Who is the best director and mangaka of all times and why is it Hayao Miyazaki?
Even my gf loves him.
Prove me wrong. Name a better one.
>Implying he surpasses Miyazaki in any way
>once my apartment caught on fire and i didn't wake up
Prove me wrong
You're the one who has the burden of proof here.
Too easy to spot, try again a few days from now.
Satoshi Kon. Too bad he's dead now.
>anyone who sees the best as the best must be new
even i agree with OP and i've been here since 2007
Why are trolls the only ones to state this simple fact?
Kon and Oshii are better.
You're right about Kon, though.
Miyazaki frankly sucks as a mangaka.
Even you gf?
I knew he was good but didn't know he was THAT good.
There are far better ones, even young talentes of today.
So OP got NTR'd?
>Even my gf loves him.
/mu/ here, what does he has to do with it?
Too bad he's gone mad with jewery and started making the Rebuilds.
>I didn't like Innocence so all his other movies are bad
His work on Patlabor movie 2 and GiTS 1995 is better than anything Miyazaki has ever done.
I don't know what's going on here
Oshii is generally agreed to be shit. He's literally worse than Miyazaki.
OP's right though.
my fucking sides
Oshii made two great films.Everything other from his is pure and refined shit.
Your gf is a stupid 3D whore that gets fucked by 30 niggers
I was waiting for some sanity to return. I really don't know what's becoming of /a/ these days, over in a sales thread most of the people didn't even know what a Frt was.
Better question : how many anime other than myazaki's have you seen to be able to say something like "the best" ?
I'd bet on "a lot, almost 20 show !"
As much as I fucking love miyazaki, I prefer satoshi kon. I'm absolutly in love with everything the fucker did, millenium actress especially is probably one of my all time favorite movie, anime or not.
Sad thing is this patethic imageboard probably has like 10 people who have watched anything by him other than Grave of the Fireflies.
Buncha fucking casuals.
I thought you guys were joking when you said he constantly says he'll retire and then comes back, promising he'll retire soon once again.
More like worst director that did good early work and has aged badly.
>remake the same film 10 times
>greatest director ever
>implying isao takahata isn't as good if not better than miyazaki
I watched kaguya-hime no monogatari and kaze tachinu both in japan two months ago, and largely prefered kaguya-hime. The art is out of this world.
>coming of age story with a young girl protagonist and environmental message
>make a movie with this format every 2-3 years for 15 years
BEST DIRECTOR EVER
Hosoda has only 3 major movies and yet they're all better than anything Miyazaki has done. Miyazaki is a hack.
Man wolf children was so good.
Takahata can't draw. He's not that much responsible for the art section of his movies, it's more like freelance animators that happen to be the very best in Japan come to helm his movies, whereas Miyazaki overrides everything with his own style (which has been incredibly static and trite ever since Future Boy Conan).
Takahata is GOAT because of his human stories and devotion to the minutiae of life.
Is Yamadas any good?
It's better than almost every Miyazaki.
Most people don't like though because there's no plot, it's supposed to be a "comedy", yet it never tries to make you die of laughter, nor is it over the top like your typical comedy (anime or otherwise). It's more like an amusing, warm and witty look into typical Japanese family routines and dynamics (not to say a lot of what it depicts isn't quite universal)
The best director is Makoto Shinkai. Miyazaki is good but has nothing against Shinkai.
Pom Poko is the most underrated Ghibli. Still not the best (Porco takes that one), but definitely near the top while receiving none of the attention that Mononoke, Kiki and Howl undeservedly get over it. People tend to assume it's a lot less serious and complex then it actually is.
Also, Ikuhara is the better director when working in TV format.
Shinkai's works are boring as fuck. The only thing they have going for them is being very well animated.
Besides the fact Takahata's TV show and Ikuhara's TV shows couldn't possibly be compared by any stretch of the imagination, Takahata made 3 revolutionary TV masterpieces, Ikuhara had a fluke with Utena and only because every other staff member was great.
Miyazaki isn't the best, only the most accessible. He's like the Japanese disney.
It's pretty dumb how this board tries to tell themselves and others Miyazaki isn't top tier.
boo hoo he hates your loli shit, get over it.
>very well animated
Honestly I always start a Miyazaki movie expecting more but either his movies are more pointless than I thought or it just goes over my head most of the time.
Is that Colonel Sanders?
Grave of the Fireflies is shit though
Oh wow, does your gf have some sort of title or position of notoriety that makes her opinion particularly more important and respectable than everybody else's? No? Oh, well sorry to say, but your gf is a stupid whore and I don't give a fuck what she thinks, and her opinion holds absolutely no meaning in regards to anything.
Tezuka. The whole of Japan agrees, don't bother them about it.
Huh? Could you at least try to make sense when you are blatantly trolling?
Shinkai anime have nice visuals, but there's nothing remarkable about the animation.
Well yeah, there's a reason the discussion is focusing on anime films. Discussing the God is a completely moot point, specially since I bet most of /a/ is even more ignorant about classic manga than about modern manga. That said, Go Nagai kicks the ass of almost everything Tezuka did Except for Phoenix, of course and Buddha and I guess Black Jack, too and I really liked MW ....whatever, Devilman fucking rocks anyway
kon, dezaki, yuasa and takahata
