So, kyoani is going to make this.
What is the /a/ opinion about it?

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-01-14/amagi-brilliant-park-novels-gets-anime-by-kyoto-animation

The "slapstick drama" begins with Seiya Kanie, a high school boy who is invited on a date in an amusement park by a mysterious beautiful transfer student named Isuzu Sento. He is introduced to Ratifa, a "real" princess and the park's manager, and is asked to be the acting manager of this "disappointing amusement park in the Tokyo suburbs."

I want to be disappointed, but I really can't help but laugh.

They're taunting us. That hurts, KyoAni. ;_;
>>
>google it
Oh, I see. It wasn't KyoAni taunting us but Shoji Gatoh. okay.jpg

I finished the first volume recently and enjoyed it much more than I thought. I was a bit concerned, since the packaging obviously tries to push it as typical haremshit and the back cover focuses on the least most interesting aspect of the plot ("a mysterious transfer student meets our protagonist, blah blah blah") but I should have trusted Satoh more.

It made me realize just how homogenized light novels have become, though. I don't think there would have been a problem selling the series as it actually is, but I can see modern editorial panicking and wondering how they're going to sell something with only two bits of major fanservice in three hundred pages and more focus on funny mascot hijinks than girls who want Seiya's cock for no reason.
>>
From the spoilers posted in one of the earlier threads is that the story is a lot more darker than you would expect.
>>
>>100858770
*selling the series as it actually is back when FMP first came out
>>
>>100858802
Yeah, it is. Seems like that's Japan's problem with it, at least. I thought the solution to the problem was fine, but I guess they didn't want a protagonist who is willing to get his hands dirty.
>>
I thought they were going to push for their own LNs, what happened?
>>
>>100858965
Hey, sometimes you need to sin to create miracles.

A pity I haven't been able to find translation for the 2nd book. I want to see them defeating their nemesis and get on with proper slice of life from book 3.
>>
Another Shitty harem LN adaptation?
>>
>>100857811
>I want to be disappointed, but I really can't help but laugh.
The funniest thing is that looking at the cover you'd think she's the main heroine, but I'd say even Moffle is much more important than her.
>>
>>100859040
>I thought they were going to push for their own LNs, what happened?
Not enough material for now, might as well earn some pocket change in the mean time.
>>
>>100859094
>Hey, sometimes you need to sin to create miracles.
It would have been a million times worse if the solution was as it was initially presented. "Making miracles" indeed, huh.
>>
>>100859106
>Another Shitty harem LN adaptation?
There is definitely very little harem in book 1.

Book 2... Well, it seems that's more a parody of harem.
>>
>>100859168
>It would have been a million times worse if the solution was as it was initially presented. "Making miracles" indeed, huh.
I am dying to read book 2. Just because their goal in book 2 is much harder than Book 1.
>>
>>100859179
Have you read book two? Is there more Latifa/Seiya? I thought they were cute.
>>
>>100859179

Care to explain?
>>
>>100859260
>Just because their goal in book 2 is much harder than Book 1.
Oh really? Man, I think I know what I'm picking up on my way in to work!
>>
>>100859273
>Have you read book two?
Sadly no, I just read the synopsis in the Japanese wiki.
They are still in the red and will soon go bankrupt, and yet the MC suddenly decided he needs to expand by hiring more people. Got to spend money to make money. Some of the new people are attractive females, but it seems at least one of them was once employed in the JAV industry. All I know is that a secret cave is a plotpoint and they explored it.
>>
>>100859290
>Care to explain?
Some of the women in book two are... not the type of females you would want in a harem, let along work in a theme park.
>>
>>100859040
It is their LN in a way, it won KyoAni's award.
>>
>>100859534
>It is their LN in a way, it won KyoAni's award.
Not this one. This is just a Kadokawa book.
>>
>>100859491
Seiya...you need to look at your hiring processes...

Well, that's part of the fun. I work in a service-related industry, so that's how I got a lot of my laughs in the first novel. (That and the gag about the castle love hotel nearby named after the Alamo that people mistake for the park. It was like Seiya mirrored my exact thoughts after hearing the name.)
>>
>>100859040
>I thought they were going to push for their own LNs, what happened?
Could be that they don't have anything worth animating at the moment. Or they're not opposed to doing other companies IP as long as the focus remains on their original content.

Just remember that I am reading synopsis from bad translations. So anything I say about book 2 needs to be taken with a grain of salt until proper translations come out.
>>
Well if it's with Kadokawa and Itou then it'll probably be a mega budget production like Hyouka and Nichijou.

Which is not to say Kyoani originals don't look great already but those two were on another level.
>>
>>100860055
Who translated the first novel? I was considering doing it, but looks like there's really no point.

Only those who can read Chinese, sorry.

JESUS CHRIST.

Will KyoAni censor this?

Oh, so it's a Chinese translation? Okay, maybe I'll still translate after all.
>>

>Will KyoAni censor this?

It could also just be a misunderstanding. You can't trust what they tell you in the synopsis sometimes...
>>
>>100857430
It'll be like every other KyoAni show
5 good minutes per episode
4 minutes of OP and ED
15 minutes of mediocrity
Normals will love it and buy tons of copies
Normals love KyoAni
>>
>>100860276
>Oh, so it's a Chinese translation? Okay, maybe I'll still translate after all.
Have fun. And hopefully you would still have the energy to do book 2 so the rest of us can know what the fuck happened at the end of it. Can't find spoilers anywhere.
>>
>>100860276
That would be nice.
>>
>>100858802

I can already see those two with the KyoAni sameface.

No promises, but it is incredibly easy to read, and I sort of hate the idea of BT mangling a decent series when it finally attracts more attention...

>No promises, but it is incredibly easy to read, and I sort of hate the idea of BT mangling a decent series when it finally attracts more attention...
Hell, I would be happy just to know how the 2nd book ended, a simple summary would do. Any more translations than that is just bonus.
>>
I hope this LN series doesn't have a bad ending.
>>
>>100857430
All this cancer.
>>
Cautiously optimistic, but dropped as soon as they shoehorn K-On faces and blob hands into this shit.
>>
>Bonta-kun
W-What the- Oh, that's Gatou's new novel series.
Good thing he decided to do harem shenanigans shit. I was so tired of top-tier mecha action scenes and trained, capable mercenaries doing trained, capable mercenary things.
>>
>>100861288
>Good thing he decided to do harem shenanigans shit.
You will get none of that in this series/book. No one in the show had time for fun... Which is ironic as they are in a theme park.
>>
>>100861288
>Good thing he decided to do harem shenanigans shit.
But there aren't any harem shenanigans. FMP had more haremshit than this series so far.
>>
>>100857430
The premise seems stupid. Who the fuck would just hand over a theme park to some random high school kid?
>>
>>100861503
>But there aren't any harem shenanigans. FMP had more haremshit than this series so far.
In fact there is so little fanservice that it seems they forced it all out for the promotion art.

Witch is rather meta; the only reason the females were wearing swimwear to begin with was to pull in eyes in advertising, even though none of them wear that at the park. It is almost false advertising. And yet the advert in-story ended up as advert for the real life anime.
>>
>>100861909
>The premise seems stupid. Who the fuck would just hand over a theme park to some random high school kid?
He has credentials. He just lives under a false name.

And this isn't about a theme park, not really. This is about survival.
>>
KyoAni have a knack for polishing mediocre source material into good anime.

This just looks bad. I'm guessing this is a paycheck project just to pay their bills.
>>
>>100861996
>He has credentials. He just lives under a false name.
So he used to run a theme park as a kid? Still sounds fucking retarded.
>>
>>100862109
>So he used to run a theme park as a kid? Still sounds fucking retarded.
I am not even going to bother to explain.
>>
ITT: People who haven't read the LN and think their opinions matter.
>>
>>100861923
>Witch is rather meta; the only reason the females were wearing swimwear to begin with was to pull in eyes in advertising, even though none of them wear that at the park.
Yeah, and to make it even more ironic, they got better viral advertising from that incident with Moffle...
>>
>>100861923
Which is the problem. False advertising never helps, because it means people that want to read a series like that will be turned off before they even pick up the book, and people that are looking for fanservice will feel like they were deceived.
>>
So what is this series actually about anyway? The premise in the OP doesn't sound all that great.
>>
>>100862565
Saying more would probably be spoilers. It's much more interesting than herp derp transfer student, though.
>>
>>100861486
>>100861503
Oh. I am pleased then. Plus now that I realize, it's KyoAni so I'll watch it anyways.
But does it have AT Daggers? Likable AIs? Versatile, low-cost Soviet mechas? Submarine warfare? Treacherous Russian Majors?
>>
>>100862775
>But does it have AT Daggers? Likable AIs? Versatile, low-cost Soviet mechas? Submarine warfare? Treacherous Russian Majors?
It has magical creatures doing mundane things. It is about the Recession, and how Japan never recovered. It is about people in despair, losing hope that the princess would survive another year. It is about binge drinking, needing the pay child support, and that it hurts to get kicked in the shin by a brat.

And it is about a young man, charged with the task of performing a miracle, because he is the one chosen.
>>
>>100862419
>Which is the problem. False advertising never helps, because it means people that want to read a series like that will be turned off before they even pick up the book, and people that are looking for fanservice will feel like they were deceived.
The Rifle girl and her habit of bathing 3 times a day is rather strange. Because it has exactly zero plot relevance so far, and the only thing it did was to force her to use MC's home shower facilities and generate the single blatant fanservice art in that book. As far as I am aware you never see her without clothes after that.
>>
>>100862083
>KyoAni have a knack for polishing good source material into mediocre anime

Fix'd
>>
>>100863269
That was the single stupidest part of the novel and I hope KyoAni just cuts it out. It's like I can see Gatoh's editor breathing down his neck, "So when are these girls going to get naked? Huh? Huh? LN readers want naked heroines!"
>>
>>100863088
Smells like potential. Thanks, will await more or less eagerly.
>>
I'm totally fine with this. Honestly, I don't really care all that much about Haruhi or FMP, so something new is more appealing than a sequel to either.
>>
>>100857796
This. I'll be damned if they don't.
