Would you recommend Baccano! to someone who's only other foray into the world of animu and manga was the typical Trigun and Bleach, AKA my little brother?
>>
yes. Yes. YES!
>>
I'd recommend Bacanno to anyone.
>>
Unless he's a really little brother, I'd recommend Black Lagoon
>>
>>10092214
Well he's not that little, he's 15. I don't think he gives a shit about blood and such, infact being a 15 year old I'd probably say he welcomes it.
>>
Seeing as it's one of the more westernized anime out there I would recommend it to anybody. Even people who hate the genre.
>>
I'd recommend Baccano! to someone who outspokenly hated anime and everything it stood for.
>>
>>10092194

That depends how old he is. Because of the unusual storytelling method it takes some patience to get into and you really have to pay close attention to the time periods.

But yeah, I'd have him try at least the first 3 or 4 episodes.
>>
no. Too Deep.

Well, not really.

Just force that little bastard to watch
>>
>>10092223
>>
>>10092194
>my little brother

Boku no Pico would be more appropriate, Onii-chan
>>
Only if he's mature enough to appreciate its worth, creative-concept and design, which he probably won't if he's been watching Bleach.

He was reading the manga up until volume 6, when he declared he was 'sick of this stupid shit'.
>>
>>10092235
Yeah, go for it
>>
>>10092324
>he declared he was 'sick of this stupid shit'.
Yes, he's definitely going to be able to handle it.
Is he an artfag like me? Because that might be part of the reason I imbue the series with so much worth.
>>
>>10092280
FUCKING SECONDED.

In terms of Powerlevels, Baccano is anon level, where as it seems your brother is still at beginner/apprentice level. It might be too big of a leap for him. But if what you say is true and he does want to "level up", seriously guage his intelligence and opinions about art and shit before showing it to him.

Again, >>10092280
>>
>>10092370
I'm an artfag like you
>>
>>10092370
Art fags do not like Baccano. You are not an artfag. You are just a typical /a/ faggot.

>>10092380
You too.

ITT ELITISTS

>>10092235
>15
This was about the age I started watching Fullmetal Alchemist, and was completely able to enjoy it.
In my opinion, you might want to consider suggesting that to him first, since the jump from mind-numbingly stupid Bleach to confusing as shit but awesome Baccano! might be a bit of a quality and narrative jump and won't allow him to appreciate Baccano! for all it's worth. Fullmetal Alchemist seems like a nice medium-rider anime for his next step into stuff that isn't shit.
>>
Too shallow for me.
>>
>>10092411
You want fucking art? Go watch Kigeki.

This shit is not art. Its just typical anime that happens to be obscure enough for /a/ to circlejerk over.
>>
>>10092380
Are you the OP?
>>
I wish more people knew about Bacanno.
>>
>>10092498
no
>>10092473
itt we name obscure movies and call them art
>>
>>10092370
I wouldn't say he is an artfag, but he is able to appreciate something like that I think. He's pretty mature for his age, but he does still have some trappings of the early teenager.
>>
>>10092473
>Kigeki
That's not coming up on Wikipedia, but I'm going to go ahead and guess it's another CRAZY-LOOKING animation style like Mind Game that allows elitists to say anything that's unique or unusual is automatically good, and things like Baccano!, Clannad and the like are COMPLETELY DEVOID OF "ART" because they're main-steam and not screamingly unrealistic or unusual in their art-style.
>>
Artfags prefer Dennou Coil or Gurren-Lagann to Baccano.
>>
>>10092526
See >>10092423
>>
>>10092595
Or Mononoke. Baccano isn't really anything special in the art department.
>>
>>10092504
Are you sure you want Gaiafags and devianttards schreeching about how "Firo is their bishie" and drawing pictures of Luck having kawaii sex with Berga and Keith?
>>
>>10092607

Never go to LiveJournal.

Hint: Those girls already exist.

Unique =/= Good, as far as art is concearned.
Baccano! may not have had a ZOMG CRAZY art-style or have looked ZOMG UNLIKE ANY THING OR STYLE WE'VE EVER SEEN BEFORE, but it was well done and had exceptionally good animation, with vibrant, expressive characters, graphic violence and smooth, eye-enthrealling action-scenes.

I FEEL LIKE THAT GUY IN THAT LOVECRAFT STORY WHO FINDS OUT ABOUT THE INTERDIMENSIONAL JELLYFISH AND KILLS HIMSELF!!!

You don't even need to go to LJ. Just browse AnimeSuki's Baccano thread.
>>
>>10092729
that's even worse than livejournal
>>
shit ended too soon and had lots of lose ends

i'd give it a 7/10 if only for isaac and miria
>>
>>10092662
You have lost your god damn mind. Baccano wasn`t even the 7th best artistic work of 07.

And that `exceptionally good animation` is not exceptionally good at all, which is why it didn`t even get recognition.
>>
>>10092792
What's wrong? Not WEEABOO enough for you?

Seconded. That was my only problem with it.
We got almost NO background on characters like Niece and Jacuzzi, even to why their faces were fucked up.
Speaking of which, Jacuzzi is moe.
>>
>>10092662
>had exceptionally good animation
You're thinking of Denno Coil. Baccano was nowhere near Denno Coil.
>>
>>10092842
Didn't they say they went to a tattoo parlor together and Jacuzzi got his tattoo? I don't know what happened to Nice though, I wish I could read the books.
>>
>>10092865

Nothing was anywhere near Dennou Coil. Mononoke was the more creative, Dennou Coil the more technically accomplished, Gurren-Lagann the in-between.
>>
>>10092617
>>10092729
Not even, half the threads on /a/ about Baccano were filled with fangirlism. It's obviously that kind of show.

That said, I liked it enough to watch it all, but didn't think it was very much special. Some people seem to worship it for the sole purpose of having something violent and ostensibly complex that isn't GL to praise. That said, as an entry-level series for a CN viewing 15 year old it'd be great.
>>
>>10092842
It's called the novels, faggot.
>>
>>10092842

Yeah. Though with such a large cast I have to give them credit for making me like almost all the characters and want to know more about them.

By the way, this seems like a good time to ask...

Was Luck the demon? I kinda got that impression at the end of episode 8 when he says "maa ii" just like the demon and also his sneaky attitude in the very last episode. But maybe I'm way off.
>>
EPISODE 14 SUBS FUCKING WHERE!
>>
> Speaking of which, Jacuzzi is a whiny bitch.

Fixed that for ya.
