random FTP.
you could always buy the tanks
Just finished pic related. It was good.
Anyone read Baki? I'm wondering why the first series is not fully translated while the second is. Can I start from the second?
>read through whole thread
>no mention of glorious World Trigger
For something in Jump, it's pretty great. It's refreshing to not have a broken main character.
New chapters soon.
Yeah it's pretty good. I'm happy that it's not languishing in the bottom 5 any more. Too bad the author broke his arm though.
I'll look at Bakuon and consider translating a chapter or two. If you can link raws that are better than public raws (if there are any public raws).
If you have any, link raws that are better than public raws*
These all work, slow as hell though.
While I'm caught up with it when's volume 13 of Punpun going to be finished? I'm at volume 10 and I'll finish volume 12 by the end of the week at my very slowest.
I just finished Part 2 of Zero and all I gotta say is I can't wait for Part 3.
Gonna read Ten next.
Boku no Punpun translated it. Hox hasn't yet.
I am a relative newfaggot to manga/anime/Nippon shit, so please be gentle.
Anyways, reading Hayate the Combat butler. I'm also waiting for scanalation updates on Beelzebub, Kingdom, The World God Only Knows, and a couple Manhwas.
Stopped reading Kenichi halfway through. Dunno why.
Hayate is pretty funny insofar.
>dat tentacle raep
Ten is FKMT's best. It's underrated because nobody has read it. The last three volumes are amazing.
Zero 2 was kind of dissappointing, but Part 3 should be glorious.
Had no idea, I'll have to grab it right away.
I agree but I still loved the fuck out of Zero 2. Part 3 should be the best part if all goes to plan.
Anyone know that new manga illustrated by the author of Air Gear?
I forgot its name. Is it still going?
I want to read Punpun, but last time i stopped i was feeling so depressed
You've got more than enough information to find out yourself, just sayin.
Both Sengoku Youko and Spirit Chalmers > Samidare
Don't get me wrong, it was fun. But the last arc felt out of place and reading it while it was publishing was hell because I couldn't remember everything.
Is it a good translation?
You're starting off with some really generic garbage, even within their genre
Hox said he'd have it out by the 31st.
See I read it in a few sittings and everything made sense and added up. Give it a reread once part 3 starts coming out.
Hey now, it's not like he could just google Air Gear, get the author's name and find out instantly.
Hayate is great, marathoning it will soften the blow of Doujin Namek Hell.
The last two volumes are the worst. I thought it couldn't get worse, but oh boy it did.
I'm not saying it didn't make sense, it's just FKMT isn't a mystery writer, that's why it felt out of place.
Do you mind uploading it to mediafire?
I recently finished Ten, even though those last three volumes were glorious, I'd still say Kurosawa is better. But it's all FKMT, so it's all amazing.
Have you read Seizon - Life
I finished Rozen Maiden, and I am absolutely pissed off at the ending. Fucking Peach-Pit.
Kurosawa is overrated in my opinion. It was great, but his "death" wasn't put too much emphasis on as it should have.
And the emotional impact is gone now that there will be a sequel and he isn't dead.
I think I uploaded it to a couple places. It should be on Mangatraders and somewhere on Hox's blog.
I didn't really like Seizon LIfe. It felt extremely anti-climatic.
What did you expect, my child?
I have had it on my backlog for over two years, I'll read it after I finish Rurouni Kenshin.
Thanks, I found it.
Ahh, misread your post. As I said part 1 was better but it was fun to see him try something different, even if it wasn't his best.
I agree with it being overrated, but it's still fantastic. It didn't have as much impact on me as it did for others. That being said it didn't need a sequel, but I'm wondering what's going to happen.
For them to write, for the first time in their lives, a conclusive ending. Tale 65 was the perfect set-up for one. It's not like their stories were terrible either, I loved Shugo Chara, but their endings are just always terrible.
I wonder if they'll break that streak with Kingyozaka Noboru.
Prison School. It's entertaining, over the top, and totally insane.
Then recommendations, nigga! I've just been reading random shit.
Insanity: reading Peach-Pit over and over again and expecting different results.
Ten's last volumes had a lot of more impact in my opinion. I hope you like it, more people should read it.
Beelzebub is great. It never takes itself very seriously, and it goes back to being a gag inbetween big arcs.
Read the thread.
But their characters are just so lovable.
I recommend you the works by Suu Minazuki.
I picked up that yuri manga Citrus today out of boredom.
This plot is ridiculously dumb. I'd wonder why it's so damned popular except that the romantic pairing is actually really hot.
How are you measuring its popularity?
> pick up stupid ecchi harem manga
> drop after 15~ chapters because it's stupid and not clicking
> read later that the series became insanely grimdark, is near ending, and several members of the cast die
Well, I'm glad I wasn't interested in that piece of shit then.
Yurifags keep mentioning it here.
It has a very high rating on BU and MAL.
Yuri Project seems to think highly of it
I saw a dragons rioting thread recently, anyone know if it's worth a read? Looks to me just like cowtits duking it out at school, and I already read tenjou tenge.
It's very fun. I had thought it would be dumb fanservice, but there's more to it.
I concede that the crows staircase was nice.
It's utterly terrible and pretty downright typical shit. I wouldn't think so highly of yurifags.
Oh, I bothered to finally catch up in Koe no Katachi to where FwPA is at.
Shit was pretty great until they've started to build up this angle with Ueno. Well, let's see where it goes. I want my awkward guilty ex-bully ex-bullied deaf romance.
After reading the Girl Friends masterpiece, and thinking that everything else can be only worse, I tend to agree with you.
Girl Friends is pretty much the ideal conception to me of a girl-girl-romance story.
Everything else I've yet tried, even the stuff I generally really liked, like Sasameki Koto and Ebisu-san to Hotei-san, had problems.
i wasn't into this before, but i need more gender bender stuff now. crossdressing don't count.
I've read 7 chapters of this and I'm not getting why everyone blows it so much. Does it suddenly get better or something?
Been reading Monster
I found a guy's LJ of collection of real life counterparts to the locations in Monster
Maybe I should plan a Monster tour when I go to Germany in the summer
I don't understand it either. And not just with The Gamer, but with all Korean webtoons.
They've all been mediocre.
The only webtoon I've ever really liked was Annarasumanara or maybe Regarding Death. As being cited as original or different, they really aren't. Or at least, not any more so than manga.
Pretty good for having majority of the characters being cowtits.
Just another faggots opinion, but I enjoy it.
I didn't like the anime.
Just caught up with Liar Game, 12 Beast, and Nanatsu no Taizai and I want more of those. All are fantastic.
Currently I'm looking to find something to read.
I tried giving manhwa a few tries, but everything about it turns me off super-quick.
Especially the romance writing.
It doesn't help that the genres are limited to the kinds of things I tend to hate...stupid, violent shounen and borderline porn harems.
I am loving Nanatsu no Taizai. Each chapter leaves me wanting more which I doesn't happen often with weekly manga. I love he is planning ahead in the story and how the scale seems to be steadily growing.
And the art is amazing. Especially the character designs and backgrounds. It's even more amazing that the only assistant he has is his wife.
There is only sadness that awaits you.
Perhaps you might explain to me what's going on here. How does manliness relate to watermelons?
Whoa there, that is a pretty bold claim there. I hate to say it, but Sengoku Youko hasn't been very good recently. The current arc just isn't nearly as good as the others. I don't even look forward to reading it anymore. Samidare, on the other hand, only got better and better as it went on. And for Spirit Circle, I think it had a lot of potential, but it is still too early to compare it to either Samidare or Sengoku Youko.
It's not manliness so much as the way she's standing and not covering her body in a cutesy way, and not highlighting her embarrassment. It's "manly" to her because she isn't being girly and typically cute, but looking cool. So cool = manly and cute/embarrassed = girly.
I still don't think Samidare is a masterpiece or even the best thing he's written, seems to be overrated and now board nostalgia on a scale like MxO possesses the fans.
Honestly I don't think Mx0 can be helped, with it being cancelled and all. I still really don't get the huge fascination Samidare though. It's remarkably unexceptional.
I hope I can see the endings of Berserk and HxH in my lifetime.
How's my chance?
Berserk will end, Miura is over half way through the story (confirmed as of 3 years ago or so?) and you know he planned everything pretty damn well.
HxH, I expect Togashi will die. Whether he has manuscripts left for another author to pick up... I'm dubious of.
>Thinks plural of manga is "mangas"
I wish HnS was published in my country.
Well, SnK was licenced by one publisher recenlty, I'm surprised it took them so long.
I'm not really actively reading anything at the moment, Just waiting around for more Dorohedoro and Pun Pun. I guess I am reading Jojolion chapters as they come out, but besides that there's not really anything that's caught my interest recently. I guess I prefer finished series because I'm just too impatient.
I'm not even sure myself why I like it. It's not really anything special and you can really tell that the story wasn't planned out because the premise of what the antagonist is/wants changes drastically from the beginning of the series. It kust felt really unorganized to me.
But I still keep going back to reread it. Just something about it feels magical and nostalgic to me. It's kind of the same vibe I get from FLCL or when I listen to Les Rallizes Denudes or the Pillows.
I just don't get it. Maybe it's the antidepressants.
Well, Hoshi No Samidare is nowhere near the caliber of Berserk.
It's a decent manga with some likable supporting cast and shitty MCs. I really wouldn't say it's a must read in any way.
Shitty taste thread is still up I see.
And what are YOU currently reading?
I feel a lot better about dropping Hoshi no Samidare now.
Don't be a faggot and finish reading.
haven't watched the anime, but the manga is pretty good for a sol.
pic related is best grill
I read some more volumes yesterday, and yes, it's that manga.
Catching up on Hentai Ouji. As much as I am ambivalent on the series, Tsukiko is so goddamned moe.
I don't know what to read next. I like soft, motherly, femdom, it's a guilty pleasure, kind of like fire witch in WCW. But it seems like such a niche.
any detailed medical manga? I read that cheesy Team Medical Dragon and Jin and I want more'
I am also sucker for Groundhog day scenrios like Again!! and others but I seem to gone through most of them
