How's the winter season treating you, /a/?
Pretty average. Nothing brilliant to watch but it's at least holding my attention so far. It helps that I'm still enjoying Log Horizon and StB from last season still.
I'm enjoying SYD and Noragami the most I think.
What's your take on the 3 I'm enjoying the most this season (Nobunagun, Wizard Barristers and Sekai Seifuku)?
It's pretty good so far. Waiting for non-HS subs is suffering though
I am watching none of those.
Is Nobunaga any good? I keep trying to watch it but the first few minutes are so boring that I keep getting distracted.
Noragami surprised me, and Space Dandy was not as good as I hoped.
The best season since 2011. Last season was the worst season in history so I am really happy.
Check them out. Nobunagun is specially exceptional, unless you're a lot into loli or Umetsu, in which case Sekai Seifuku and Wizard Barristers are just a treat.
Nobunaga the Fool is good enough. It's no 0048, but it gets a lot of undeserved hate. If you go into it expecting a silly show kinda like Macross 7, you're good to go.
Nobunagun, on the other hand, is just mindblowing.
You have pretty good taste, OP. The only thing I'm watching that you're not is Youkai Watch. It's fine for a kids show, I guess. Other than that and that I'm kinda enjoying Buddy Complex, I pretty much agree with you.
Isn't Umetsu behind Wizard Barristers in some way? I remember people posting about that, so if it's true I wouldn't get your hopes up. Also using metal manipulation magic just to build giant mechs is fucking stupid.
I wouldn't call Nobunagun mindblowing. It's pretty entertaining so far with a great MC but it seems like they're disguising the low budget with the weird colours which might get annoying in the future and who knows if they'll be able to keep the fights interesting. So far so good though.
>Isn't Umetsu behind Wizard Barristers in some way?
And even though Galilei Donna was underwhelming in the end, Wizard Barristers is a lot more in line with Kite and Mezzo. If you haven't watched them (which, is kind of obvious if you don't recognize Wizard Barristers as an Umetsu show right away), go do so. Right now.
You don't say.
I guess I can check Youkai Watch out.
As for Buddy Complex, I dropped it after the first episode. Has it gotten better? Because seriously, even Mahou Sensou and WCW had better first episodes...
>disliked Sekai Seifuku
does not compute
Not really. It's about Aoba trying to convince everyone that he really comes from the past while seeing the girl with the enemy not recognizing him. He's dense as fuck, but the series could be all right if people trusted him a bit more. Otherwise, they'll keep being really retarded.
i like chuunibyou, why do you think it's shit?
Glad that Silver Spoon and Saki are back, Tonari no Seki-kun and Toei Robot girls Z are great but everything else I've picked up is alright but nothing special at best. Looking forward to the last episode of DokiDoki Precure this weekend and the start of the 11th season the week after.
Enjoying a lot of still currently airing things from last season or earlier though, can't believe Space Bros has been going on for almost 2 years now and It's still fantastic.
Oh. Good to know, I'll keep away.
Everything about it is shit, from an objective point of view. The characters are clichéd, the pacing is horrible, it has cheap-looking k-on character design, the music is 0% memorable, 99% of the jokes aren't really funny... and yet, as I say, I'm somehow enjoying it. Maybe because I grew accustomed to the characters I hated during S1...
I dropped Space Bros during the moon accident arc. It was getting too nameky for me, and I was watching so much stuff... maybe as much as I'm watching this season.
I do plan on picking it up again eventually though.
McDonald's food is objectively shit, but you can like it, even if you know it's objectively shit, due to subjective factors.
But keep on being butthurt, kyoanusfag. It - at least - is better than the absolute turds called Tamako Market and KnK.
>That good taste and shit taste all wrapped up into one
Please inconvenience yourself a little.
I disagree. I'll admit the characters are a bit cliched but i don't think that is necessarily bad. Cliches exist because they can be enjoyable when executed properly. I like that type of character designs and the music's not bad, just not great. Not saying it's aots or 10/10 or anything, but i think it's good.
Your good/bad threshold is too low. Train harder.
>hasn't seen gin no saji
best get busy son
It's pretty bad. Other than maybe 5 shows, everything else I've picked up are quite shitty.
Thank god for the remnants of last season and Space Bros. Definitely a backlog season.
Use platinum as the marker for "special mention", not gold. Gold looks too brown, too much like unmentionables.
>Nobunagun and Wizard barristers for AOTS
>liking Nobunaga the Fool
Pretty shounen tastes there OP. Nobunagun is good, but nowhere near AOTS. Nobunaga the Fool is shit and Wizard Barristers is ugly shit.
Dropping Space Dandy and Tonari.
My list this season.
Not OP but what exactly does this mean?
Quite nicely, thanks for asking.
Picky, aren't we?
>believing demographic matters
>"wizard barristers == shounen"
Just lurk forever.
>Picky, aren't we?
I will furthermore commend you on your choice of icons.
I really don't know how people find enjoyment in that fucking trash Nobunagun. I really can't. It's 1000 times worse than Dandy.
Why, thank you.
Funny how my Gundam Build Fighters' happy merchant looks clearer on platinum than he does in gold, huh?
Maybe you don't like testosterone-ridden stuff.
You don't like Redline either?
his season is great, Not enjoyed so many shows in 1 season.
Nobunaga the fool.
Toaru Hikuushi (AOTS)
Bones once again demonstrates their ability to make a series that doesn't fall into 'utter shit' or 'god-tier'.
>Toaru Shitkuushi (AOTS)
They've done both of those tiers before. Of course, it's simply a matter of
>Toaru Hikuushi (AOTS)
Not sure about that, but it's definitely underrated.
Too much good show,Not enough time to do backlog
OST nails it.
Love me some suffering.
It's fun and there's nothing wrong with that, also they're doing a good job of steering into the slide with what they set themselves up with for a second season.
Surprise of the season
Who would've thought?
Was pretty good but it didn't do anything to keep me watching. I forgot to watch this week's episode and when I realised I also realised I didn't care.
Works as a manga, pretty drab as an anime.
Woops, I got that backward. It was supposed to say that Bones once again demonstrates their INABILITY to make a series that doesn't fall into one of those categories.
Better than last year, that's for sure. Last year's winter was probably the worst season we've had in years.
Season is good so far.
People actually like this? It was completely unwatchable. I literally can't think of a single positive thing to say about the show.
Couldn't be better.
It was dark times.
You better not look at the Spring charts then. It hurts to know what's ahead of us.
You don't like great animation and lawyers huh?
I would forcibly insert my hand into her hand and then we'd walk hand-in-hand as a happy couple.
Oh boy, the season where Maoyuu won AOTS by default...
Yep, dark times.
The animation is far from great. It's high budget, but trash. And I'd be fine with lawyers. They aren't lawyers though.
I need more best girl Takao, more bullying roboto girls zee and more best MC Seki-kun. Everything else is second priority.
Noragami is surprisingly good on all fronts
Pupipo is my favorite short of the season
Seki-kun is my second favorite
Gin no Saji 2 is what I expected, more of a great show
Robot Girls Z is hilarious slapstick
Buddy Complex is actually pretty good, action scenes are very well done
Hamatora is fun and I'm glad I stuck with it
That's not GJ-bu, is what someone else would say, but it wasn't anything special even in that season. gdgd Fairies 2 is AOTS.
Nah Chihayafuru S2 was best
Yuasa adapting Matsumoto, Stardust Crusaders and Mushishi. What's your point?
Might end up dropping Nobunaga the Fool, Buddy Complex and Witchcraft Works (in favor of the manga, dat ED though).
As for shorts, RGZ and Onee-chan are great. Seki-kun is fun to see animated, too, even if I still prefer the manga.
I'm still wading through some stuff, so this isn't completely accurate. I'll probably pick up Nobunagun and Mikakunin. The rest I'm still mulling over.
As for shorts: Seki-kun is undeniably the best, and Robot Girls Z was my surprise hit. Pupipo and 575 are pretty decent as well.
Pretty good so far.
How can so much good taste and shit taste be mixed in one single person?
I don't know friend, I like what I like.
I'm watching more than my usual amount of anime as it airs this season. Typically I end up picking up more towards the end or even a season or two late, and only watch 2-3 shows "live".
Cliche as fuck but saved by the Shaft-isms and production quality
Enjoyable, cute and lewd. Makes me feel like Yuyushiki did.
Some good insanity and neat powers. The training episode left me a bit unsatisfied after the others
More sex jokes: the anime. Nice seeing higher production values. Also the first time watching it censored. I think the censor sounds might actually improve it.
It's alright. I don't really have any strong opinions on it.
>Tonari no Seki-kun
Fun little short show. Possibly strings jokes on too long, but it works for me.
>Kill la Kill
Enjoyable, but I feel its plot could be moving faster.
>Gundam Build Fighters
Great fan service of the non-sexy kind. Some decent sexy fanservice too.
yellow is close to dropping
Not exactly a good season but not nearly as bad as the most recent ones.
I always knew that /a/ had shit taste, but I didn't knew it is that shitty.
For example look at this faggot>>100833410
He didn't even saw Robot Girls Z and has shit taste all around.
I feel like I wouldn't like the manga because it would lack the shaft touch.
Very well actually.
too many kawai crap and last season was better
You don't sound like you enjoy this medium too much.
And yet he's still watching probably the worst show of the season.
On the contrary, only shounenshit is what I exclusively avoid. Still have 9 shows to watch.
All I'm getting from this guy is that he really likes shorts. And mediocre romcoms.
He isn't even watching Wooser because he thinks it's "kiddy shit".
So far i'm enjoying
with WCW and Zvezda being my contestants for AOTS
Other than the ED, how can WCW be a contender for AOTS for you?
I enjoy it very much and that's what matters
It's a decent adaptation of a great manga.
Arpeggio was last season AOTS for me
Not much taking my interest, mostly going through PreCure backlog this season, currently airing shows are just a side-dish.
Unlike WCW, Arpeggio was superb.
How cute, you think 17 shows is a lot.
>How's the winter season treating you, /a/?
It's a good season overall.
Probably there aren't masterpieces around, but the average level is quite good, quite a bunch of shows to look foward.
There are some shows i might drop later on, some that i wait much more eagerly than others, but:
Nourin (downloaded, still have to watch first 2 ep)
Too japanese for me. Interesting show tho.
The only reason i'm not watching this is not having finished S1 yet. Will catch up sooner or later.
Tonari and RGZ.
The rest are either not my genre (Soniani, Maken-Ki, ImoCho, SakuraTrick, etc) or S2/adaptation of stuff i didn't watch/read or like.
I don't even.
how long times you spend at paint, OP?
Noragami, Hamatora, Mikakunin
Space Dandy, Nisekoi, Pilot's Love Song, Sakura Trick
Dropped like 5 shows, because they were boring. Good season overall. AOTS? I have no fucking idea, probably Noragami or Mikakunin.
Mh... about 15 minutes for the original layout, plus a minute or two every once in a while per update (an update might have more than one show) on the gimp. Oh, and maybe another 15 or 20 minutes, or maybe half an hour, adding the carry-on shows at the bottom.
I have a layer with the original chart, then a completely black one on top, another one for the dotted colors, and then an invisible layer per emblem and an invisible layer per color/gold/platinum/rainbow as dots.
On the black layer, I then use the eraser tool to add a dot on top of every show, and then I use the emblem layers as brushes (with the clipboard brush) to stamp on top of every circle in the black layer.
On the dotted color layer, I use the invisible color dots as brushes too, and just stamp on top of the shows. The color dots are a bit larger than the dots erased from the black layer.
Then, I just select the alpha of the black layer, make it grow 3 pixels, invert the selection, and delete the selection from the dotted layer. This makes the a contour. I then select the alpha of the black layer again, and delete the selection from the alpha dotted layer. This only leaves the contour without the color that would be on top or behind the black layer. Oh, and I change the dotted layer alpha to 80%.
And then, when I make an update, I just paint black on top of the black layer's deleted dot, and repeat the process just for that show (or number of shows I'm updating).
Wait. Shit. Sorry, it slipped my mind...
Over 9000 hours in MS Paint.
Only Space Dandy, Seki-Kun and Wizard Barristers
Rest is shit. It's fine, I don't have time for too many shows anyways.
This hasn't been a bad season at all. There are some really enjoyable shows.
Seki-kun, although I prefer it as a manga
Sakura Trick (not something that I enjoy)
Sekai Seifuku (same as above)
Mahou Sensou (lel)
ImoCho (waiting for BDs)
>Watching Season 1
>Not so sure about them
Wake up, Girls!
I would like people's opinions on the last 3.
>I would like people's opinions on the last 3.
Is a bit early to tell imo. Personally i never liked idol shows, gave this a chance only because seems to have a different take on the subject, and it was much better than i would have expect.
I'd keep watching to see how things evolve.
The plot is extremely generic and the low budget is quite noticeable, but it has been fun so far - as long as it's entertaing, why not.
Didn't watch Toaru.
>as long as it's entertaing, why not.
This nigger knows.
>Didn't watch Toaru
What are you, a jew?
Watch Toaru, OP. It's about the unermesch riding planes, so pretty much is about the luftwaffe.
It's the worst season for the last 3 years imo. Only 2 shows are worth watching for me, Mikakunin and D-Frag.
Impossible. Winter 2012/2013 exists.
Any honest seinen this season?
haremshit and PURE ACTION need not apply
What the fuck is this even supposed to mean?
Mature anime for mature people like myself.
So no powerlevel fightan and no moeshit.
Kill la Kill
>Three episode rule tier:
Nobunaga the Fool
Robot Girls Z
Well, SYD2. And no, it's not a harem. And well, Saki and Strange+ count too.
But if what you're looking for is something, well, more serious, I guess Toaru Superman is what you're looking for.
Honorable - 8. adj. (obsolete) Decent; honourable; suitable; becoming.
Seinen - 1. noun (slang) a class of manga written for an older male audience, generally 18-30 years old.
>Honorable = honest
What a fucking retard.
Wow, I totally fucked this post up. Forget about me.
Sakura trick is exactly what I expected: Mediocre at best with girls kissing. Haven't picked anything else up yet, will probably watch Robot girls Z at least though.
Last winter was better.
Only thing making this season good is leftovers from previous + a couple I like.
Wake up Girls
Grim dark and edgy.
And the only thing making that season good was Chihayafuru 2.
This season has a lot of potential. Last winter... was a shame.
ex. shinsekai yori, uchouten kazoku, kino no tabi, steins;gate, lain
Again, Toaru Superman.
Steins;Gate looks pretty out of place in that list.
Stop giving deepfags a bad name.
But the most DEEP show this season is Sekai Seifuku.
gdgd Fairies and short anime. Don't forget the short anime. Excepting Inferno Cop, 2014 Winter's shorts are still better than 2013 Winter's shorts.
I just got to your post, thank you for the suggestions
I guess I threw it in there trying to make it obvious that I'm not necessarily looking for deep shit. It's just that some of the easiest examples are like that.
Not him, but seinen, shonen, shoujo, josei, etc are demographics. The demographic for steins;gate, no matter what you think of it or how it played, is seinen.
>The demographic for steins;gate is seinen.
>Starts the season off with monologues about the nature of world conquest and whether peace can truly ever be found
>not the DEEPest of the season
Well, other than Toaru Superman, the most DEEP anime this season IS Sekai Seifuku, but even if it plays around DEEP concepts, it doesn't dwell in them.
Who else would play a VN about a tryhard mad scientist?
Will most likely finish:
Wake Up Girls!
Seinen doesn't discriminate against manchildren. The demographic depends on the age of the audience.
But seriously, I shouldn't even be replying to you. Just stop posting and start lurking forever.
I keep thinking of Evil Con Carne when I try to compare Sekai Seifuku to something.
Pinky and the Brain
No delicious loli in Evil con Carne though. Nor DFC blonde slender streaker.
>The demographic depends on the age of the audience.
Yes, S;G (along with C;H and R;N) are ALL shounen.
I fucking love that smug as hell look on her face.
No VN is shonen.
General Pepel isn't exactly Skarr, but it's close enough.
Do you know how to follow the context of a conversation? We're talking only about the anime.
Only a handful of shows this season.
I'll try to work on my backlog instead.
>Loved/Won't drop no matter what
Tonari no Seki Kun
Pilot's Love Song
Gin no Saji
Nobunaga The Fool
Hoozuki no Reitetsu
>(along with C;H and R;N)
I like how you compare it to things that are almost completely unlike in subject matter.
The source determines the demographic.
But seriously, holy shit, this is the last time I reply to your obvious newfaggotry. Shut the fuck up and start lurking forever already, or fuck off back to MAL or wherever you spilled from, where you can incorrectly use terms any way you want. I bet you refer to yourself, proudly, as an "otaku" too.
If it's really like Pinky and the Brain (which I haven't watched, but heard many good things about), why would people drop Sekai Seifuku?
Nobunaga the Fool
Okay, will probably finish but nothing to get hyped up about:
Imouto show of the Season
Chuu2 (after all the time I forgot why I didn't really like S1. Now I remeber)
Tonari no Seki-kun
Rate my taste
Not sure if you are trolling or really this much of an angry retard
They dislike loli fanservice.
The target audience of each adaptation has a seperate audience of its original work.
You sound mad as hell, by the way.
>why would people drop Sekai Seifuku?
They either can't handle naked lolis or are butthurt because Jimon is not a trap.
Everything you like is shit and everything you don't is great.
WHY, How could you complete shitty Imouto show but will drop these glorious shows? You need to sleep on these hasty decisions anon.
Hamatora is as poorly directed as Coppelion, it's pretty droppable.
>hating last winter
>not liking Sasami
>implying Haganai 2 wasn't fun
Weird how people call it the worst season in years when the one that came right after it had even less good shows.
>Saki, Nobunagun and Wizard Barristers shit
>Sonico and Mahou Sensou great
He has some pretty mixed shit/good taste, but apparently so do you.
Fun is subjective. Quality isn't.
>Lelouch liking shitty comedy
No surprises there
Sasami was shit, Haganai is a generic harem.
Mondaiji was the only show from that season I even finished, it's unspeakable for me to finish less than 4 anime a season. One of the worst I've ever seen.
Noragami could be an average anime and also Z/X Ignition. It's watchable so far.
Did you watch the last episode? I thought it was pretty good, I can understand certain flaws here and there but a lot of /a/ are missing out on it.
So not anime.
>Sasami was shit,
I haven't, I don't have much motivation to either. I'll do it just for you though.
I'll bleed you, you fuck.
Doesn't have manga adaptation
Stop spreading retardness
I didn't hate, it just wasn't very good, and like I said I never finished it.
The only good thing about D-Frag is Saito Chiwa's performance.
But that's retarded. Who buys Basugay? Young boys? Females are main target.
>The source determines the demographic.
This is not true whatsoever.
Say what you want but Spring was objectively worse.
>not liking Hamatora
It has a cute detective, a mentally unstable detective and a murderous psycho that just wants to free the world from the tyranny of a bunch of abnormal brains in jars. I am enjoying it, although I was a little disappointed in episode 2 that the beta faggot's girlfriend wasn't fucking the bullies or the dead sensei for maximum NTR value.
Only Dandy, only hardcore. My new saturday night highlight.
I might catch up on other shows if I read interesting stuff about them on /a/.
OreGairu was good.
Hataraku was a better generic harem than Haganai.
Valvrave and SnK were entertaining at least.
It wasn't harem nor generic
Episode 2 was so terrible.
3 and 1 were both great.
It was definitely a harem, I'll give you it wasn't that generic, but It wasn't very original either.
SYD started serialization in Magazine Special, which was to Magazine kinda like what Square is to Jump. Though I guess you could classify it as shonen, I don't see why not.
Strange+... well, fuck me, it's not seinen. Though it's not shoujo either. It's apparently josei. But I don't see how a grown man wouldn't be able to enjoy it.
As for Toaru Superman, it's based on a light novel. Said light novel is published by Gagaga Bunko, the same publisher that has released the Black Lagoon novel, GJ-Bu, Jinrui, Sasami-san, Rideback and Yahari SNAFU. And regardless, it IS marketed towards the adult male demographic, so it IS seinen.
>OreGairu was good.
No it wasn't.
This anime is really overrated on /a/.
Dropped after a few episodes because the humor and the girls didn't click with me.
From what I've seen it's not that similar to Haganai, but I don't want to judge.
I give you that one, although it was "so bad it's good" and not genuinely good.
More like slow paced and boring as fuck
OreGairu has a pretty well written protagonist, everything else is pretty bad and uninspired though.
I'm watching those in green. Blue ones I'm still not sure about. I might drop them depending on how the next episode goes. Purple ones are on hold until BDs (Imocho is too censored, and Nourin has shitty subs only). Red ones I've dropped.
Too many guys, omnipandering show
>adult male demographic, so it IS seinen
Almost all light novels are for males, there is no separation for older and younger
Hey, that was a very good season with some of my favorite shows aired
This season is totally shit
>This season is totally shit
And Achiga isn't really winter
The Luftwaffe Eagle on Toaru Hikuushi with the Swastika replaced by the Superman logo made me lol a bit.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one giggling like a retard when I was making it.
You think Nourin's gonna get better subs for the BDs or something?
Much worse than I expected.
Season of the disappointments.
Well it'll mean not waiting for m33w and possibly getting their batch scripts. I don't have time for it now, anyway.
