As we all know, most anonymi download their animu, or at least a large portion of it. The question is...If you don't buy anime, what the hell else are you going to spend your money on? Anonymous doesn't have friends and never leaves the house.

Even if DVDs cost 30 bucks each, it's not like you're planning to spend that money on a some new clothes to impress the ladies who only exist offline.
>>
you just explained your own question
>>
i don't have any money at all.
>>
I spend my money on food, heat, water, electricity, and cable internet.
>>
It is to be spent on ways to download anime faster and store more. Duh.
>>
I have no money, I've been homeless for awhile now, posting from a library.

I'll start paying for anime when anime starts paying for me.

>>
lol. what money. I am 4k dollars in debt, but have no money.
>>
I spend my money on external hard drives, which I then fill up with free animu
>>
-DVD subtitles look like shit
-Official translations are...not very good
-DVDs take up a lot of space
-I'd have to leave the house
-Buy moe animu in person is embarassing
>>
A lot of us are college students. As much as we love anime, rent, food, gas, books, and tuition come first.

Anime is as they say, a luxury. And we can get it for free and for fast using something we already pay for. End of story. And it's not like the anime companies have enough extra money for legal fees to really stop us.
>>
I spend all my money on bicycle and guitar stuff
>>
I spend my money on other things that I could get for free, like sex.
>>

That Bebop set isn't too bad, it's $40 on Amazon. I was thinking about picking it up sometime. I have Bebop, but it's a bootleg (bought on eBay before I knew any better).

I will buy stuff I really like, but I refuse to pay more than $10-15 for a few episodes. Usually I'll just wait for a good boxset to come out.
>>
>>10087380

1 500gb WD external HDD can cost under $120. If you bought a 6 volume show at $20 per volume, you're looking at the same price. That HDD can not only hold that show, bot at least another 50 of the same size.
>>
>>10087398
Exactly.
>>
TV, internets, and a 1024MB lunix VPN.
video games. :<
food. electricity. gas.
computer shit, clothes, guitar stuff.

that's about all I can afford to pay for with a shitty $15/hr job. I couldn't buy animu if I wanted to.
>>
>>10087459

It's my favorite debate subject.
>>
>>10087322

>>If you don't buy anime, what the hell else are you going to spend your money on?

Animu figures, the body pillows, whatever makes us feel less ronery.
>>
>>10087459

Might I add,

YOU wa SHOCK
>>
>>10087425
YOU are not allowed to talk about this subject any more.

GET ON AIM FAGGOT IM SICK OF TELLIN YOU ON /a/ IT'S NOT THE PLACE FOR IT
>>
Maybe when we're all successful attractive rich business men like Zac the Answerman, we'll start paying for anime. Why am I coughing up blood?

IT'S NOT LIKE THIS OLD LADY CAN OUTRUN US, THAT MEANS WE CAN TAKE HER TV USING THE SHOES WE ALREADY PAID FOR

YES, PERFECT ANALOGOUS EXAMPLE USING A PHYSICAL OBJECT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
>>
>>10087322

I do pay for anime. Just today I picked up Simoun disc 2 and the Cowboy Bebop Remix complete collection. Last week I picked up the fourth season of Ranma 1/2, Galaxy Railways and the second box of Tekkaman Blade. A bit before that, I picked up Ranma's third season, Noein and the second box of Twelve Kingdoms and Karas. That was a bit more than I usually buy, but I had gift cards from Christmas to burn. Normally I'll buy 1-2 discs at a time or a single cheap box set every now and then.
>>
>>10087499
That's exactly the way it should be in an ideal world.

All these laws and regulations are crippling our genepool.
>>
>>10087504

Uh oh, JOBFAG detected
>>
The real problem is a majority of anime, especially the easier it's become to produce it, is really just shit.
>>
My main problem with buy anime, comics, manga, and games is I hate having to figure out where to store them.
>>
>>10087322
why pay for something you can get for free?
it's also the convieniece of not having to leave campus or order online.

plus I'm poor as shit right now
>>
It costs money. Not spending money at all > Spending money on new clothes to impress the ladies who only exist offline > Spending money on stuff we can get for free.
>>
>>10087349
>I spend my money on food, heat, water, electricity, and cable internet.
2nd'd. If I ever have more than the necessities, I probably still wouldn't buy anime as the anime in stores is aimed at little kids, not adults.
>>
Not all of us are people who leech off their parents.
>>
>>10087499
This analogy fails because of multiple reasons. But the most important reason it fails, is that if given the chance, most of us would steal a nice TV if there were no repercussions. And since there are none for stealing anime (well like .0001% of any) then stealing is going to happen.

If you saw a $5000 HDTV sitting in someones driveway, and you KNEW that you could steal it and NEVER have to get in trouble for it, would you not do it? FUCK YEAH YOU WOULD.
>>
>>10087627

Sure you can steal a HDTV for free, but I hate when people cite this example. Stealing a TV is hard to go, as it's a large physical object, not a piece of property that actually doesn't exist.
>>
My other example is this: I might like to see a movie on TV every now and again, but I still wouldn't want to go out and own it as I feel it's not worthing owning. Same goes for most anime. There's a very small stuff I plan to buy soon, like Twelve Kingdoms, Berserk, Golden Boy, some others.
>>
>>10087841
Exactly. I'm regarding downloading animu more like a substitute for watching tv not for buying dvds.
>>
>>10087680

Like Clannad. lolol
>>
>>10087895

Then what would you suggest I buy?
>>
>>10087841
It's a good thing you don't buy anime, as you have awful taste.
>>
>If you don't buy anime, what the hell else are you going to spend your money on? Anonymous doesn't have friends and never leaves the house.

I spend it on beer, to kill the loneliness.

Lucky Star and NGE and Pani Poni Dash.
I'd buy the boxed set of all 52 episodes of Hayate-kun, if they were available too.
>>
>>10087925
You should use antidepressants instead.
>>
>>10087925
Here in the Netherlands, you can spend it on the whores instead. They're legal and they pay taxes.
>>
>>10087322
>>Anonymous doesn't have friends and never leaves the house.

So where would anon get money form then???
>>
Despite all the shit about accurate translations, dubs, font sizes, etc. the main importance of fansubs: TIME

If we were all anti-fansubs, we'd be waiting 10-14 months at the very least to get a R1 distribution. Who's to say a show even gets licensed? If some faggots want to be more like the Japanese by paying for BVUSA prices, why don't they also watch the shows like the Japanese close to the same time?
>>
>>10088010
Mom and Dad.
>>
>>10087955
Good beer tastes better. It has to be good of course.
>>
I be savin up for a car. Plus I can't understands moonspeaks, and refuse to wait for the dubs. So, fansubs are my fastest way to see anime. I don't rewatch anime anyway, having a permanent collection just seems useless to me. Though...I suppose I should buy a few animes I liked previously.
>>
>>10087322
well anon has to actually pay for the house you know.
>>
when the DVD is actually worth the 30 bucks ill buy it.

Seeing as how i can buy a movie on dvd for 15$ which has a higher budget than most anime shows do in their entire series, let alone the 2-3 eps you get on 1 disc, I don't see that happening any time soon....
>>
Most of my money goes on cheap(ish) music hardware.
>>
>>10088047
Cars depreciate over time and you have to buy another one sooner or later. This locks you into a never-ending cycle of saving money for a car. Don't do it Anon!

Buy something with real value. Property is a good bet. Precious metals another.
>>
>>10088081

They always bitch about "BAAAWWW BUT THOSE MOVIES ALREADY MADE DER MONIES WITH RELEASE DURR DURR" Yeah? Who cares. It's not as if they're different products like rubies and emeralds. They're both DVDs worth jack shit.

I spend money on maintaining a large vat of gelatin, in the hope it will turn into a gelatinous cube and kill me.

;_;

I've never bought a dvd (including anime merchandise), music, cd, psp, ds, and pc game in my entire life. Why buy crap you can get for free? Invest the cash instead.

I spent my money on a trip to Japan instead. I brought nothing home except for fond memories. (Not even an STD or two. ;_;)
>>
FOOD AND RENT motherfuckers. That's what people in the real world spend their money on.
>>
I buy DVDs, but only at cheap prices. Even then, I watch my money carefully.

That's how I've slowly been accumulating Mai-Otome, Genshiken, etc.

>>
I don't spend my money on anything. I live in an apartment, that have nothing in it. The living room has my computer, a sleeping bag and seven card board boxes. I bought a DS on a whim but I rarely play it anymore. My kitchen has the stuff I need to cook. but otherwise my apartment is empty. I spend my days at the computer or sometimes going outside when I get this feeling that I just have to get out of this place. I have over eight grand in my bank account and besides my bills and food, I can't think of anything I want to spend it on.
>>
>>10088256
Thanks, I like eating good food and living in a decent neighborhood better than paying for anime.
>>
>>10088256
Not entirely true. I make 50K and after I subtract mortgage + condo fees + subway pass to work, that leaves me $200/week for everything else. You know, completely unnecessary stuff like haircuts, shampoo and FOOD.
>>
>>10088216

A good chunk of my money goes to that, but I recognize that the people who make and market anime have the same expenses.
