Has there ever been any good shoujo? The only three I can actual read to the end are Fruit Basket, Karekano and Rose of Versailles because they have an actual ending and don't use the retarded girl archetype who can't decide their love interest bullshit.
Why do female authors have so much need to insert themselves into the girls and make those unreadable? (The same goes for harem author).

The main character being relatable increases sales. Blank slates are typically relatable for most people. This is nothing new and certainly not exclusive to anime/manga

Really? Has there EVER been ANY good shoujo? You're seriously asking this?
The answer is yes

Yes, there are many excellent shoujo series.

Immortal Rain and Ouran host club are good. Chihayafuru and Reimei no Arcana are alright.
I don't know if Twelve Kingdoms is considered shoujo, but that was god tier.

There is good shoujo, you just have to sift through a lot of crap to find it.

You should also stay away from it if it looks like a series with no plot other than romance, since those usually turn out to be shit. (Karekano is a very rare exception)

Kimi ni Todoke. The first season, anyway.

It was such a shame that a sweet story about a cute girl turned into the usual stale romantic holding-pattern and misunderstandings bullshit.

I liked Kaichou Wa Maid-sama alot, mostly because of Usui though.

It's kind of unrealistic that every character, man or woman, wants Misaki, yet so few characters go after Usui.

All four Natsume Yuujinchou seasons are highly rated on MAL

Yes.

How would you know if any of the others had an ending if you've only read three of them to the end?

>Why do female authors have so much need to insert themselves into the girls and make those unreadable? (The same goes for harem author).

Not all Shoujo authors do this. But you wouldn't know this since you've only read three of them.

Man, I love Last Game. I wish more of /a/ was reading it.

More seinen.
