How do you deal with it?
The post-EoE depression?
Thanks, great idea
The only thing depressing about EoE is the fact that it somehow managed to be worse than the TV series.
I read Re-Take
I played the Girlfriend of Steel game (chokes on a million dicks, Mana isn't even good)
I read that Angelic Days manga
There's also an actual NGE manga (which I haven't read yet)
Feels good being an Asukafag, she always wins :^)
Not worse, more confusing
I thought it was great
The final scenes are amazing
You wait for your mind to meld back together and for you to form yourself into a new man.
I agree. It's still one of my absolute favorite films and series.
You will never experience the Komm, Susser Tod sequence for the first time ever again.
I wrote a deconstruction of Eva. A few years after I can get it made I'll put out some half-assed movies to cash in and the cycle will continue.
The real fun starts after you watch it the second time.
Every time is a fucking experience.
I wish people would stop using this buzzword
It's a deconstruction in a loose sense of the word. It's basically the same thing except all the characters get put on Prozac by like episode 2 so everything goes really smoothly.
By reading this.
Goddammit Anno was there anything you didn't steal?
any bets that this book is on anno's bookshelf next to 50 folders marked "muh symbolism"
Gainax made it specifically for that purpose
am i literally the only person who found EoE LESS confusing than ep25&26 on first watch?
u deal with it by watching some epic series after
jesus op its not tha end of tha world
watch anotha epic show and you wont feel those feels
like really all of the evangellion fans who'll stick you if you say anything bad and then there's this
so really eva's about as original and new as a pie to the face
Don't forget a copy of the Bible and an Intro to Psychology textbook.
"the war of the worlds" by h.g. wells
books by freud
and the play "oedipus"
Well that's any fanbase for the most part. There's only a few people that can admit that something they like actually has flaws.
I've put off watching Evangelion for quite some time, is watching the series worth it or should I just watch 1.0?
That might actually cover everything. Maybe a collective works of sci-fi short stories and we have Anno's entire resource base figured.
Watch the series.
Yeah, everything is pretty much derived from something else. It's only plagiarism if you take from one source.
You'd be better of watching old mecha and super sentai if you want to find the inspiration for Anno's works rather than reading philosophy
flaws like this though? intensity-wise the eva fanbase is probably up there with trekkies, but at least trekkies aren't pandering to something that was probably written with FAR less muh symbolism than people pick up on. anno probably took the crosses and thought they looked cool, took some names from the bible and didn't really pay much attention to what he did with them, and then put in some bizzare mother attraction subtext and even after that you've got rei who's fine as a character if you forget that actually she's made from cardboard.
faggot near the end is also irrelevant to the story really, he's just an afterthought anno put in when he realised there was no fujo fanservice. next up is misato, and we're back to anno wanting to fuck his mother.
past that we've got plagiarised huge people in pools of blood
mechas aren't an original idea either.
>robot fighting in Eva
To fight with the robot, you first must enter the robot.
>Komm, Susser Tod sequence
That was God tier film making. Damn!
The movie is terribly confusing but it's so beautiful that you enjoy when you re-watch it over and over again until you actually understand it.
He was a fan of Toku, Mecha, shoujo manga, sci-fi, and a lot of anime.
There is an unironic reason why Anno is called, "The Master".
He is a God-tier director.
Also, Eva was the crowning achievement of the entire staff of Gainax, not just him. It was old Gainax in it's prime, before they silently died after Diebuster, and had a small revival with Imaishi.
Watch Gunbuster and Wings of Honneamise.
Also, Old Gainax was pretty straightforward with expressing their influences. You'd have to realize they were all sci-fi and anime nerds, so they include ideas they found elsewhere. Don't get so bent on "originality", guys.
Or alternatively, FLCL
The End of Evangelion defines the franchise. The Rebuild movies (1.0, 2.0, 3.0) take place in another timeline and therefore don't tie in with EoE.
Watch the original series and EoE, then watch the newest movies. 4.0 isn't even out yet, I don't see why the fuck anyone would want to see the new movies, they're like the final 3 episodes. Shit won't even make sense by watching them prior to watching the original series.
>2nd impact + 14 years
>thinking rebuild isn't a sequel.
By not being so weak-minded that a show affects your psyche. Also, if anything it shouldn't give someone depression since it's about choosing love over pain.
I didn't and turned out shittier for it, best to burn Evangelion as only an anime, find its faults if you can and move on.
Also find that flowchart that explains the religious plot, without the mumbo jumbo.
I don't doubt that it might be a sequel. There are a lot of hints, nods, and callbacks to the original series to the point where they might have actual importance in the story
Too bad she had this tendency of being split in two, seems to be a thing with Germany in general.
Asukas german was so shitty, why not get a VA that actually speaks the language?
