Am I the only one who thinks old anime is severely overrated?
>excessive and unrealistic shading
>stupid contrived plots that go nowhere
>girls everywhere no matter what
And this is different from todays anime in what regard?
The fact that it doesn't look like shit?
Well that's just your opinion.
Todays anime just generally has prettier backgrounds, rest is pretty much a question of personal taste.
You know, I'll never understand the butthurt over Gall Force.
It's really hit and miss when it comes to older stuff. Personally, I can't stand stuff from the 70s. Horrible animation, terrible audio quality, really dumb characters.
Improved colour palette.
>>stupid contrived plots that go nowhere
>>girls everywhere no matter what
This can apply to modern anime.
I will agree with you on appearance though, I prefer modern.
>Am I the only one who has only seen OVA and mid to late 80s anime?
It's aged terrible yes, but then most things do in a medium which changes so much.
30s films compared to now, 80-90s videogames compared to now etc Why should anime be any different?
>girls everywhere no matter what
the music and art are also great
Well it seems younger people can't watch anything that isn't overbright with shaky camera with a plot that is thrown in their faces. I tried watching some classic movies with my cousin and it's exactly the reaction I got. It's a shame that you will never get to enjoy good stuff because you have a half second attention span.
Aged audio is the worst.
>tfw showing my little brother Gaogaigar and he loved it
Confirmed for not caring about the story in anime as long as it looks good.
>Not about cutesy shit doing cutesy shit
>Have stories sounding people who are actually out of high school
Not to mention that Joe looks really good and has great direction.
You're a good bro.
Try showing "Ryu Knight" to him. My younger bro totally enjoyed it.
80s da best.
Dezaki was an amazing director. One of the best.
I would but he tends to not liked subbed stuff too much
Except Gyrozetter, jesus fuck he loves watching that
people should consider saying "japanimation" instead of "animes" when they troll
I actually enjoy when stuff look like it was drawn by a human being not a machine.
But it still does nignog.
You enjoy when it looks like it was done with celluloid and paints and not an art software.
Congratulations, you picked the best possible anime for your argument. Now go watch some Lodoss and realize not every show released in the same time period is the same.
Old music is old? First I've heard of it.
Why does this get so much hype for the animation?
Does it improve later?
Is SAC really hyped for its animation? It's definitely not bad or mediocre, but the GiTS most hyped for animation is the first movie.
>I never watched Jin-Roh, Key the Metal Idol, or Butt Attack Punisher Girl.
>Record of Generic D&D Slideshow
>good example of anything
>implying Legend of the Galactic Heroes isn't a masterwork
Seconding this. GitS movie has some truly top notch animation. Plus the art style is very gritty and realistic, which I really enjoyed.
GitS:SAC 1st season was okay but I just couldn't take it seriously with the Major running around in a bathing suit in military installations, etc. 2nd Gig was better imo. Both the TV series are flawed creations in the face of the first GitS movie though.
