Who is the worst anime / manga protagonist of all time?
Naruto. Incompetent as shit, wants to be ninja king but doesn't even know basics of how everything works. He only gets powerful thanks to spirit inside him that he had no business being there.
Why did you start this thread with an image of a great protagonist?
Last I checked Ken was not afraid to kill anyone that got in his way and was more so used as a figurehead for peace then really someone whose main goal was to save the world. Or does having a purpose makes you a moralfag now?
The C3 MC was fucking shit
Even that faggot Shinji is better than that boring moralfag bullshit that is Kenshiro.
Kenshiro was TOLD DIRECTLY FROM GOD THAT EVERYTHING HE EVER DID AND EVERYTHING HE EVER WILL DO IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
If that's not the shittiest and most uncompelling character you've ever heard, then yes, you are a moralfag.
>Kenshiro was TOLD DIRECTLY FROM GOD THAT EVERYTHING HE EVER DID AND EVERYTHING HE EVER WILL DO IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
When the fuck did that happen? Did we watch the same show?
>not 80's as fuck who gets shot in the head and doesn't afraid of anything
gr8 b8 m8
Refute anything that was said dumbfuck
Nobody gives a shit about your nostalgia
What's sad is at least Akagi justified his trolling. You're on a pathetically lower level.
You're honestly not defending moralfag characters, are you?
Y'know, the worst kind of characters ever? Especially Kenshiro because of the god mode bullshit that justifies why he can kill anyone that offends antiquated values?
But Ken isn't a moralfag, nothing he did counts other than having a purpose that aligns with being a good person. Ken killed those who got in his way indiscriminately and never chose to save the world, it just coincided with his personal goals.
Kenshiro is more than a bog-standard 'good' person, he is an exemplary figure of moral goodness and righteousness in hopeless and bleak era who has come to bring down karmic retribution on evildoers.
For one that doesn't even look like he is the one saying it, second the manga has never had the most spot on of translations, and third you still haven't shown me this supposed point where he claims god told him to do it.
You must be new here
>For one that doesn't even look like he is the one saying it
Then who the fuck else could be saying it?
> antiquated values
Like all of his villains were typical absolute evil tier that just stepped on innocent people because.
Not that I'm saying Kenshiro is amazing. Bruce Lee by way of Mad Max sounds awesome but not in a serialized comic. You are with him for so long that him being stoic goes from badass to plain boring.
What does any of that have to do with his morals being so outdated that they were antiquated even 30 years ago?
There's a reason you don't see protags like him anymore.
"Moralfags" are largely one-dimensional. They never stop to think about what they do, to ponder the meanings of right, wrong, good, and evil. They blindly maintain an arbitrary stance, and never display any hesitation in action. By this, they are unrealistic and unengaging, because they are not human.
The only ways to reconcile this tired archetype is to present situations where the moralfag is either proven to be a fanatic, and thusly becomes a villain or goes insane when their feeble perceptions collapse, or is forced to deeply reconsider his/her naive position for a more guarded, perhaps even hostile, stance.
Moralfags are the single most boring characters there are. Their actions and reactions are completely predictable and unchanging. Nothing about the character develops due to their static moral compass.
They lack depth and believability, and are in every way uninteresting.
It's like he only got angrier uglier over time.
Usually there are bystanders during the fights of HnK and based on the art I would guess this is around the middle to latter part of the story, if I had to guess maybe Rihaku said it because he always wanted Ken to accept his role as a savior when Ken gave no fucks.
But that doesn't describe Ken at all
Man what the fuck are you talking about.
Ken says it to Souther during their battle after Shuu told him to fully embrace becoming the savior.
How are his morals outdated? He punches a bad guy because they are really bad. Everything is black and white in the story.
These are Ken's stated, pinned-down goals through the anime:
1) Get even with Shin.
2) Enforce Hokuto's law of single succession by killing Raoh.
He didn't have to fight ANYBODY else, but still goes out of his way to explode bandits and save children.
I wish I still had a screencap of the time when he sneaks up on a group of bandits and explodes them all while they're eating and says "You've killed too many people to live" because out of context it's a HILARIOUS quote.
Altruism, 'justice', 'honor' and protecting 'innocent' people especially women and children is like something from the turn of the century, nobody has believed in that shit in decades especially not in fiction. Kenshiro honestly seems like a character from the 1930's more than the 80's.
>ITT: We argue over how we should interpret an MC
Oh then it was only done over halfway through the story and was caused by Ken wanting revenge for his dead friend and at that point accepts his role as the only one who can seal the fists of all these power hungry tyrants/murderous psychopaths? I still do not see how any of this makes him a "moralfag" when he was moreso just following a promise he made to his dead friend.
He just killed those who got in the way/pissed him off and helped those who asked. Sure he helped the innocent but how does that make you a moralfag?
Is everyone that isn't an edgemaster I only use this buzzword because its for once appropriate that shits on being a decent person a "moralfag"?
>Sure he helped the innocent but how does that make you a moralfag?
>Everything is black and white in the story.
Not true, a lot of the villains had pretty good motivations for what was happening. Especially Raoh.
We /v/ now
Shirou from Fate/Stay Night and Touma from Raildex. I don't get why people suck their dicks so much. Also that Edgemaster Gary Stu Ultimax from Tsukihime.
/a/ hated Kenshiro long before /v/ and corrupted /v/ into doing it.
I wouldn't say justice, altruism, and protecting women and children is outdated. The first two are pretty standard and protecting those that can't protect themselves goes hand in hand with that. "Honor" is pretty big in kung fu movies which heavily influenced this series. He is a somewhat standard martial hero.
That betagonist from Freezing.
Raoh was nothing more than a gigantic entitled power hungry baby who thought the world belonged to him, shut the fuck up.
Every haremshit MC
Yeah really, moralfag was created for preachy faggots and people who couldn't kill the main villain because "KILLING IS WRONG". You keep throwing around moralfag like everyone who doesn't actively try to upturn society is some plague and a bad character like some edgy 13 year old that thinks Death Note is a work of art.
This is the only thing I've ever read on /a/ that's legitimately upset me.
If /a/ can't love HnK, they can't love anything.
Raoh was the original hero but he lost his way in trying to obtain power. He was aiming to unite the world under his rule by creating an organized society that he ruled to settle the wastes. That is why they ask the question of "What does the world need most? The Ruler of the Century's End or the Savior?".
I will... fight for love!
Shin: Got coerced into trying to steal Yuria by Jagi and build an empire to "make" her love him. Big whiny baby.
Yuda: Obsessed with beauty and built a harem of kidnapped women. Big whiny baby.
Jagi: Couldn't become the successor to Hokuto because he's ugly as sin and shit at martial arts so he tries to ruin Ken's life. Big whiny baby.
Souther: Got tricked into killing his master as part of his succession ritual so now he's pissed at the world and wants to kill children or something? Big whiny baby.
Raoh: Selfish prat who through he was the absolute best and the entire world belonged to him. Big whiny baby.
All the big villains in HnK can be classified in one way or another as BIG WHINY BABIES.
Pic related: it's neo-/a/
But his fight with Fudo.
Plus, he was entitled because he was legitimately the strongest person around.
Raoh's ambition was always to just rule over everything, well before the nuclear war this was his goal and he was delighted to see those bombs fall because it gave him his wish of ruling everything. At no point did he ever have any noble intentions until the very end after Ken beat his ass a few times.
Most do, just a bunch of babies being babies and trying to be contrarian when they say they hate it
Kenshiro was more powerful than Raoh up until Raoh also unlocked Musou Tensei through his sorrow of Yuria's sickness, by then though he knew he had to die by Ken's fist.
>Kenshiro will never make a bandit's dick explode as punishment for his sins
>That flashback of everyone as children
>Raoh makes Yuria cry just by looking her in the eyes
>Ken causes her to open her heart and speak for the first time
Raoh was NEVER the hero. Fuck that shit.
/v/, please quit trying to fit in. It's embarrassing.
But Raoh also knew he was evil, that's why he asked Toki to take him out if he ever went too far
The second we started learning about Raoh we saw that it was more than a power fantasy, if he only cared about ruling the world there would have been no losing of sanity when fighting against Fudo. Raoh believed what he was doing was right and its debatable if what he was doing was wrong because he DID unite a lot of people who were living as savages and though his shitty underlings subjugated these people his goal was to make humanity stand again. Raoh did not care about ruling the world, he just wanted to establish his own strength from originally wanting to protect his younger brother and everyone else but lost sight of it all in his journey for said strength.
>Raoh the hero
He started to have mental breakdowns towards the end because Ken beating him up exposed weaknesses he didn't want to admit (fear), before that he was literally an insane megalomaniac all brawn and no brains.
>guy makes someone die of sadness
>BUT HE IS SO MUCH DEEPER
No regrets though.
Even Ken mourned his death, recognizing he was a great and noble man.
As a child he showed the promise of being the one most suited to be the suitor but by the time he met Yuria he had completely lost his way because he put too much faith in strength.
Again, he lost his way and at that point was killing all those who interfered with him trying to become the strongest martial artist in the world
Yeah because everything he believed in was crumbling before him and the strength he sacrificed everything for and became the only thing he relied in was defeated. That breakdown was Raoh finally realizing Ken truly surpassed him by accepting Hokuto Shinken and feelings of regret for his actions.
How did that wife and babby interfere with him?
How did the Gandhi villager interfere with him when he surrendered peacefully?
Raoh's a fucking retard barbarian the same as all the other retard barbarians tearing up the wasteland.
>By the time he met Yuria
He was a little kid.
He didn't look any older from the flashback where him and Toki meet Ryuken and become his students.
I'll nominate that guy from Asobi ni Cat Planet Cuties.
>Who is the worst anime / manga protagonist of all time?
Absolute garbage, dropped after 3 eps.
Akagi did you finally get tired of trolling /v/ after all these years?
>Not loving golgo
How pleb can you be?
/a/ hates everything.
akagi pls go
Mister I can't ever miss is boring.
i like ryu from street fighter as a character. he's boring, but i still like him. mario as well.
He lost one fight years ago and hasn't lost one since even though he should have lost a hundred times over already.
Watching the anime only really made me see how bullshit HnI is. That right counter from Sawamura would have knocked him out easily but THE SPIRIT OF OUR FRIENDSHIP AND TRAINING or some stupid sht saved him.
The one from Gosick.
>No Mr.BBEG who killed my family and destroyed my village, I won't kill you because killing is wrong and would make me just like you
>Kenshiro kills bandits that raid innocent people
I'm pretty sure anyone that says Ken is a moralfag is one of those dipshits who doesn't know what it means, like the kind of idiot that would call Shouma from Sougeki a Gary Stue.
It can't even be a troll because saying Ken is an edgemaster works so much better to piss people off, play off the whole "Evil people deserve to die" edgy angle.
Unless using the worse bait is the bait itself, I guess.
This faggot right here.
he is the human incarnation of generic moralfag
VOTOMS was a huge Autism Awareness PSA
What's your point?
OP, Are you implying that fucking kenshiro is the worst protag of all time? Wait seriously? I mean I'm going to assume that's who you fucking picked as the worst.
You have to be a fucking idiot, or have literal shit for taste to think kenshiro is the worst possible candidate for a protagonist
That's bullshit. Any villain with some depth has their own moral code, and believes themselves to be the hero of their story. There's no conflict with amoral characters, which is why True Neutrals almost always get the part of "Random Villager" or "Dispassionate Muggle." Characters without morals are the ones who never sit down to think about their actions; animals lack morals.

>Any villain with some depth has their own moral code
Doesn't being labeled as a villan usually come from a lack of morals and ethics?
>There's no conflict with amoral characters,
Except there is, every fucking time, in every anime ever that has any conflict between good and bad.
>Characters without morals are the ones who never sit down to think about their actions;
I'll actually agree with that, somewhat. I mean, I understand what you're trying to say underneath it all, without actually going deep into description, but I doubt most people will feel that way, probably because they're exposed mostly to middle-aged shonenshit.
I always thought Hokuto no Ken followed that Chinese kung fu thing where a master would go school to school and those masters to prove that their style is the best since that's what Raoh did the majority of the time.
>Except there is, every fucking time, in every anime ever that has any conflict between good and bad
There's no internal conflict with amoral characters. Physical conflict, sure. You can have physical conflict with a man and a bear, or even a force of nature. But an amoral character, by their nature, will never be conflicted over whether what they did was right or not, which has the end result of making them less complex.
>Doesn't being labeled as a villan usually come from a lack of morals and ethics?
Magneto's generally classified as a villain.
Is that your final answer? Because there ARE a lot worse characters than him
I have to spoiler this, but yeah..How about the MC to Guilty crown?, That ring any bells?
Well, if you put aside everything EXCEPT Physical conflict, then sure there's never really any conflict besides the neutral character swooping in once or twice to save the MC from "a sure death" and then disappearing for the rest of x/y series and "watching the MC from the shadows" etc etc kinda shit, but don't you think that even if he's watching the MC "from the shadows" as a neutral spectator, that he has some kinda agenda in mind that MAKES him consider X/Y character worth keeping tabs on? Neutral Amoralistic characters don't just follow / stalk / develop along side other characters randomly, they DO have ulterior motives of some kind, so that has to fucking count as something, right?
It does, except in a more post-apocalyptic sense, so you have to separate obvious things like moral integrity and access of used-to-exist things like the law, commerce, and incentive.
Raoh essentially disregarded everything from the very beginning, and sought nothing but power.
You missed your favorite pic in the OP, Akagi.
The manga is more about the politics and legend surrounding Golgo. Hell, half of the chapters don't even have him in it.
This fucking guy.
