>tfw there will never be a manga better than Berserk
>tfw the maker is going to die before it's over.
hold me /a/
Posting some more excellent panels out of sadness
This fucking scene was so great. Can't wait till it gets butchered by the shitty CGI of the movie.
Miura made too many characters to defeat, too many side stories. Berserk is only 40% done at this rate.
You're probably right.
He built the foundations for one of the greatest tales of all time but won't live to finish construction
How many times have you guys reread it if at all?
I actually hated berserk.
6 times now.
I only actually read it for the first time a month ago.
I got through all of it in 2 days.
Went to work, did business as fast as I could, got breaks and read the shit as fast as possible.
Oh, I guess it's not your taste.
Mind explaining why? Don't like the setting?
Probably 5-6 times. I have the Dark Horse translations.
My local book shop has the first few volumes of DH but they are like £40
I have to respectfully disagree. The best manga imo is probably the Koe no Katachi Oneshot.
Koe no Katachi is good and I love how it tells stories most people wouldn't be willing to tell but I don't think it reaches the same level of Berserk, mostly because Berserk for me ticks every single box for how much I like a manga, 10/10.
The Art, the Characters, the Setting, The Pace, The Character Development, all of which are spot on in Berserk better than I have seen in anything else. The character dynamics and the writing are so fantastic.
Miura really puts in an amazing amount of effort into drawing the scenery.
Is the story really good and engaging or just the ART?
I'm actually looking for a good manga to read. The one page thread is so useless.
It's one of the greatest manga stories ever told.
It's genuinely amazing, nothing has provoked stronger emotions in me ever before.
Gets off to a blister start then slows down for a bit so you can learn about the characters and what they have been through
The story is great. You'll love it for sure.
All he has to do is defeat grifon
The way he draws makes it seem like a complete world, not just the story of Guts and the Gang.
But right now, Gut's isn't even on a level where he can touch Griffith, and the way Berserk works, he's not getting any Shoujen power boost just in time for special battles.
Also Griffith isn't even a bad guy anymore. Infact if we are being honest at this point Guts is doing worse for Humanity than Griffith is, looking at a Utilitarian Standpoint
I'm a straight male and during the scene with the waterfall with Casca and Guts I just wanted to be in Casca's place in his arms.
That sounds super gay writing that out.
Yea dude that's gay.
But that's fine.
>But right now, Gut's isn't even on a level where he can touch Griffith, and the way Berserk works, he's not getting any Shoujen power boost just in time for special battles.
Reading this, I feel like berserk cannot be ended in 20-30 years
>I'm a straight male
Not anymore you aren't. But you can be a little girl instead.
I really hope we get a Satisfying ending. I really do. Someone get a fucking Bethelit to Muira so he can become immortal so he can finish the series.
i wish to be the little dubs
I think I should start having regular workout so I can stay alive for next several decades
The only thing that would be able to make you live until the end of Berserk with Cyrogenics
Like 8 times, but specifically the golden age like 20 times
Griffith a slut
You totally would a Griffith
I like Golden Age but I totally love Black Swordsman and beyond.
If Miura dies who will continue Berserk?
Stop making Berserk threads when there is nothing new to reminisce about or talk about and it only serves as a painful reminder of the hiatuses.
You're not alleviating the pain, only making it worse.
I'l do it Anon.
I'm gunna carry that weight
>on chapter 200
>too scared to read it because of hiatus
>it just sits there staring at me
I want more adventures but i can't handle hiatus's
These threads are like AA meetings to me
Better question is how many manga OP has read. Berserk has been mediocre shortly after inquisition arc.
Reminder that they're never getting off that boat
Just keep reading on Anon, It's fine, Haitus isn't that long
I want to get off mr rodericks wild ride
If i like Otoyomegatari will I like Berserk? They both have beautiful art.
I absolutely fucking love the golden age, favorite arc in any manga by fucking far
>Those goddamn character introductions
>That fucking character development HNNGG
>Those fucking army battles
>These goddamn apostle fights
>Fucking ECLIPSE OH MY GOD
Araki, he's got the time.
But it's so depressing
Inspired by Guin Saga but will it suffer the same fate?
Keep reading, the Hiatus doesn't begin in the middle of anything specifically important happening, like the middle of a conflict or anything.
>will I like Berserk?
That's all I have to read to answer: yes
Well that's another great thing, you tons of different feelings when reading trough it
fuck I had completely forgotten about Guin Saga
I`m certain I`d love Berserk, but I`ve been putting it off because I hear the wait for new chapters is so agonizing. Is there a good place to stop reading? For example, in The Ravages of Time I haven`t read past Lu Bu`s death. Does that even count as a spoiler, considering it happened 1800 years ago?
nope too slutty
Well you got it, but that's not going to fly here.
Try again somewhere else.
But there are lots of mangas better than berserk. Try Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. After all, if Berserk was better it wouldn't be on hiatus so much. The only thing worse must be hunter x hunter since that's on hiatus even more.
I just recently got into Berserk so I like the threads.
I'm on volume 31 right now and I have to ask... is it going to focus more on Guts and Griffith again soon? So many distracting side characters...
Why doesn't Araki just spread his magic to Miura?
The stone mask was smashed, bro. Do you want to deal with pillarmen to get another one?
... So no comment on the plot itself, but going off of these, does the other get better at positioning and anatomy eventually?
Or buy a fucking wirewood art doll so he can see what he's actually trying to fucking draw?
Berserk 334 when?
There are actually quite a few mangas better than Berserk. Not many in total, but definitely more than 1.
This is /a/
You're not allowed to point out the fact that Miura can't into perspective or anatomy.
Although I've been saying he's overrated for years and that Samura is much better.
Seven or eight times. I read it a bunch of times when DH hadn't caught up yet and released them fairly regularly, and now I reread it whenever I get a new volume.
I want to get into Berserk, should I watch the anime first or vice versa?
What's wrong with these?
No manga artist does better crosshatching than Miura
Read the manga first, then either the anime or the movies if you want to. The manga has the most detail and the best presentation of the story overall with the anime/movies basically just being for the fans that want to see it again in different formats.
Inoue is at least as good at that.
I've only ever watched anime, so how do I into manga in general? Where do you read it, and how do you know when there's a new chapter?
Too bad he can't be fucked to keep his lines clean unless he's drawing certain unpleasant situations.
He has to know anatomy in order to draw his guro/ryona well
>tfw I'm a pleb who can't into art
I wish I could quantify manga art beyond "this one is more detailed than that one".
It depends on what you're looking for, really. Berserk is one of the top of its genre (dark fantasy/battle), but what about other genres? The art is outstanding but I recall that Ubel Blatt, Blame, I am a Hero, Ressentiment, 13 Club (also Prison School, but it's almost exclusively used for fanservice) all have art that's outstanding in its own ways. Parasyte was far more emotional for me than Berserk ever was. It's really just personal taste after a certain point, though like I mentioned, I wish I could into art so I could better know what that point is.
No he isn't
BakaBT has the whole thing (get the "scanlations" one), or you can just buy them. As for when a new one comes out, I actually wasn't reading Berserk before the latest update... I assume BakaBT stays up to date, or mangasee.
What chapter is this from? I don't remember this at all
>BakaBT has the whole thing (get the "scanlations" one)
Ignore this man.
You don't want shitty Hawk Scans.
Here's the DH scans scans V1-25.
that's the thing, I don't have the kind of money to buy all the volumes, and reading them on a computer screen doesn't sound very appealing to me.
Looks about V27 or something.
He just got the armor.
buy him a guts figma
Any chance you have 26-37 too?
>manga in general
All manga or just Berserk?
Wh-what hapened to that?
Guin saga author died before finishing it
I know where the uncleaned and uncropped scans are, which is Kickthekitty.
I think the BakaBT torrent has V31-36 in DH and EG scans.
Was that fight when the witch's house was burning down?
With Grunbeld aka Crystal Dragon Jesus.
I just want Guts to fight a for-real dragon with the Dragonslayer. Is that too much to ask?
You make a good point.
Different genres and tastes dictate preference. Personally, I find things such as Gintama or One-Punch Man to be more of my taste, but Berserk will always fulfill a part of my fantasy niche. I like it for that and the art, but my preference for comedy and sci-fi is just a few notches higher than grimdark fantasy.
Fuck man, but i was told that was still going, did his son took over or what's going on?
>sketchy (read: incomplete) artwork
You have a few options.
You can manually go on scanlators' websites and check for releases (you can find the scanlators' names by typing "[series name] mangaupdates" on Google). Or you could go on a manga aggregator. The only non-shit aggregator to my knowledge is Batoto; most others put shitty watermarks on the manga or somehow manage to fuck up the quality.
If you read a lot of series and can't be bothered to manually keep track of all of them, make a MangaUpdates account. You can hit the "add to reading list" button on MU, and it'll automatically tell you when a scanlator has released a new chapter for that particular manga. It also makes it easy to keep track of which manga you finished, as well as separate the manga you've read into different categories (for example, you could have a "favorites" category or "one-shots" category). The only downside is that once you've found out about an update, you'll have to type the scanlation's group's name on Google or look on batoto for the actual chapter though, since MU had to remove links due to piracy concerns.
As far as downloading manga, there's the scanlators' websites and/or their IRC (but that's a whole 'nother tutorial) and there's mangatraders which lets you download multiple series on the same website. Sometimes you have to look for specific mediafire archives to find good quality scans of certain manga. For example, the Onizuka scans on Batoto and mangatraders are utter shit but you can find a mediafire of the good scans somewhere in the /a/ archives.
Oh yeah, and there's also deadfrog and bakabt for manga torrents. I've never really used either though; mangaupdates + batoto is usually good enough for me.
We can't get a new chapter, and you want him fighting a dragon?
You can more than easily understand how difficult that is, apply thyself a German suplex anon.
By far the most epic scene of that entire arc is the next morning when Casca and friends are running through the forest gazing at the whole floor covered in corpses, and following the path set by the bodies until they reach a big tree in an open spot completely surrounded by corpses, with Gutts' body resting against its trunk. Looking dead.
And lastly, get greasemonkey and the webcomic reader script if you're going to be reading manga online. If you're going to read it on your computer, Honeyview or Comicrack are the way to go on Windows, mComix or YacReader for Linux. I've never used OS X so you're on your own there.
Happy manga reading.
>The only non-shit aggregator to my knowledge is Batoto
>Vertical and horizontal ads (that leave white space when removed through adblock)
I actually have a portrait monitor capable of viewing an entire page onscreen at once. But those ads force downscaling
Broken scroll click functionality, comments page at the end.
Super compressed images
My vote goes to manga.animea
I hope I wasn't the only one getting a hardon at the women being raped by trolls until they were dead or discarded like trash down the cliff to be eaten by monsters of the forest floor
I can off the top of my head think of three manga better than Berserk. It's in my top 10, but doesn't breach the top 5.
Mangameeya is the only way to go on windows.
You need the folder tree and other navigation methods to traverse non alphabetical file structures, like those produced by bakabt.
Is it downscaled even if you use something like Webcomic Reader though? I sometimes find the pages to be really big regardless, and I'm not talking about regular pages not just two page spreads (two page spread example was just easiest to find).
If what you say is true, I'll happily switch over though. My loyalty lies more with the scanlators than it does with batoto.
I'm talking about regular pages as well, not just two page spreads*
>implying guts isn't going to confront griffith and be forced to use the behelit.
>implying he won't power up n becoming a berserking beast that needs to be put down by the rest of the gang.
if it doesnt end in a similarily dark way, miura is a cunt.
>be forced to use the behelit.
You don't understand how that works, huh?
Isn't he working on some science fiction manga right now?
I read some while ago, that he'll wrap that up and supposedly return to berserk.
Whenever the fuck that is.
Both normal and minimalistic grab the full size image.
Normal (falsely) retains the "this was resized" message.
Normal without adblock moves adds to the bottom of the page, though because you can change image scale settings to ignore the wasted screen real estate it can be ignored.
Can't scroll click, but if the preloader is good enough then that isn't a problem (I left it there sitting for quite a while and it only loaded three pages, so it could go either way).
Will use for now.
Whats wrong with the Hawk scans?
Basically html has some default functionality built into buttons and links and such. It binds scroll click to open in new tab.
Mangafox, instead of making an image also a link to the next page, each image is a button that runs a script. This script scales the image to window size on the first click, full size on the second.
As the script is not redirecting you to another page (the change only happens on your computer, not the server) there is no (next page) link associated with the image, and therefore, the scroll click.
Just a few lines of code would restore scroll click functionality, however nobody uses it anyway, so it gets blatantly ignored.
LAY TO WASTE
>Berserk will never get another chapter
I actually liked the movies, I don't get why so many people hate it.
CGI was a little annoying but whatever.
So why the fuck are the Dark Horse editions fucking impossible to get a hold of? It's probably the most popular manga ever. Aside from maybe the big 3. Why won't they do another fucking printing? Also, have a wallpaper
This is what he's working on now.
