Why did Cowboy Bebop do so phenomenal in Japan, but nothing else of Watanabe's did?

Why was GT so popular?

Why isn't Patlabor more appreciated despite it being such a high seller. Same for Votoms. Same for Dunbine

Why isn't there a new Macross series?

How did the first FMA do so well?

When will A-1 get it together and make an AnoHana sequel with like 10 years later?

Which is the source for those numbers?

I don't know and I don't care.
I watch anime, I don't have to sell it.

Older sale numbers tend to be sketchy.
Patlabor, Dunbine and Votoms got several sequels

It never was though.

Where are you getting these moronic assumptions? Both franchises still retain popularity, enough to see that they both still appear in various media forms.

Yes it was

Did you notice the gap between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd series?

It does not take a genius to figure it out.

Huh... Votoms and Patlabor got a bunch of sequels and spin offs. Patlabor now is getting a live action movie where they actually build Patlabor props. How are they unappreciated?

Dunbine got a pseudo sequel and it bombed. Also, it's numbers aren't even that high for Sunrise. Look at Gundam X there right bellow it, and it's still often ignored in Gundam related products.
