What is Yoshihiro Togashi's best work and why is it still to this day Yu Yu Hakusho?
It is if you only count everything up to the dark tournament arc. No, Yusuke, you are the demons.
Did he say KNIFE'S EDGE DEATHMATCH?
Because he only drew like two manga and one is YYH and the other one is Naruto before it was cool
Kuwabara is mai husbando
>Because he only drew like two manga and one is YYH and the other one is Naruto before it was cool
He also did Level E but your point still kinda stands.
Hunter x Hunter is objectively better, sorry
>and the other one is Naruto before it was cool
Because the Dark Tournament is the gold standard in shonen tournament arcs.
Every round, except the stupid DR. one, is awesome.
YYH is forever ruined by the shitty Yusuke is the demons plot twist.
Everything after the Dark Tournament arc never happened.
Didn't HxH and Naruto start publishing around the same year though?
According to Wiki:
Sensēha Toshishita!! (1986, later featured in Ten de Shōwaru Cupid Volume 4)
Jura no Miduki (1987, featured in Hop Step Award Selection Volume 1)
Ōkami Nante Kowakunai!! (1989, tankōbon published by Shueisha)
Buttobi Straight (1987)
Tonda Birthday Present (1987, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump)
Occult Tanteidan (1988–1989, two parts published in Weekly Shōnen Jump)
Horror Angel (1988, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump)
Ōkami Nante Kowakunai!! (1989, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump)
Ten de Shōwaru Cupid (1989–1990, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump)
YuYu Hakusho (1990–1994, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump)
Level E (1995–1997, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump)
Hunter × Hunter (1998–ongoing, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump)
Of all these works, YYH is easily my favorite. HxH would be if it didn't just die.
Huh, didn't know Level E was that old.
Togashi wrote other things?
Level E was pretty gud. Probably enjoyed it more than HxH or YYH, if only for that fucking ending.
Yeah, good luck finding any since only Level E, YYH, and HxH got any real fame.
>Probably enjoyed it more than HxH or YYH
Eh, I liked it but not as much as those. But that ending was Togashi/10.
Tis the face of a true man.
Tis the face of a true tree.*
I have a hard time really connecting HxH and YYH as being by the same person in my head. There's the stuff like Ging being Yusuke and the earlier art looking similar at times, but when I think of moments from YYH and moments from HxH they don't really fit together to me.
One thing about YYH's manga is that the fights were usually really really fast paced, especially compared to the anime's version of those fights. A lot of the time I think I prefered the anime's fight pacing.
Wish the last volume would get decent scans. I went to a secondhand book store a while back and they had every volume of YYH for cheap except for the last 3 or so.
YYH was pretty average, the first arc was decent but later on togashi took a lot of elements from DB which felt unoriginal as shit specially tournament arc, post tournament arc it just went to shit .
Too bad I'm not smart enough to think of any tree puns.
You shouldn't think so poorly of yourself. Kuwabara woodn't like that.
because that dub, yourameshy's personality, kurama's prettyness, and the tournament
God team Toguro was cool and watching them fight.
>Mfw Bui fighting for the first time and lifting that axe
>which felt unoriginal as shit specially tournament arc
Nigga I will fight you for shit-talking The Dark Tournament. But, in all seriousness, while I never liked tournament arcs traditionally, The Dark Tournament felt different, somehow.
WALKING IN A CROWD
IN A FACELESS TOWN
I NEED TO FEEL THE TOUCH OF A FRIEND
I didn't save the picture but
YOUR OPINIONS MAKE ME ANGRY
What was your favorite moment in YYH /a/?
I loved the knife edge deathmatch so much.
Kuwabara revealing he wasn't dead. Granted I love the entirety of the Dark Tournament, but that moment just stuck with me.
Yusuke's fight with the wind guy, Jin, I believe his name was. He was a particularly likable character and the fight was pretty unique.
Because Hunter x Hunter is never going to end.
Fuck yeah, knife edge deathmatch was awesome. My favorite moment was actually probably during the preview at the end of Episode 51.
>Somber music instead of usual adrenaline filled previews to get you pumped up for the next episode.
>Yusuke narrates "...And nothing's ever gonna be the same again."
>The words "The Death of Genkai" appear, preparing me for the next episode.
if they dub HxH, the guy who did his english voice needs to do Knuckle.
Bui realizing he had reached his peak.
Toguro wasn't actually a bad guy. ;_;
I bet he could pull off Morel too
For some reason, the scene where Yusuke breaks the spirit cuffs and the ensuing epic power up was always my favorite moment in the series. I guess it's because that was the main point for me that the show truly grew the beard.
That scene still makes me cry
Whenever Koto spoke
Nah, Kuwabara's voice is too high pitched. Unless the VA can manage an older Kuwabara. In fact, I'd love it if everyone's counterpart got the same VA with some exceptions like Killua/Hiei and Kurapika/Kurama. I think I may be the only one who actually liked the English 99 actor for Kurapika.
I meant when he powered up against Toguro, but the one you mean incidentally is my second favorite scene.
I liked the whole Sensui arc. But yeah, Demon plot twist was kind of lame.
So, everyone, dub or sub?
I will stand tall and firm against the hordes and waves of raging /a/nons in saying that THE DUB FOR THIS SHOW IS THE SHIT
>braces for impact
>Your a Meshi
I think we all know which one is superior
It's the dub
Sensui arc felt the most HxH like to me. Everyone's powers with restrictions/conditions was basically nen lite and the whole group before they disbanded were like the Spiders. Would have loved to see more of them working together.
Nah, YYH felt like a progressive standard battle shonen but didn't caught me too much, while HxH felt more like a big adventure and I loved it a lot more.
I almost got mad but then I realized you said "THE shit" instead of just "shit"
I was always kind of disappointed they didn't animate half of the stories from the first two volumes of the manga. There was some great stuff in there.
I miss her so much, anon. ;_;
YYH is a perfect dub
Is Level-E good?
Whichever you prefer
I didn't read the manga since I knew about the anime first. But it was pretty neat. Typical Togashi elements everywhere and plot twists that would make Shyamalan sweat.
When Yusuke allegedly died and Kuwabara stabbed a fucking dimension to death just for a shot at revenge.
Very fun show. The only part of the manga I read was the epilogue that was never animated.
The worst part of it is that the Color Rangers single was never released, nor the rest of the OST other than the OP/ED singles.
Remember when Togashi used to put effort into his drawings and was in denial about how much he liked to draw traps.
Love the knife edge deathmatch. This is definitely up there as one of my favorite moments.
It's no wonder he quit HxH. YYH worked him to the bone
>File name: This is what Tumblr actually thinks.
ON THE COUNTRY SIDE
I WANDER FAR AND WIDE
THE ISOLATION GETS ME AGAIN
>What is Yoshihiro Togashi's best work and why is it still to this day Yu Yu Hakusho?
Because you can't really describe what he does on HxH as "work".
But the first ED dubbed it's great.
Yusuke in the cave was one of my favorite scenes in anything ever.
>looking for dub on nyaa
>find entire collection
>everyone screaming in the comments about how much they want the sub and the dub sucks
Whelp, I guess I'm watching YYH again.
This will be the 9th or so time in as many years. Downloaded the blurays not long ago so it'll be nice seeing it in HD for the first time.
>this shit taste
HXH is better
If you ever feel bad about yourself, remember that there are people that actually think HxH is better than YYH
Thanks anon. That cheered me up
Take off your nostalgia glasses and deal with the true
FUCK YOU I HAVE TO REWATCH IT NOW FUCK
Take off your faggot glasses and get out of your delusions.
What delusions? just rewatch it and deal with it
Not that guy but bitch I re watched it just last week it was just as glorious as ever
Best part of the show.
That arc had heavy influence from JoJo part 3. The video game playing part was almost directly ripped from it too. Togashi even admits that the territory powers were influenced by stands from JoJo.
Has Araki ever done any of Togashi's characters and vice versa? I recall seeing a Kenshiro once and other authors swapping styles. Unfortunately I don't have any of them.
Ah, foundthe Kenshiro.
I don't know of any interactions or mentions between the two authors other than the time Togashi talks about the territory powers thing in an interview. It's pretty sad since I'd love to see either of them do something of that sort for the other. Maybe the new Jump fighting game will give an opportunity for that.
Oh wait, I just remembered that Togashi drew Polpo from JoJo part 5. For some reason I thought he was absent from that anniversary drawing thing.
Just how popular was that? I bought a DVD years ago with one of the YYH OVA's and it was included. Wasn't terrible, but I had to be 14 or so when I saw it. Also I love this image to hell.
I'm not even a third into Part 5 so unfortunately I can't appreciate it.
Not sure about Ninku, it's a pretty cool image though.
Polpo is from pretty early on in Part 5. He's the fat-ass that lives in a jail cell and gives Giorno the lighter test. Pretty much living Togashi's dream of never having to leave his house and having everything within reach that he'd ever want.
Oh, wow forgot about him. Sort of disappointing. Then again, Togashi's lazy so drawing an actual Jojo would have been too much work.
>liking the first arc
>not liking any of the others
Every time this played
>there will never be a full English Unbalanced Kiss
>tears roll down your face
Why aren't anime OP/ED's as good as this any more? One Piece did the English versions for awhile, but they just never measured up.
So Wdwune/Dwun is Togashi himself?
Yes, and Bisky is Wdwune's soon-to-be waifu.

I sure have been getting lewd things lately.
