Fate/stay Night has a flawed philosophy of what it means to be a hero. Through the story the characters say Shirou that he doesn't love himself because of him wanting to protect others. A hero CAN be without love for himself but that is not a necessity of a hero. Putting others before yourself doesn't mean you don't love yourself. Shirou is the only noble person in Fate/stay Night. The others are selfish assholes who wouldn't do anything for someone other than themselves.

Also, a hero isn't a someone who can save everyone. That is a childish definition of the concept. A hero is someone who thorugh his deeds, no matter how small they may be, inspires good in others.

Somehow I can kind of see Shirou as a sandwhich.

I don't really think those two points are related.

>Also, a hero isn't a someone who can save everyone. That is a childish definition of the concept
That's kinda the point.

You're missing the point. Shirou's 'hero' isn't mythical heroes but Kamen Rider bullshit.
